[Q] How to change the NRG splashscreen - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

No matter which rom I use, at the very start up I get the NRG splashscreen. Is there a way to change it?

Normally if you Reinstall stock ROM over SD the splash-screen will be set ass default.

I have the same problem with the nrg screen too. Even if I task29 it still shows. Which means that task29 does not work.
I have the wp7 in, and that is showing the nrg screen at first boot.
So how do we clean up the rom? As task 29 does'nt do what its supposed to do?

Thats because the splash screen isnt stored in section of nand that gets erased, the only part that gets erased is the rom data part.
If you want to change the nand you need to flash a stock rom or flash a new spalshscreen to splash 1 or splash 2 section.
there is plenty of info about this. Just use search and search topic titles for words "splash" and "splashscreen"

ROM Leftovers

OK, so I try a few ROMs last night and the last I put on was the one I knew I was gunna keep, the Energy Warhawk.
Problem is the ROM before this one, AYCE 0811, has left a startup image I don't like. The very first image when the phone starts.
How do I get rid of this? I'm surprised the Energy ROM didn't nuke it.
You need to flash a new splash screen. I recommend the one below. Here's a link to the download, as well as a bunch of others.
LoL! Brilliant.

Install Splash Screen without loosing data ?
Dear all,
Can we install Splash Screen without loosing data ? (read no hard reset)
I've installed a custom ROM & everything tht I need...but a nice Splash screen !
If can....I'll love it
If can''t...well I can always flash it on my next ROM flashing.
Appreciate reply. Thanks.
You don't lose data. It's like flashing a radio. But it's always a good idea to do a backup first.
That splash screen is glorious, isn't it?
i love the flash whore splash its my fav in my collection. splash screens are basically just for fun flashes. its painless. no data loss and its way easier to flash than a rom. like FT said its similar to flashing a radio. no data loss, no need for hard reset. you can flash it from the computer or the sd card. whichever way you prefer. i never really stray to this forum unless im linked so if you guys have any questions about splash screens or anything im always available over at mobilitydigest.com/forums. haha and good job on suggesting the flashwhoresplash ft lmao

Yes. Very succinct observation. Which ROM were you flashing mate. Is this something to do with that ROM's components? BTW, have you run Task29? See if that helps. Did you try to flash stock ROM?
check my sig, make sure you have followed all flashing steps
Flash a new Radio, and run Task29.
im in the same boat as the OP..mine will flash stock from the sd card, i can hspl, flash radios and roms no prob but everytime it shows the white htc screen and hangs never showing any r g d info. im at a loss as well. mines a telstra and at the moment its got a stock telstra on it..im really at a loss. any help would be appreciated, ive tried a helluva lot of roms and radios with no luck. dunno if itll help, but it goes into bootloader perfectly, flashes roms and radios perfectly from computer and i can flash stock roms on the sd just fine...just hangs on white htc screen.
k so now its got the 2.08 hspl on it, so i tried a telstra stock from sd and this is the error im getting now
00018003
LEOIMG.nbh - FAIL
RADIO_V2 - FAIL
So definately failing at the radio, and if theres no radio there is no boot..correct me if im wrong tho. so i would assume the first thing the hd2 does when booting is run through the radio program. when i get a good radio or shipped rom with radio flash it still hangs. so is it possible myself, the op and anyone else having this issue is having a hardware problem with our radio? just a thought, and maybe someone who knows could chime in
i had tried again, hardreset, leave it for awhile, it hangs at htc screen, i remove the battery, now its dead, not charging anymore and no bootloader, haayyy bad day

thats normal if youre flashing from boot loader..are you putting the phone in bootloader first? if so just hit next and itll work mate. but if youre flashing from activesync, from the rare few times i did i do recall it had the rom info there. does it not flash when you hit next?

if it flashes ok, and hangs at the white htc screen then youre in the same boat as me..ive tried everything i know and can think of and i dont think its a common problem so not many are sure what to do..im gonna call htc and see about a replacement but not sure how itll work as im in canada and its an australian telstra hd2. the fella i got it from is a mate an tryin to find the receipt so if he doesnt im hoping that seeing as the model is under a year old it wont be a problem. in the mean time i hope someone can think of somethin lol..maybe someone whos dealt with htc like this can chime in..

hey buddy, do this.
Download stock leo rom. rename the ruu.nbh file to leoimg.nbh and then put that on your SD card. Place the card in your phone and go into bootloader and follow onscreen instructions to restore that rom. This will remove hardspl and flash stock.
After this and first boot.
Download hardspl, follow instructions and flash that, then after you have hardspl again try flashing the rom you like.
Lemme know if you need more help.

Do you let it sit at the rom name screen after you flash a rom, somtimes depending on the base the chef used it can take about 3 mins to boot from there.

one more thing abt custom roms that it should support hd2 tmous as well coz hd2 tmous and hd2 from other regions have slightly diff hardware configs like hd2 tmous have 1g ram while others have 512
one more thing did you try custom rom with latest radio????

Remove 2nd splash screen

Hi all, how can I remove from my HD2 a 2nd splash screen do to an old test of an PRESTIGE-X build that remain ?
I have make some task29, installed MAGLR and after some build of Android, i have reflashed via SD card the original stock 3.14.
But the 2nd splash remain unchanged!
What can I do for remove this? I have notice that the flash from SD installed only spash1 .....
Many tanks in advance.

No, before MAGLDR before. I have tested this build last april and from this test I have this 2nd spalsh customized .

Then consider your problem solved, just follow my posts in his thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10239678
Nothing, the 2 splash remain also after your flash......
I can't seem to be able to find such "Second Splash" , There is only first , the second one is replaced with MAGLDR ..
But if you see http://www.prestige-x.com/Download.php
(this is the site of the build that I had tested....)
in description of two last build is declared:
This build replaces all splashscreens with Htc's Splash Screen inlcuding Splash 1 and Splash 2.
This is do to the fact that your first release change these splash and seems that any flash can change that.
Since it replaces the 2nd splash, It should've replaced MAGLDR 'cause Magldr does not replace your bootloader but instead it replaces the 2nd splash (the one with red written)
I can confirm that magldr replaced my second splash.
Care to post up a vid of your bootup?
Here the video.....
hmm, and you definately have magldr on there? it boots to android after where your clip ends? and/or if you hold power all the way through the bootup, it goes to the magldr menu? (it should)

Sorry for my mistake: if I install MAGLDR I haven't the 2nd screen, but I have it when reflash a win stock ROM. The video is related a WM stock ROM reflashed after MAGDLR.
wait, just so im sure what you're saying, , when you flash magldr, it dissapears, but when you re flash a stock rom, it comes back?

Yes, you are right. When I flash MAGLDR I don't have this flash, but after, when I flash a stock rom ( 3.14 ITA in my case) I have the PRESTIGE flash. I have make a task29 more times, and flash a stock 1.66 and after a 3.14 but I don't have the original splash!
Oh well, we couldn't remove the second splash before magldr,so I guess it makes no difference, heh.
Sorry to bump an old thread but ive got the same issue where i have the 2nd splash and cant get rid to sell the phone on, anyone had any luck removing this?

this thread should be ended but unlucky people exist again, ME!
I flashed the second splash R.G.D and it's ok, BUT when I flash other roms, like NGR, the second splash R.G.D still there and I don't want it anymore and I don't have the same pictures like in the custom ROMs.
Before I did this crap second splash was time when I flashed just 1 first splash both of them changed with the same picture! Now it is impossible, all the time I have to flash 2nd similar splash to the rom which I installed.
How make it work back like it was at the beginning, 1 FLASH change both 2 splash screens? HELP!

a few options come immediately to mind, , flash a stock rom, from sd card, which should remove both and replace it with a single carrier/htc splash *however* ive seen this not work, on occasion, for whatever reason,
the other is make an identical 1st and 2nd splash, flash them both, or make a blank 2nd splahs, or flash magldr, it lives in teh area where the 2nd splash goes, perhaps that will shift it.

The only thing I can think may be causing your issue is if you have a bad block or twoin your NAND memory and it is not letting it save your your information and thefact that it has went through the set up. I would tell you how to check your blocks bit to be honest I really am not sure how you do it.I know you have to use some kind of softwarecto do it with your computer and have your HD2 connected to your computer. Sorry friend, maybe some other members here can help you further.
