[Q] ROM for E10a - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hey
Is there any rom fro E10a, 'cause all I've seen is ROMs for E10i, or maybe anyone can point me in the right direction for making a ROM for E10a?
Thanx

here you go
go to my post on 3g/wcdma issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895105
i uploaded an e10a rooted x.x.x.x.24 firmware; the system is for xrecovery and the other files for bin4ry flash tools on the second post
PS: maybe i should re-do my post and make a tutorial since many members have confirmed it works

yes, please!
i too have e10a and would like to have a step-by-step to get a pre-rooted rom installed....
i can't seem to get app2sd of jit working on my mini... maybe a pre-rooted rom will solve my probs... any way to add app2sd and jit to the rom??

e10 xrecovery on its way...
hello,
i have followed the xrecovery method for making a pre-rooted e10a compatible update.zip with xrecovery pre-loaded. many thanks to the users who have provided this forum with the tools necessary for me to do so. i can confirm that i am tethering from it with barnacle as you are reading this!
the bad/good news (depends on how you look at it): since the 2.0.2.A.0.24 e10a update method's data connection icons would show up but would *not* allow me to have a functioning data connection, i decided that i needed to make a system image native to the e10a, so i used my own firmware's 2.0.1.A.0.47 system.sin. this means that canadian users will soon have a pre-rooted version of the latest (at least my SEUS says it is) firmware for their region.
the good news: e10a users will finally have a means to root their phones after updating to the latest firmware (2.0.1.A.0.47), on which z4root no longer works.
just give me either 1 or 2 hours to get a howto up on another thread or (it's getting late here) 24h to 36h to sleep / perform my daily non-computer tasks and then i'll update this post with a link to my thread / guide.
cheers,
uriah

ok try this
@watchyourbreath
for flashing a custom rom you'll need an already rooted firmware on your phone since you'll be needing xrecovery, if you have already xrecovery just download the update.zip from the thread i linked to in the previous post (second post on that thread), in xrecovery use the option wipe all data (factory reset) then use the option install update.zip from sd card
IMPORTANT: you should have the kernel that eclair uses 2.6.29 since my rom is 2.1 itself
that is for the pre-rooted rom
if you don't have xrecovery yet and don't have root, flash a 2.0.A.0.504 firmware (eclair) doesn't matter if it's not e10a ( read the thread i posted) then root it with z4root ( it's around the forums)
now for the jit an apps2sd part,
for jit you have to modify build.prop on the following parts
dalvik.vm.heapsize=30m
kernel.log=default
debug.sf.hw=1
and at the end of the file add this
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit
then extract the jit carpet from the atachements and place it on your sd card
then open a terminal and write the following
su
(give root permitions to terminal)
cd sdcard
cd jit
sh enable_jit.sh
then the phone should reboot and have jit enabled
on the apps2sd i can't help you because i havent tried it myself, because what i
do is remove the dop.iso file from the data folder with root explorer, that
gives arround 130 mb of free space also dop.iso is the option when you connect
your phone to install pc companion on the pc so if you already have it installed
there is no need for it on your phone
hope this helps

...as promised

@uriah
thanks so much! I'm going to try it out later today...

thanks! this is just what i needed!

Thanx, that was exactly what I was looking for!!

can't find it either... still leaning towards getting app2sd going.... i am hovering around 39 mb of free space but i would love to not feel so restricted!
gonna try the tuts posted above this weekend....

@kurotany, uriah
is it possible to use azuzu's newest rom (smalldevil) with this method of converting it to e10a 3g specs?
smalldevil: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903323

@ watchyourbreath,
I believe that would depend on whether the SmallDevil firmware is based on an E10i or an E10a firmware. However, you could try replacing my update.zip with his and using my guide for downgrading, etc.
If your data connection doesn't work when trying his update.zip, you might have a bit more luck using the .sin files from the guide posted earlier in this thread (the link posted before mine).
Good luck!
uriah

yep, its safe
@ watchyourbreath
yes, there is no problem using e10i roms, tried it myself while testing my tutorial for 3g/wcdma problems, since i belive most roms only replace the files that come in system.sin you shouldn't loose 3g, but if by any reason you do lose it you can do the flashing method in my first post link to get it back
PS: @ijama also, the file is located in /data, it should be there if when you plug your phone you get the option to instal the pc companion, if you only get conect phone and charge phone options then yep it's deleted, try searching with root explorer, it's in /data folder root

rom for a...
well upload some where your system.img...
and i can make one..

i don't understand, but i will do as i'm told once i do! do i need to get small tools installed and convert something? i'm kinda not a complete noob so you don't need to start from scratch...
and to clarify, if i can upload a system.img file for you, you can make a smalldevil rom for e10a?

clarification...
it would be possible.. so upload somewhere system.sin from your seus directory and i will do it..
is that ok?

sure is! i'm not home right now but i'll do it when i get home...
amazing! can't wait to be able to load a rom with root, xrecov, app2sd and jit already in place!!!
thanks so much in advance.... upload coming later on.....

I will be waiting for your work with e10a aZuZu!

no system.img..
i still don't see link... of system.img nowhere..
but as far as i can see.. only diff between e10i and e10a is in build.prop, logcat and few libs...
so putting buid.prop and replacing logcat + libs should give working e10a rom...

[GUIDE] Decrypting your own branded ROM

Fastest way to decrypt your own branded ROM by Binary
Bin4ry said:
FYI:
You can also use the new tool here. Usage:
SEUSDECRYPT.BAT FILE_XXXXXXXX -> That gives you a FILE_XXXXXX.tgz -> Unzip -> Then Untar the File which comes out
If you SEUSDECRYPT the small 64kb File you get directly the loader.sin no need to unzip and untar

You may find the ConvertTools below.. This is just sick
Old way of decrypting ROM
Below is the guide to decrypting ROM which comes from SEUS. By following this guide, you will have your branded ROM decrypted as SIN files and later you can flash back the ROM to X10 with flashtools. So you can root and debrand all you like without worry because later you can flash your branded ROM back to your X10.
Tools:
jerpelea SIN Reconstructor
http://hotfile.com/dl/52847024/13749f6/SIN_Reconstructor.rar.html
Requirement:
Your Xperia X10 must have the any version of the branded ROM installed first. If you already rooted or debranded it, you must rebrand it with your ROM first. See other threads about how to achieve this. The SIN Reconstructor tools cannot be used to extract the tho downloaded ROM files directly.
Step 1. Getting the extracted ROM from SUES
Task: Getting the targeted ROM files ready to be flashed with SEUS.
Do an update with SEUS to get your latest branded ROM, and let the ROM to be flashed to your X10. After this you will have the two files in SEUS db ready and next flashing, you don't need to download anymore and SEUS will flash it directly for you.
Task: Installing the extractor files to SEUS
Inside SIN Reconstructor, you will find com.sonyericsson.cs.usbflashnative_2.10.6.24.jar in seus directory. Backup your usbflashnative.jar from your SEUS plugin's directory somewhere else first, then copy the com.sonyericsson.cs.usbflashnative_2.10.6.24.jar file to plugin directory and then rename to the one you back up just now.
Task: Extracting ROM with dump0
Now you create a file in SEUS root. You need to create a file name dump0, make sure its dump0, not dump0.txt if you create the file using notepad and rename it. The run the SEUS update again. This will reflash your X10 then afterward, you get a lot of sign and bin files in SEUS root directory. Then you move the file somewhere else first
Task: Extracting ROM with dump1
Same as above but now you need a file name dump1, and the file dump0 must not exists in SEUS directory. After you are finished with reflash, you will have a lot of sign and bin files again, then move somewhere else.
Step 2. Identifying the bin and sign files
Because the extracted rom files are named in number, you need to identify and rename them first. When renaming, you need to rename pair of sign and bin files to the designated name.
When making SIN files, you only need to create this file below:
amss.sin
boot.sin
dsp1.sin
recovery.sin
system.sin
userdata.sin
The rest of SIN files is the same with other debranded SIN files you downloaded before which are:
amss_fs.sin
apps-log.sin
cache.sin
fota0.sin
fota1.sin
How to identify is very easy, find the file and the rename
amss file size is about 15Mb
boot file size is about 5.1Mb
dsp1 file size is about 8Mb
recovery file size is about 5.4Mb and bigger then boot.sign
system file size is the largest
userdata file size is 4Kb
When you have all this pairs renamed, copy them to SIN Extractor files directory.
Then we need to recheck the rebuild.cmd against the sign file size. Guides taken from rebuild.cmd
Code:
@echo off
@echo sizes are adjustable for every sign file
@echo if your file size differs from mine
@echo adjust count= vith the value obtained from
@echo size of .sign file -17 and correct the value
@pause
@echo amss.sin
@..\tools\dd if=../files/amss.sign bs=1 skip=13 count=4074>amss.sin
@..\tools\cat ../files/amss.bin >>amss.sin
Meaning that if the amss.sign file size is for example 5017, then you need to change the count into 5000.
If you finished to this step, you have the you decrypted rom almost ready, all you need to do is copy the amss_fs.sin, apps-log.sin, cache.sin, fota0.sin, fota1.sin from other debrand ROM you downloaded.
Then you have your decrypted ROM ready. Mission accomplished
For those asking why dump0 and dump1 will create same files, except for extra 8699.bin and 8699.sign, i just recreate the dump guide, i don't know if you just do with dump1 straightaway will get you the same thing if you do dump0 and dump1. too lazy to test.
Both Dump0 and Dump1 present will work
i really dont gettin over it,
could you please be so nice and do the decrypting of my A1 ( Austria) files?
kind regards DAuL
is not that i don't want to help. but decrypting rom requires you to flash your x10 with the targeted rom first. which means i need to reflash mine and do the whole thing again.
which part of the process give you.trouble. i'll help you solve it.

If next root update come, which means i might reset my whole phone and root, and configure all over again, i might as well help you guys decrypt your branded ROM.
Please upload somewhere like megaupload or hotfile (except rapidshare) for me to download, and later i'll decrypt and post to the decrypted branded rom thread.

Wow, that's good for you. Where is this exploit root method discussion anyway. Seems that i missed the posts. Even though i doubt i will use the exploit to root SingTel firmware now which is still a R2BA020 fw. hahaha.
we are couple steps behind the other, because the fw contains SingTel Timescape Live Traffic Update mods.

It's here:
X10 Mini/Pro Root Method
You probably missed it because you thought it was about the X10 Mini/Pro. Actually, it started with instructions for using the new "exploid" root for the Mini, but then it was discovered that it also works (as is) with the X10.
The good thing about this root method is that you don't have to debrand or downgrade in order to use it. In other words, you can stay with whatever ROM you currently have and not have to lose apps, contacts, SMS, etc. But of course you can also debrand it and then root it if you want (which is nice if you want the latest firmware).
EDIT: Oops, MrKingLouie already posted the link.

X10 Custom ROM AOSP 2.1 : How to for dummies [tutorial & discussion]

this thread is open to help newbies to install the 2.1 custom rom with the simples way..
you also can discuss any problem here..
dont mess the dev thread with a dumb question...
thanks to "Perceval from Hyrule" for the original tutorial..
this is revise version for 2.1
INSTALLATION FOR 2.1 AOSP
Before attempting anything, make sure you have AT LEAST 50% of battery charge. Don't try anything with low battery, you can abort the flashing and brick your device !!!
Please make sure you're also running a 2.1 rom (Generic, nordic, official, custom...)
1st step:
make sure your computer is adb debugging ready..
in case in need for command execution..
- Download Android SDK
You don't need to save the entire archive (but you can), you just need the Tools folder (because it contains ADB, the Android Debug Bridge we need to install files).
2nd step:
- On x10 :
Enable USB debugging (Setting > Applications > Development).
Root your device. easiest way by using z4root.
Download and install Busybox (from Market), make sure it says "Done!".
3rd step:
install xrecovery for recovery menu.
xrecovery a.k.a recovery menu
4th step:
option 1:
Download rom.
2.1 AOSP ROM (make sure 2.1 since this tutorial is for 2.1)
extract the rom (u will get 2 folder + 1 files)
upload the file into your sd card root(sdcard/*.zip)
rename the *.ZIP to Update.ZIP
*the 2 folder contain application which u can install if u like
option 2:
Download rom.
2.1 AOSP ROM (make sure 2.1 since this tutorial is for 2.1)
extract the rom (u will get 2 folder + 1 files)
upload the file into your sd card root(sdcard/*.zip) or in any folder u like
*the 2 folder contain application which u can install if u like
5th step:
boot into recovery menu (by restart and hit few times back button when "SONY ERICSSON" word appear)
backup your original rom(in case u want to restore next time)
hit full wipe
option 1:
hit install update.zip from SD card
option 2:
hit install custom zip
search for the custom zip in folder where u save it
hit the zip file
after reboot, u will get custom rom installed in your X10
good luck ;-)
TIPS
1-u can do like rendeiro2005 said by creating rom folder and put the rom collection in it..
so if u want to change or try other rom just choose zip file from the particular folder...
this require using step from option 2
2-another one, by creating folder which contain backup image..
u can collect your friends backup image and put in one folder..
if u want to try, just restore the particular image file using backup/restore option in recovery menu and choose the backup image file..
collection of custom rom backup file for recovery menu:

p/s: anyone who want to contribute their customize custom rom using backup image and list here can either pm me or response in this thread..
for use with recovery menu only..
Hi bro,
Only two calls on your excellent tutorial:
1. No need to put the rom in the root of the sdcard. I, for example, to distinguish the roms, I`ve created a folder "Rom" in the root and put the roms in there.
2. It is not necessary to rename the *. zip file.
When we entered the xRecovery, you can go to "install Custom Zip> zip Choose Custom from sdcard>" Now in my case I a. .. "Roms >........" and I intend to choose

it`s not a different way.
i think that way would be more simple (for me at least) `couse you can have different roms puted on the same directory without, everytime that you want to install one change his name to default.zip
but...great TUT (clap your hands floks)
Since i haved installed the 2.1 AOSP, my recovery were deleted !
So i install the xrecovery.apk but it doesnt work (don't fin the SD Card), so i paste the 3 files with root explorer but nothing to do... the recovery doesn't work at all =(

Install all 3?! Yes you can...if you want you can install WM and iOS
Now mre seriously.
If you want to install 2.1 you have to format sdcard to one partition only. 2.1 doesn't work with more than 1.
Then you can flash...follow this guide to do so

[Q] Wolfs GB ROM install issue

Hi there.
Not sure if I'm retarded or what, but I'm following these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988
xRecovery can't find the .zip file. I've renamed it 'wolf.zip' even, and nothing. Not sure how to progress.. I've searched to no avail.
which directory you put in?

/sdcard/
I've also tried renaming it to update.zip, and putting it in other folders that are visible on xRecovery. Still can't find the actual .zip
Have u tried finding the file on ur comp? Connect ur phone, enable usb storage and browse the card for the file. What I did was made a folder called Gingerbread in the root directory of the sdcard and placed all necessary wolf rom files in there, that way I know exactly where they are everytime. Just a suggestion.

Yes, that's how I got the file on the SD card to start with. Phone is semi-bricked imo, that might be causing xRecovery to not work properly or something..

Do you have the GB update for xrecover?
Without unlocked bootloader, almost impossible to brick the X10.
Yeah, I ended up using PC companion to bring it up to default ROM, and started again. Mission successful. This time xRecovery worked fine.
As for the -GB update - the link on this forum doesn't work.
Man, I was late, but I think you should try remounting /sdcard. Also, at that time, are you already on SE 2.3.3 GB? If so, what version of xRecovery are you using? You need xRecovery-GB-Ready for it to work properly on 2.3.
Anyway, here's the link to Generic 2.3.3.

Yeah, I had stock 2.3.3 GB, rooted. And xRecovery v0.3.
As I said, the one link I found on XDA (and whole internet for that), doesn't work for me. Mediafire link times out or something, can't remember.
Still werid it worked 2nd time..

For your sake I hope you are not retarded .
Are you trying the option install custom.zip or are you selecting the custom zip
?
You must select the file unless the name of the file is actually update.zip, also if the directory of the file has any DOT "." before the name it won't show in there at all.

[Q] [mini pro] from GingerDX v17 on stock to zombie [Solved]

Hi guys,
This is my very first post on XDA.
I've spent a lot of time parsing and looking for answers (too much if you ask my wife ) I'm no more feeling "alone" when I read all this people going mad for their phones
I managed to unlock my mini pro and install GingerDX v17 without any problem. Now I'd like to use a custom kernel (zombie), but as I installed the modules, I suppose I have to remove them before flashing the new kernel.
I'm looking for some hints and advices to be sure I do not brick my phone and follow all the good steps.
What I'm planning to do:
Delete the modules and files present in the zip I flashed (through command line of SDK, right ?)
Download the new kernel and place it in SD (well, follow the zombie thread instructions...)
Reboot in recovery (and do full wipe ?)
Flash the new kernel
Reboot
My phone specs:
X10 mini pro
Stock kernel
GingerDX v17
CMparts fix flashed
GingerDX modules flashed
Thank you for your help and suggestions.
Tim
PS:
I'm not sorry for my bad English as it's written we don't have to write it, right
your going somewhat right but follow these steps:
1) Delete the modules u flashed from the ginger-dx_module pack(for stock) from /system/lib/modules with root explorer
modules present :
cy8ctma300_ser.ko
ext3.ko
ext4.ko
jbd2.ko
jbd.ko
smartass.ko
x8mddi.ko
x8oc.ko OR U can directly flash the ROM zip which u downloaded without the modules but do not make factory reset or any wipe..
2)Download kernel on PC.. Open using Winrar or any zip.. you will find X10 Mini Pro_Zombie Panic Kernel v1.6.3_slade87.ftf file.. place the it in the /firmwares folder in flashtool..
3)turn off ur phone
4)Run the flashtool from PC select the kernel [ zombie panik] from list. it will ask you to connect phone in flash mode
5)so press the back button on phone and then connect using USB.. then the kernel will be flashed and u will be said to disconnect and reboot your phone..
6)your done
hope it helps..
Hey,
It took me more time to find a good root file explorer than flashing the new kernel. Finally ES Explorer did the work (after ticking root option in settings).
My phone is sooooooooooooo more reactiv ! Impressive.
Thank you faiyyaz for your help.

quite useful and user friendly..

options to upgrade android/kernel?

first off, got my first smartphone 2 days ago and am a total noob, so please excuse me.
I'd like to know whether there is a newer version of android available for the xperia mini pro than 2.3.4 and/or a newer kernel version. this forum looks a bit complicated to me, so far Ive only seen android version 2.3.4 in this section.
are there any regular or custom versions? could I install a newer (custom) version of android without updating the kernel version? what are the benefits of updating the kernel as well? I already unrooted my phone, is unlocking the bootloader needed as well or other stuff?
my stats:
SK17i
Android Version: 2.3.4
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-perf
Build-Number: 4.0.2.A.0.58
To make a long story short....
Try and update through PC Companion. Kernels and OS Versions are bundled together in the same package when the phone is updated.
I would recommend you did not try and unlock bootloader, install custom rom etc, since you are a new user. Stock works just fine. And tbh has the best battery consumption than any custom rom.
When you feel that you have expanded your understanding of how the phone works and how Android works, then you can dive into the flashing pool along with us
alright, one thing then: according to the SonyEricsson Xperia Flasher by Bin4ry & Androxyde Root access is allowed and I can also delete everything I want from my system/app folder with titanium backup.
but when trying the same with rootexplorer, it tells me file system is read only and ES file explorer tells me I cant delete these files.
how come? root access is granted, but why can I still not delete these files with rootexplorer? how to remove the read only mode?
use super manager to uninstall those applications

From a file explorer like root explorer, you first have to mount your internal storage as R/W. Before doing that they are read-only.
doh, didnt notice before -.-
