[Q] Google Search force close with NeroV3? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently flashed NeroV3 with JL5 and enabled Voodoo. Of course, I'm loving it. The only thing that's really bugging me is that now whenever I try and use Google Search, it force closes. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Force Closes?

Hey people,
I'm using MoDaCo Rom 1.1, and since yesterday I've been getting constant Force Closes on Touch Input and/or TouchFlo.
Anybody knows how to fix this?

system freezes when accessing Gallery?

I've been experiencing this problem ever since I've had the phone. More often than not, accessing the Gallery will cause the system to freeze and I have to take out the battery to reboot. I applied the OCLF and it seemed to help for a little while, now this phone is back to it's old tricks. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I can do to fix it? I'm running stock btw.
I personally have not seen anyone else post that issue. I had an issue before when pics would not show because Media Scanner was not running... the roms I am on lately seem to resolve that though (back then when I had the issue I used an app in the market to scan my media and then the pics would show).
You say stock, do you mean stock JI6... as in you have done nothing to the phone?
Maybe not an option, but why not try a custom rom and see if that fixes the issue... if it does not, unroot and tell Samsung what's wrong and get a replacement.
I usually hate when people mention getting replacements, but you sound like you have a legit problem and not trying to work the system.

yes, this is a common issue on stock 2.1.1 firmware right now, happened to me constantly, when it does this someone told me that when you open gallery, theres a memory leak bug which opens and then phone can't handle so it freezes.
Flash a custom ROM, i use axura 2.1, so far its been the fastest, most stable for me.
idk if this will work but ask for a gallery.apk from different roms where the leak has been fixed, and then try that, or just flash a new rOM.

i had this problem when i just wantes to use stock with root. this is actually common problem with ji6 roms that still use the stock gallery apk.for some reason the stock gallery in ji6 always tends to lock up.there's a fixed version of the apk floating around somewhere.
I had this same problem with JI6, but it went away when I updated to the leaked JK6. This or any recent custom rom should fix the problem for you.

As i said its a memory leak bug, which has been fixed, you should either get a different gallery.apk from newer roms, or get a new rom.
I suggest a newer rom, but its up to you.
If you are running JI6, then this is a common problem for many people.
i had the same problem with my first and second vibrant, i updated to jk6 on number 2 and it went away.
can anyone post the apk to fix this????
Also interested in a the new Gallery .apk.... probably would have to push it using adb? I'm probably just gonna jump right on JL5 tonight.

Apps auto-closing.. HELP!

I have posted at Android forums about this problem, and so far I have not found a solution...
On Stock Android 2.1 I can use any app and it stays open, even after I hit the home button. I can click on an app that I used a few minutes ago and it comes up instantly because I did not force close with any kind of manager...
Recently flashed NERO V5, and the opposite is happening. Apps are closing on their own after I use them. I can actually pull up the stock task manager and WATCH a certain app get HIGHLIGHTED IN RED...The CPU USE will go up, and BAM...closed.
I've tried reflashin 4 times now to Auxura's latest, and back to NREo V5. Same results. ONLY when I ODIN'd back to stock 2.1 rom did my apps stay open unless force closed.
Is this a result of faulty hardware? An OS tweak I need?
Please advise, as I love the custom ROMS but hate having to wait on WEB to load up again, after just using it 2 minutes ago....
TY for ANY help or suggestions..
Did you reinstall through Titanium? Did you Odin 1St. Before flashing? Just some troubleshooting starters?
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
SOLVED...
AFTER a series of 5 COLD boots...NOT restarts, everything is running normal..
TY.
Good to hear!

sounds like it was a permissions problem. You probably weren't doing wipes before you loaded each of these roms. If you download Rom Manager, you can use the "Fix Permissions" option to resolve a lot of the force close problems.
Nope...still auto closing...
I thought I had this fixed dammit!
I thought that hitting the back button after opening an app closed it. Not on my phone it doesn't. Also, WEB and Contacts close after I use facebook or market. Are there any hardware diagnostic tools available in market? Anyway to check if this issue is hardware related?
Yes, I checked the clear box prior to installing new roms if that's what you meant. I did not check the backup rom button though...
Tried fix permissions too but the problem is back now!
Maybe it's hardware related, IDK...
I cannot get WEB and contacts to stay open. I use these 2 apps alot at work, but whenever I use other apps such as market, facebook, camera etc... upon return home, I can take a peek in task manager, and sure enough...NOT THERE.

same thing happening here on froyo ka6 vibrant.....i've tried sgs tuner, memory manager, toolbox, etc but can't get the apps to stay open.
You only have this problem in Axura correct? Not in any other 2.2 roms you've tried or stock 2.1....how about stock 2.2?
It mainly happens in froyo.

[Q] Anyone else experiencing comrom issues?

I dont know when this started because I just noticed it, but I keep getting FC issues with com rom when I try and use the music player, or quick search in poweramp, or try and manage my apps. I figured it was a kernel issue (voltagewise) because I had some instability every so often with music players locking up on a track change..but even resetting the voltages I still get the issues..
Im about to reflash right now but I figured I would ask anyways.
Thanks guys!
Reflash solved it

[Q] DSP Manager force closing

I get force closes on DSP manager every time a call is either made or received. It happened on CM7, miui and now Eclipse which makes me think I'm just missing something here, do I need something else installed or anything like that?
edit: it wasn't every time a call was made in CM7 or miui, just happened at random times on those two.
