I'm not sure if this is an isolated case or not but we picked up an Optimus T 2 days ago, got the unlock code and not for anything would it connect to AT&T's data network. I entered the APN settings about 20 times and still nothing, went by the T-Mobile store, they said go to AT&T. AT&T said they're not helping since it's not one of their devices (expected). Eventually after a few more hours of tapping away and staring at the Testing info (*#*#4636#*#*) and realizing that it was still tryin to connect to T-Mobile's data network despite entering AND SELECTING the new AT&T settings i entered, I found the fix by accident when I wondered what would happen if I used the Broadband APN
Simply create another APN (in addition to the first which apparently was a dummy or not being read) with the AT&T settings and it works fine! So I have 3 APNs in the list total, the original T-Mobile, the placeholder AT&T and the actual AT&T.
Hope that helps others as I searched the net for hours and couldn't find a solution.

What is the Broadband APN? Is that isp.cingular ? I assume the placeholder AT&T still points to wap.cingular?
Also, what data freq band are you connected to on AT&T? I read somewhere that Optimus T (T-mobile) will only connect GPRS data on AT&T's network.
Please share your obvervations! Thanks.
Yea the placeholder does point to wap.Cingular. I didn't use any broadband APNs in my final settings, it just helped me discover the need for a dummy APN on my device when analyzing the "testing info" screen. I'm connected via EDGE (2.5G) which is faster than GPRS but not 3G due to frequency (hardware) limitations.
Hope that helps....

my friend tom got his galaxy s like two months ago. he has a even more plus plan with unlimited everything on tmobile and he used that in a iphone 3g for a year with no problems and he could roam with no issues on att.
with his new vibrant its not working! it takes forever to try to connect then gives a error. the sim should be good since it roams in two other unlocked phones..
for the note, his phone IS unlocked... that was the first thing we thought of..
the error is: unable to select network.. your sim card is not allowed to connect to this network
this phone is a quadband phone so it should work.. we have put a att legit iphone sim in it and it works great.. what gives? why can't he roam on this new phone when other phones do? running bionix rom.. have tried updates, wondering if anyone has any opinions or info
we've already tried changing network settings with *#0011#, gone into service mode *#*#197328640#*#* with no luck
edit: we've tried not allowing the phone to connect to our local att 3G band (1900) and use all other bands again with no luck. the phone connects to canada's rogers network tho.. weird..
anyone check this out yet?? anyone got it workin? any reports would be killer ...
we have tried more settings through service mode still with no luck. when we specify certain bands and leaving the att 3G local band unchecked, it will not hop on T-mobile with the setting! Crazy! not sure if it's the rom, radio version or kernel but we will keep tweaking and posting results.. if anyone is having this issue or has concerns any posts or signs of life would be cool lol
Same issue
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution, but I've been working on this same issue since september. I originally contacted tmo about the problem to see if they somehow hadn't provisioned my phone/account for roaming. Needless to say they were not much help. They suggested I exchange the phone for a new one, which I did, and I still have the same problem.
I'm in a rural area of california where tmo has roaming on att towers. My girl has tmo service with a different samsung phone and she can roam on att just fine. She can send/receive calls and text. I even put my sim in her phone, and it works, so I've pretty much narrowed the problem down to an issue with the vibrant itself.
My phone is not unlocked, so we've ruled that out. I'm running bionix fusion with ji2 modem now, but I've had the issue with the stock phone before ji6, and after ji6 ota. I've tried messing around with the service menu the same as you, and I haven't got anywhere either.
I have been able to get the phone to at least lock on to att by adding the apn internet2.voicestream.com, and it will get past the "not registered on network" message. Unfortunately, it won't complete a call or send a message, it just times out after about 15 seconds and drops back to the previous menu (depending on whether I tried to dial out of contacts, the call log, or the dialer). But it does not give me an error message, it behaves as if the call connected and immediately hung up.
I had given up on it for the past couple weeks, but I have time now to try and work it again. Let me know if you've gotten anywhere, and I'll do the same.
The fix is: when you're in an att roam area, set your phone to gsm 850 only via the service menu. If your phone doesn't auto lock on the att network, search for available networks and choose att. After that you should be able to send and receive calls and texts.
after yet some more messing around, still no luck. it's clearly a thing with tmobile not allowing roaming..... because i read many threads off the gooooogle that say tmobile is pretty much going away and any "contractless" plans don't have roaming so they don't lose money....
dickheads. at least he's grandfathered in with a good unlimited everything plan tho..
even if all this said, if anyone finds any info out post!
the other day i was out of tmobiles network coverage and on att voice and edge not 3g. i live in texas
this is with a stock vibrant jI6
tried the app RoamControl with no luck. it uses different tmobile bands when in "roam only" mode. anyone have any luck yet?
I live in Toronto and am Fido customer. I was visiting my sister's family in Chicago over the weekend. While there, my brother-in-law gave me to use his Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545), which is a CDMA phone but also has a SIM card slot. I did some Internet search and, although the information is somewhat conflicting, most of the sources indicate that this particular CDMA phone is SIM unlocked to allow Verizon's customer traveling abroad where there is no CDMA coverage to be able to put a SIM card and use roaming. Or at least that's how I understood it.
Anyway, I put my Fido SIM card (luckily, in the same micro SIM format that the SCH-I545 required) and after changing the Setting > More networks > Mobile networks > Network mode to GSM/UMTS (the other two options being Global and LTE/CDMA), it connected just fine. It showed AT&T on the main screen (probably Fido's roaming partner in the US?). On the top bar it showed full bars connection indicator, with the letter "H" next to it. While in Chicago, I had my roaming data disabled so can't say if data worked, I also didn't really use the phone to talk (didn't have to), but I did receive a couple of texts from friends from Toronto. I also called my sister once (who is on T-Mobile). She didn't pick up, but later she saw a missed call from my Fido number. So I assume if she had picked up, we would have been able to talk. In other words, in Chicago my Canadian Fido SIM card seemed to have worked on this Verizon S4 through AT&T roaming.
Knowing that, I took the phone with me in Toronto. Here though it does NOT work with the same Fido SIM card. Shows empty triangle and no connection. It doesn't matter which of the tree options I choose under Network mode. If I manually search for available networks, it shows CAN Rogers Wireless, Bell and Telus. Since Fido is actually owned by Rogers and uses Rogers' towers, I select Rogers, but after sitting 5 minutes at "Registering on CAN Rogers Wireless", it says that the network was not available and it couldn't connect. I tried rebooting, wiping - no difference.
Can someone help me with making this phone work with Fido in Canada? Or may be educate me why it worked in Chicago and not here?
Update on this: I spent some time browsing the forum and now I have the phone rooted using Towelroot, also SafeStrap 3.72 and SuperSU 1.94 installed. SELinux is set to "Permissive". I have Odin 3.10 working fine and can easily go back and forth between MK2, NC2 and NC5, wipe or no-wipe . I was able to flash two other custom ROMS - DARTHSTALKER S4 VERSION X1 and Hyperdrive RLS18.1. Everything works fine, except I can't connect to my wireless provider. I tried with three SIM cards - Fido, Telus and Koodo and the result is the same for all - no connection, no bars (empty triangle), and a small sign next to it like "no entry". If I check under "About phone > Status", it says Network: Unknown; Signal 0 dBm, 99 asu, Mobile network type: Unknown; Service status: Out of service; Mobile network state: Disconnected.
Everything else appears to work just fine, inlcluding WIFI, GPS, etc.
There is one exception though - with the DarthStalker ROM I linked above I DO get some bars - floating between 1 and 4, never full. However still no service. Phone status shows the same.
I tried RegionLock Away v1.3 - no difference. Tried selecting different band using guides like this one - no difference too.
There MUST be something, possibly a very small thing, that's preventing this phone from connecting in Canada (remember, it worked in the US). But at this point I'm out of ideas. Anyone?

Yes, either manually or automatically in Darthstalker ROM. Forgot to mention that.

Hi I just saw your thread. I have exactly the same issue as yours. Have you fixed the issue? How did you do it? Thanks.

sorry, just saw your private message. my situation is: I bought it from the ebay, when I got it , I can use it in canada Chatr network without any problem. But the problem is one time I click the system update, then when I reboot the phone, it can't find the service just as you mentioned in the main thread. It's really strangle. Since it did work before. Maybe need to set in some place, but I never find the answer from the internet. too sad! :crying:
Here's my dilemma, I have a UDP and ordered a new phone from bestbuy and had it shipped to my home and swapped sim cards from my GNex to the new G3 (this allows me to keep UDP while taking advantage of contract pricing). I turned on the G3 and everything went as planned, including keeping my UDP (which I verified on my account on the VZW website), except that my G3 will not connect to LTE. It will connect to 3G and I have tried changing the network type to LTE/CDMA from global, and resetting the phone, and removing the sim, and putting the sim back into the GNex (which connected to LTE just fine). At this point I'm lost, any ideas?
Oh, and I'm afraid to ask VZ because they may make me switch to a "standard" data plan.

I also came from a Gnex ...and the g3 hasn't let me down at all. I've swapped sims with no issue btwn the 2. If your sim gives you LTE on your Gnex it should just be a matter of getting your g3 settings in order.
Have you tried manually entering apn settings? If not, that may be your issue. Here's a link: http://apn-settings.com/verizon-4g-lte-apn-settings-detailed-configuration-steps/
Also, you may want to search for 'Verizon apn settings' in XDA forums as well just to verify everything is correct on that link & because XDA forums tend to provide instructions and user feedback as well.
Good luck

Rrr...no you're no missing anything. Sorry about that. It only gives you the option to "reset to default" on the stock ROM.
BUT - if you take out your sim, power up the phone, then go to the APN setting, hit the 3 dot menu and it'll say "new apn", click on that and set up the APN from there. That SHOULD work. If not, unfortunately, you may have to get a different SIM from Verizon. Shouldn't they keep your plan if you just tell them the sim wont read on your phone? With Big Red though - who knows, right?
So i switched SIM's with my wife's phone and LTE fired right up meaning my SIM was "bad". I was advised to go a Verizon authorized retailer and to buy a new SIM there because they won't try to change my UDP. I went to a local VAR and got a new SIM without a hitch ($15) and no change to my UDP. LTE is working perfectly now. Thanks for the help.

Hi, I have an LG V10 that I purchased from TMOBILE. I switched to AT&T, and brought my T-Mobile device with me. Everything works fine, but I cannot get 4G LTE service at all. I have tried 2 APN settings, and that does not help. I live in a large metropolitan area, and I know that 4G is available here with AT&T. Does anybody have any idea why I can only get 4G and not 4G LTE?
Thanks!
This happened to me when flashing a custom Rom, the fix for me was to change the network speed to 3g or 2g then keep changing Ap's until you see you are connected to a network. Once you see that you are connected, change it back to 4gLTE. Let me know if this worked for you.
This is the APN I use and got LTE to work. It's old APN but it works for me.
Name-LTE
APN-phone
proxy, port, username, password-Not set
MMSC-http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy-proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port-8080 (In order for MMS to work with adblock plus, I use 8080 instead of 80 because using port 80 will cause the MMS not to work)
MCC-310
MNC-410
Authentication type-Not set
APN type-default,mms,supl,hipri (hipri is what makes LTE to work. Without using "hipri" I only get 4G, not LTE. No need to use "fota". It is for tablets)
APN protocol-IPv4
If changing to this APN setting and you still don't get LTE, reboot the phone.

Wow, i was thinking i was the only one with this wierd problem, i had a lg g3 tmobile with this issue, when i was on wifi for large periods and the back to data, the 4g lte appears like it was working fine, but it never gave me access to inteternet, then i had to revert to 3g or 2g, and when it connects and works, i revert back to 4g lte and works fine, until i get wifi, and the same all over again, but this only happen to me with lg on tmobile, i had htc, samsung and this problem does not seems to happens with that brands, so i tougth it was the lg g3 itself and i sell it, but now i get a brand new v10 with tmobile and the problem is still the same, and i donĀ“t find anything on the internet about it, until i see this post, do you know why is this happen? im on mexico, and i use my phones whit telcel

when i hit the apn unlock option appears a message that tells me: "apn has been unlocked" or something like that, but the phone stills the same, do i have to do something else besides manually enter apn settings from my operator?
A word of advice I have an unlocked t-mobile lg v10 and I have had the same issue as you and believe me I tried every possible fix and nothing worked until I tried this fix ( put your sim card in another AT&T device in my case my girlfriend has an AT&T iphone 6 and leave it for a minute or 2 once you see the 4G LTE on that device remove it and put it back into your phone and you will have the 4G LTE all the time, of course you need to set up your apn but like I said I spent a whole month and tried everything before I came to that fix because nothing else worked) I hope that would help you.
I totally switched iphone 6 SIM on unlocked LG v10 ,,,but i saw LTE for 5sec and then back to 4G ...
Don't know if it will work ..
Just a network access problem, you should save yourself some time and just.... Call AT&T customer support?
Or hit the AT&T V10 forums for correct APNs. I'm sure you aren't the first person to deal with this issue.
Yes u can have 4G LTE ...just activate with a AT&T 4G LTE IMEI

i have the same senario...recently moved to AT&T with the UNLOCKED Tmobile LG V10 and every thing works just fine with AT&T SIM except no 4G LTE and when you asked At&T they will try to convince you to buy their device to get 4G LTE signal....it took me a while to figure it out that u can get 4G LTE on an unlocked LG V10 if u activate the service with any AT&T 4G LTE capable device IMEI..... One more thing.. u are on your own to provide the LTE capable IMEI to customer service. That means don't except to walk in to AT&T store and borrow the IMEI from their display unit..coz they wont let u do that.....
The T-mobile phones pick up perfectly on ATT, it's most likely an APN related issue.
Hello, I just switched from Sprint to a Verizon MVNO and a few weird things are happening and I can't seem to find a lot of info or help for it. After sticking the new SIM in, it said it was connecting to "." and then it updated apps for "." After that, where Sprint or US Mobile should be located at the top left, it says "Roaming Indicator Off" instead. In the network settings it says the network provider is "roaming indicator off" lol.
The APN list is a dozen of Verizon related ones, and Verizon Internet is selected. I was told by support to use add a new APN., and it removed the long list of others and kept the VZWINTERNET one. The top left then read "Searching for Service" and I had LTE while it was searching but after 2 or so minutes it shut off and read "Emergency calls Only". I've tried putting the Sprint sim back in and fiddling with the settings there and switching back to the US Mobile sim, and it started to try to activate to the network but eventually failed and gave error code 6604. I'm assuming it was trying to connect to Sprint? Someone suggested taking a Verizon sim and seeing if that can install the Verizon personality on the phone, since it was still running Sprint OMADM and was in an in-between stage of being both Sprint and Verizon. I found an old Verizon droid and put the sim in. It got it to recognize as a Verizon sim, and now it boots up saying Hello Verizon, downloaded the apps and waited a while. Started to look good, it said it couldn't activate service but I'm assuming because there isn't any on it? Popped the US Mobile sim back in and still saying Roaming Indicator Off. MMS still doesn't work either. Also noticed I have a new APN, LTE Verizon Internet. I have another phone with an active Verizon service on it, but I'm not sure if that will work either. Maybe I'm more in Verizon land than no man's land now.. At least I'm getting somewhere.
I should also add this is on a Galaxy S9+ and was leased on Sprint, I bought it out over a week ago and ported over 2 days ago. MMS is also not working. Data, and VoLTE are though.
