Hello Guys,
I feel kind of lost here...
I have done the app2sd process on my mini 2.1 two months ago, when it was new and I had barely anything installed. I followed your tutorials here and it worked like a charm !
Now I want to update to the new SE version (only if there's any advantage to that) plus I'm thinking of replacing my SD card with a 16GB card (I currently have the 8GB). And I want all the benefits from all the other stuff....
And I kind of got lost here of the steps...
Now that there are flash tool, xrecovery, JIT, App2SD with ext2,3,4 support, roms.... I really lost track and have no idea what would be the right order to do what...
Is there any chance that someone can just tell me what comes before what ... ?
Even if I stay with my current SD card - I have no idea where to start from...
Now that I have too much things to lose on my mini...
Thanks a lot !

The best order would be:
Prepare your new SD card with the Ext partition,
Flash,
ROOT,
xRecovery,
(If you are installing a custom ROM then do it now)
JIT,
App2SD.
Once you install App2SD you should be able to see your installed programs on your SD Card again.
If you want to backup your installed apps when you replace your card then you could use a program like Titanium Backup or even just copy the files manually.
Hope this helps!
Thank you
I'll try doing it in a few days
(As soon as I get over the fear to brick the phone )

Hi there, Just need a bit of clarification.
I rooted my G2 touch using the Goldcard method about a week ago and it's now running Modaco 3.2. I was preparing my phone for post i had just sold it via ebay. i decided to do a format SD Card without thinking. I got a message saying the SD card was damaged after this in notification window. After panicking a bit i formatted the card using my pc. everything is now working.
My only problem is that is this going to affect installing custom Roms for the new owner as i remember having to change something in HEX editor with regards to the SD card?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Ps Can i do a factory reset with a modaco custom ROM?
If you are running MCR 3.2 already then the new owner will be able to install other custom ROMS no problem as the patched recovery thingy is already on your phone. Dont sweat it,.... But you might want to let them know about the SD showing as damaged,... You dont want -'ve feedback.
Ive just rooted my phone, and did all the backup procedures. going to install a new rom.
was thinking of installing villain 1.5.0 froyd.
just wondering what is app2sd and do i need it?
Apps2sd let's you store android applications on the SD card so you can have more installed without running out of space .
Moved to q&a as not development
sorry didnt realise was in wrong thread. so it alows me to put apps on sd card, i thought that was a feature in android 2.2 (being able to save apps to sd card), thus was under impression that if i donwloaded a 2.2 rom like vilainrom 1.5.0 i wouldnt need app2sd. is that correct?

Well, froyo does let you use the built-in method, but the EXT method is generally accepted to be better, since your apps don't disappear if you mount the SD to the computer.
You can use the froyo method if you wish, but I don't know of anyone else who is using it, since EXT also puts apps on SD that don't have the "please put on SD" flag set since they're older, or the dev didn't want them to go there.
Up to you.
thanks guess ill use the app2sd method. just not sure how to set this up. need to do research
I have a sony Ericsson x10 mini pro. I'm wondering if its possible to move apps to my sd card, because the phone doesn't have a big internal memory. I heard something about having to root the phone, and doing something to the sd card. Could someone guide me through that, or tell me more about it? How will that effect the apps?
Thank you x
BTW, sorry if this is in teh wrong part of the forum, i wasn't sure what section it came under
I am also trying to find out the answer to this question. All i have been able to find out through search is that one has to root the phone and there is probably just one application superone click that allows you to do that currently for X10mini/pro 2.1 version. However once one has rooted through superone click, how do you then transfer all your applications to the SD card and whether its possible or not is my question. Hoping someone answers soon so i can take the risk of rooting.
There is an app that you can get at the market to enable you to transfer apps to SD..
App2SD and Link2SD.. just search on the Market
and also search the forums for these 2 apps, there are dedicated topics for these with more detailed discussions...
I've tried both App2SD and Link2SD along with a few others... none of them install on X10mini/pro runing on v 2.1. They require some sort of partition on the SD card which i have no idea how to do.

There is no. Of videos of partition of sd card in YouTube.
I m using link2sd and I feel its better than app2sd.
.
If you use Android 1.6/2.1 then you have to use link2SD.
Use this guide for partitioning the sd card
SD Card Partitioning
Or if you have gone to the new Android 2.2/2.3 you dont need these steps, because they are integrated in the OS itself. There are some advantages running 2.2 or 2.3
Good luck
Thank you all... It worked!!!
Used link2SD and created partition on SD card as advised by Tommylee567. Transfered my apps to SD Card. Only issue i am having after the root is that Skype is giving me problems. Have to take the battery out to reset the phone and stop it from ringing continuously whenever someone calls me on skype. I didn't experience this problem before though.
Anyways atleast i got my apps transfered to SD Card.
Thanks Tommylee
I have partitioned my ad and installed link2sd. However it gives an error saying the 2nd partition not found. i have followed all the steps correctly and my mini pro is rooted. Can anyone help? Please!!!
Hi I installed URUKDroid on my 101 quite a while ago and I can not even remember what tut I used. Anyway it worked fine but now my sd card has died and ive had to change it.The old one was partitioned and had aps on it ( I think) so now nothing will install. URUKdroid still boots but nothing will install from market and I have lost all my aps .
Can I just install stock rom as normal or will this brick device? or os there away to sort the new sd card out so it works again?
Install a new sd card. I would then try going into the recovery menu and reinstalling Urukdroid. I cant remember 100% which option it is but you can reinstall while using existing data. meaning you can have a fresh install with all of your data intact.
Correct me if Im wrong......
Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me out.
I'll start up by saying I know nothing about phones or programming so I'd appreciate your inputs if you have the patience to teach a laic
I bought Xiaomi Redmi3 and I'm so far very happy with the phone.
The only thing is I'd like to move some apps to my SD card since the phone only has 16GB.
I read somewhere that since the phone has multilanguage ROM it already has root. It comes with an app called "SuperSU".
Does this mean I can move stuff to the SD card somehow and not break the warranty of the phone?
Is there any way to move stuff to the external storage without rooting the phone?
Thank you so much!
same problem here

Hi, i recentely have tried to solve this problem. As far as i know miui doesn't support any kind of app on the SD.
However, with a rooted phone, i tried to use App2sd.
To use it i had to partition my 32 gb sd, with a first Fat32 partition (almost 20 gb), a Ext3 partition (almost 10gb), and a swap area (almost 2 gb).
App2sd used the second partition, the Ext3 one, to move apps in there.
Everything worked flawlessly, but when i rebooted the phone the MIUI didn't load the second partition (so App2sd said) and so i lost every app i moved in there, without being able to reinstall them (i recieved an error from the playstore).
Surely there may be a solution to the problem through the use of the app, however i'm not good enough to find it, and so i reflashed the miui and rolled back to the previous situation.
