how to root after "official" froyo (KA6) update from Kies?
SuperOneClick or OneClickRoot?
I tried the old method and it states signature check failed.

One click works

any suggestions?

My buddy had luck with SuperOneClick here:
http://www.mobilesmartphones.org/rooting-your-android-phone-with-superoneclick-v1-5-5.html

Hmm, I've rooted before with Super One Click but for some reason the app hangs up when I click root. I just need USB debugging enabled right? I feel like i'm missing something, and not sure how I got it to work right before.
EDIT: Nevermind, got it to work.

Works Awesome! Thank You!!!

does z4root work anymore.

I tested myself and SuperOneClick did work!!! Thanks.
However, SuperOneClick canot grant root access to Titanium BackUp...
Any clue?

i rooted with superoneclick 1.5.5 with success but ever since i rebooted, my phone is bootlooping at the intial lockscreen. this phone syncs with my corporate email so the pin pad is supposed to pop up but the screen remains blank except for the notication bar and the capacitive buttons lighting up. Anyone else have this issue?

I rooted w/ super one click but CANNOT get into clockwork recovery to flash a custom rom again...
Any ideas why or how
?

I just tried SuperOneClick and all of the sudden my touch keys at the bottom were lagging/unresponsive. Factory refresh and everything is all good.
I also got the "signature failed" message from using the OneClick update.zip.

Check my tutorial to help:

Try hitting reinstall packages, took me 2 times.

Was having problems with superoneclick because /system/ had 0b free so I went in and deleted a bunch of apps that I'm not going to use (gogo, layar etc) and redid superoneclick and restarted and now all my root apps are working correctly and prompting for SU.

Did you get your issue resolved? I use my vibrant to receive corporate emails too so I want to make sure the root doesn't mess it up.

[Q] rooting htc eris hboot 1.49

hello
i apologize for making a thread about this but i've spent all day yesterday trying at least 10 methods of rooting, wiping my card, downloading this and that etc, etc
i haven't seen any method that isn't at least about two months old, however
so, i'm wondering if it's possible to root a hboot 1.49 eris
this method: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709450
is the only 1.49 targeted method i've been able to find and it's about three months old
have there been any progressions?
You tried one click? Try a forum search for jonsuh and one click.
i tried the version that was in the marketplace but it didn't work
i'll try using the apk from the site too
same exact app
is that the only known method?

this worked for me. the link for download seemed to be down at the moment
file is attached. use at your own risk. not my work, i just posted it until the developer's site is back up. one benefit is that you can just hit the unroot button to unroot your phone then the root button to root again.

Are trying to go to recovery immediately after clicking rootme and then rebooting? If so I made that mistake, you have to reboot once all the way, and then reboot into recovery.
Two full reboots before going into anon-ra recovery.

i asked the same question on how to remove it without flashing back to stock. I just want to uninstall it. i have asked in several threads with no response...
there must be a way to do this without flashing back to stock....
use root manager's system app uninstaller and remove MobileAP.apk
you can do it with the new task manager in ji6
I tried to uninstall using Root Manager but It didn't work. It only makes Mobile AP useless but still in my wireless setting and I'm having force close problems because of it. I uninstalled the apk. and the data files but no luck.

as long you're rooted, you will not be able to successfully install the ota update. my gf's phone was semi bricked while two of her friend's with non rooted vibrant updated fine.
After removing the MobileAP.apk, try going into recovery and clearing cache.

Dont worry about the APP. I would personally recommend you keep it on your phone. You never know when you might need it. Unless you are running out of space.
Secondly, why are you waiting for Tmobile to push the update to you, when you can just grab a copy in the dev section and install it through ODIN. This way you do not have to worry about stuck at boot up issues that others are complaining about.

and actually its best to remove the mobile AP since i assume the OP is using the JFD version. having the JFD version on JI6 facuses force closes in some areas...esp in brightness settings which is why there are 2 versions for the vibrant

No, Titanium Backup will pull all your app information, including system info/apps, on the initial start up. So you can install it AFTER the fact and it will still see it.
That being said, I just checked mine and it only shows Mobile AP Settings, I went ahead and Froze it (basically freezing it will remove the program as if it has been uninstalled and disable it even though it is still technically installed) and it won't let me use the AP anymore (it just FC's), but the menu item is still there.
FYI though, the OTA will wipe your current ROM which includes the AP and replace it with stock JI6 so it will remove it for you when you get the OTA.
Now that I have said all that....I used my search-fu for you and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7730798&postcount=84
Don't know if it will work, but it looks promising and is worth a shot. As always, be ready to get out ODIN if it bricks your phone. Good luck.
EDIT: I believe a flashable zip will be the only way to revert the mobile AP because it must be installed with a flashable zip. It isn't an APK like normal as it is actually embedded in the ROM itself. (Thus the built in menu options).

the original one click root does not work for the 2.2 update via kies. Neither does the Z4root. Tried them both. OCR gave a E:/ not found or whatever error when trying to reinstall packages. z4root pretty much hung then every app i had FC. Odind back to JFD then back to what I had.

That should have what you need. May not be oneclick but if you have a PC, you will get root.
The new kernel most likely is patched. The new way in is called RAGEINTHECAGE
The new recovery is a PITA. Freaks out with the checking of sigs.

Correct, Z4Root + original OneClick method's do not work.
SuperOneClick however does work. Follow the directions closely. I have attached the program below.
Note, OCLF2.0 does not work for this OTA 2.2 ROM. You must use Voodoo or another lag fix that work with another method and not ext2.
i cannot get the one click root to work.. it gets all the way to the "getting mount path" after its been rooted. but then when i use the busybox app it says that it as not been rooted. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...OH and I had forgot that even after 15min of sitting i unplug the phone and the resistive keys are really slow to respond unless i reboot the device...........

[Q] can't open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip

I'm going out of my mind, and really could use some help. I am trying to get a ROM on my wife's Vibrant (I did everything necessary to mine), but when using CWM I am getting the following for some reason:
can't open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip
It's rooted, I have Titanium Update on there, Root Explorer, ROM Manager...everything, but this is holding me up. I just don't get it. Also, for some reason, I can't seem to get Busybox to load. Not sure why. It went on to my Vibrant without any problem.
Anyone who might have some advice....I'll take it!

Got the update.zip file on there, but no luck. It just keeps looping back to the blue Samsung Recovery Utility (with "reinstall packages)....getting frustrated.

that happened to me a while back. Make sure you copied the update.zip on the internal sd card not external and (how i did it) make sure you replace the update.zip (if there is one) that is already there... if that makes sense.
I give up, at least for now. I had next to no problems with my Vibrant. Now her phone is showing as rooted in Root Check, yet Titanium Backup says it can't run cause it's not rooted. I just don't get it.
Back up everything. Odin to stock and push update.zip from the guide above. Make sure it is the one 1.7MB one. It's also posted in the second post here....

well, depending on how you rooted it, no it didn't actually have busybox.
The stock 2.2 update from tmobile doesn't have enough room on it to have all the stock apps/bloatware on /system + root app + root binary + busybox installed. While it may have "appeared" to have been installed and working, it really wasnt and was cleared once rebooted.
Also, you need to replace the stock 3e recovery with the modified one to get the update.zip working.
But an easier way to do it is to ODIN a voodoo kernel that has CWM integrated into the kernel.
Also, make sure you never rename a rom to update.zip. always leave it as it's name and flash it that way.
Thanks everyone. It took some work, but about 99%. What a pain in the ass this turned out to be. I don't remember it being anywhere near the work for my phone.
Its because of all the new updates and different methods.

You will need to downgrade with lgnpst to root. It is in topic at top of page on irc.
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=lg-optimus-g
Yeah you will my bad also I don't know what i was thinking lol but I ran into that same problem and I restored back to like the day I got it and then rooted it and it worked just fine lol Some time's its just like that
Hop into the IRC to get the link to LGNPST so that you can downgrade. I think theres links in the other threads like the conversion, to get the link to the stock firmware. LGNPST is not hard to use, just make sure you have all the correct drivers installed and its quick and painless
I tried to rooting. But phone did not reboot, but it loses cell net.
I reboot it manually and phone now turns on screen for a half second and turns off. And I can not use it (unlock screen is not working).
I can run it in download mode. So what can I do? Download stock ROM and flash it? BTW, what app I need to flash stock ROM?

Updated: Thanks! Power+vol down almost a minute holdin resets data. Now phone is working normal.
Question: I also tried to root on E97011c and it got stuck after the restore part and nothing happened. Does this mean nothing was put on my phone? Is it possible it could become messed up now?
I don't remember accepting any ota but I'm rooted and unlocked and I am on software e90711c , I don't know if a ROM changed it or what, but I followed the guide and used the free gee app on play store to unlock boot loader. Not sure if this helps in anyway, but like I said I managed to do it and don't recall accepting any ota.
