[Q]Aosp The past the future the boot loader. - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so it's very clear that the x10 2.1 software and firmware was very rushed..
And so far AOSP 2.1 has been doing wonderful things on my x10.
I have found that some apps that require a sound input "from the MIC" for example the star trek tri-corder app crashes when using the sound meter.
1.Will getting access to bootloader/firmware give us more power & control?
2.Does aosp2.2 allow us to run 2.2 apps?

[Q] Custom ROMS and HDMI out

Hi,
First off I'm quite new to flashing ROMS and am in no way a developer or programmer more of a intrigued end user of the ROMS developed for the Streak.
I have been using Gingerstreak 2.4.4 since the RC was released but the wifi problem started to become a little annoying so have now switched to Power Rom Lite. What I am trying to understand is why the HDMI video out (I have the AV dock) worked with Gingerstreak but not with Power Rom Lite and is ther anything I can do easily to make this feature work? I don't use it very often but it is nice if I have taken a video and want to show it quickly on the TV.
Cheers,
Jon.
I've no experience with any of these, but I suspect you may be best asking the question in the rom development thread for the rom you are trying to use it on.

He can't. He doesn't have ten posts yet.
Does Power Rom Lite use a different Music Player ("Music.apk") than the stock roms?
If yes, this should be the problem. HDMI out works only with the stock Music.apk (which Gingerstreak uses)
I haven't used Power Rom Lite yet, so this is just a guess

[Q] I'm looking for a good call recorder for ICS

Hi everybody
I'm looking for a good call recorder for a sony xperia mini pro running a rooted android 4.04 ICS, no custom rom & no custom kernel until now (I've got it just from last week)
I've been recording ALL my calls since 2006 with a crappy nokia N70 (symbian s60) with an amazing app called "ultimate call recorder" by ultimateportable.
Never had a problem. When my mem card was full, the oldest calls were deleted, the app started and stopped automatically with my phone so
I didn't need to worry about it, only when I needded to look for a concrete recorded call for some reason. No beeps during call or other strange sounds, just...a good portion of code doing its job.
Now I've just migrated to android, I can play guitar with my phone, there are apps for...everything, but I still haven't found a good app who can even do a piece of what "ultimate call recorder" use to do in my old symbian s60 phone. At the end of the day, I'm using a phone...not a guitar, a game console or a music player. So I want it to do its job as a phone of this age and record my calls like the 2006 nokia N70 still does. It's amazing how a device like this can run debian & things like that, but what i really need for my job is a good call recorder
I'm pretty new to android and there's a lot of confusing info about this topic, I've tested a few free apps and a few trial apps and no luck until now, so thanks in advance.
Bump!
I am in the same situation mate. Have an xperia mini pro (sk17i) with rooted ICS, no custom rom or kernel. Except I don't have an N70
I've been using "Call Recorder by Clever Mobile" for about a week but it's a piece of crap (both in recording quality and in features).
I finally got fed up with it and spend am hour just now looking for alternatives once more.
All I found was this thread, and some app which doesn't work in ICS...
So, is there anyone with a (fairly low end) Xperia phone (perhaps from the 2011 range) who can recommend us a call recorder?
I'm using CallRecorder on GB. Don't know if it works on ICS. Try it!
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
they removed call recording feature in ICS.
I had a lot of apps that did that in ginger bread when i updated it to ICS none of them worked.
The only work around is rooting your phone and installing cutom kernel that brings this feature back to ICS.

I heard something about that. But then how come Call Recorder by Clever Mobile works in ICS? I mean the audio is a bit muffled and clipped, and overly compressed, but it records both parties just as well.
Regardless, can you give a little bit more details on this? What kind of kernel? What keywords shall I search for?

[Q] Implementing AVRCP v1.3/v1.4 for i9100 ROM's

Hi there peeps....
I don't post very much because I usually google my way to everything I need to know... but every google I've tried leads me to dead ends on this one!
There are many ROM's out there with AVRCP v1.3 bluetooth. Much respect to those developers!
I have a Kenwood car stereo and it displays Track/Artist/Album information when using Vanilla RootBox/AllianceROM/CM10 etc etc
But, the one ROM which I really love does not support this, MIUI. Every variation I have tried only streams the audio, no track info.
I have tried replacing all bluetooth related files from a known working ROM into the most recent MIUI (of the same Android version) but it just breaks the functionality all together. With Alliance ROM I noticed a service "Samsung AVRCP" when I backed it up using Titanium, I suspect this has something to do with it.
I'm no developer myself but I do have some programming experience (not android though) so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
So...
Q: How does one implement AVRCP v1.3 (or higher) into a ROM?
Bump

[Q] Is it possible to turn an old android into a pure bluetooth mp3 player?

I have this Samsung Dart , a 2011 rooted Froyo phone and want to use it solely as bluetooth meadia player. I'm about to install the a CM rom on it, but want to know if there is anything I can do to completely wipe this phone to make it a simple mp3 player with bluetooth. No homescreens, no unnecessary apps and settings.
Is there anyway I can do this? I've searched the webs, but no luck.

Hey Dragon poop,
you can search for a minimalistic rom (http://liquidsmooth.net/) or a debloated rom. But I think you won´t find a rom without a launcher/appdrawer.

Sound enhancements restricted in lollipop

According to xperia z3 users in xperia mobile forums, lollipop update has limited sound enhancements to movie player + walkman app and a few more playstore apps.
This is because the sound enhancement is no longer system-wide compared to kitkat. The 3rd party app developer has to include code to support sound enhancements otherwise you don't use it with third party apps.
Can any lollipop user open subway surfers, then listen to it's song for a bit and turn clearaudio+ off, return to game and see if there's any difference? I want to confirm if it's the same for us Z2 users.
I have done that in subway surfers using kitkat and it did make a difference in sound.
Bumping thread, I just need someone who's using lollipop to confirm if clearaudio+ or loudness equalazation works in subway surfers. :fingers-crossed:
This is important for me as it confirms that lollipop still enhances 3rd party apps' sounds.
Thanks in advance
I don't particularly have the game, so I can't help with confirming your query.
But I have tried it for the youtube app and found that the sound enhancement does not work. I also tried toggling clearaudio+ on and off and adjusting the equalizer while soundcloud was playing a song in the background and nothing was happening. From this I think that there is no sound enhancement present in 3rd party apps. It was not like this before when I still had kitkat.
Sorry if this doesn't help.
@Arunumeric
I requested info on that particular game because some users said enhancements didn't work for youtube in KK anyway and well it's a commonly played game :silly:
It seems like that was a false information.Enhancements work for me on youtube (on kitkat now) and appereantly it doesn't work on lollipop.
Thank you for confirming
Guess I won't be updating to lollipop until sony changes their mind on this or something worthy comes out (better camera software perhaps)
P.S. to keep yourself updated on this topic read what support team says. : https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...blem-after-lollipop-update/td-p/955035/page/5

Here are more informations about this issue:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22726
As the sony support stated this is not removed by sony its removed by android. You can call it stupid and it is indeed, but it won't change this in lollipop. There is also no plan to change this in any next releases of android.
So here is the intent every application have to implement to use a system wide equalizer:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/audiofx/AudioEffect.html#ACTION_OPEN_AUDIO_EFFECT_CONTROL_SESSION
you see its not a mess for a developer of a media player to use the system equalizer. This feature was available since Android 2.3 Gingerbread, enough time for everyone.
