Hi I wanted to know how should i access my phone memory.
Model: Xperia Mini Pro
Version: 2.1 update 1
I'm able to access all the files in SD card, but not sure how to locate the phone memory, should i install any application to access that?
Also all the application i install goes into the phone memory (i'm running out of space) any alternative way to route that to memory card?
Your ideas and suggestions will be really helpful.
Thanks a lot.

1. You are in the wrong forum. Go the X10 mini forum.
2. You need to be rooted to access the phone/system files.
3. Once you are rooted, you can use Root Explorer to access the phone/system files.
Good luck.
Thanks a lot

Friends,
Can any tell me why some of the apps I have downloaded cannot be moved to SD?(the option is blanked out). Is there any way to do a workaround this limitation?
Thanks.
Applications that run as services and widgets can't be moved to SD card - Froyo (Android 2.2.x) limitation. The workaround is to use app2sd (aka "a2sd") or link2sd, applications that make use of an ext-type partition on your SD card and link the system and data folders to that partition. Doing so, the apps will physically install on the SD card, even those who aren't supposed to (services and widgets I mentioned earlier). Also, apps already installed in your phone can be moved.
Feel free to search the forum and the web for more details about how they work and how to install and use them.
Thanks for quick reply. Still puzzled. Do I have to root in order to install apps2sd? If so how to get around the no root limitation to my 2.2.1? I do not wish to downgrade. Thanks again.
If you don't want to downgrade and/or install a custom ROM that has Darktremor's apps2sd (follow the link and read that post anyway, it's useful info), then you need a tool able to force-move the applications to SD card. I can't help you with any suggestion here so you have to search the Market or any other source you trust. But if that tool needs root rights you're stuck again, because 2.2.1 can't be rooted at the moment.
I have a sony Ericsson x10 mini pro. I'm wondering if its possible to move apps to my sd card, because the phone doesn't have a big internal memory. I heard something about having to root the phone, and doing something to the sd card. Could someone guide me through that, or tell me more about it? How will that effect the apps?
Thank you x
BTW, sorry if this is in teh wrong part of the forum, i wasn't sure what section it came under
I am also trying to find out the answer to this question. All i have been able to find out through search is that one has to root the phone and there is probably just one application superone click that allows you to do that currently for X10mini/pro 2.1 version. However once one has rooted through superone click, how do you then transfer all your applications to the SD card and whether its possible or not is my question. Hoping someone answers soon so i can take the risk of rooting.
There is an app that you can get at the market to enable you to transfer apps to SD..
App2SD and Link2SD.. just search on the Market
and also search the forums for these 2 apps, there are dedicated topics for these with more detailed discussions...
I've tried both App2SD and Link2SD along with a few others... none of them install on X10mini/pro runing on v 2.1. They require some sort of partition on the SD card which i have no idea how to do.

There is no. Of videos of partition of sd card in YouTube.
I m using link2sd and I feel its better than app2sd.
.
If you use Android 1.6/2.1 then you have to use link2SD.
Use this guide for partitioning the sd card
SD Card Partitioning
Or if you have gone to the new Android 2.2/2.3 you dont need these steps, because they are integrated in the OS itself. There are some advantages running 2.2 or 2.3
Good luck
Thank you all... It worked!!!
Used link2SD and created partition on SD card as advised by Tommylee567. Transfered my apps to SD Card. Only issue i am having after the root is that Skype is giving me problems. Have to take the battery out to reset the phone and stop it from ringing continuously whenever someone calls me on skype. I didn't experience this problem before though.
Anyways atleast i got my apps transfered to SD Card.
Thanks Tommylee
I have partitioned my ad and installed link2sd. However it gives an error saying the 2nd partition not found. i have followed all the steps correctly and my mini pro is rooted. Can anyone help? Please!!!

Easiest way I know of is to unlock your bootloader (Instructions from Sony) and install a custom rom with SuperUser access.
KrabAppel's Ice Cream Sony rom v.19.0 and later come with Link2SD.
It lets you move any app to SD Card, whether the app developer supports it or not. (But it may break the app in some cases, like with Widgets)
It even can convert some system apps to user apps (So you can put it on the SD Card)
As a side note, it really does suck how little internal memory Sony seems to put in its phones.
What's your model number, i.e. MT15A
Okay, so I rooted my at&t E970 using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1941699 . I mainly did the root because I wanted to transfer some of my apps to my SD card. I download App2sd and another transfer program and they both have difficulty finding my SD card in some way. How can I fix this? My other android phone is rooted and I use those apps to do transfers all the time. I can play music and see photos that are on my sd card. AND I HAVE A LOT OF MEMORY. Any help? Thanks in advance.
***I am very lost. Shouldn't I be able to boot into recovery after rooting? I can't do that. I installed "Rom Manager" and tried booting into recovery from there but all I got was the operated Android robot picture. Can someone guide me the right way to root this phone?

You would need to unlock bootloader in order to have custom recovery. Freegee app is $1.00 or pc version is free. I am not sure if stock recovery is accessible or useable. Sorry I can't answer more of your questions.
Alright, thanks! I installed that and successfully booted into recovery. I know I'm rooted and I have clockwordmod. I just need to know how to move my apps to my SD card. It still shows that my sd card is "emulated" according to Apps2sd
any luck?

Hi, i was wondering if you get any luck finding how to install applications on sd card, its been a year since you created the post and there seems not to be tan answer, im looking for this info too
I have a I-Mobile I-Style Q2 Android phone, it is running on Android version 4.0.4
I took over this phone from my brother and he says it doesn't come with any software.
Now I have problem with the phone. I have a 2GB SD card, and have about 1.5GB free space.
However, whenever I download and install any apps, it will say that SD Card out of memory.
Moreover, some apps are not able to run with the same reason.
I want to reset the whoel phone to it's fatctory setting and format my SD Card, but I need a desktop software which I don't have.
Can anyone help or tell me other ways to do it without using a desktop software, and after that restore everything back, and be able to upgrade back to the 4.0.4 version.
Thank you so much.
