I am wondering if anyone knows of a way or app that can be used after merging facebook and google on the vibrant, to be saved together on my google contacts. In other words i have contacts with different nicknames/ phones /profile pic on facebook and google. I then went name by name merging them, since not all merged auto, then set the default name/pic/phone/email/etc that i wanted set. Unfortunately this merger will only be on my vibrant and does not show on google contacts. It was no big deal at first but after wipe'ing a few times updating Nero Rom, its starting to become a hastle. I have attempted exporting to SD and then importing to google, which added ALL the contacts from facebook and google but didnt actually used the merged info i set on the vibrant. Any ideas will be very helpful.

I've had my Vibrant since September and have run a variety of roms on it between then and now(stock, JI6, Bionix 1.3 right up to Fusion 1.1, and an AOSP clone based on Bionix), all display the same issue. I'm not new at hacking and troubleshooting but this has me stumped.
I'll add my Facebook and Twitter accounts in the Accounts and Sync preference pane and let it sync my contacts. It will succeed at this and I'll link them up and fix any wrong guesses on it's part. After anywhere between an hour and 6 hours the Facebook and Twitter contacts will simply disappear from my contacts list, even the contact pictures will go away if they were downloaded in the sync. If I check the updates tab to see twitter and Facebook posts I'll only see what was synced before the contacts vanished. The "Get Friends" menu item lists the two accounts as does everything else to lead me to believe they should be there.
I am unable to get them back by unchecking the sync options and reenabling sync, I have to remove both accounts and add them from scratch and go through all that trouble again. I'm getting rather annoyed at this issue, I don't know if it's an Android issue or something to do with Samsung's modifications but it is getting old.
Does anyone know what is going on here and maybe even how I can keep my contacts list from depopulating itself?
Sorry I had to post this in general due to not having enough posts to post in development. Anyways the question I had was I just flashed the girlfriends vibrant to Bionix-v and everything seems very nice except when she goes to edit contacts it only comes up with the name current number and email. Theres no option to add numbers, picture etc... So was just wondering if there was a way to get back to the normal contact edit or if it was just built in Bionix like that for good.
That is on contacts that are saved to your SIM. Contacts that are saved to google will allow you to fully edit them. So just back up all contacts to google and you'll be good to go.
P.S. This post belongs in general, that is why they made the new rule because sometimes these types of post's accidentally get posted in development (which is only for posting rom's and development of said rom's)
Ok well thanks for such a quick response, I guess my next question is with google sync on why does it not sync contacts from the sim card or is there a way to get it to do that. This is all kinda new to me dealing with the sim card as I myself run a rooted Epic and have not encountered anything like this.
I cant say why it doesnt sync contacts from the sim but wouldnt it just be easier to move the contacts over to google?
OK, I found this and it worked. I hadn't realized this was an issue but here is the fix that worked for me. There may be an easier way (I would hope) but I don't know it. Hope it helps.

1. Open Contacts on your Galaxy S.
2. Menu -> More -> Import/Export -> Export to SD.
3. Menu -> More -> Import/Export -> Import from SD.
4. Choose to import contacts to your GMAIL account (this is the very important step!)
5. Wait until your phone has synced.
6. Open Gmail, go to your Contacts -> More Actions -> Find and Merge Duplicates
7. Wait and your phone will resync. (Optionally, go into Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Uncheck and Check Sync Contacts to force resync)
From now on when you create a contact, just remember to create it for your Google account and not your Phone!
This method does create a .vcf file of your contact list on the SD but that can be deleted with the My Files app.
Alright thank you I will have to try that method when she gets home and hopefully it works and she doesn't hate me for rooting her phone and losing contacts again lol.

Hey all, I have an HD2 running HTC Sense and am having a contacts issue. I have 2 accounts set up on my HD2: personal and work. I have two separate contact lists that sync fine. The problem I run into is that all new contacts I create always save to my personal account. I use a lot of business contacts on my phone as well, and it gets old having to go into Gmail for personal on PC, export the business accounts and delete them, then go to Gmail for work, and import them in.
I thought for sure between Google and Sense there would be a way to specify which account to save to when creating new contacts, and even better also have a way to move/copy them from one account to the other after created. But I am at a loss.
Does anyone have any tips on how to do this?
Thanks.
**********edit
btw, this was moved to WM from the General board... sorry to clog WM with Android questions (unless Sense is that similar between the two).
On my phone running with Sense if I try to create a new contact right under the name I have the account type where I can select in which account I want the contact to be created.
Don't you have this on yours?
Well gimme some dark shades and call me Stevie... It just says contact type: Google, so I didn't even notice it. *facepalm*
Thanks!
This is really hurting me so much inside I'm considering starting back all over again with a new profile. I love being able to sync my Facebook friends to my Android contacts but for the life of me can't get it to work back. Here's what I submitted to Facebook a week ago but haven't gotten back a reply yet:
On Android, go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > (Facebook Account) > check "Sync Contacts"
An error will show up "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
This looks like it occurs recently, maybe about 2 weeks or so.
The problem is special to my profile [email protected], because when I replace the account with my wife's account [email protected], it can sync without problems through the Facebook app
I've used another phone and I'm having sync issues specific to my personal profile only- [email protected]. My Wife's and friends profile syncing okay with the Facebook app
Android apps that relies on accessing my friends info are not working as well. Same apps working well with other Facebook accounts like my wife's. For example, the Birthday app, which is an app I use to keep track of my Facebook friends, is working well if I use my wife's Facebook account, but not if mine
I don't know if there is something I messed with on the Facebook web "privacy settings" but I have tried setting it back to what I thought was the defaults but the sync error is still showing up. I don't think the problem is with my android setup, because my wife's account works pretty well with it, and I get the same error when I use her phone to sync my account.
Any of you all experienced this? Wish some of you can help me out.
Sincerely.

Any Sense gurus out there who can help...
Under My profile in Contacts, it has somehow pulled in my old work number and email. For the life of me, I can't figure out where this is coming from. I can't edit it by clicking Edit my contact card. Can you somehow figure out what contact info is coming from where? I'm pulling from these sources:
Facebook
Google
LinkedIn
Yahoo!
I've verified there's no old work info in an of these places.
It's also using an old Gmail (or Google+) profile photo, and updating both of those sources isn't having any impact.
Not super important in the grand scheme, but weird and annoying... and I'd rather not delete all contact sources and start over.
Thanks in advance.
