[Q] Froyo update via KIES; best lagfix to use now? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently updated my Vibrant to Froyo using Samsung KIES and was wondering which lagfix would be the best to use. I rooted used super one click root and got the superuser icon. Downloaded oclf via market, but was unable to use either lagfix (errror - read only file; not enough space on /data). Is oclf not able to work on the updated froyo? Is there a Voodoo lagfix that would work? Also downloaded ROM Manager but was unable to reboot into Clockwork Recovery. Thanks.

A) Download the latest BusyBox from the market. Assuming you rooted correctly, you should now be able to flash CWM Recovery from ROM Manager and reboot into recovery.
B) Download the latest work from Team Whiskey... Bionix-v 2.2 and it comes with the Voodoo lag fix. Plus it's 100x better than the official 2.2 release.

[Q] how do i root the stock ka6 rom.

so i upgraded via kies mini and was just wondering if there is a specific way i have to root official ka6 froyo... its kinda giving me trouble. anything to do with the 3e recovery ?..
SuperOneClick will root, but not fix recovery (i.e clockworkmod and flashing roms)
To get a working clockworkmod, you'll have to use odin to flash on of the voodoo kernels because they have clockworkmod built in.
"if you amplify everything, nothing is heard"
this is so dumb, lol. oclf and z4 won't root it. ill try superoneclick. eugh.

[Q] cant get into clockwork mod on vibrant

Ok this is probably a noob question,
i have a vibrant 2.2 tmobile, i just did the 3e recovery mod so that i could root the phone, i finally got it rooted and Im positive it is (terminal emulator says # when i type su,and superuser is working so Im pretty sure its rooted) so when i go into rom manager and flash clockworkmod recovery it always says it works but i cant get into the new recovery only the stock and i cant backup my original rom, does anyone know how to fix this so i can get into clockworkmod recovery?
Im new to rooting so sorry if this is a extremely noob question.
from stock recovery, select "reinstall packages"
I tried reinstalling the packages from the stock recovery but it takes me back to the stock recovery, Ive tried that many times but i never get the clockworkmod recovery, i have no idea why it wont enter the clockworkmod recovery? Can i install it without rom manager?
Download "update.zip" that is attached to this post....place it on the ROOT of your sdcard (not in any folders)
now this is the voodoo edition of clockwork....we are going to want to disable this to avoid issues (sorry, i dont have a normal clockwork available). so also download the disable voodoo .zip attached to this post.
DONT UNZIP EITHER FILE. DOWNLOAD THEM, AND PLACE THEM BOTH ON YOUR SDCARD AS IS!!
follow these instructions exactly:
1. place both files on root of sd
2. reboot into stock recovery
3. "reinstall packages"
3a. if it brings the red clockwork recovery, move onto step 4.
3b. if you dont see clockworkmod, choose reinstall packages again...if you see it move onto step 4.
3c. if you still dont see it, i cant help you further
4. now that you are in clockwork, DONT REBOOT OR FLASH ANYTHING YET, we need to disable voodoo
5. in clockwork choose "install zip from sdcard"
6. choose "choose zip from sdcard"
7. scroll to the disable voodoo zip and select that...confirm install, select "yes"
8. it should take less than a second, youll see "installation complete". (if you see "installation aborted" dont worry, just move on with the steps...see my explanation below)
9. Reboot before flashing anything, very important
10. you are now ready to flash using clockwork mod
PS - im not sure if youre familiar with voodoo, what it is/how it works....but the disable voodoo zip is just a precaution. im not sure if voodoo is built into this edition of clockwork, or if you actually have to have a voodoo kernel to actually be able to activate it. even though i think you need to have a compatible kernel, its better to play it safe.
with that said THERE IS A POSSIBLILTY THAT WHEN YOU FLASH THE DISABLE VOODOO, YOU MAY GET "INSTALLATION ABORTED"....dont worry continue on with teh steps, that just means that voodoo does not actually exist for you, which is probably ideal anyway
It still didn't work, i must be doing something Ive tried everything but it just wont go to clockworkmod.

Have you tried the toolbox?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509
No i haven't tried toolbox yet but ill give it a shot.
I had a similar issue...
Are you getting the error "signature verification failed"?
No I haven't gotten a single error message, i flash clockworkmod recovery and it says success, I reboot into recovery i get the stock recovery, so Ive tried reinstall packages several times and i never get an error message although when I do hit reinstall packages it goes through in like 2 seconds but It never lets me into clockworkmod.
Use AIO Toolbox (recomended) -> install USB Vibrant drivers (if you don't have them, included with AIO Toolbox) and flash stock 2.1 rom (included in AIO Toolbox), after that use rom manager (from market) and install clockwork recovery, then download any kernel (for 2.1 rom of course) with root and flash it thru already installed CWM or flash ANY rooted custom rom - that's all (and it will take about 0,5h - not big deal).
toolbox is the way to go it will do everything for you just simply follow the steps from top to bottom. and you will be fine but before you go with tool box do read the noob guide it will surely make u understand the functionality of the toolbox. good luck
Hmmm......
Ok ill give that a try hopefully that will work.

This is the issue I am getting, even when using the files mentioned on this post.
How did you solve this problem?
EDIT: Just used the AIO Toolkit, restored to stock, rooted, installed ROM Manager, then went ahead and installed my custom ROM! HoneyGinger is talking to me and getting itself set up. Lovely!
Hey guys,
I was running 2.2 on my vibrant and was having issues with cwm as well. I followed the advice here and it worked great. Flashed Nero v3 and my phone is running like a champ!
Thanks again to everyone for their expertise.

[Q] Cannot install apps from Market and CWM Fails while Flashing ROM

I've Had this Vibrant since two weeks after it came out. I rooted it in March and was running Axura Mod 2.310. I was flashing the latest Axura Rom and the battery died. I Had to Flash it to stock. Now I cant flash a rom from CWM or using the AIO Toolbox. also Market will not let me download apps. can anybody help?

No CWR on Samsung Vibrant

Hi,
I'm currently using Samsung Vibrant (t-mo version) running Firmware 2.2, Baseband version T959UVKB5, Kernel 2.6.32.9.
My problem is I can never boot into ClockWorks Recovery. I've CWR's update.zip downloaded using ROM Manager. Rooted the phone using SuperOneClick.
When I boot into recovery and select apply update.zip, it gives me an error half way thruogh about verification failed.
So I replaced Android Recovery 3e, with another Android Recovery 3e which skips the verification. It installs fine but restarts back in Android's recovery. On rebooting I get a phone with everything back to default!
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
PS: I want to upgrade to CM7. which I had at one point but reverted because my bluetooth failed to connect to my headset.
Are you reinstalling packages twice?
Honestly, why not just odin to jfd and rather than boot and flash cwr, just use the update.zip in the noob guide.
I'd encourage checking that route (noob guide is in my signature).
I'm certain we could find a way for yours to work, but if you are going to try a new rom, using ODIN may benefit you anyway. It will not format your internal or external.
cant get or find cwr for samsung vib s.. been looking all night
go to the noob guide.
I am on Samsung Vibrant Froyo 2.2 T959UVKB5.
I have seen your post and it provides 2 update.zip files for JFD.
I do not want to install custom ROM, I just want to root the phone.
will that update.zip work on my phone?
If all you're doing is rooting just for the root apps and not for a custom rom you should use zip A. However the easiest method for you to root would be superoneclick root. Look it up, it will have you rooted with the click of a button (hence the name)... The only thing is that it may stir up your anti-virus, even though it is safe...

Thanks you!

ROM Manager after root?

So its to my understanding that you don't need ROM manager after you root the SF with clockworkmod installed during the root process. I ran rom manager after root, installed the latest clockworkmod from ROM manager, and then rebooted. Whenever I would flash anything it would go to the rom managers cwmr. But if i hard rebooted it with the volume keys it would go to Voodoo, which i assume takes the place of the stock Android Recovery. However, I tried to manipulate a nandroid back up in the VooDoo cwm, and it immediately sent me phone into a boot loop followed by a total brick of my phone. What do we need to use? I'm coming from a rooted Droid X before my fascinate.
Thanks!

Don't waste your time with ROM Manager if you're not running CM7. It doesn't work with the Fascinate otherwise. Stick with the CWM you put on there with ODIN. If I were you, I would get the tar file for CWM 3 and reODIN it.
I've since restored my phone back to stock, rerooted and gotten miui back the way I had it. Now unfortunately I didn't read your post early enough and mistakenly added rom manager again and installed their version of clockwork. Should I just boot recovery and wipe/reset. That'll get rid of the secondary clockwork I installed right?
