Is JI6 update 1 considered stock? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, people often will tell you that stock is an ideal starting point for flashing.
I wish is to ask is thee firmware version 2.1 update 1 considered stock?
Thank you

If you want a "complete" stock Rom, look for jfd. Ji6 is an upgrade Rom, and it's missing a file that jfd has, which allows the reparation option in odin to work.
If you want the base stock Rom, get jfd.
"if you amplify everything, nothing is heard"

JFD is an out of the box Rom and JI6 is the updated but it's still a stock rom.

is there a way i can get my gps update back can someone help me
Use the JI6 ROM instead of the JFD one. It has the updates. Or there is a zip file you can flash in clockwork that has the GPS files from one of the leaks. That helped a lot for my phone.

It seems the only one that was out has been taken down. Here is the Official JI6 flashable through ODIN only.

I have a Deodexed JI6 that is CW flashable. PM me if you want that one instead.

*Clarification Please* Going from 2.2 to 2.1, proper procedure.

Ok, just for clarification.
Downgrading from a custom 2.2 ROM to 2.1 requires a 2.1 kernel.
Meaning I should first flash a 2.1 ROM/Kernel combo, before restoring my stock ROM backup of 2.1.
But, what if you use ODIN. Can you go from 2.2 Rom/kernel, and put your phone straight to stock 2.1, using the pit and tar file for ODIN found in this forum? Will using ODIN to go back to stock conditions install the proper 2.1 kernel?
THen what about my ROM backup that I made, do I even need to ever install that back, or will the ODIN pit and tar files on this forum put me back to stock?
confusing question, I know!
Yes odin brings you back to stock completely just like it was out of the box I just go through and install everything some people make backups on they're computer of the apps they had
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw

[Q] Need help getting back to stock to send phone back to tmobile

Im sending my phone in for some work so I want to get back to 100% stock with no root.
I have looked in the stickies, but I am not sure if I should go back to JFD, JI6, or KA6?
I am currently on Bionix (froyo)
I know all the stock roms are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
Problem is, if I flash this KA6 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919760
It is rooted, busybox, recovery.... all that are not stock. so do I then need to delete all that stuff.
Or should I ODIN JI6 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8511186
and if I do that, will I need to unroot, or anything? Will it delete everything off my internal SD, or do I need to do a factory reset after the odin to get the phone back to the way it was shipped; stock with no personal info?
EDIT: forgot to ask, if I odin back to JFD, or JI6, from my current 2.2, will it matter due to 2.2 kernel vs 2.1 kernel?
In other words, what is the easiest way for me to get my phone back to 100% stock either 2.1 or official 2.2 with no signs of root, roms, or modding?
thanks
I have ODIN'd back to stock before and it kept the info on both of my sd cards so you want to format them both internal/external. then flash t959jfd and the pit. that will have you looking like it just came out of the box.

so the jfd pit and tar? how do I format the internal SD?
EDIT:
I mean PDA and pit found here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
so just follow the instructions in the link and it looks like I should be back to stock with no signs of clockwork mod recovery, root or anything?
just load the JFD file and the pit. if you go to settings>sd and phone storage you will see phone storage. there you can click format sd card.

Urget reflash needed

Stupid question. iPhone user here. My g/f was experiencing problems with her vibrant so i briefly (real briefly) how to look up guides on how to flash to 2.3.5. Took me a couple times but nevertheless i got it. Little did i know i was flashing the UK version. So now ive been trying to recover and get the phone into a functioning state without success. I'm getting restless. So I'm a couple hours familiar with ODIN. So if anyone can provide me with a guide or links to the (PIT, PDA, PHONE, CSC, ETC) files needed to go to the lasted f/w that will work on t-mobile. She was running 2.1 but i know 2.2 is out there somewhere. Is there a newer version like 2.3.3, 2.3.4, or even 2.3.5? I just want to get it back to fully functional. Right now i tried to flash with Simply Odin and im in a reloading loop... Any help would be appreciated!!

Oh yikes I hope you didn't lose her imei number.
Did you backup her /efs folder, nv_data.bin ????
Hopefully those two are still ok.
Read before you mess with the phone any further, you lose the imei and the phone is useless.

Here is some stuff to help you. Just main points, you got to find out how to do it all.
1) backup your /efs which contains your nv_data.bin before you touch anything else.
You need root access to do this, the folder is /efs
Then PUT A COPY ON YOUR COMPUTER as a backup
2) find out if you somehow installed voodoo lagfix, if so turn it off before you flash nything else
3) find out if it's safe to odin back to stock JFD (eclair 2.1) from the gingerbread rom you are on now.
4)If safe, then odin back to stock JFD eclair 2.1 before you install any more roms.

5) This user has everything you need in his guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13132341#post13132341
Download odin, the pit and tar files also.
All found at that link, to get you back to stock jfd 2.1
6) once you are on stock jfd 2.1. Then you can 1st root, 2nd install clockwork mod recovery, 3rd install froyo 2.2 deodexed/rooted found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036193
I suggest the cwm recovery method, not odin.
7) Once you are back to Froyo 2.2, and you have a t-mobile signal meaning you didn't lose your imei, if you are still dying to run Gingerbread, message back and ill try to help you install it. There is NO OFFICIAL GINGERBREAD, the last official firmware for Vibrant was Froyo 2.2
Someone mind helping this guy with some suggestions.
He can't odin back to stock jfd, he gets in a bootloop.
So he tried eugenes froyo that doesn't brick, then tried going back to stock jfd, and still same thing.
He is new to Vibrant. I'm not sure what's going on with his phone.
I ran out of suggestions for him.

Tut to froyo stock from GB+bootloaders?

I've had enough of the spotty gingerbread issues.
Whats the best way to go back to stock , so I can go to something like bionix again.
I was reading something about mixing up the froyo with gb bootloaders causing a brick, so slightly concerned in that regard.
GB bootloaders should be compatible with froyo roms, I haven't had problems when switching back and forth 2.2 2.3
Just odin stock jfd and pit and use update.zip method to install CWM and from there flash bionix or whatever.
Just don't use kies mini
Read stickied guide too...
Safest method, Odin to stock and go from there.
A safe and easier method is to simply follow the instructions on whatever ROM you flash.
If you're going to move from an i9000 leaked Gingerbread ROM to MIUI or CM7, however, be sure to switch back to Froyo bootloaders or you'll run into issues.
