Hi there, I have a lot of music downloaded into Google Play, but I was wondering if there was a way I could go into the settings with a computer to find the files and copy it from there, and put it into the music folder? Is there a way I could do that? So I could delete the google play app, I don't like that it will automatically edit the music on the phone if you did it on the computer.
Another reason is that I like the music widget, and I want that to appear for all my songs, not just in my phone. So I want to move all my music that is downloaded to google play music to my phone. Does that make sense? And is there a way to do so?

I know that, I downloaded it to my device so now it is stored on the phone memory in the app itself. Is there a way to transfer that into the music folder?
Easiest way is just to download it onto your computer then transfer across.
When you say you downloaded it to your device, did you do it through the app and select songs to keep for offline listening? If you did that, then the files saved aren't actually the music files. I'm not sure what they are, but they are only readable by Google Music.
What you can do (to build off of madflier's post) is go to the Music Manager on your desktop, and there will be a tab to download some or all of your music from Google Music onto your computer. You can then move the music into a folder on your phone and listen there.

Thank you bro, I did it, and it worked perfectly!!!
So I know that the play music app is basically all the songs linked to your google play account and our not necessarily downloaded or drm free. I just bought a song today and noticed it was there in that app after I pressed the button with the head phone picture after purchase. Also a cd a burned onto my pc is in that same app after I had added to my play music using the music manager so does music basically update to your phone automatically when you add music or anything else to your play account? My phone was plugged into my pc but I didn't do anything or at least don't think I did. I am used to having to deal with itunes and syncing everything so I may be over thinking all this but is that basically how music on android works? You buy a song on your phone and add it manually to the play music app or if you buy a song on your web browser or upload your own music to your play account on your pc everything just goes to your phone automatically if you have wifi? Also what does that tack icon mean by the music? For some songs I press it, it turns white, and in the status bar I see "keeping requested music" I always stop it though before it gets to 100% Sometimes the tack icon is blue and when I hit it I see "this music is already stored on this device" which I do not get because with the exception of the song I just bought all my music was dragged and dropped to my phone because everything was converted from itunes to drm and 2 songs were just downloaded from my play music..
Finally my Persona 4 album has artwork in my play library on my pc but on my phone there is no album artwork. Is there anyway to add the album artwork on the phone?
I've started using Google Play Music as my media player. But when I buy something and "keep it on device" I can't find where its downloaded too. I've searched all through my phone. Sometimes I use the HTC music player nut I can't access anything I've bought from the Play store until I download it to my computer and copy it to my phones music folder. It's pretty frustrating. Does anyone else have this problem? Or know another work around? Thanks in advance

GPM does keep the tracks on your device, but not is a format that can be accessed by other music players. It caches music in /data/data/com.google.android.music/file/music as mp3's with numeric filenames like 10.mp3, 11.mp3, etc. and the indexing of track Title/Album/Artist to the cached mp3's is stored in /data/data/com.google.android.music/databases/music.db
That's just plain stupid..... I paid for the music and should be able to move it to where I want on my own device. I love Google but they do some stupid things. Such as that and not letting you merge 2 separate Google accounts. Thanks a bunch though

Yeah it's stupid. You're better off buying from Amazon.

Kinda stupid, I agree. However, if you're storing music on your phone, you might as well plug in your phone, and just copy the music over to the folders you want, which will preserve file titles/tags.
I actually like Play Music .... but this closed music management is terrible. You can not choose where your music is stored and you can't open your music with another app. As it has been said above, there is the possibility to read out the music.db. So I've written me an app, that copies my MP3 files from Play Music to the sdcard and extended them with the ID3 meta data such as title, artists, albums and coverart. Now I can play the music with every app and theoretically even share.
Of course the whole thing is only one solution for rooted phones. But it makes play music a little more comfortable.
I even found a way to save music from AllAccess, but I'm not going to publish this App Version in the foreseeable future because of legal problems.
I would also like to create help thread here in XDA, but unfortunately I must have 10 posts written , before I can create am own thread in the developer forum.
Here is a Link to to the Play Store: Unfortunately I can not post links yet. Search 'Play Music Exporter' on Google Play.

Hi,
I have a few questions about Goole Play Music All Access. Hopefully this is the right place to ask. Just to calrify, I have a lot of music from other MP3 providers, or from my CD collection on my device. I plan on keeping it that way, because I don,t want to lose the ability to play songs with different players.:
Does your choice of Thumbs up/Thumbs down affect Radio play, if the files are on your device and not on the cloud?
When you choose Radio Play, does it mix songs from your personal library (assuming they only exist on your device)and the cloud?
I have set up my Thumbs up list do automatically download songs to my device. If I "Thumbs up" a song that I have added from my library to my device, and the same song exists on the Google Servers, what happens?
Does the choice of High/Medium/Low quality affect the quality of the song saved to my device? If so, is ther a way to listen in Normal when not on Wi-Fi but to download high quality files to the device?
I would like to have the Thumbs Up/Down control on the lock screen. Is this possible?
I find the qality of sound of the Google Play Music app to be lacking (compared to PowerAmp, for example). What other apps will give me the same access to the Google Play Music All Access?
Is it possible, when playing songs on the device only, to skip certain songs altogether when using "I feel lucky?" For example, I have a lot of spoken word, or music backtracks that I don't want to hear in my shuffled songs. In other players I just put them in a separate folder and tell the player to ignor that folder, but that concept doesn't seem to exist in Google Play Music. Unless I'm wrong?
Thanks,
L
Hi all. Quick question:
I have google play all access, and I have stored the music locally on my device. I was wondering if there is a way to get all of my google play music files to play through the HTC Music app. Reason being, I want to install the Harmon-Kardon edition mod, but looks like the most benefit comes from using the HTC Music app. Does anyone know how I might go about sourcing all the google play files onto the HTC Music app?
Stock rooted, S-OFF, with latest OTA
Thanks!

The Harmon Kardon mod is really about enhancing compressed music, though it also supports 192khz via flac's, but you are asking about Play Music, which is compressed, even at high quality. The bottom line is that the mod works on all music apps, from Spotify, to Google Play Music exactly the same as it does for the HTC Music app. Technically, you can play the G Play music mp3's on any player, if you are rooted. You just need to move them to another folder. The down side is that the G Play app names all of the songs numerically, like 7483.mp3, so in the end, you are better off just using whatever music app you normally use.
another thing you can do is go into your default.xml file and edit the line pertaining to music channel (turning it on the rebooting, making sure the change has been saved). This allows me to play my playlists off Google music with the HTC player features, giving me access to the visualizer, lyrics (when applicable) etc, and the HK mod icons are active
Soon as I start a song, I get a notification that Music Channel is available, I click the notification and there it is
