I reset my 101 and installed version 5 of the Google apps and performed the marketplace app fix, but Flash 10.1 and a few other Adobe apps still don't show up. Only Flash Showcase, Photoshop Express, Reader, and Tour de Mobile Flex show up when all apps from this developer is clicked. I tried sideloading the generic flash .apk but it was an older version and resulted in a lot of freezing. How can I get the Flash installed so that it works with the latest and smoothest version?
Thanks
The market fix actually breaks finding flash. Not sure why. However, you can reverse the market fix and then flash and some other items will show. Then when you get that installed you redo the market fix and get the rest of them. A pain but necessary right now.
Is there a way to reverse the market fix without a reset?
You can download the latest flash apk from this site:
http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/app/adobe-flash-player
Download version 10.1.105.7 at the bottom of the page.. that is the latest version.. the site has it listed under old versions.
Another site to check for apk files is PandaApp:

This includes only the Market, Calendar, Talk, GenieWidget and "required gSync" files. Any apps that are in the Froyo Market are NOT included. Honestly, this is better as it makes a smaller appInstaller package and its more compatible.
You can download the following from the Market -- Gmail, VoiceSearch, YouTube and Maps(Navigation)
SUMMARY
v5-Stable -- (recommended!)
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
WARNING: If you've installed this or other gApps installers, you may have to RESET to successfully install gAppInstaller.
Note: You may get an error when you first open the Market, ignore the error. It may also take a few minutes before the Market updates from 2.09 to the current version.
Download - http://code.google.com/p/archos-apps-installer/downloads/list
Copy download to your device via USB (if you didnt download directly using your Archos)
Use 'Files' app to locate gAppsInstaller, then execute/install it
Choose install core apps or choose to install your own packaged 'apps.zip' file located on the internal drive (not sdcard). There maybe a short delay after you tap an install button (its installing and you'll be notified when its done, about 5-10 seconds)
REBOOT!!
Sign into Market (Google Account Login)
Follow the Market FIX instructions below
MARKET FIX:
This will get you most missing apps from the market, except some "protect market apps" like NYTimes.
Setting-->Manage Applications-->All-->Market (Clear Cache then 'Force Stop' -- DO NOT clear data)
Setting-->Manage Applications-->All-->Google Services Framework (Clear data then 'Force Stop')
REBOOT again
Market Fix video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l-nySibzeA&feature=player_embedded#!
If you do this correctly you will find most missing apps like 'Copilot Live USA' in the Market. However, some apps require certain features (like a GPS or Cell chip) and will not show up in the Market. Basically, if you search for application "MyGPS" and "MyGPS" is coded to REQUIRE a GPS chip, then the Android market will NOT show this app in the Market for our Archos Device because is lacks a GPS chip.
MARKET LANGUAGE FIX (unverified):
Once you install the Market, it will probably be in English only. You may be able to fix this by putting your device into English via Settings menu, then put the device back into whatever other language you require.
RESET DEVICE:
Follow these instructions to reset your Archos Gen8: http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=42437&start=0
12/23/2010:
v5 released and appears stable. This is the last froyo version since the Market auto-updates and NetworkLocation works.
kenyu73 - Thanks for the update, could you possibly test a couple of apps for me before I wipe and load this up?
TweetDeck
Slingplayer
Moblox
Those have never worked correctly on your build and I use them pretty regularly. Thanks! Looking forward to results.

Both Tweetdeck and Moblox-Lite open without any FC's. I couldn't find Slingplayer in the market.
Awesome. I'll have to wipe and rebuild with this tomorrow then. Thanks!
any reason to re-install from v3?
I used your v3 (thank you very much!) - it worked well. I have Market + select Google apps on my A70.
I'm still missing some apps on Market that I'm unable to find no matter what, even after following "the procedure" - LauncherPro, AWDLauncher, etc. Frankly I can sideload most apps anyhow.
Is there any point/reason in installing v4? (I'm hoping for a "no")?
Kenyu you are the man!

There are some "protected" apps that we'll never see. However, I can find LauncherPro(free) as well as ADW.Launcher(by AnderWeb) just fine.
kenyu73, Thanks for your updates.
My A70 will arrive in tomorrow and look forward to implement your guide soon.
Please keep on fine-tuning it and share with us.
Bit the bullet and loaded up the new app installer. It works perfectly. No more force closes on tweetdeck or when logging into the xda app. Thanks for this.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the v4 is really the final stable version. I've been using it all day today and not one single Market FC and I can find all apps in the Market (except protected apps). I did have to do the Market fix though.
The next issue I'd like to fix is the Voice Search GUI issue. The GUI interface isn't as clean as my cell phone, but I'm not sure if that's even fixable. Even though we install Voice Search directly from the Market, it still just sucks!!
Just a short note:
If you have already rooted your device with z4root a reboot is never reasonable.
To avoid lossing the root (which can of cource be reinstalled using z4root again) you can use the App HotReboot. This app reboots the device but the "root" still exists!
BTW: Thanks for your work!!!!

Downloads Stuck
I followed all instructions. My downloads on the market get stuck at starting download. ANy ideas?
Archos 101
excellent - thankyou kenyu
one question from a newbi
when i follow the link - I see an apk and two zip files
how do i use the two zip files ? appsinstaller and apps
thanks Stephen
Just use the apk file.
The apps.zip is just the apks that you should download from market, and the zipped installer is the source codes. If you just want to install the installer, then only the apk should matter to you.

All the apps in the zip files should be down-loadable from the Market directly. That zip is only there for people who cant download some apps because of their country of origin (like Maps). Some may use it so they don't have to download those apps.
Best bet is to install the core apps via the installer, reboot then d/l that apps you want from the Market.

I'd reboot again. However, it could be your internet connection. My Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S) doesn't that sometimes.
Did you install over an existing Market install or was this a fresh install? If it was a re-install, as my instructions said, best bet is to do a reset and start over.
i decided to load some apks in the .system folder to see if i could get it to load my own apks to save me less time.. and in the process using this gapps apk vs the one with the GUI glitch worked very well.. like how i can download my own youtube etc so i have the choice of which google apps i want
These are the only apks that can be pushed to the froyo/system/app folder. Archos put the apk reference aliases (prefixed with a 0) into the read-only '/system/app' knowing we'd manually add them to the read/write test folder. Anything else in the app folder is ignored.
If Archos didn't do this, I doubt we'd even have Market access until the devce was fully rooted.

I installed the android market with the stock rom two weeks ago. I first used Zroot. I then copied the android market files onto my Gtablet but i did not place them in the system folders. I kept them in the download folder. I then installed the apps in the proper order and did the market fix. Everything runs perfectly ever after the latest update. So here is my question I can see my device in the android market, but it is unnamed and I can't see maker or model on the list. Is this normal? Should i be able to see a better description of the gtablet on the list. I believe i have a full market, but in can't seem to be able to find adobe flash or firefox mobile browser in the market. I've had to do a manual install for both to get the latest.
Ok. I bought this G Tab knowing that I would have to install ROMs, tweak .prop files, NVFlash, CWM, RootExplorer, etc. No problem there.
But now I have had it with this new Market. Many (if not most) applications are showing as incompatible with my tablet even though I already installed them. My beloved Word With Friends now requires an update, but I can not install it from the Market as the new Market believes the app is incompatible with my ROM. That is the last draw as I cannot play it anymore.
So does anybody have a market.zip that has Market 2.3.6 so I can go back to the old market? I have the .apk files but I think I need something that could install via CWM (BL 1.2) since all the apks do not work if you install them by themselves (they all FC). I would freeze market updater so it does not upgrade again to 3.x.
Thanks

Installed the GAPPS and it did not install the market. Tried uninstalling Market and Market updater first and still no go.
It looks like something is blocking the old market from being installed. I extracted it and installed it myself but it then FC everytime it started.
Very frustrating. This is the kind of crap that is going to kill android. It just looks like Google is purposedly trying to lock out aftermarket ROMs from accessing Market apps.
This happens to me frequently. The solution Ive found is to stop the market and clear data. After this is done, launch the market and youll no longer get the error. Sometimes Ill have to do this 3-4 times a day. Good luck.
Interestingly enough, I think I got a workaround. Through some investigation, I found out that the problem was that many apps were being filtered because of the screen resolution. So I started working with the density property in the build.prop to find out if there was a magic number that will make things work like they used to. It appears that I did find that number and it is 160.
So I updated the build.prop line with Root Explorer:
qemu.sf.lcd_density=160
After that I cleared the Market app data and the Google Services Framework data. Rebooted and everything that was previously installed seems to be recognized and the applications started updating again.
Hi,
When I got my tab new, out the box etc.. I'm sure I remember the flash program being an OEM install that you can't uninstall. However, when I wanted to try the HULU Hack, it was required that I uninstall the current flash, and install a hacked version.. so after rooting my device, I used a Root uninstaller and removed the OEM flash. (I've tried to restore the backup OEM flash that was created, but it's not working). I install the hacked HULU flash apk.. I'm in the wrong country for HULU anyway apparently.. so it was all a waste of time.
Now I've tried uninstalling the hacked flash apk, and via the market installing the latest adobe flash 11, which is fine.. but websites are still saying that I have no flash player installed.
I have since tried a hard reset without google backup. Still gives the same errors, and no OEM flash installed.
If I click on the "Flash player settings" icon, it takes me to my browser, and a blank page (dark grey looking) with no writing at all..
Using ADW EX launcher no difference, but didn't expect any..
Any help will be much appreciated.
Trevor
Just checking, have you got enable plugins set to always or on demand in advanced settings of the browser?
As your description sounds like what you would get if it's not.
Cheers
Hi,
Enable plugins was set to off. I've now set it to Always. Works fine now! Thank you!!
Hi there
I hope someone can help me or give me a pointer. The short story is that Google Play has reverted to the Android Market (v2.3.4) and I can't download anything from the Market.
The longer story is this...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, bought sim-free over a year ago, running Android 2.3.3. Yesterday I had a problem with Google Play not being able to download some apps. This was clearly wrong: I had 1.5GB free of 16GB. In the course of trying to fix this (ha!), and trying to find recovery mode, I borked the device further. Google Play reverted to Android Market v2.3.4, and some apps got messed up in random ways and consistently crashed. I uninstalled some of the crashing apps, but I still cannot download anything from the Market in order to reinstall them.
I've cleared cache and cleared data for various apps and services: Market, Download Manager, Google Play Services (odd that that's still there), Google Services Framework, and maybe some others.
The problem with the Market is that when I touch to download an app it readies itself for the download (moving diagonal lines on the progress bar) and then the progress bar disappears as if it's finished. There is no download, and certainly no install, but no error message either. On the other hand my web-based Google Play account says I've just downloaded it. And meanwhile my web-based Google Play account says there are no devices associated with my account.
Given the situation with Market, I can't even download something like MarketFixer which may help. I can sideload apks, but I can't find a (legitimate-looking) apk like MarketFixer to download.
I've never rooted my device, so I don't expect to have to do that to fix this. Before do a factory reset, does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks
Nik
Update: Solved in thread below
ah darn!! i thought i could help you, up until the point where you said you didn't root . If you rooted then you could just install the latest version of google play

Thanks for even thinking of that, dragid10.
Hmm... theoretically, if I routed, where would I get the latest version of Google Play from? I can't access the Market, after all.
There are a few threads in the apps forum here on XDA one is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932489
I also don't think you need to be rooted to install it. Just make sure you turn on unknown sources from settings(either under applications or security)
Also have you tried uninstalling updates for the market or removing your Google account from your phone and re-adding it.
Edit:Updated thread URL original one was a closed thread.

nsmith4, thank you. That's moved me a bit forward. I couldn't find a Google Play apk, and now I've got Google Play back on my device, and the web version of Google Play knows about my device again.
(I did try to delete my Google account and it refused me. It said it was needed by some applications and should do a factory reset instead!)
So now it seems I'm back to my original problem: I (still) can't download any apps from Google Play because it says (wrongly) there's insufficient space on device. I shall keep looking for an apk of MarketFixer or similar. This problem is now the same as the one reported here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436188
although of course I cannot download MarketFix to help me fix the market.
Update: That install of Google Play didn't stick. When I rebooted the phone it took me through the Android initiation process (asked for Google username and password) and Market was back in place of Play.
Looks like a problem with factory resetting every time you restart. That is a bigger problem. Google Play will automatically update itself (all update to com.android.vending will).
Try taking the ICS update (if you haven't already), you need a fresh install of the OS. Or you can root and install a ROM. Same thing

You say you "borked the device further". The question is, what happened? What did you do, and what got borked, in what way? If you don't even know, then it will be difficult or impossible to repair. The easiest and fastest solution will be to install a fresh ROM, like Gagdude said.

gagdude, post-mortem: No, I didn't keep a careful record of what I did. The "borking" is a combination of the problems listed above. I'm going to do a factory reset and upgrade to ICS, as suggested, thanks. Will keep you posted.
Mid-point update: Successfully factory reset my phone (Volume up + Power on, factory reset, then reboot). Now my SIM card isn't recognised (sigh).
The same problem, but with a different device, is here:
