Mine goes to the nAa screen for a couple minutes then restarts and does this over and over. I think I missed a step. I did not format/system/data etc etc and did not get cwm. For some reason I thought I read you only needed to wipe or format if you were coming from another custom kernel. It took me over 4 hours to finally get the root and bootloader part finished.
I have no idea how to mount an sd card or install anything on the sd card. ios brah here so as of yesterday I had never even seen let alone messed with android.
Also confused if I need to load something after the nAa kernel or if it contains jellybean itself. Even the beginners guides seem to assume I am smart enough to know what mounting image or formatting cards means. Please anyone know where I went wrong_? Or maybe a link to a beginners guide my grandma could understand? Thanks and sorry but I have searched and come up short.

It was on this forum. You must use search option and google. Once i can do this for you :click here

But you do require custom recovery to flash the kernel from. It depends on the rom and the kernel. Certain kernels cannot be flashed with few roms.
Have you installed the custom recovery first? and if not then that key combination would reset your phone.
hey... if i root my phone with "gingerbreak"....... will it not let me to enter the recovery mode on pressing the 3 button at startup.....????
and bit confused between custom recovery and custon rom.....????

Gingerbreak only roots your phone. You need to install custom recovery which allows you to flash custom kernels and roms.
HOME + VOL DOWN + POWER key combination would reset your phone if you don't have custom recovery installed. Rooting just gives you superuser access.
Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
Custom recovery is a must, for installing kernels and roms xd
all seem ok... but here is the order i did it in!
1.root using gingerbreak
2.Instal custom recovery with ROM manager, cmw recovery installed
3.Put the kernel in sd card, flash from recovery!
Job done! happy Flashing!
Steps which I followed.
1. Install "Gingerbreak" and root your phone.
2. Switch to Android Keyboard.
3. Back up all the data using Titanium backup.
4. Paste the kernel zip on SD card.
5. Install "Terminal Emulator."
6. Download amon_ra_recovery_installer.zip
7. Extract the contents of the above zip file to the root of your SD card.
8. Open "Terminal Emulator." and type "su" command and the superuser will ask you for permission, grant it and you can notice that the "$" sign will change into "#".
9. Type
Code:
sh /sdcard/rf.sh
and press Enter. The phone will reboot into custom recovery.
10. Create a NAND backup.
11. Flash the kernel zip.
12. Reboot.
Happy Flashing

That's an easy way to do it But dont forget to make a NAND backup after installing your chosen recovery! [very important]. This will be the key to restoring your phone in case anything goes wrong when flashing your chosen kernel (or ROM).

thx for reply i tried that earlier and on bootup it went into blue and i couldnt mount any of the partitions
how do i flash in odin with atlas 2.2 pit file or without?
I use the recovery JT attached in this post. Should be the same one linked to about.
Shouldn't need to mount anything.
Boot into recovery using three finger method (only do this for the first time into recovery ).
Install zip from SD card
Choose zip from SD card
install the MIUI 7-29 file from post you linked to.
After its complete you can flash the Glitch kernel too, without even rebooting.
That's how I've always done it, just had to do this over ED05 after messing my phone up after flashing CM7 and Vanilia to try them out.

I always select the PIT file, and make sure the box that says "Repartition" is checked on the left side.
You only need the Atlas PIT file if you are trying to go back to a Froyo rom after flashing one of the GB roms. Say going from MIUI back to ED05.

I wiped my internal sd card.. My galaxy s2 won't boot anymore

I made a grave mistake today, I wiped everything in my internal sd card. Now it won't boot anymore. It is just booting from the galaxy s2 logo. I followed the guide in the the wiki of cyanogenmod
The part where i made a mistake is in the "Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card." I thought that the root of the sd card is in my external microsd card. So I proceeded and put the update.zip in the microsd card.. Then I did Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe cache partition. After that I tried to find the update.zip but can't find it anywhere.
So I rebooted my galaxy s2, then bang it won't start anymore. It just loops in the galaxy s2 logo part.
So I searched google and found out that I wiped everything in my internal sd card including the stock galaxy s2 software. i made the biggest mistake of the year.
I mistakenly put the cm9 in my external sd card.. The clockwork mod can't read the external sd card. So now i'm stock with a brick galaxy s2
Please help me. I just started this rooting thing and now my galaxy s2 is bricked.
I know the odin application can help me flash a new rom. But i don't know where to proceed. What rom should I download?
If i can install a custom rom using odin i know this can help me fix my problem.
Please guide me. im begging all of you.
Can you still put your phone in download mode? if you can, then you can probably install stock rom.after that you can root your phone again. have you tried intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
Sounds to me like you didn't flash a proper kernel. You'll get stuck at the boot logo if that happens.

yes. i think thats what happened. please help me fix this.
I would advise you use odin to flash a stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 use this to download a stock rom / root it. Then you can flash any rom after that!
I deleted my internal on purpose
You say Clockwork Mod can't recognise your External SD card, so i presume you can get into recovery?. if you're running a custom recovery like Clockwork and you can get in to recovery you'll be ok.
Dl a custom rom (checkrom) or kernel which supports external sd card, (like siyah or something) Connect your phone to your pc, and boot into recovery. Go to storage options in recovery and mount your phone. Your internal memory should be available to view in your pc. Copy across the file(s) you downloaded and Install the zip. The custom rom will bring you back to speed, or the custom kernel will allow you to flash whatever you had on your External SD to begin with. I recommend the rom flash though.
There should be plenty of help regarding Odin in the forums. Let us know how you get on.

If you wiped internal sd card you need to remove and replace battery enter download mode and flash a stock rom via ODIN .As you have wiped the entire OS so phone cannot boot to something that no longer exists .
Any stock rom will recover your phone logic says use one for your location .

Happy to help, and good to hear it worked out
This is how you learn about custom roms, i think its good to get a bootloop etc. because it forces you to try troubleshoot and increases your knowledge.
and also if you can get into CWM recovery then thats generally a good sign and things can be recovered from there.
glad everything worked for you.

Install Odin on your PC, get the samsung drivers by installing Kies.
Hold down volume down key, middle of d-pad and power buttons all together while phone is off.
Put a different Rom .zip on your sd card using a PC.
Use Odin to flash clockworkmod to the phone, when fiinshed the phone will boot into cwm.
Use cwm to install the zip you put on the sd.
Reboot into the stable ROM.

I use Odin Multi Downloader v4.34
The data partition not formating would be a cause for concern, if I was you I would try formating it with ClockWorkMod by doing a data wipe/factory reset.
If it was me I would use my computer to put CyanogenMod 7.2 .zip file on the SD (its stable and handy for getting things working)
Most stock ROMS won't flash through CWM.
So to summerise I would try this:
Go into download mode.
Link up with Odin and select your OPS file (make sure GTI5500 OR 5503 appears at top and not the word Android)
Select "One Package" in Odin options
Download a .zip of Clockworkmod for galaxy 5
select it as the One Package and don't touch the other boxes...
let clockworkmod flash into the phone and let it boot into it
now try the data wipe in clockworkmod
install the cyanogenmod zip from the sd and reboot
good luck
I've attached my Clockworkmod Zip file. I use it at least once a week so its good

Yep! There is no key combo for recovery on Galaxy5, if I need to boot recovery and cannot load the rom I just put it in download mode and use odin to reflash clockworkmod, then when its finished it auto boots into cwm and I do whatever I need to

please help me

there`s a z ultra which is not mine
i wanted to disable its soft key,
it was unlouck bootloader and root on buil 136
i used this app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270198
i used it a bit, then i replaced original builed prop which i had copied befor withe the new one after using this app and then i rebooted the phone but it stayed on boot, i went to recovery and did 3 wipes but no result and then i went to somewhere in recovery and did format system, but now my phone stayed on ''sony'' and i don`t know what should i do.the phone dont power off and dont pass the boot
please help me
this phone is not mine
pleaaaase
You were on the right track there for a minute. A wipe wouldn't do anything, since it couldn't know that the build.prop you put back wasn't the original one. A re-flash of the ROM would've fixed it (without wiping).
- Press and hold POWER + VOL UP until you feel three vibrations. It's now off. Power it on again and see if it goes any further than the Sony logo. If not, power it off again.
- Power it on and check if Recovery or TWRP are still there. If they are, great. Restore or re-flash the ROM if you're on a custom ROM.
- If Recovery is not there, flash a boot.img that has recovery and restore/re-flash ROM
thank you sir
your answer gaves me a hope...thanks very mush
i did what you said, after first power off and on it couldn`t go further than sony logo.
after that i reach cwm v6.0.4.4
when i want to reboot system from recovery it says:
root access is missing,root device? ''no'' or '' yes-root device (/system/xbin/su) ''
my rom was original and had updated by ota
and i dont have nandroid backup
what would i do now?
again thanks and thanks
Well, you're able to access recovery, so you'll have to re-flash a ROM. I believe you can transfer a ROM to your SD card while in recovery, but I'm not sure. Or just put your SD card into your computer, transfer a ROM to it and flash.
Go to the development section and download a ROM like Dogg ROM or something and just flash it. They are pre-rooted and everything so just flash and you'll be done.
