I was wondering since I'm getting me a new archos wat would happen if I install firmware sde over stock 2.1? Would it install 2.2 or would I still have 2.1 installed just with sde?

The SDE doesn't install any Android.
It installs the Developer extensions and an Angström Linux.
So I will have sde on top of 2.1?

Dear All, I am using Z's Custom FreeX10-Beta4 2.2.1 with baseband 2.1.54 on my X10i right now. From the posts I infer there is a 2.3 update for the X10i as well. But somehow I lost track of all the so-many updates pouring in.
There is a Cyanogen CM7 RC1 v00x ROM out there, is it Froyo or Gingerbread?
There is a Cyanogen CM6.1.x ver x out there, is that Froyo or Gingerbread?
If I want Gingerbread, which one do I choose? And if anyone of the above is Froyo, is it better than Z' FreeX10-Beta4? Moreover, I have made a back-up of my Beta4 through xRecovery. Does that mean that if I somehow screw up with a new ROM installation, I can always go to xRecovery and make a complete recovery to my backed-up Beta4 without having to manually flash baseband .54?
A little guidance would really help me guys. Thanks and cheers.
ZR,
FreeX10-Beta4
Hi, Im not that good with all this root, custom roms and stuff. I did root my device though. My xperia x10. I got 2.1 rooted.
I read about everything with custom roms everywhere and everytime i read about android.
What is custom roms? does it enable me with my xperia to download a custom rom or custom version so i can get 2.2 or 2.3 even if sony ericsson has chosen to not update?
Thanks
Oh, And i downloaded something from connect-utb site.
What is it? is it some kind of new android version? it stood that it can be used on Xperia so... it was something XDAndroid
cant link. But search google for connect-utb
Custom ROMs enable you to have 2.2, 2.3 and so on, BUT with some drawbacks. Since the highest the phone can go is 2.1, the ROMs will be based on 2.1 and some things might not work (e.g. Camera,Videorecorder).
Try looking at the x10 developement section. Ask what you want to do in the q and a section and we can help u. But all the info is rite here on this site. U just have to look.

Before I answer to your question, I would like to ask.
Which Firmware version are you on? I assume it's 2.1 right?
You should install xrecovery (using flashtool)
You can JIT your phone. (your phone should be superfast).(Using flashtool)
You can even upgrade to Wolfbreaks 2.2. Just have a look at dev section

Hi guys, I just got my hands on a Viewpad 7 last week and I've been trying to update to Froyo since tonight with no results.
Strangely mine is running Android 2.1. (SWVer: 3.240, Model FM6-0001, HWVer 107)
When trying to update to 3.62 I get a "prepare failed rc=-209" error indicating it's the wrong rom, or that it is corrupt. I downloaded the rom from the viewsonic web site several times, from different computers and no change.
Any ideas? I would love to have Froyo running on it since Eclair is really buggy
Eclair :O How you got eclair (2.1) if Viewpad comes with FroYo (2.2) ?
