Android on HD2 and phone calls recording - HD2 Android SD Development

I don't know if it's the right place to ask, but, well, it probably is.
Can someone recommend an HD2 Android kernel with the proper drivers that would allow utilities, such as AllCallRecorder, to actually record both sides of a phone conversation on an HD2 ? I am currently running one of the Evo-based Android builds with one of the later Hastarin kernels, and have no luck recoding calls.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Me.

Definitely not the right place. Thanks for playing

If not the devs of the builds/kernels, who else would possibly know

Chefs and kernel devs would answer that. They read the Q&A section. If everybody had a question for them, the section would be chaotic. That's why there is a certain section for your questions.

Can the ROMs that don't say whether they are GSM or CDMA be used for either one?

My question is, I see the CDMA ONLY rom section but there is only 1 ROM in there. I can't get my sound or notifications to work so I have to try another one or stick with the stock ROM. I need sound and notifications or I will not hear when my stuff arrives and like yesterday, I missed a lot.
Can any of the ROMs that don't say whether they are for GSM ONLY? Or can I not use a single ROM in the Raphael ROM development section? If my question is confusing let me know. I have the sprint HTC Touch Pro(CDMA), and I would like to try one of these ROMs that don't say GSM only... Some of the ROMS don't designate which one they will only work on.
I don't wanna brick my phone so any help would be greatly appreciated... Maybe everyone should designate if it's CDMA, GSM, or both so that no one bricks their phone just for that reason.
Thanks for the help and I appreciate all the work. If I find a ROM that i'll use... I will definitely donate.
Dan
Unless they specifically say they are CDMA, assume they are GSM. There isn't a ROM that can work on both tmk.

Yea, most here are GSM, I suggest you check out PPC Geeks, they are mostly CDMA and have quite a few ROM's over there. Thats the best advice I can give you!
Thanks very very much for your answers guys. I absolutely love djbeames CDMA Rom but I just need the sounds and notifications. I beleive he is having progress. I like ya'lls work and responses as I've said, i've been using this site for over a year now. I may check out ppc-geeks but ultimately my final ROM choice will be from XDA.
Sorry if I posted a thread with an already answered question. I always use the search function and this is propbably my first thread since i've started using this site over a year ago.
I've read a lot but there's more and more and more. I plan to read it all but I just didn't have time to look through a bunch of pages or text to find an answer that I couldn't find in the search function. Thought it would be ok if I just made a quick thread asking. Next time I'll probably PM one of you guys.
Thanks for the responses, later guys.

I know you said that you really like xda (I don't blame you) but i have to +1 that ppc geeks recommendation. It seems like they are pretty much the opposite of what you find here in that the majority of their work is for cdma rather than gsm.

Wanting To Learn

Ok so I've had my Sprint CDMA Hero since it first came out and rooted as soon as I could.
I've searched alot but want to make a Rom from ground up with my friend. We're going to try to make a Rom for both the G1 and The Hero (Through porting). I'm willing to learn as much as I need to, and have a spare computer for Development that has Linux on it.
If anyone wants to teach me I would be greatful
Can anyone help me if not the mods can close this...
Some things are sticky for a reason.
I think what cauli meant to say is:
You need to read Cyanogen's guide stickied in this forum. He is the main man regarding Android development and really knows his stuff.
If you still have questions regarding compiling your own rom, you're of course free to ask.
Just don't think the "chefs" will give you a quick tour on rom cooking, since it's pretty heavy stuff and takes alot of time and reading up to get to know the basics.
Good luck though.
Thank you for your help... Mods please close this thread

Hey all, new here i have some questions

Hey all! I'm so glad i found this community it looks awesome! I'm new here and to the HTC hero G2 AND to the droid OS for that matter so i will have some pretty noobish questions , i will try to make it easy and list them in order so if you could please respond that way it would make it a lot easier on this noob as well
I am in the USA so i don't know if that will make a difference but i see a lot of other countries names in updates.
1. My device is the G2 obviously and its unlocked and i use my local carrier Cincinnati Bell and i'm pretty sure my phone is stock everything as far as firmware and what not. I still have 1.5 and i'm seeing people talk about 2.1, some say a message will automatically appear for the update but will it work since i'm not on T Mobile? if not how do i go about getting this?
2. What other types of software are there you recommend every G2 should have or that i can update to my phone to make it better, faster and just all around great, how would i go about doing this?
3. i've noticed when i go to albums for some reason there are 5 different albums just for my pictures which were all already on my sd card, and on my old phone were all just under the same album. The same for videos too there is 3 different ones for those too. Why are they all being seperated and how do i just make one entire album for all photos and one for videos? i've plugged the USB into my computer and opened my sd card and have seen the folders for all my music and photos so could when i add particular artists music on just create my own folder and put each artists music in their own folder? would it show up like that on my music player as being seperate? and could i do the same for pictures?
I realize i have quite a decent amount of questions and i apologize but i am new to the G2 and Droid in general as i've stated and i love the experience so far and i want to gain as much knowledge as possible so big thanks to anyone who helps me!
THANKS!!!

What exactly did you think it was? This is a developer community.. not a help desk.
I myself am not a developer.. I have a very small and limited amount of knowledge regards android.
I come here because I pick things up.. and occasionally when I have a problem I ask a question BUT only in the hope that the great and the good of this community feel like they have time to answer it.
Sure I wish I could be more welcoming to you.. I really do hope your problem gets solved.
Just dont expect it to get handed to you.. for example.. most of your questions can be answered in the hero wiki.. which is one quick search away from discovery.
Your initial question was polite and well formed.. however to follow it up with that statement just shows that you were being very disingenuous.
Again.. I hope someone takes the time to answer your several questions.

I've searched for forums for the Hero G2 and this is one of the only ones with activity i found. So i signed up, yes i know this is a development forum but if someone has the knowledge to develop for such a phone then it became common sense to me they would know answers to the questions i had. I did not mean to seem "disingenuous", its from the fact of taking a post like my last to get a response is why i did so. I wish someone from the first few views could of either 1. Helped me or 2. Said what you said and suggested somewhere or something else to help.
I don't mean to sound like an ass, just would really like help so it would be GREATLY appreciated if someone tried at least :-/
Ok i'll use my first post as an attempt to be useful, if only because i've read a whole lot from here and as yet written nowt
Now, first things first, being in the states do you have the G2 gsm hero, the one with the chin, or the US cdma sprint version? Makes a big difference if you want to do rooting.
Information searching for the hero doesn't have to come from active forums, many were hugely active when the phone first arrived and may not be so now, but much of the content is just as useful/relevant as it was then.
Oh, and i'm neither a dev, or a programmer or a techy phone expert, pc expert or any other expert come to that, just a hero owner that started much like you. Knowing nothing
Regarding the official 2.1 update, have no idea how it might arrive at your device, or mine as i'm not interested. Mine is rooted 1.5 with modaco 3.2 and it works just fine (and stable/reliable) for me, and does pretty much all i need it to do. The only exception being maybe bluetooth transfer.
When i got my hero it was the latest all singing, all dancing device that shamed most if not all other smartphones, eventually rooting it made it better, and unless i get to upgrade it every 6 months to me that's the way it'll stay.
I might go for a custom 2.1 rom at some point, be warned the official upgrade removes that possibility for the future, and even if you don't think you'll want to now, you may well change your mind once you've had the phone a while
How are the files stored on your sd card now? Separate folders are displayed separately. Contacts, downloads, camera shots etc I guess you could put them all in one folder but the album has an "all pictures" option anyway so why bother.
All my albums are stored in folders, with artwork, and just drag and drop into the music or mp3, can't recall what it's called right now, folder and display as whole albums in the player. If i want to create a folder just for one artists tracks then again it will display that "album" separately.
Works fine for me as i'm a whole album person rather than using playlists.
Any combination is possible, trial and error and personal preference time, but you wont break anything by trying.
Finally, have google work for you, or you tube, there's a heap of good stuff around, and more applications than my failing keyboard can mention hence rooting and apps2sd has unlimited my app count. No more worrying whether i can fit in that latest market find or what i have to delete first.
new batteries time before i launch this keyboard.....
Thank you! for someone trying to help... i'll soak all that in kind person, and i have the one with the chin

Hello from a new member :)

Hi all! I've been checking out this forum for quite some time now, and been following a ROM thread quite closely for the past week or so, so thought it was about time I got an account! Currently got a Galaxy S2, which I love.
I'm by no means a developer, but I'm also not a complete n00b and know my fair share about computers. Done a bit of programming on and off for a few years, build my own PC's etc. I previously had a HTC Hero, and I rooted that and have flashed several ROM's and Kernels over the past 2 years. I would like to learn a lot more though. There are a lot of things I don't understand.
I would like to know more about how things work concerning custom ROM's. What is it Kernels do exactly? What is AOKP? (Found some information on Google, but nothing that made a lot of sense). Modems are another thing I'd like to know more about.
I know a lot of the questions I have have probably been asked several times on the forum already, so I'm not going to ask for direct answers, but if anyone has any links to helpful websites that could help me on my way to learning more about the Android system and what you developers do I would greatly appreciate it.
Anyway, nice to meet you all, and I look forward to talking with some of you and contributing where I can.
Thanks,
Carl
Welcome to the forum!
First, read all the FAQs out there, recovery guides, how-to's... Everything before flashing
The Kernel (in the flashing process, it's the zImage, just like in Linux) is basically a bridge between the software and the hardware. It's basically what connects the NAND (the phone's HDD) with the hardware components like WiFi, Antenna, etc, and provides info, stats, commands and etc about them.
AOKP stands for Android Open KANG Project, and is kind of a Kang port.
Modems (in a flashing package, it's the PHONE file) is pretty much what "controls" the antenna section of the phone, which is WiFi, 3G/H/H+, call connection, etc. There are many modems out there, and I believe that the best Modem for the UK in Android 2.3.x is KL1, and for 4.0.x, XXLPQ.
If you would like more help, you can PM me!

[Q] Help from an expert!

Hi,
So it been a month that I am testing some china phone, Gionee has some of really good quality. Well build, top materials and great quality of displays too.
The problem with this phones is that there is no custom rooms for them and to be honest the software (android) SUCKS!!!
What I want to do is to build my own "MOD" to run on those phone. I know java quite well.
So my question is,,, What to I need to start learning to be a developer? I know that is a bit of an abstract question, but I need an advise. I have read all the posts from XDA University but the thing is. On that site you only explain how and android phone works.
I want to know what do I need to learn to build a kernel? Where do i find libraries? How to build a Bootloader? and finally how do I get that to work with the radio?
Rom Development Section
Search at Rom Development section...
There are really good guides in that section...
