[Q] Xperia X10 2.1 Backup & Restore Application Bug - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I found a Bug in the Backup & Restore application of the new new 2.1 firmware for the X10 .
If your sim card is password proctected & if the Backup & Restore application is killed - your SIM card gets locked & you phone will loose your cellular signal .
This is pretty silly because the priority for the backup & restore is 500 (No Running Code) so whenever Android kills it to free memory ..the phone looses its signal !!
Is anyone else also facing this issue?
Made a small video as well of the problem :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYjMikjC_tc

I'm experiencing the same problem, even if my simcard is not locked!
I have a AT&T branded X10a updated to '2.1 Nordic X10i' and then reflashed to the standard S.E. 2.1 X10a.
I thought I had this problem due to the 'unofficial update'... Sometimes (even more frequently) during a phone call my cell phone hangs. Also data and SMS are not working. The only way I found to reset it without rebooting is to set it to the airplane mode and normal mode again. This force to register the cell phone again over the network and makes it stable for a while. But the problems repeats...
My idea was to flash it back to AT&T and look if something happens...

Than freeze it with TB and unfreeze it if needed
Sooo simple

I have noticed this long time ago...
But the newer version included in the .24 does not have this problem anymore...

2.1 Update caused WiFi problem, Restore?

I recently updated my X10 Mini Pro to 2.1(O2 UK) and since my WiFi connects to my router and works initially, but after a few mins it will stop downloading data although the WiFi is still connected so in theory it should still work. My wife has the exact same phone, but still running 1.6 and she does not have any WiFi problems, in fact it is much faster than mine when it is working. I have seen this problem posted up here and other forums, but as yet no solutions. What does the update alter to stop the WiFi working properly?
I have tried root, WiFi apps, factory reset(still on 2.1) etc, but it is still the same.
Could I create a backup of my wifes phone(root & xrecovery) then copy this to mine and restore it? Would this return my phone to 1.6 software?
My other option is to flash the generic UK software. Is this reversible? Also does the UK firmware still come loaded with the Nordic keyboard layout?
I'm pretty new to playing with android, but so far I've had a play with adb and root programs so I'm willing to give anything a go.
Any help is much appreciated as I've already spent a bundle using my 3g
FW Version 2.1 Update 1
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Build No. 2.0.A.0.504
Well I flashed it using the UK FW, but it's still causing the same problems. Does this sound like a software issue or a phone issue? It worked fine on 1.6 FW.
My other option is to flash it to 2.0.2.A.0.24 and see if the issue remains, but if it is a phone issue I want to be able to return it.
Could I take a backup from another phone(wifes) and restore this to mine?
I had the same problem with 1.6, then i disappeared upgrading to 2.1, 504, and came back with the 0.24 update.. it sucks :/

[Q] Phone doesn't read sim card anymore

After a normal reboot of my phone, it suddenly doesn't read my sim card anymore. When I turn it on, I'm not asked to enter the pin code and the phone doesn't connect to the network.
If I go into settings and change the pin code, or turn it off, I'm asked to enter the original pin code, so in that way there's still a connection to the sim card.
When I've done any of the above, the sim card seems to been "activated", and the phone connects to the network, and everything is as it should be until the next reboot. Then I manually have to "activate" the sim card again.
The phone has worked without any problems for a long time with the current CyanogenMod 9 custom rom and my current provider, and I haven't changed anything that suddenly can cause this.
Some suggestions to what can be wrong?
Does the sim work with other phones ? If so, it probably isn't a problem with the sim. In that case, try a factory reset in the first instance.
If that fails to work, try a fresh/clean install of CM9. If that doesn't work, reflash a Gingerbread stock rom & see if the problem persists. If the problem persists with a GB rom, then it's likely to be a sim/hardware issue.
The other thing that comes to mind is have you flashed a recent CM9 nightly ? This might explain it working OK previously with CM9 & not working now. Obviously CM9 is beta, and something funky might be going on with a more recent build/nightly.
I've now finally managed to find another phone and another sim-card.
My own sim-card works fine in the other phone - and when I put the other sim-card in my own phone it doesn't ask of the pin-code and it doesn't connect to the network.
So I believe my phone needs a complete reset - when I've got the time to do it...
One strange thing is, that at one reset earlier this week my own phone asked for the pin-code - but only once...??
I think I've found the problem. Either it's caused by Avast Anti-Theft alone or it's a combination of Avast Anti-Theft and CyanogenMod 9.
I believe it's the last one, because everything worked fine during the first time I switched from stock ROM to CM9, but then suddenly the error with the pin-code occured, and I could be caused by an update in the CM9 version.
But when I restored factory settings on my phone and started again from zero, everything was okay, and I was promted to enter my pin-code. It was the same when I restored my apps and data with Titanium Backup, but then when I installed Avast Anti-Theft the error occured again.
Actually I restored my phone once again just to make sure, and it was the same - when I installed Avast Anti-Theft, I was no more asked to enter the pin-code and the phone did not connect to the network.
So now I know what's wrong and maybe also why - but I don't know how to solve it...!?

[Q] Z Ultra lost signal during use

Couple days ago when I was at work, my Z ultra suddenly lost the signal after I left it on the table for a few minutes.
At first, I thought it's just a random issue with the network and I rebooted the phone immediately.
But that doesn't solve the issue. So on my way back home, I did a full nand backup and restore the phone to the backup I made right after I flashed the rom I was using at the time. No luck. Then I switched between couple of nand backup I had on my sdcard and neither one of them worked. So i figured maybe I should use the flashtool to flash a stock rom back in.
Went back home and fired up flashtool and tried the following ftfs
C6802_14.2.A.0.290_Generic ME.ftf
C6833_14.1.b.2.257_euro-lte.ftf
C6802_14.3.A.0.757_UA_1276-6784.ftf
Still no luck.
However, in the settings app -> About phone -> Status
it actually showed me the Signal strength, and my phone number, which should rule out the possibility that the sim card reader is broken or there's any issue with the SIM card itself.
Tried searching for service providers and it would just keep showing me "searching..........."
Now I'm officially out of option besides taking it to one of sony's authorized repair center.
But I give my last hope to XDA.
Do you guys think this is a hardware issue since after trying three ftfs yet they all failed to solve this issue?
and do you guys have any suggestions on what to do next?
P.S. I have a C6802, and I was on .757 rooted when the problem occurred. And the IMEI is still there.

Well as the title says.
Just rebooted my s2 and now when I try to do anything it says "insert sim card to access network" imei is fine serials fine and even shows signal bars but soon as try to make a call to drop signal and network completely....
have restored efs folder and even dne a repair.
changed base bands
reflashed new rom
tried different sims(and networks)
and still nothing
Odd that it happened after weeks of being fine and then just did a reboot and then this all happened
any ideas folks as to next move?
please someone must have an idea or two. to offer!
Well looks like I have fixed the issue after many hours of frustration..
Still have no idea what happened to cause issue in first place..
What I did was refresh my original backup
flash original STOCK rom via odin and this seemed to have fixed it. Are there any friggin better loctaion for these files as took 8 hrs to down load the damn thing!?
now re rooted, flash custom rom, flashed custom kernel of choice and than restored back up
everything seems ok(though my imei is incorrect now as says 004999010xxxxxx ,but am concerned it will happen again. Had flashed a modem several days before and updated a few apps . but at time of the issue occuring was just clearing caches then a reboot..
