i live in west london and i am prepared to pay good money if someone can fit the new touch screen once i buy it from ebay.

If you are willing to pay good money, you may also consider takeing it to a specialized service.

yes i would if they let me buy the touch screen but they always say if they fix it, they have to buy the parts and end up charging me over £100 which is way too much. i just want someone who done it before to put it for me

Dude first of all, is it just the digitizer, meaning the film over the actual display which has a split in it? If there is blackish "bleeding" across your screen its the LCD itself has has cracked. If its just the digitizer you can get on from Ebay for around £30.00 with the tools included. Im a mobile phone engineer and believe me with a little bit of tuition you can do this yourself REALLY cheap.

Cracked my screen need replacement for BA any ideas!!

Help!! Need a replacement screen for my BA anybody have a spare or know where to get a replacement screen for a reasonable price. Not sure how I broke it but there is a crack down the center of the screen and now it w'ont work.
I am really sorry for you. I cracked my iPAQ screen a while ago and found a replacement at ipaqrepair.co.uk....but I guess they are only for iPAQs
I know how you must feel
Thanks will check it out anyway and yes totally gutted I use the BA for everything like having my right arm cut off ,
Have noticed that it is only the glass that is cracked it is not bleeding at all and i think that the digitizer is only mlfunctioning because of the crack is it possible just to replace the glass panel and not the lcd display?
Try calling HTC Europe at 08712-23-0217. Leave a message and they will call you back in a day time. Just tell them your problem and see how much would they charge for it. I've got my under warranty HTC Charmer to them TWICE for some speaker/motherboard problem, and so far so good. Their service is better than I expect from a Taiwan company.

Yes it is, there are 2 distinct types of digitiser though, the sony and the toppolly one. There is another poster selling just a digitiser, I went into more detail in that thread. HTCEurope a: won't repair and XDA IIs and b: won't swop just the digitiser, they swop the entire LCM assembly.
Richard
Just been quoted £125 to repair the screen by a company called Apex, trouble is the phone only cost me £150 in my book thats beyond econmical repair if it was a car it would be a write off.I think it will have to be an insurance job (get a free one with bank account) unless someone comes up with a reasonable price on a used one.

The sony one he has can be 'widenend' to fit any LCD so it doesn't matter what's in your phone - just remove the warranty seal completley - the odds are they won't repair your handset they'd just replace anyway if you claim on insurance as they would have to use new parts - no trawling ebay for them to fix your phone....
Richard
Well guys sent my BA off to the insurance company and had a phone call today said they could not repair or replace it, and then THEY DESTROYED MY PHONE and then they said they can give me a cash settlement or the choice of Nokia n91 or the n90 what do you guys think, what should I go for? and more to the point how much would the cash settlement be as you can no longer get the blue angel anymore new that is.
Anybody been in this situation would not mind the n91 but it is not satnav capable at the moment and I need this capability.
Check the prices on somewhere like expansys, get the more expensive, flog it on ebay, buy a 2nd hand blueangel.
I sold a boxed MDA III for just £100 on there the other week :-(
PM me and I might be able to help if you need it sourcing one.
Can't fix it my @$$.....muppets.
They should not have destroyed your phone and infomed you after the event IMO.
EDIT - IIRC expansys do still have the [email protected] £600. Ask them for a cheque!!!!!...
Richard
Yes was surprised they did not ask me first but oh well still have the mini s just like having the bigger screen for sat nav loooking t expansys think your right I'll go for the money.
Update insurance have coughed up £450 not bad considering I only got it for £150

[Q] cracked my screen - need replacement

Accidently stepped on my tablet and now the screen is cracked on the corner. Where can I find a screen replacement and is there a replacement tutorial?
Did you buy the tablet with a credit card? Some cards offer insurance for accidents like yours. You might qualify for a replacement.

A member has reported he same issue before. here is the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894003
And he could not find a replacement screen. I guess that you should contact Viewsonic tech support to see what can they do or how much would they charge you?

i paid with my debit card. (I dont think my debit card gives me those protections)
@tyy10002 thanks for the link
If you cant find one anywhere else i would try a local glass store. A lot can cut to dimensions and maybe they couldd make one to custom fit our screens?

does you debit card have a visa or mc logo on it? (most do these days) If so you have the option of using it as a credit card or atm card even though both will withdraw funds from your bank account and to you it looks the same the two transactions are different. long tory short if you entered a pin at the pos then you're right you probably don't have those protections (I'd still check with your bank) but if you just swiped it and signed like you would with any other card than you should be covered.
I have a Cracked Glass Too!
I have a cracked glass on my GTablet as well. I ordered a replacement LCD screen B101AW06 V.1 10.1" WSVGA GLOSSY LCD SCREEN LED GLOSSY
and found out that I really don't need it now because the actual glass covering the LCD was the issue. So if anyone needs one, I will sell it to you what I paid $50 plus the shipping to you.
After talking to Viewsonic GTab Support, they basically don't have replacement parts that you can order from them. The only way they suggested it could be repaired was if I purchased it new like that damaged in the box, they would replace it. Or, I would have to find a glass company that could possibly make me one. I asked to speak with someone in mgmt and was promised that he would call me back within 48hrs with a real solution, but I haven't heard from anyone yet. So it appears that I am stuck until someone can give me a replacment glass screen solution.
Anyone out there have a better solution to my issue?
I sympathize with you but I think you are doing it wrong...

Shouldn't be to hard to figure out.
I have a similar problem... accidentally lost my grip, and now there's a crack radiating out from around where the camera is located. Thankfully most of the cracking over the LCD screen consists of large pieces, rather than tiny fragments that would tend to fall out.
Does anyone know if it's practical to try some sort of resin designed to infiltrate glass cracks?
I don't care about a perfect solution, but at least something to diminish the appearance of the cracks and make it less likely for the glass fragments to fall out would be great.

Broken Screen, what todo?

Hi
I have HTC Touch Pro 2 and today I broke its screen, it have 3 cracks on it now but strange touch screen is completely working without any problems. I also had screen protector on.
Now what do I have to do? Do I have to replace complete screen or I think I will just need to replace the screen digitizer?
Please guide so I can order it from ebay or if you could recommend any store from where I can buy quality products.
Thanks
Yep, been there done that. You have broken the digitizer glass most likely. I suggest that you get a LCD&Digitizer replacement from ebay like this one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Digitiz...172?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c62be3b24
Do some shopping around I only paid ~$12 for my replacement.
Learn from my mistakes and get the set. It is next to impossible to separate the lcd and digitizer. You can usually swap around the various kinds of lcds too. On my sprint tp2 I installed a at&t tilt screen with no issues.
It is not to bad of a job to replace, but the first time is a little nerve racking as you have to do a total tear down. There are videos on the tear down around online. If you live near Seattle WA, I can give you a hand.

Hi
Thanks, thats what I thought too, so your personal experience says its impossible to separate LCD and digitizer.. thats too sad as it can save me some money but I wonder why they are selling so many digitizers alone all over internet, and that is just for $8 to $10 with delivery.....
So finally you replaced both LCD+Digitizer or you were you able to replace just the digitizer?
and I live in Pakistan so I could only use help here or on any IM
Impossible, no. You will go through probably a dozen before you get to a point where you could separate them 50-75% of the time successfully. You will spend way less money if you get a screen set, or a phone with a bad board/esn number to pull parts from. There is an adhesive between the lcd and the digitizer (usually along the edge). The lcd does not have a protective glass layer, and it is sooooo easy to pull the lcd coating right off the lcd base it is not funny. You could tear apart the one you have as a free learning experience. It is not going to cost you anything but your time.
Saw this video

Well if its just that then its a piece of cake for me too, Im a technical person.... So what Im going todo is to open my mobile first before ordering and try to separate the digitizer from the screen and if I was successful then I will just order the digitizer and if I was not then I will order a complete screen set like the one you mentioned in your link.
What is this 1st Generation screen and 2nd generation screen... I have the international unlock version of TP2... which one do I order?

Dude... I really can't say about Europe but in my 3rd world Latin American ****hole you can get one as cheap as €12. To tell you the truth, I have an extra screen lying around. I'd sell it to you but shipping might make it much more expensive. Let me know.
I don't know, but it's very expensive I guess.

Cost of LCD replacement from LG directly

It looks like the best screen price is 89$ shipped and can be done in 30-40 min with a blow dryer/heatgun to separate LCD from the bezel.
However, what is the cost of sending it to Texas for LG to replace it including screen cost? They refuse to provide a quote overthe phone, and I don't want a crazy quote of 250$ once they receive it.
Or does anyone have any repair shops they have use with a reasonable LCD replacement cost for the E970?

it wont be a big deal to do it. when using a heat gun you have to be carefull. to much heat can wreck the LCD if thats not cracked along with the tsp (touch screen) im a tech at sprint and we are not aloud to take apart LTE device(sucks) but when you use the heat gun to take off the cracked screen you will either have to re-heat the adhesive thats still in there or find some new adhesive to apply. when you are using the heat gun start at the lower setting on heat. if it does not have the setting to do that either take your time in quick passes or use a blow dryer. if you need any other help send me a pm and ill try to get you going again. i would compare the part price vs. using insurance and paying the 150.00 if you have tep.
if you dont have tep. get ahold of me and ill get you a work around for your situation.
also if the cracks are less than 2 of them and less then 1" a piece they can replace it - cheers!
