[Q] Uninstalled Rom Manager but saved its clockworkmod folder on computer!! - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im running Axura 2.2.5.7 which was flashed using Rom Manager. I was coming from 2.1 stock. I, somehow, uninstalled Rom Manager but before doing so I copied the ‘clockworkmod’ folder to my computer. Now if I do a fresh install of Rom Manager and copy the said folder from computer to my phone. Will I be able to gain access to my backups of stock 2.1 etc.?

Yes, should have no issues... but remember that CWR does not restore your kernel so if you tried to restore 2.1 backups when on froyo, you will be stuck at the Vibrant screen.
You SHOULD be able to flash a 2.1 kernel and then restore though. Or just ODIN to stock JFD, root, restore.

So when I do a fresh install of Rom Manager...do I just switch the newly created 'clockworkmod' folder (assuming RM creates the said folder as soon as it is installed) with the one I have on my computer?

Just replace the "backup" folder

Ok so I reinstalled rom manager and all the backup data is there now. I didn't copy the 'clockworkmod' folder from computer. I checked the contents of the backup folder and I think it has everything from previous backup. Is this normal?

update.zip creation using TB

In titanium backup : setting/more/create 'update.zip'
What is it? Am I right to think when I rooted my sg2 I loaded a 'update.zip' of the stock ROM, if I now create this 'update.zip' of my phone, will it restore everything (apps, data, etc etc of my phone as it currently is when the file is created?
So it's a backup of my phone in all aspects, that I can restore at anytime.
Please let me know.

Nope. The update.zip just flashes the TB app either into system/app or data/app after you flash a clean rom.

That may have been true in past but in latest versions of TB there is also an option in batch menu/recovery section for you to create a update.zip for your apps/app data which can be flashed in recovery. You will also need ZipSigner from market I think so they will work with CWM.

[Q] How Can I Restore My Rom Backing Up By Cmw Recovery After Using A Cyanogen Rom

hello,
everyone. I have a problem with my I9300.Could u help me to solve it?
last night , I have downloaded the cm10.1-20130131-nightly,and installed it on my phone. Before installing,I backed up my previous rom using cmw-recovery(cmw-based recovery v5.5.0.4).And now i want to reinstall my previouus ROM,but i find when i want to restore it,cmw-recovery will alert:"could not open directory no files found".
Then i find CM has changed my intern-SD.there are 2 folders named "0" which changed the Directory of the sd card.SO cmw-recovery cannot find the back-up ROM.
Could you tell me how i do to slove this problem.

Move everything and anything in "/sdcard/0" folder to "/sdcard/"
Or more simply, move "/sdcard/0/clockworkmod" to "/sdcard/clockworkmod"
You can use some recovery with file manager or install any ROM and use file explorer to move them
After you moved files and then you can go recovery to restore your previous ROM.
By the way , you are using old version of recovery which is unsafe to SDS, update it to latest. More info in general section

Thanks for replying.I have tried that, but still didn't work. And i have tried a stupid method:"back up current CM ROM,reboot ,using ROOT EXPLORER to find backed up CM ROM,copy privious ROM to the folder where CM ROM was in",then i can restore privious ROM.
But i have a problem of updating recovery:recovery i have downloaded from CMW websites was an .img file.and i only know using recovery to flash a .zip file. Can u tell me how to update the newest version of recovery.
thanks!

[Q] Dual Boot - ROM backup

I'm using GoogyMax (have also used Siyah) and running Purelook HD Rom along with Slimbean as 2nd ROM. Right now I have my phone exactly how I like it but I also like trying new versions. It gets confusing doing Nandroid in each ROM and running backups from both using TB (Titanium) or MBR (My Backup Root) and recently I managed to stuff things up and had to rebuild from scratch.
Is there a way to do a Nandroid and get the entire package backed up? I am presuming in Slimbean backup I get only that ROM (it's around 1.1GB) and the same for Purelook (it's around 2.17GB) It would be good if I could simply boot to recovery and run one Restore and be back to my full setup.
Or am I mistaken in the idea Purelook, based on 4.1.2 stock, would be 2 times the size of Slimbean?
Shouldn't nandroid in CWM backup both Roms as the second is a kind of subset of the first regarding folder structure?

No, 2nd ROM is:
/sdcard/.secondrom
This is why it's best to use Siyah recovery to manage nandroid backups for 2nd ROM. However, since /sdcard/.secondrom should contain all the ROM stuff (including data) IIRC, shouldn't you just be able to rename that to /sdcard/.secondrom_OLD and reformat a new /sdcard/.secondrom?
Thanks for the replies.
I am unable to locate the /secondrom using ES File Explorer. Going to / and searching for 'secondrom' gives me no result. secondrom is deinitely there though - I just booted into it. Either it's a setting in ES that I need to change so I can see it (I'm using ES File in the 1st ROM) or I am not understanding how the folder set up works with dual boot. (or possibly, at all )
I guess, unless there is something more specific to find on here, I will have to backup everything then try a restore of each nandroid and see what it gives me.
Its .secondrom, meaning hidden file. Have you enabled hidden files?
On 4.1, /sdcard is /data/media but on 4.2, its /data/media/0 so you'll need to use root explorer permissions to browse and check /data/media if you're on 4.2 as it may appear "missing" as per link in my signature

Restore on TWRP one cannot find the backups

I installed TWRP 2.6.0.1 as one guides suggested.
I used it to do backups and install the Google rom (that has all a sort of problems). So I waned to go back to my backup but they were not showing in the backup list even if I could them under /sdcar/TWRP/BACKUP/...
After backing up another file I can see the new file.
I installed ROM Toolkit that can see the old backups but it fails to install them because try to get them from /internal_sd/ (or it was /external_sd ?) instead of /sdcard
What is going on?
Did I installed the wrong TWRP or what?
Moved to Q & A, please don't post something in development forums unless you are releasing something.

What I did was create a new backup using twrp then I used my file explorer to find the twrp folder and found where the new backup was made. I then moved over my old backup into that folder and when rebooted into recovery it found it

Most likely it's in 0/TWRP or /data/media/TWRP
