Hey guys,
I'm using WM2005 1.50g and had some issues with Radio 1.18 initially as other ppl on the board have had. I went back to 1.17 and now have different issues.
Can anyone confirm they are experiencing the same things as me? And are there any better Radio ROMs than 1.17 and 1.18? (even older version?)
1.18 PROBLEMS:
- Flight mode takes AGES to enable
- Flight mode takes even longer to disable...
- Flight mode randomly turns off (some ppl say when a reminder occurs)
- rare GPRS connection fails with "cannot connect to [gprsapn.com]" (every few days)
1.17 PROBLEMS:
- GPRS connection fails with "cannot connect to [gprsapn.com]" very often. Using ActiveSync schedule 30 mins interval this happens every few hours. Requires either waiting over an hour for timeout or to turn on flight mode then turn off again, or of course soft-reset.
- tap on [G] in top bar, does not list GPRS connection to connect to. Just says "To connect to either the Internet or work, set up a new connection in Settings".
Any one with further info?
Cheers to all the good work ppl are putting into WM2005, I'm thinking 2003SE is dying a slow death now. 2.20-[fully]translated may never eventuate eh. These problems listed above I never had on 2003SE so I know the hardware is not faulty and the settings are fine.
I am currently using 1.17, here are my observations:
> SMS sent to me seem to be delayed (not sure if this is a provider/network issue or caused by the radio rom; Philippine Smart users with WM5.0 and using 1.17 radio rom, pls confirm...)
> Sometimes when I power up my XDA, several SMS messages (lagged?) will suddenly come in all at once
> There are also times when you can't send out an SMS message. I am sure my signal strength was full. It just doesn't leave the outbox. So I move the msg in the outbox to the drafts folder then resend it again. Then after some time, it will send but will send it in multiple copies (depending how many times you have retried). This is annoying specially if it's an urgent message. Very frustrating!!!
**I hope someone else out there can confirm my observations. Thanks!

Here's the download link:
http://www.4shared.com/file/11851953/4c877d57/C_ShekharAKU35cR40P24_public.html
sorry for bad english.....
1.08 is best for WM6 I think.
No SMS delay, no SMS sending failures, no GPRS disconnection/can't connect, no ringing delay, no all in one sms get (turn on phone and 10123 smses comes, lol!)

how to change radio:
Put Radio_.nbf and Upgrade.exe in one folder and flash as normal. After flashing, just reset, don't hard reset, and get happy!
Remember that Radio stack ROM update is dangerous, fail update will make your radio unusable probably for ever. Be careful.
edit - Update: After a lot of testing - Don't install other radio that 1.17 on my roms if you are not suicidal
Old post, more info?!
hi. Sorry to bother you at this late stage, but could you explain what you mean by that statement regarding the combination of your ROMs and Radio versions that are not 1.17..?
Do you mean that your ROMs rely on version 1.17 to function correctly?
In which case, is it fair to say that whenever a new ROM is released / cooked, the chef should also mention which Radio ROM they are using also?!
Thanks for your patience
Ken Barwick is reporting new offical firmware release for the Vodafone UK V1605. His blog is here:
http://blogs.conchango.com/kenibarw...s_2F00_-TyTn_2900_-get_2700_s-an-upgrade.aspx
And the software is on rapidshare:
http://rapidshare.com/files/38302476/RUU_Hermes_VF_UK_2.07.161.1_6275_1.32.00.00_108_Ship.exe.html
Can any of you more techinical minded folk check it out - is it an offical upgrade? (can't find anything on the offical Vodafone websites). Too nervous to try it myself as my phone is a company phone. Anyway if someone wants to look into it and report back.
Cheers
Barney
Well I have gone ahead and done it - got too impatient to wait for someone else to check it out.
The upgrade went smoothly -
Stats as follows
After
ROM Version 2.07.161.1
ROM Date 02/06/07
Radio Version 1.32.00.00
Protocal Version 32.65.7020.09W
AKU 3.3
Now will rebuild with software I had before and test. Will keep you informed but all seems to be working ok so far.
Cheers
Barney
It's the same rom that came (installed) on my 1605. It's very good. Battery life is very good. BT on, wifi with a fair amount of use, backlight up full, 30-60 minutes of calls etc... and the battery lasts around 48 hours. Beats my T750v by around 36 hours.
Hello,
I own a sim free TYTN and use a Vodafone sim. If I update my TYTN with this ROM, will I then be able to install the iminent HTC ROM update without any problems? Will the Vodafone ROM lock my phone to their network?
Thanks.

Sounds like it is an official ROM then - can someone let an admin know to possibly update the relevent WIKI page. Wonder why Voda are using it for newer phones but haven't issued it as an update for exisiting phones?
Must say - no problems so far - all software seems to be working ok.

Since upgrading I had a problem with accessing my storage card. Appears this is a known problem with newer ROM upgrades (doesn't happen with AKU 2.x version) Have applied a reg workaround posted in other threads. If that works great if not I will go back to my previous ROM (AKU 2)
Cheers
Barney
Well the issue with my storage card is still happening therefore I suspect I will revert to my previous Vodafone firmware AKU 2.3 - Anyone know whether reverting will be a problem as I read somewhere that the bootloader or something like that will not allow you to revert to a previous rom. Anyone know if this is an issue?
Cheers
Barney
Loaded this on my v1605. (Well, actually I extracted the ROM, Ext ROM and Radio so as to continue running with Hard-SPL.)
Anyway, works fine for me. But the protocol version is actually 32.65.7020.09H (i.e. with HSDPA). I think the previous Vodafone radio had a protocol ending in W.
Also I had some problems with my storage card but I found that putting into a card reader and re-formatting as FAT32 on a Windows computer did the trick. The card was originally FAT16. (Curiously a FAT32 format on my Mac failed to fix it...)
Initial impressionis AKU 3.3 is fantastic and I'll be sticking with this ROM. New radio also seems to give me much better reception and call connection reliability, so far. I might try radio 1.38 in due course once I have a better idea of how this one is performing.

Thats weird because I just checked and mine definately has a "W" at the end not an "H". Wonder how that can be?
As for reformatting it as FAT32 - how long has that been workign for now. Seems some of these fixes like the reg fix or the FAT 32 fix work for some people and not for others

Okay, I found my first problem with this firmware: Vodafone Mail (242) voicemail icon alerts no longer work. The SMS alert doesn't seem to come through either. So no audio/vibrate alert either. D'oh!
On the other hand there is a new "VMail" Today screen plugin which does show you how many voicemails you have waiting. I guess the software is automatically processing the SMS alerts rather than treating them as normal voicemail messages. Which is an improvement (I always resented having to delete the old SMS notifications) but I'd still like to have the option of having an audio/vibrate alert for new voicemails (useful when you have call waiting disabled) as well as the spool icon which saves on Today screen space.
The protocol version thing is wierd. I definitely have HSDPA now - an "H" logo appears in place of the 3G one when I use data. Are there perhpas two variants of this ROM image circulating? I got mine from the Rapidshare link above.
Hey guys...
Sorry I was late on responding to this...
I can say that this ROM IS the official one, Vodafone are still trying to work a way on advertising and delivering you the ROM's...
On the case of the H and 3G logo's on the top bar. This is to indicate that you have HSDPA enabled coverage or 3G coverage.
I personal haven't updated to this version due to a number of reasons, so you'll have to let me know if you can make calls when the H is shown, in the States I could with the old ROM but not over here...
As for the Voice Mail, if that is the case removing them after delivery is a school boy error!!! tsk, tsk!!!

Did you allow the Ext ROM to run? I believe that VF use a cab in there to turn on the voice mail notifications (part of the service indiciation security policy)

Yes, I installed the new VF Ext ROM and allowed it to run. I might take a look at it's contents to see if I can manually run it again. (Not keen on doing a hard reset as it took me a couple of hours to reconfigure all my apps and seetings after the ROM update.)

You're right! I can't make calls when the H is shown! After several attemps H is replaced by 3G and call goes through.
Incidentally it only seems to go into HSDPA mode as and when I initiate a data connection. During the course of the connection it will often switch back to 3G and, without fail, does so after the connection is dropped (manually). Is this normal behaviour?
Previously (with the factory-provided Vodafone ROM) I didn't get an 'H', and my ROM version ended in W, implying no HSDPA. Nevertheless I did have SetHSDPA enabled using the fit4cat HTweakC and there were often times (in 3G coverage) when I couldn't make calls until after several attempts.
I definitely have the W version. Got it from rapidshare, no idea why it is different to yours. No problems with making calls. I used set hsdp to on but the icon still says 3g however downloads at 1.2mb so definitely switched on. No problems at all with voice mail icon, works completely as normal. Only issue is still with the storage card. Drives me bananas.
Cheers

I rang Vodafone about the voicemail problem. They've said they'll send me a replacement handset on Monday! Will be interesting to see what the firmware version on that one is.
Okay, this is really wierd. I tried doing a hard-reset and now the voicemail problem is gone! Plus I checked the Device Information and the Radio ROM version has changed to the 'W' version. As with Barneyabz there is no 'H' icon to indicate HSDPA but now calls can actually be made when HSDPA is enabled.
Why should the hard reset have made any difference?
And the VMail today screen plugin no longer works now that the spool icon and text alerts are working again. I really don't understand.
Okay I've done some more investigating... I flashed another Radio ROM (1.43, Protocol 'H') and found I had the same voicemail and HSDPA calls problem. I then did a hard reset and found it was fixed with the protocol (and behaviour) had changed to 'W'.
I can only assume that there is some customisation in the extended that changes this. Yet I ha dprevious tried manually running the auto-customisations from extended rom without any joy.
I might do some further digging. (Probably not just yet, however!)
I have seen many, many threads about POST installation issues regarding the new 3.16 rom. I would like to attempt a problem/resolution thread that hopefully everyone will participate in order to create a "one-stop-shopping" thread regarding these issues.
I figure the mods will later either delete dormant threads or compile related threads into one. Hopefully we can get most if not all issues related to post installation here and properly labeled...
Please post problem(s) and if applicable, the resolution(s) to the problem regarding the 3.16 rom w/ Rev. A & GPS compatibility, including custom & stock rom. Please keep the thread limited to calls, data ( Rev. A & 0 plus Ev & 1X), task bar icons, prl's, etc and refer GPS questions/issues to threads like TalynOne's The Titan Internal GPS FAQ (01/30/2008) located here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363431
I have included below some links to start off the thread which includes a link to the definition of what the PRL is and what it does and below that is a site with former & current PRL's for numerous carriers.

I flashed this ROM and I have since, jumped to DCDs version of it, and then back to 2.17.
I have, and apparently, a lot of folks have had inconsistent EVDO connection problems. Some times it freezes on "Loading"...other times, I can begin to pull up a web page and it times out. Speeds were good when it rarely did work properly.
The odd thing is that I have loaded new ROMS (including the current Sprint OEM ROM) and I'm still having that problem. (I'm taking suggestions to resolve this)
Also, like others, voice signal displayed fewer bars than usual. More "Signal Faded, Call lost than I have ever seen with this device.
On a kinda more positive note...
GPS worked well (when the EVDO connection did)
New Apps sucked up more of our previous RAM, but I didn't have any
latency or freeze ups.
I myself am experiencing a number of problems with the new ROM version, and will be downgrading to 2.17 soon. It took 3 installations of the new ROM to get the GPS to work. Since then, I've experienced several performance issues, including multiple times where the phone will freeze during web browsing in Opera Mobile. Sometimes, the phone won't even freeze, but will come up with a screen saying that the system memory is low, even when I'm only running Opera Mobile, it'll ask me to close either "Opera Mobile" "Phone" "Phone" or "Phone". Weird? I think so...
Also, there are times where I won't even get the internet to work. I'll have to either go in to the connections menu and disable the data connection, or do a soft reset of the phone completely.
In my opinion, it's probably more trouble than I really need to go through. I will be downgrading to 2.17 until the official release comes out.
Same issues for me:
inconsistent EVDO connection problems. Some times it freezes on "Loading"...other times, I can begin to pull up a web page and it times out. Speeds were good when it rarely did work properly.

Spent 30 min with VZW level 2 support today. I called due to ##debug HDR an/aaa was = 0.. I was under the impression was supposed to be set to 1. They did look at my SSDR (I think he said that) and found it had a small issue with the authentication (still reads =0), but after he fixed that I still have issues. My HDR RDX power goes from -71db to -96db.
I also noticed every time I call the phone changes from EV to 1x. I know you don't use EV to make voice calls, but I did not remember (key word) seeing it switch like that before. Maybe someone with 2.17 1.40 radio can confirm.
I have thought about moving back too, but my call ticket history is getting pretty long with VZW and if I needed another A-key (yes I have one written down) it may start to look strange.
I'm on sprint and when I tried to update I was stuck on boot loader so I went online and switched esn over to my Treo for the time being as I worked on my Mogul. Eventually I got to load the rom fully and switched esn back. I noticed afterwards that my internet was only locking at 1x. Upon restart it would say EV but anytime it is connected to the net it is 1x. DSLreports clocked it at 50-90kbps so I know as definitely getting 1x speed. Reloaded the rom several times and still the same. This went on for 2 days. Eventually called Sprint and told them of my problem. They noticed that I was still on the regular Vision plan but I have always been able to connect to EVDO speeds so I never thought that was an issue. They updated me to Power Vision and right after I started getting EVDO speeds. I'm not sure if it was because of the change or maybe a restart of my data service that did the trick.
2 other issues I'm having is I noticed my phone is a little slow with this ROM. Opening programs etc. Sometimes the program using GPS like Live Search or GPS Viewer will lock up temporarily. The 2nd issue is what some are also reporting regarding signal. I noticed I get 1 to 2 less signal bars.
Overall 3.16 has been "ok". No problems with flashing really, and memory usage is "ok", I'm averaging around 17-18mb free with no apps running. It's not exactly the 20-22mb I had free with my prior custom rom, but enough to get by.
I'm not having problems with phone freezes or out of memory errors. I am, however, having some problems with BT and with net connectivity.
Data: I'm using Schap's Advanced config tool, version 1.1, and I've selected the option to keep my 'net connection live all the time. Unfortunately, this is not working, and I'm finding that throughout the day my connection goes down. With my prior custom rom, if I was streaming audio content over evdo or 1x, the connection would stay alive as long as the audio program was running, barring a loss of cell signal. Now I'm finding that about once an hour my data connection goes down and interrupts my audio stream.
BT: I have a Plantronics 320 headset, which worked flawlessly (albeit with less than stellar audio quality) with my prior rom. With 3.16, the volume and sound quality are much improved, BUT I am not able to answer calls on my headset. If I initiate a call with BT on, no problems, I can talk till the call is over, then press the headset hard button to hang up. If I *receive* a call, however, when I press the headset hard button to answer, the call is answered, but the audio is not directed to the headset. Instead, it routes to the handset.
GPS works well with TeleNav, GoogleMaps, Live, and generally locks onto 5-7 satellites within about 60 seconds if I'm somewhere with a clear view of the sky.
I tried using GPS2Blue to redirect the GPS data to a BT comm port. When I have BT enabled and attempt to redirect, GPS2Blue says BT port not open, waiting for BT port to open. If I go into comm manager and turn BT off, then GPS2Blue says BT port is open, and begins to wait for a BT connection to my laptop. If I go back into comm manager, the BT icon has been grayed out as if BT is off, but the little circled "X" icon is not superimposed over the BT icon as it would be when BT is off. If I click the icon again, it acts as if BT is being enabled, but the icon doesn't change, and the BT LED does not begin to blink. Don't know if it's a problem with GPS2Blue software or something else. Wish it would work cleanly, I'd love to use my 6800 as a BT GPS receiver for my laptop.
ETA: I've seen a few folks mention that when they answer a voice call their 6800 switches from Evdo to 1X. I'm wondering if this might be a way of implementing simultaneous voice & data. Has anyone tried taking a call and browsing the web simultaneously? I think this may be dependant upon network services in your area, so this may only work for folks in big cities with the most advanced network features, if it works at all...
ETA2: Just tried the above, and I'm getting the usual message that data connections cannot be initiated while on a voice call. I'm in a large city that *should* have all the latest network features, so if it dual voice/data was possible with this radio then it should work here. I'm assuming it's not presently possible, based on my experiment, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
with the sprint rom a ton of us have no audio out using an adaptor to listen through headphones
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363087
is a big thread about this going on the main board.
Took the plunge and installed the "stock" 3.16 on both my phone and a friend's last night. The first thing I want to note is that it went extremely smooth. No issues to note. It took a bit too long for my liking but it was fine. I didn't have to modify any MSID or MSN data - my phone worked fine right off the bat. Data was hosed, but a quick client-initiated IOTA Programming fixed that. (Settings, Personal, Phone, Services, Internet, Get Settings)
I have two constantly pinging(one 15 mins, one 30) e-mail accounts(one imap, one Exchange) that must keep my data connection alive. I haven't noticed a single decline in my data rate, nor a problem with disconnections. Then again, I live in NYC, which may make a difference.
GPS sucked last night - I couldn't get a satellite to save my life. On the way to work today, though, it was perfect. 4 satellites found in GMaps and tracking worked great.
I'm pretty happy w/the new additions to PocketOutlook too. Has anyone noticed that Gmail's IMAP works perfectly now, and that when you have multiple accounts - hitting messaging (when it's previously closed) brings up a choice of which account to go to? SWEET!
Just a quick "me too" regarding both disconnects and getting hung up during certain downloads. I've noticed that both "Live Search" from Microsoft's site and the latest (2.17) OEM ROM from HTC's site both hang up soon after they start downloading. This occurs both on the phone itself and while tethering to my laptop.

So the phone made me out to be a liar. The LiveSearch download from wls.live.com failed now. It definitely worked last night on my roommate's phone however. Hrm. I downloaded it from my pc and emailed it to myself and it actually downloaded. That's odd.

Had trouble getting my phone to flash, because I flashed the radio before the rom. Once I got phone going is working perfect. Hooked up to pda net on laptop downloading at 1.7 uploading at 500K. Use Holux to get gps started all programs work, Tom Tom is more accurate with my mogul compared to the external gps. Have not tried my s9 headphones yet. Running the DCD beta and I have no complaints except for the memory. Phone quality is the same.
v3.16+ ROM puts a voicemail icon on the 1 key which screws up the keypad if you are using the BlueFrog Big Button Dialer. To fix this, change the registry DWORD value at
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\EnableVoicemailIcon
from 1 to 0, and soft reset.
I was running Custels V1.1 2.14 and radio 1.47.00. I had my data set to connect all the time (which never idled btw...)and had Ev service everywhere. After installing Dcd's 3.16 & radio 3.27 I first recieved the "twin towers"... One had data connection and the other looked like the searching-for-signal tower. Plus my roam indicator was constanlty blinking.
After searching the forums, a helpful soul recommended *228 then press 3 which programs your phone. Remember that you are not upgrading to a new phone.
I then *228 and pressed 2 this time to program the latest PRL (which was 30029 before and still then). After searching some more, I saw that there was indeed a newer PRL which is 40029 (link in the first thread). I downloaded the PRL to my Sd card, dialed **775, entered my Alltel Unlock Code of 000000 and and the first screen I saw was update prl. Click on "Menu" in bottom right and hit the "Edit" button. Now you should see a empty value with "Browse" below it. Browse to the location where you placed your prl, upload and if you exit out correctly, you should be soft resetting your device.
After completeing the steps above, my roaming triangle was gone as well as the extra tower. I still have my data constantly on with Ev coverage all the time but my data actually idles now. Call quality has been noticed by myself and others as clearer and louder than before.
That Reg Entry doesnt exist on mine.

Mine has the following instead:
"HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\VoicemailIcon
Value name:BtnDN_LAND Value data:Windows\_VoicemailBtn1_Land.bmp" and three other similars.
Should that entry be added in it's entirety or should I remove my current entries? Any body else find they have entries like mine?
I thought I had that problem at first, but when I looked more closely, the reg entry is *in* the CDMA folder, not in a sub-folder below CDMA.

I don't know if this only affects the Verizon ROM or all carriers for that matter. Is there any one here that has a fix or know's of a fix to resolve this issue? Has DCD released any news on this? I would Gladly appreciate it, as all the people with this issue.
Searching For Service
I loaded the Sprint Test Rom. No when ever I boot my phone it takes ~4 minutes for the phone to lock onto the network.
You are may differ with this situation....
PRL's didn't change. Even reloaded 60610. EVDO roaming is gone. Guess they didn't like people forcing their phone to roaming in areas where Alltel has EVDO and Sprint doesn't. 60611 also removed EVDO roaming in my area. 60610 and 2.17 work fine with EVDO roaming.
CardExport & the My Documents-redirect-to-SD-card reg tweak:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\SDMemory
change the value of the string "Folder" to "My documents"
no longer work.
I was getting 15-20 second gps locks when I had radio .40 and DCD 3.2.6, but as soon as I upgraded the radio and DCD then it's taking like over 7-9 minutes to get a lock. Sometimes it won't lock at all anymore unless I do a hard reset on the phone. I'm not sure what happened. Does anybody have any ideas? Look at my signiture below for my current configuration.
What's the best Radio and ROM to use right now with the least amount of problems, etc.? I was looking at the V2.2 heavy and light, but I'm not sure if I really understand much about what they are about or the differences in what I have now. I think my biggest problem is with text messaging. If I do it a lot I have to keep restarting my phone because the memory goes down to zero in no time at all. Infact, I have to keep constantly clearing the memory if I use any programs at all. Thanks for your help and time!
Try either 3.3.4 or 3.2.6. I prefer 3.3.4
after all of my testing i ended up sticking with 3.2.6. did you do the aGPS fix? have you checked the QPST settings since your flash? generally, these settings should stick, but in some cases; such as when you need a new a-key, these settings are lost. my last flash removed all my QPST settings and i couldnt lock until i did the aGPS fix again with the updated IP address and port.
Well, in the past it kept all the information after I did the upgrade, so I just assumed it still did. I didn't need a new A-Key. I guess I'll check the QPST settings and do the aGPS fix again. It's been so long ago since I did all the GPS stuff I can't remember what I did and didn't do. I still do get locks but they take forever now and sometimes I don't get them until I restart the phone.
Why are you sticking with 3.2.6? Why don't you like 4.1.2 or 2.2 heavy or light? I've always had the memory problem where if I use programs it just eats up my memory and I don't get most of it back after exiting the software, and if I use my text messaging then my memory just goes down to zero in no time flat and I can't recover it unless I'm constatly restarting my phone. There must be some kind of fix for this. Please let me know. Thanks.. Steve

the QPST settings have changed, so if you did it a while ago you probably just need to update it. youll be locking again after that. ive tested all of dcds roms quite a bit, and always ended up back at 3.2.6 or 3.2.5. im really happy with the speed and everything works exactly as it should. i have a pretty heavy today screen load as well as running several apps at the same time. i didnt like the 4.x.x roms for a couple of reasons. the unread text message thing bugged me alot. i also had a problem with random hard resets, which i was not a fan of.

Are the changes in the AGPS thread?
yes they are
Oh, really? Then that's probably part of the problem. I changed them maybe a year ago or longer. I tried running QPST to check and it's giving me an error message when I start it, so I'm going to have to try to reinstall it and see if that fixes it. Also, the links for the pictures are dead and they aren't coming up anymore, it makes it harder to figure it out.

I ran the Serf Telus aGPS Provisioning CAB file and that seemed to help. I sometimes get locks under 1 minute now, but sometimes it won't lock at all and I have to keep soft booting the phone to get it working.
Oh, so that's why my phone keeps resetting? It's not hard resetting I think it's just soft resetting. At first I didn't like the unread text message thing, but now I do because I get a lot of text messages and when I go to read them it doesn't mark them all as read in the group and I can read them when I get a chance.
I still had the memory issues with the 3.2.6 ROM with my memory going down to nothing, especually when I did text messages, I had to keep restarting my phone. That's been a problem I had with all my ROMs. I wonder why that is? Could it be the version of the MMS software I'm using? Is it the latest version?
Maybe I should go to the MR1 ROM? I still will be able to use the GPS and the WiFiRouter software with it right? Maybe that will solve all my problems? What about the 2.2 light and heavy ROMs? Does anybody know anything about those? Thanks for your help and time...

Well, I uninstalled QPST and reinstalled it and it worked this time without any error messages. It seems if I don't use it for a while it gives me a error message if I try to use it again and I have to uninstall it and reinstall it and then it works OK. I don't remember the error message, but I think it's something about can't find a server or something.
Anyways, you were right about the information I had being old and not correct. I had 66.174.95.132 and 8888 instead of PDE IP Address: 216.198.139.92 and PDE Port Number: 8889. I corrected it and it still seems to take about 56 seconds to get a lock, but hopefully now it will be more reliable in getting the locks. I seem to remember in the past getting locks in less then 10-15 seconds, and I wonder why I can't get locks like that anymore.
Thanks for the help!
Well, I was wrong, I'm getting 15-20 second locks now and I'm getting twice the satalites, up too like 9 satelites and I was getting 1/2 that before and it's a lot more accurate now. Before when I was using Google Maps, I could see it was off like about 50-75ft, but now it's spot on, on my location. Hopefully someone knows the answers to some of my previous questions and can get back to me. Thanks..
I too was having this same exact problem and I had to update the QPST IP address and port again. Mine had reverted to the same thing that Apota's had, with the exception of my default port being 8888. All is working well now that I reset the QPST IP address. I get 6-8 sats and locks in about 10 seconds.
I had been experimenting with some of the RyanMogul's new ROMs when this broke for me. I tried 2.1 light and it stopped working. I'm currently running 1.1 light with it functioning after reusing QPST.

I just upgraded to the v2.2 light. I think I'm going to have to get use to it because the interface is so different, but I got a GPS lock with my TomTom GPS software in about 4 seconds. I couldn't believe it. I haven't seen a lock that fast before. It's really awesome! LOL
I think I am having the same problem as everyone else with the Alltel TP GPS. I have absolutely no luck finding satellites in my hometown, yet if I travel out of my hometown I can get signal 99% of the time. I tried locking in while I was driving back from work (Ocala, FL) to my hometown (Sarasota, FL) and it worked all the way to my house. As soon as I turned I turned Google Maps off it couldn't find me anymore.
I have tried all the tricks to make it work including the obvious "turn on my location".
If anyone have a solution that works please let me know. I have heard that if you use the Alltel Nav program then the GPS picks up very well, so there must be something there.
can anyone help?
if you are running stock rom its a little finniky at GPS but if your running a custom rom then its a lot better... also the stock radio seems to be little strange...
if your not running stock what are you running?
do you have quick gps installed?
I am using the stock rom. I am not familiar with other ROMs, I haven't looked into that aspect of it yet. What is the best ROM for an Alltel phone (IYO)? Do the other roms still use TouchFLO? Am a very graphic person, so I like the prettyness of TF3D.
i had problems getting a satellite lock in my home town when i had my 6800 with my tp its much better i am running energy rom found here over at ppcgeeks http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=69545. i really think it just has to do with the area/amount of towers. there has been some discussion about needing gps services turned on on alltels side. Saying that if you sign up for there navigation service they will open up gps and then cancel service(i have never used their service and get gps). It sometimes would take awhile for me to get a lock and then only pick up one or two satelites then out of area i would pick up a bunch. have u tried htc gps tool? also check out visual gpsce. try all different radios too. im curently running the vzw rapael radio found here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=46616. once you flash over your alltel radio u will not be able to flash it back stock since the alltel radio has not been dumped yet (something i was not aware of when i flashed). im going to bet though if you unlock your phone and flash a custom rom your gps lock will be better. good luck!
I installed ConFlippers Rom for the Alltel TPs and I like it a lot, but it didn't do anything to help my GPS lock.
Changing doesn't always helps. Conflippers is a great rom because its exclusive for alltel and is very easy to flash because everything works. With conflippers you need to install "htc gps tool". Then once you have it do the following: select "clear memory" ->open for 15 sec.->close->select "cold or warm start" ->open 10 sec.->check nav init.->check your satellites. If you got green then go to google maps or whatever program you are trying to use gps for.
If you would like to try a different rom then sometimes simply cycling the location setting from on to off then back on again or soft reset is in order. Keep your quick gps up to date.
There is not one fix for all gps problems for the t-Pro. You will find a routine that works and it will no longer be a problem. One thing that works 100 percent of the time is with the stock rom, paying for alltel nav will give you locks instantly in any program at anytime.
I'm using Nfsfan's CDMA Touch Pro Rom
I install the Alltel Carrier Cab and MMS cab in my faq
when I flash it to make it work 100% with Alltel.
(mms=Picture/vid messaging)
The link to my faq is in my signature.
Also, in post one of my signature there is a link to a post I've made
describing what's vga compatible and what's not
till I finish getting everything for my TouchPro Faq.

Well, I've had my Alltel Touch Pro for about 6 hours now, so I'm hardly an expert (coming from my eternally flashed and reflashed PPC-6800) but, here's my experience with GPS:
Bought the Touch Pro from the Alltel corporate owned store. Walked outside to my car and got in. Went into the phone settings and turned Location On. Popped my Garmin Mobile XT (bought retail, not cracked) card out of my 6800 and into my Touch Pro. Let it install. Started up Garmin Mobile XT, got on the highway, and within a minute had a nice GPS lock.
Obviously, all on the stock Alltel ROM (no time to look into custom ROMs yet, I've only had it for a few hours!) So I can state that at least in my case the GPS worked fine out of the box without any sort of priming or tweaking. YMMV.
Yea, like I said mine works great everywhere I have been except for my hometown. I can even hook up to my bluetooth GPS receiver and it works great everywhere. Just can't seem to get a connection in (Sarasota, FL).
