Weird phone trouble - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did a hard reset on a stock android rooted and now the samsung vibrant screen blinks off and on while booting. I tried booting into recovery but won't let me. Has anyone ever had this problem or know how to fix?

Weird crash.

My friends vibrant, which I rooted and used to use, froze up and displayed this. A battery pull fixed it, but its the second time its happened on as many ROMS. the first Rom was trigger and the second was heathens sgs 2 clone. Any help would be appreciated.

I had something vaguely similar happen after a flash, couldn't get into android or recovery, had a really hard time getting into download mode. I *think* what happened was that my secondary bootloader got tainted. Once I reached DL mode, I reflashed the SBL and was OK.
So if your problem is occurring on boot, you might try that. If it is happening randomly with different roms, it sounds like hardware.
That SHOULD be the download mode. Connect your phone and load up Odin see if it shows up on your computer

[Q] hard bricked or what? help plz! :'(

Hi!
I have the samsung galaxy note i717, a few days ago the phone shutted down by itself while i wasn't ussing it, it read online that it was too much apps. i did the soft and hard reset and i had the same issue, so i read the next step was a factory reset. so i did it, and wipe the cache. after that, the phone started to reboot/restart by itself while i wasn't using it or wasn't charging... i did the factory reset, reboot it and even reinstalled it the firmware again on kias, but, the problem keep happening. today i left it charging for a long time and the phone won't turn on, it doesn't even show the battery logo, no download mode, no safe mode, no reset mode... and i think it is hard bricked. i read about jtag, changing the motherboard, or use a jig... i want to know what u guys think about this... i bought it on ebay and i would have to return the phone otherwise, so i'm trying to fix it by myself...
ty :fingers-crossed:

yeah i did.. i tried with different chargers and cables and it wont turn on. so odin isn't recognizing it
I've kinda seen comments that jtaggn is like pretty efficient but you would have to do alot and jign plug tht thing and c if it will wake it up. Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't depends.how bricked the note is i guess a more direct app is jtaggn

I've read a few posts where some users have issues with the power button sticking..
Try different USB ports on your PC if you can access download mode your still good.

JTAG is for a phone with the rom from another phone flashed to it. You can't enter recovery and Odin doesn't recognize it. It is the only way to bypass the boot and flash the correct rom.
Jig is for phones that won't go into recovery by software or buttons.
I think you have a battery issue. Trade with someone, then you will probably need the jig ($3.00 from ebay) to get into recovery.
well guys thanks a lot! but, i took it somewhere and the dude changed the battery nothing hapened and he told me i should just return it and i did. i loved that cellphone!

[q] fingerprint sensor not working

I recently purchased a Motorola Atrix 4G, its my first android phone and its been working well for a while. My fingerprint sensor stopped working after about 3 months of use. it first started taking long to recognize my print and now it just doesnt read. i cant even install a new fingerprint profile coz the sensor just wont read. I hope someone can help me fix this, but remember im still fairly new to the droid world so please run me thru step by step on how to resolve this. Im using Gingerbread v2.3.6.
One other thing, the phone hangs sometimes and restarts itself, anyone know a solution to this too?
Backup your personal data, apps, etc. and make a factory reset from recovery. Solves such problems mostly.

Like i said im fairly new to android. How do i back up my data and all. I knw thia sounds like a dumb question but some guidance would be helpfull.

I would recommend titanium backup for apps, sms backup+ for sms & call log. You can use your google account for contact list backup & recovery.
You can get to the recovery menu by holding power & volume down buttons together during phone's startup.

I need to root my device in order to run titanium backup. Whats rooting & how do i go about it?

It's pretty easy, you should search & read a little in the forums There is also a wiki page for Atrix.

Mine did the same thing. Had to get a replacement from eBay, cost a bit under 20$. Atrix is really easy to dismantle, iFixit have a detailed guide.

I managed to get another app to back up. I did the factory reset in settings but the fingerprint sensor still isn't reading. Or was i supposed to reset it when starting up the phone? Coz when i start up my phone & hold the power & vol down button it says fast boot & when i press the vol up button it says starting fast boot & gets stuck @ that. Suggestions?

Hold power & volume down buttons together until you see that phrase. Press volume down button again till you see the recovery, then press volume up to enter into recovery. That's it.

Honestly mine just died about a year ago and that was on stock Froyo. Since then received GB OTA and still no change. Now running Epinter's CM10 JB and still it's only a power button. GL!

If you have an International Atrix , you can try flashing Full Firmware Froyo in RSD, and then flashing Gingerbread 2.3.6
It will fix everything. But if you are using an ATT Atrix, you will hardbrick.
The one thing you can do now is a Factory reset.
Greetings,
Try a few other GB ROMs, if the problem persists you may have a faulty finger print reader!!

Your digitizer has died, you need to replace it.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
How and where do i replace a digitizer from. Like can i buy one online & how easy is it to replace?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Many many other threads exist about this already.
Yes, you can buy online. Moderately easy, depending on your level of experience. Some gotchas exist.

random reboots

Anybody having this problem? Had my phone for a wk and started doing it yesterday and did it 6 tims. Im stock nonx rooted on 6.3 metro mega... Will a hard reset help this issue?
Try tapping on the back near the power button. If it shuts off, youve got the same issue I did on my s3...
