Can some one verify this?
it installs, it runs, it can download updates... but, it comes up with the error
"Failed to remount system partition read-only"
it works fine on my other Android phones.
working without any problem on my phone.
that is the weird thing, i don't understand
it was working fine before today (i just reflashed the ROM, to remount the app2sd properly)
so it's really weird, and it's a fresh install from Market

yes it is rooted, else Titanium Backup will not work, same goes for Quick Reboot
when you formated your card did you take ownership of the partition? if you did it will require superuser access. (if you did that you have to re format the partition)if not try opening your super user app and check to see if the app has been denied
Sent from my Milestone XT720 using XDA App
seems like that was the problem, i re-did the whole app2sd thing, since i had to factory format the phone
it's working now, no more read only error

Hello, I have to let you know that my knowledge over android is limited.
My (rooted) p500 was working flawlessly.
One day the music app just stopped working. I tried to uninstall it with an unistaller, and try to install it again. It wouldnt install for no reason. Just keeps "installing" and never ends.
Next step was performing full backup with the titanium backup. After that i restored the phone to the factory settings.
And here comes the major problem. Any app i try to intall Just keeps "installing" and never ends. Even from the market or just by running the apk.
I performed several restores to factory setting and it didnt help. I cleared the updates the cashe and the data from the Market app. Didnt help.
Is there any way to bring my phone back to normal?
use AppMonster to do your installs/uninstalls or Astro File Manager. I've experienced this issue with the latest version of titanium backup.
Well at this time my phone is useless. I can't install anything.
Is there a way back?

have you tried resetting to factory mode? HOME+VOL DOWN+POWER
I'll do it right now.
Well i thing holding down those keys is the same as doing it from the settings.
So yes i did it once again and nothing happened. Still cannot intall a s#!t!
oh boy... it sounds like it's time for an LG Stock ROM flash.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883314
here is the stock ROM:

edited for latest stock rom.
I'll try it also! Thank you!
If its not too late, it might be better to use a lower version ROM as that is V10L. Which I believe is NOT ROOTABLE.

I tried to do the trick but i could make it through the drivers setup. I put the phone in the emergency mode. After that, and seeing that i couldn't got it working. I restarted the phone, did a reset to factory settings. My phone at this time WAS working.
I started installing apps, but after installing 13 of them, it stuck again. From now on it's in the same situation as before, i cannot install any more.
Should i try the trick again?
Try a different sd card.
Do you have custom recovery? If not, install it. And then you can install any custom rom.

What else have you done with your phone?
My phone did something like this before when I tried to force it to directly install everything new to my memory card which was Class 2. I used some command prompt stuff I found on the internet to instruct my phone to shift to SD card.\ storage.
It would be able to install some files and I even remember Angry Birds would install to SD card even before the mod. Then it would stop and hang at the installing screen after a while.
The solution (after a week at the service center) was to get a faster memory card. That's what the guy said. My temporary fix was to install everything to the Internal Memory like it is supposed to, and move them to the SD card using Titanium Backup. But this made some apps move too slowly...

I used an unistaller to unistall the preinstalled music app because it stopped working. When i tried to install it again that was it, it hangs at the installing screen forever.
According to the sd the only thing i used the move2sd, but i didn't use it.
My sd is class 6.
Is it normal that the superuser (root) remains after recovering to the factory settings?
Should i try to reinstall the software by myself or let the lg technicians do it?
Mind-blowing (for me) update.
While using the device without the sd, the apps get installed normally!
WTF?
PS: Should i use the FAT or the FAT32 file system on my sd card?
I used another sd and it seems to work till now.
Finally.
I formatted the sd card (fat32 just as it was before) and now everything works perfect.
The only minor issue is that i cannot install the music.apk
It always fails. I like when it fails, at least it doesnt freeze.
Do you now any way i could install it, or should i get over it and use an other music app?

Yes, you could get over it and try some other app. There's plenty of them on the market. I settled for doubleTwist.

and ive notice that i'm now unable to install apk's manually on the device.
i can install via ADB so not all lost,
has anyone else come across this problem?
also should i flash the UK ICS when it is available

Might be a silly thought, but have you enabled the unknown sources option...?
Lee
yep thats been done,
under Security > Unknown Sources is ticked
doesnt seem to be anyother settings that i could've missed either.
Hmm. Odd bug then. I can't help (or confirm) yet as I'm doing a system dump before flashing (LPH to LPQ, full wipe + internal sd format). Copying everything from my internal sd to the pc takes a little while, it was nearly full...
You've tried the nasty shotgun approach of clearing caches and fixing permissions...?

Working fine here. I did a wipe before install as it wouldn't work the first time I flashed.
Working fine here. I didn't wipe.
The only thing I noticed is that some apps, previously installed, didn't work. I uninstalled them and reinstalled them from the internal SD Card.
Do you have Root? Depending on how you flashed your phone, you may have lost root access and thus some apps that require root may not install.
i agree it is an odd "bug" not sure why it would do this.
when the install application screen comes up, only the cancel button is responsive.
also i can confirm i have root - i flashed CF_root strait after.
flash the stock XXLPQ kernel, and you will be able to install

Flashing back the stock kernel will actually solve the problem. For the case of rooting your phone, you can use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Got stock kernel on, and rooted my phone using that method. Everything works fine.
Credit goes to Rachmat3 for the guide.
I recently received a new phone (sent the other one back because it wouldn't boot/charge anymore). Anyways, I am not sure if this is something that was occurring on my previous phone or not, but if I install MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk (which is a package I have had forever... maybe there is a newer version or something?) everything works fine until I reboot. I can get into recovery and create/restore a backup, install .zip files, etc. However, after I reboot the phone the icon for System Recovery is no longer in my app drawer. I can re-run the .apk from my external SD card and everything works fine again... until I reboot. Anyone seen this?
BTW Stock 2.3.5 1.3.418
I had that happen before, my solution was move it to system apps, worked at the time
I've SBFed since, and it's working fine

That fixed it... though I don't know what changed. I remember before just hitting the .apk on my external sd card, it installed, and I was fat and happy after that... go figure.

I can't use titanium backup anymore, everytime i run the app i get this:
Code:
Error
Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *NOT* work!
Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes Busybox, and try again
This attempt was made using the "/system/xbin/su" command
I'im running HWMOD's rooted firmware, with superuser "installed and updated", and also busybox "installed and updated". there's nothing wrong, but somehow i can't run titanium backup anymore somehow.
what can be the problem be please, i've googled it and i got no solutions whatsoever!
run the app root checker.
Also from someone who has been there, i dont think titanium works with our unit. Our unit has sd1 and sd2 and sd3. Titanium will backup to sd1, which is internal memory, you can see where this is going. I did a titanium backup, then full wipe, and lost everything because it was not backed up onto sd2...

I don't have to run ROOT CHECKER because i have already other root apps and they function flawlessly (SD maid, quick boot, Busybox installer...) but i run the ROOT CHECKER anyway and it says i do have root privileges.
i forgot to mention that i already used Titanium B to backup apps and data, everything was stored on the external sd card. i could also restore. after all this app is for all android devices.

that's what makes the app perfect, BACKUP and RESTORE between different android devices.
have you updated superuser? this seems to have been the cause. Titanium Backup was working fine before I updated superuser and error message is the same as yours. currently i'm using MyBackups.
you can check HWMOD's thread for details as somone also has him about this already.

I solved it, the problem is that titaniumbackup is using the "/system/bin/su" command but the SU binaries are actualy installed in "/system/xbin/"
what i did is going to BUSYBOX and from there switching the install location to "/system/xbin/"
i tried "mybackups" but i prefer TB

I fear that my hack could led to believe that searching for the "su" binary only in predefined positions is a good thing ...
I still believe applications should gather the correct informations from the PATH environment variable, as good ol' *NIX does.
But as you said it's kind of addressed, let's hope the hack will have a story
These problems arise only if one updates the "Superuser" application past the 3.0.7 (with "su" binary 3.0.3.2).
That one version is the latest one working as expected.
And yes I am a bit sceptical about my own choice of including 3.1.3 instead of the 3.0.7 in my latest update.
The "su" binary executable alone has grown from a mere 22Kb to 380Kb and "apk" has doubled it's size too (1.5Mb).
Related to these changes in "Superuser" several applications does not work any more for many users and upgrades are needed.
The process of getting "root" privileges for any application has turned tremendously slow. From almost immediate to 2/3 secs. each time.
this solution worked for me
Since superuser is working and granting root permissions to other apps (except TB). Using root explorer, I tried renaming the original su file from /system/bin/su and replacing it (copy-paste) with the su file from /system/xbin
Reloaded TB and it worked =)
Actually i have no problem in my 1st install for titanium backup. but soe how i uninstall accidentally. when i reinstall, it prompt memory not enough but i hve abt 3.5 gb left. my fone is rooted S3. can anybody help. tks in advanced...
Hi,
I re-flashed my phone yesterday to the official 4.1.2 ROM (Spain), this was on Paranoid Android before, did a full wipe etc. All seems okay, rooted it, but the external SD card is read only, all files are marked as R, suspect this is also why titanium backup hangs restoring my apps. Never had any problems like this before and I can't find anything to fix this, it's driving me mad. Can anyone suggest a fix,
Thanks,
I managed to fix this with root explorer by re-mounting as r/w. titanium backup still hangs though

not only TiBu hangs, Waze navigation cannot access SD card. no re-install helps, I've repartitioned SD, reformated, reflashed phone,
SD is not working the way it should
Hi, mines okay now following using root explorer. I installed and older version of TiBu from their website and it worked fine, this it was v 5.7 or something. Also I raised a support call and they suggested changing the app processing mode, haven't tried this as the older version worked so I'm going to stick with it.
Same problem here.
Apparently it is only in adb shell and only if I am not root. Apps and Terminal app can access without problems.
