Wanted: Aosp rom - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Plenty of ROMs I try claim to be AOSP roms but all have these absolute **** TW calendar app. WHY?! Do people actually think this is an acceptable app? Can anyone suggest a good rom to use I need the CM of the Vibrant world.
Thanks.

So kana doesn't work for you? Why not just find and use the aosp calendar app on the rom of your liking?

I did try just removing the TW calendar and installing the AOSP one but now it an icon glued at the top for some reason.

Think you have to move two files, If you post on the kana site I'm pretty sure you'll get a good explanation

Actually theres a rom aosp jk 1.1 based on jk2 you can find on the dev page, that has the calendar you want

[Q] Rom Manager/Gapps

I am excited about Rom Manager support for the Atrix.
Has anybody flashed GAPPS for Gingerbread using Rom Manager yet?
I am mostly afraid that if I flash them, the MotoBlur replacement apps for them will break stuff pretty bad.
I am running CherryBlur currently.
I'm thinking about giving it a try later on today, but before I journey into the abyss, I figured I'd ask.
I'd really like to have google talk video, the stock dialer, the stock contacts app, etc.
Anybody?
I think gapps are only for asop, I may be wrong though

I was wondering the same thing. If its incompatible shouldn't it NOT be available to download? I mean there is nothing else listed there other than ninja rom and QuickROM but im sure if you were on another device more would be showing. It looks like its device specific.

[REQ] Social Networking by Motoblur ported to CM7

I hated Motoblur but loved the social networking app and widget... Is it possible to port it to CM7 or develop something similar...
Or maybe there's something out there that's equivalent that I've missed.
Ideas?

One of the main reasons for CM7 is to get rid of all of the crap companies put on it and provide a pure android experience.
I also like the social networking app from Blur and I'd like to see it ported to CM7. Unfortunately I haven't found anything similar on the market.
Will never happen...requires motoblur which cm7 work so hard at removing.

Give up on this and mod close thread please

If you like the Blur apps, you gotta use a Blur ROM.
It's not all bad, some of that bloat is actually quite functional.
That's too bad... I refuse to leave cm7! I just want a social widget that will stream all of my networks... That particular one happens to have a nice ui.
I'll get over it... Lol

I was thinking of trying to make something that does this but im a noob when it comes to coding...
LauncherPro paid version has a social widget that pulls update from multiple sources.
There are actually many widgets like that - like pure widgets, etc. Google will point you in the right direction.
Colordized Widgets... Nuff said... and executive assistant ... everything you need...

Using MIUI (ICS) browser on CM7?!?

I just flashed back to CM7 from MIUI until they get some of the bugs fixed. But I loved almost everything about MIUI, the browser included. I love the full screen capability, the browser rotation lock, and it just seemed fast and smoother.
Is there any way to use the MIUI browser on CM7? I tried replacing the stock "Browser.apk", but it wouldnt let me. I also tried installing the MIUI browser.apk and it just comes up and says "Not Installed".
I'm wondering if its even possible since the MIUI framework is different than CM7.
Any thoughts?
In order to get it work you would need the browser framework files from MIUI.Im not sure if their compatible with CM7 thought because i think MIUI has some 4.0 framework in it.

I'll give it a shot.

Thanks Sealed Fate.
I do believe MIUI is on 4.0 framework.
I beleive the only way to do it would to MIUI push the framework to system. Im not sure what exactly the result of doing that would be tho..could create some problems if not bootloop you. I tried playing around with the apk file and the libwebcore.so as well as some other libs and it was a no go. You should given Miren browser a shot its very similar.

You know I'm pretty sure there is a ported miui browser lying around. I've downloaded and tried it once when using eclipse 2.1
FROM MY MB870 W/ CM7.2 RC1
Anybody ever port this?
Nope it hasn't been ported. The closest thing to this browser that will work with CM7 is Miren browser. I was thinking about trying to get it to work on CM7 but after taking with a couple people I decided not to. Simply because it requires replacing so much CM7 framework it defeats the purpose of getting it working. I mean sure you would have the MIUI browser working but in doing that would create so many other problems. CM7 uses 2.37 framework and the framework used for the MIUI browser is 4.0. I think there would be better hope getting this browser on DZK's CM9.

S Note is a TW only app, it requires TW framework to make it work which is not present on AOSP ROMs. The only way it would ever work is if a dev was able to distinguish which portions of the TW framework was required to make it run and port it to a ROM or turn it into a flashable mod/patch.
Most of the people on AOSP who want apps like the TW apps go with a few that are listed in several of the AOSP ROM threads. If you want something similar to S Note you could try Papyrus. If you wanted certain apps to open when you take out the S Pen you would need GMD Spen Control which is $5 from the Play Store. If you do give AOSP a shot and miss some of the TW S Pen features you should try GMD Spen Control out, its a superb app and was created with the S Pen SDK from Samsung.

I don't know how to explain it, but I want the MMS apk like the one shown here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/deviceForum/screenshots/1055/20130327T094824.jpg
Is the one you gave me the same one, but appears different on my phone because I'm running CM?
Ah....I don't think the stock mms apk will work on CM as the apk needs the touchwiz framework in order to function.....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
not sure what touchwiz is, but I'm guessing there is no workaround or way to get the stock mms apk to install on CM roms?
Thanks for your help Keith. Appreciate it!
Touchwiz is the Samsung launcher. It is what gives Samsung phones their look and feel....the user framework of the device. Porting parts of that framework to non Samsung ROMs simply will not work.......
As an alternative, you could look for apps in the themes and apps section for an app which has been made to look like 'stock' but which functions on a non stock ROM......
Or....
You could go for a whole new ROM..... one of the 'hybrid' ones.....a stock based ROM but without the bloat and with aosp/aokp functionality. I've used two and am still using one of them....chamelion and aliance.....I'm not going to recommend either as that's against XDA rules, but both of them will let you download themes and tweaks that let you customize the look of the base ROM so that it can resemble (or not) the full stock package........
