I am not sure what has happend but I am baffled. I had attempted to odin to ji6 and entered down load fine I could not get odin to continue after setting up connection. I cncled becaust there was no progross for it did not begin. No after exiting download mode my screen shows somthing I have never seen. A image of a phone with dots conneting to a warning sign and the dots to a pc image.
Any Ideas?
If you press menu or home or any other row keys, does the screen change? If not, odin stock JFD and try again. To enter download mode: remove battery, plug phone into PC, with one hand holding vol up and vol down, put battery back in. Then odin. Sorry if this is redundant...

Im not sure what happend to get you in that situation. I was in the same boat a while back and did some searching and came up with a solution.
Your phone isnt bricked but what you have to do is put your phone back in to "Download" mode.
To do this turn the phone all the way off with no cords attached to it. Take your USB cable and connect the USB end to the PC but leaving the phone end dissconected.
Next, on the phone with battery in and phone OFF, press and hold both Vol UP and Vol Down at the same time. While holding connect the other end of the USB cable to the phone (while holding down Vol UP+Down) Doing this will power up the phone straight to "Download Mode" *Green Android with a Shovel)*
In this mode the phone can be connected to odin to truble shoot it.
Good luck, dont forget to use the "Thanks" button if I was of any help

Thanks you for the quick reply. You are the man and I owe you my gratitude.

I was putting the new update on and Odin was doing its thing. it went black now I got the stupid screen of a phone pic a yellow triangle and a computer. I know my phone is hardware locked what can I do? I rooted it with the one click root but no rom was installed.
Do you have adb running? You do know there was a fix for hardware locked vibrants, right?
If you have adb running & your phone can be seen by your pc it might be possible to get the sbl file pushed in to flash. Not sure it would work this way but it might be worth a shot. Not to sure what commands you would need either.

I did search and search on hardware locked and bricked phones. My first post was about all I see is the phone, yellow triangle and the computer icons. I pulled the battery hold the volume up and down both put the battery in plugged in the usb cord and It goes right to the symbols of the phone, yellow triangle and the computer. Odin does not see my phone sorry but I have studied for hours how to root and do several things to my vibrant by myself. This has me stumped and looking for help.

Nothing. The 3-button fix should have been applied prior to flashing anything! You need a new phone, unless somehow, magically, after searching these forums and trying the (at least) 20+ ways people claim to get into download mode work.
None have worked on mine.
im not asking if ODIN can see your phone. I was asking if ADB sees your phone...
Do you have ADB setup? if so, what happens when you type:
adb remount
If you do have adb setup and nothing happens then you are in the same boat as southplatte.
get the samsung captivate back to download mode
I have similar problem like that. When i use Odin3 one click flash the ROM. It stuck in the middle of flash. I take off the usb cable out ,try to reboot the phone. Oop .. the screen show the sign of the phone--- yellow triangle with exclamation sign in the middle---computer icon. Can do nothing with it, because the computer now can not connect with the phone.
In my case, I take the USB off the phone but still connect with the computer. Hold the volume button + power until the phone flash in black screen .This moment happen very quick ,it will go back to the unconnected sign again. When the screen turn black just release power button but still press volume button (otherwise it not working) hook the USB back in your phone right on that moment. The Phone go back to download mode. If not work try couple time ,important is timing right on the moment the flash to black screen .
Now ,you can use the odin3 flash the ROM again. It works for me ,and i try again same situation couple times. it really works.
hopefully, this will help for who got the same problem.

Omg Thank You! you just saved me 2hrs. Try this method if you guys get the triangle sign. It works!
Same issue...
Galaxy S 4g Tmobile - tried pulling all cards and battery and 3-button trick but to no avail. Never enters downloading mode. How can I tell if I'm fully bricked?
Dharra, youre in the wrong forum altogether
OP, try a jig. If that doesnt get you into download.mode, listen very carefully: youre ****ed.
Your only remaining options will be to send it to someone with a riff box (pm connexions2005 or go to mobiletechvideos.com) or do the unbrickable mod and run the unbricking app.
If you do fix your phone, do the hw lock fix right ****ing away!!

i tried the battery pull and plug in the usb and holding the vol- vol + buttons. still get the same thing. i also tried the holding the all 3 buttons (power) untill the screen went blank then release and plugged in the usb. no change.
i do get a chime on my windows xp that usb is connected but nothing shows up

What bootloader do you have? If GB press vol down and power together then plug in USB.
I soft bricked my phone after trying to apply voodoo lag fix yesterday. I tried to use Eugene's froyo that does not brick to Odin back to stock, but I couldn't select the .tar file in Odin, so I pulled the battery while the phone was in download mode. Now my phone only shows a picture of a phone and a computer with a triangle with a ! in the middle. I assume this means to connect the phone to a computer, but I do have it connected so I am very confused. Is this fixable? Please help!

Pull the battery so the phone is off (no phone!computer symbol anymore). Plug the battery back in and plug a USB cable into your computer.
Hold both the volume up & volume down buttons at the same time and plug the USB cable into the phone WHILE holding both buttons and it should enter download mode again.
Run ODIN and get back your phone!!!
I've had that symbol show up before... it's not the end of the road, it's just frustrating. You shouldn't lose any data in this process either, so that's something to look forward to!

vol up and vol up? JK I think he ment vol up and vol down plus power
Remove battery and all cards. Plug in usb to pc, holding down both volume buttons, pop the battery in, that should launch you into dl mode and ready for odin. Sometimes it takes a few to get the sequence right. I would recommend having odin loaded and ready to go with your pit and tar files before hand, and when you see the comm light up in odin, hit start and sit back.

Hey everyone.
So the other day I got excited about the CM7. I was following the steps to install it. i made a mistake. after i flashed the kernel. i rebooted my phone now all i get is a screen with picture of phone with a yellow triangle attached to a pc.
The thing i've tried to do was
1.take out the battery
2. take out the sim(which was already taken out to be in my gs4g)
3.took sd card out.
4.plug usb into phone and computer
5.put battery in while hitting the vol +/- minus rocker and nothing happens.i have odin open when I( try this.
my computer just wont pick it up.
when I plug in my gs4g it picks it up right away.
I've spent all weekend working on this.
also i think they only way before hand for me to get into download/recovery was for me to use adb. could that be why I'm not getting any progress?
Thanks in advance. Also sorry if this question has been asked so many times..
Is your problem getting into download mode? Or is it that you get into download mode but Odin won't recognize the device?
If its the former, getting into download mode is a bit tricky in CM7, I've done it plenty of times though. This worked for me.
1. Unplug the usb cord.
2. Pull out the battery.
3. Plug usb cord in.
4. Hold down vol+ & vol- and power button
5. You will see the loading circle or whatever it's called, when the screen goes black let go of power button.
You should be in download mode now. Sometimes you won't get the loading screen and the phone'll just boot up, if so pull the batt and try again.

I've done that many times. I've tried for several hours during the weekend. Also CM7 is not installed yet. was in the middle of installing then this happend.
just open odin and plug your phone in to your pc and see if you get a COM port...if you do then flash it from there..

not getting that at all no com ports show up.. I'm going to try this on a different computer.
When I get the black screen with that icon in the middle and I plug it in, Odin recognizes it right away. Furthermore, I've only gotten it before when I go into download mode(yellow sign + android sweeping) and Odin doesn't recognize my phone and I pull the battery then turn it back on.
Get odin up usb cord connected to the computer but not the phone
Remove the sim card the sd card and the battery and do the vol up and down boot. Then while holding the vol buttons down at the same time plug in the usb.
That should get you back to recovery.
READ the STICKY for NOOBS......... S15274N did a wonderful job of explaining all the methods on how to get into recovery from a soft brick
good luck

I've been trying all of those methods. Before this happened the only way for me to get into download was using adb reboot download command in adb.
The computer does not recognize in odin. I've tired this on two computers now.
I have all the drivers installed. i uninstalled ed reinstalled etc. used two different usb cables etc.
not sure what else to try. other than a baseball bat....
so i looked around and i bought a jig on ebay from skisky1. hopefully it will be here soon . to try this out .
at the moment, when i try to boot the phone i'm getting the pic with the phone and the computer with the little yellow triangle in the middle. every once and a while i can get it to the download screen, but when i do, and i try to open odin, odin wont see the phone. if i disconnect and reconnect it will see the phone, but i cant download anything.
is there an update.zip i can load onto the sd card that i can use to have it boot correctly without getting the pic of the phone and computer?
or some way i can get odin to see my phone so i can load CWM recovery?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
ok well after going nuts for a while, i figured it out, to get into downloading i was holding down the vol-down while hitting power with the usb plugged in. then i read that you are supposed to start with the phone off, hold down vol-down and insert usb.... bingo!
/sigh
I love that screen lol. It reminds me to only use Heimdall instead of odin.
If I were you I would reinstall the samsung drivers and then try it. If that doesn't work you can try heimdall.

A lot of people prefer to pull the battery for flashing. Then when you hold vol dn & power it immediately goes into download mode.
