[Q] Some basic questions about rooting - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

My wife just got a X10 mini pro, and I'm aching to play with it. I've been tweaking and hacking my windows phones for nearly a decade, but Android is all new to me. So I hope you'll forgive me if these questions are stupid.
1. Are there any reasons not to root (apart from the user being able to mess things up)?
2. Is it possible to unroot if I want to?
3. Is it possible to make a full system backup before I root?
4. What is the best method for backing up the system after I root? Does Nandroid work with X10 mini pro? Or is this the way to go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878427?
Thanks in advance.

#1 You can lose your warranty
#2 YES, it's possible to unroot, z4root has that option, but i never tried it. Can someone confirm?
#3 I do not think so
#4 yup, with xRecovery, lots of how to- threads in this forum
Sent from my U20i using XDA App

Thanks a lot, HerrKuk (nice nick ). I'm looking forward to exploring the Android world.

[Q] How to remove useless application...

Hello guys, I just bought LG Optimus P500. and I want to remove useless application like Bollywoodji, news and weather, PNR status checker etc. Can anyone help me?

Do you know how to work with android?
If you are noob in this matter please read about android and it's ROM's.
Don't do that if you don't know what you're doing
Cheers
Yes, I'm noob.

+1. Before you get into playing with stuff, you should do some reading.
Just to get you started, you need to get "admin" level access of the phone to delete stuff. For this you need to root the phone. Read about rooting (GOOGLE it up) and if you think you are comfortable with it, just follow this forum and you should get a good idea about how to go about it.
But be warned that you may mess up and the phone might not even start.
Best of luck.
Hey guys, when you're telling someone like "go read" or something, please use the old fashion method and give us a link. It's really hard for Android newbs to understand everything.
The easiest way to root your Optimus One Android 2.2 is to use Z4root
But still, I don't know what to do next..
EDIT:
There's some information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855654&highlight=uninstall
And here's how you can do it too: http://jaxov.com/2010/09/how-to-remove-stock-default-android-apps-easily/
After installing z4root.
Install Titanium Backup from the market.
Open z4root, select Temporary Root, run Titanium Bakcup and uninstall the apps you don't wan't!

[Q] I want Gingerbread 2.3.7 for my X10...Need your expertise

Hi Guys,
I would like to seek you expertise regarding my request, im a noobie and its my first time using a Android Phone (SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro is my 1st) So far im enjoying my phones capabilites however, my internal memory seems to be insufficient and the apps2sd is not compatible with my current OS, i saw a dude (having the same phone as mine) and he is using Gingerbread 2.3.7 OS i was amaze and i asked him how did he upgraded his OS - he just nod and said "Visit XDA-Developers and you'll find out" So here i am humbly requesting your assistance in order for me to maximize my phones full potential. Looking forward for your replies....
PS - I dont even have any idea what "rooting" so im currently sifting the website to learn step by step....
Thanks in advance Masters
Fist thing, you need to do, is to root your device. To root your x10 mini pro, you have to install the latest 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware using SEUS or Sony Ericsson Pc Companion, then, download SuperOneClick from here and extract the archive. Don't forget to deactivate your antivirus, while using Super One Click.
1.Check that you have enabled USB debugging in settings->Applications-->Development. Than, just follow step by step video on the site, I gave you). This is a first step of "changing roms"

[Q] What will be reseted/deleted after rooted my x10mini?

Hello Sr. !
im new to this forum.. im just interested to rooting my x10mini. ive been searching answer for these question but not found any. so, im end up to register in this forum just to make this clear to me.
The questions are:
1) If im root my x10mini, did my sms/text message in GoSMS Pro,stock sms and simcard; contact number in stock contact, simcard; notes in OnePunch notepad, stock notepad;calender's birthday dates in EboBirthday, stock calender; stock apps that installed when i bought like youtube, market, etc will be gone/deleted automatically exactly after rooted?
2)If the answer yes all will be deleted and my x10mini will be like empty with nothing install in it, how can i backup those sms, contacts, notes, birthday dates and stock apps so that after root i just can restore these things in the rooted x10mini?
3)If the answer no that root wont touch anything and it is just root only, which root application suite well with x10mini and after root did root application just like other application that i can open and set phone setting in setting menu?
Thanks to all Sr. in advance.. Im really really appreciated your help.. Im just too naive about this root things.. I want to root because i want the multi-touch function as well as the phone running much faster than usual.

help over rooting xperia p

Hi all, I got xperia p for my girl (I use sgs2), it is a great phone, but I would like to root it and get rid of those useless aplications. And possibly to put some rom to make longer life for battery. Rooted my sgs2 but it was long ago so if anyone has experience abd time to guide me via skype or something step by step to root xperia p I would be very thankfull.....
Your question belongs in the Q&A thread mate. And regarding root, you need to unlock the bootloader to root the P, for now. Why would you anyway want to root it when you aren't using it? Your girlfriend might find it harder to deal with the root issues then.
Whel to gain more battery as now you can't uninstall some of the useless applications that are running in the back. And I use it sometimes, the camera is amazing so.... I had no issues when I rooted my SGS2, it stayed the same, only you can remove useless apps by titanium backup... So I'm just looking for a good person to help.
As I said, there's no root now for the P for locked bootloaders. You need to unlock the bootloader. And try disabling some apps from Settings->Apps to improve performance.
Wow, I cant believe there is no way to root xperia..... I thought android is android.... Hmmmm... so there is no way to put another rom lets say ics or better gingerbread?

[Q] why to root

Hello everyone I am a newbie to all this stuff. Let me wrap up my doubts quickly.
1. What are consequences of rooting your phone? I know it voids the warranty. But is it safe to give root access to your apps?
Does it safe to provide root access to apps and is it safe from intrusions malware's etc..
2. What else can we do apart from customization of the phone.
Please help me to get through this. BTW m using nexus 5 con android 4.4.4 not rooted( obviously :laugh
Thanks in advance
with root you have full control of your phone, without it you can use it but you will never have full control.

Hi, wrong forum, but we can still help you out:
1. No consequences - IF - you follow all the instructions and only use apps/ROMs that have been verified for your device. Using apps/ROMs that don't have a good rating or aren't meant for your phone can lead to negative results.
2. Rooting your phone opens up its permissions, therefore allowing you to virtually change any aspect of your device: the look, the performance, anything you can think of. We recommend watching videos on the Xposed Modules and ROM reviews for CM and Paranoid Android.
Good luck!
Hey thank you for kind and detailed reply even to wrong placed post... Given the advice, now m running CyanogenMod 11 and yes of course used themer app before rooting my n5 and again now using the same coz I just simply love this app...
