[Q] Best Instant Messenger App? - Nook Color Themes and Apps

Hello All!
I was wondering what everyone is using for instant messaging? I currently have MSN Talk installed, because that is what my girlfriend uses the most. I figured we could use it to communicate while I am busy flashing ROMs on my phone. However, it keeps signing me out. Anyone find anything that works really well?

Use IMO IM. It runs as an App on android, and also as a tab in your desktop browser, and supports all major IM platforms including Skype (w/ video) and Facebook....

i'm partial to trillian

They have trillian for the droid os? I've searched for it in the market. Id love to get that app on mu NC and my phone.
sent from my NC

I also use Trillian. Skype is ok but you can def tell it's not really made for the NC. Trillian works great straight off, IMO.

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like Trillian is going to be my best bet for an all around messenger.
If all you care about is MSN Messenger, I HIGHLY recommend you check out MSN Messenger: Mercury. It is absolutely gorgeous on the nook color. The text is easily readable by default, and you can change the font size in the settings. You can set your conversations up in chat bubbles, just like texting. It can be set to start on boot up, and it automatically reconnects if you disconnect for any reason. I am really impressed with it.

help for messenger

i need any multi messenger that support yahoo, msn etc. that can run either on wifi or edge, but it must be free, no trial
There are several out there such as Slick, BeeJive, OctroTalk, etc. I go for the first one.
messenger for hermes mobile
thx for your reply but where will i get those softwares as you replied to me "There are several out there such as Slick, BeeJive, OctroTalk, etc. I go for the first one."
Google them.
I would suggest palringo, but then, you might want to try several and see wich one fits you best.
Replace default messenger
Do any of the cooked ROMS allow you to adjust the default messenger? I'm using Slick as I have unlimited data but not text. I like it quite a bit I just wish I'd get standard notifications when a new message is received (i.e. lock screen, home screen etc)

[Q] Best Mail app on Market?

Read my sign to know the ROM I'm on - I wanted to know the best mail client available on the Market. The stock client sucks! Have tried K9 but the UI wasn't appealing.
Looking for a client that supports FREE mail services like GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail PLUS Exchange support for POP3, SMTP and IMAP. The UI should be very clean - somewhat like the iPhone mail app or even the Blackberry will do.
Straight forward suggestions are appreciated rather than suggesting me to change my phone etc.
want also a good email app. The stock is decent but not that great.
Not sure if its the "best", but I settled on maildroid after trying a few of the options out there...

I agree. Maildroid is indeed very good.
Its a bit off topic, but while looking to improve my mailing via samsung vibrant experience i found "perfect messenger". You can set it to whatever mail app you choose to use, and its a widget that you can place on you homescreen that lets you scroll through a list of 25 to 300 messages. You can have that incluce, sms, email, missed calls, calls, etc. and without having to even open any app its a really nice quick view of your incomings.
I'd also like a better email client. I've been using K9 just because I've never found anything better. I had tried SEVEN a while back, and while it had a nice interface, it was way too slow for my taste. http://community.seven.com/main.php
Maybe I'll give it another whirl since I'm on 2.2 now.
I had RoadSync back in my mt3g days. I liked it. Don't know if it's "the best"
Cant remember if it did pop and imap, but worked well with exchange.
in my opinion, MailDroid is your best bet.
Depending on the complexity of your configuration and how customized you want it to be, k9 will give you more configuration options... maildroid still gets the job done.. IMO
ymmv.. Best bet is to try both and see which you like.

send/receive Text Messsages via PC or MAC?

I'm a current iPhone user that is contemplating making the switch to Android. One of the things I most like about the iPhone is iMessage. Sure it's not cross platform. But for fellow iOS users, it's as simple as it gets. No need to launch any extra app. It's all baked into the standard messaging app, so it simply falls back to standard SMS if the user doesn't have iOS. And even more convenient is the ability to quickly send and receive iMessage on my Macbook. I'd say 90% of my friends and family use an iPhone so it's difficult to make the switch (Apple has me by the balls!).
But one thing that would make the switch easier is if I can at least keep the convenience of sending and receiving text messages from my Mac, and not through some hacky way of requiring a second line (Google Voice line). I want it to work with my existing number.
It seems as though this could be handled via Bluetooth, so that all messages are synced between Android and PC/Mac. Motorola offers a pretty cool feature called Motorola Connect (though this looks to be limited to Motorola phones, requires you use Chrome (ugh), and doesn't support MMS or group text messaging).
What are my options for having a convenient way to send and receive texts from a Mac or PC, and have it all synced up with my regular phone number? Thanks!
Looks like MightyText might be a good option, though I'm curious if people have other suggestions. Thanks.

I haven't played around with anything recently and from googling quickly there definitely seems to be a few new options out there, but I used DeskSMS and was pretty happy with it. Found that in the end, I ended up only using it once in a while and didn't reinstall on a new phone.

try MooMle the new alternative to DeskSMS
Try MooMle, it's brand new!
I installed it yesterday it works great. You can receive and send texts from your email.
But the most interteresting feature is that if the recipient is a MooMle user and he is online the text is FREE!!

Which Text Messaging App Do You Use?

So I reset my phone back to factory recently, and it has broken some of my habits. When I first got my LG G3 in July I choose the LG Messaging app as default and never looked back. After this reset, the Verizon Messaging app was the default, and I've been using it for a few days. So now I'm trying to decide which is better. I liked the UI of the Messaging app better than the Verizon Messaging app, but the Verizon one seems to have more features. It just feels like the UI isn't optimized for the LG G3 screen though. Some buttons are taking up a ridiculous amount of screen real estate.
At one point on an older phone I even used Hangouts for messaging, but it was screwy with Group MMS and I dropped it. They may have worked that out since...
Anyway, wanted to get an idea of what the majority of LG G3 users are using. Thanks!
I use the verizon message+ app for 2 reasons, first, it has a windows client so i can text from my computer which i love, and second, it has a really good pop up notification feature built in, both of those in the same app made me switch from google hangouts. plus, it syncs so when i switch roms i dont worry about losing any (or at least not many) texts. i have had issues with it not sending mms messages, but i havent tried that on Vanir (i just switched from JasmineROM because i was given info about knock code and quick remote apps.)
I use the Verizon App because it allows me to text from the Computer, syncs to my Tablet and lets me text from there as well, and I like that I don't worry about losing any Texts when I switch Roms. Plus, it has a pretty decent feature-set.
I have always used Textra. It doesn't have the PC to text option, but most of my friends have iPhones and the group messaging works perfect, and the option of removing the message text from the quick reply popup (since I have kids that can read). I have never used the message+ one, so I cannot comment on that.

I have been using this app for several years. IMO it seems to be the best messaging app for my needs. Way too many features to list. Is customizing your sms app your thing? Well they have got that covered.
Myself, I have got to be able to customize my app the way I want it in every aspect. Handcent allows you to customize it better than ANY SMS app that I have tried and I have tried all the major ones out there and many not so major. Each contact can be customized to your your needs.
ie: message background for all or each separate contact, fonts (style, color, size) and can even customize the quick reply box as well with differ fonts colors and sizes. Basically, you can customize every single aspect of this app.
It has backup / restore options for your messages and your settings and group messaging. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface on what all you can do with this app. I hope this helps shed some light on the Handcent app for ya.
Starting using Google Messenger after the recent update. A lot more efficient that Hangouts for me and with gif support it's perfect for me.
I use mysms. Pretty cool because it enables texting via a laptop or tablet but the SMS app for the phone is really nice too... Pretty similar in appearance to cm12 messaging app
I use textra sms tons of features but i use it especially for the quick reply option
Currently Chomp; came from Handcent.
Google messenger and I love it
Switched to Evolve SMS, so far so good!
Google messenger and hangouts

Text/video/sync app comparable to iMessage for Android?

I think I know the answer to this.. but figured I'd ask XDA. I recently took a very regretful 2 year detour away from Android and got an iPhone 6+. I'm now back to Android with an S7 Edge (after getting the Note 7 ) and I also got a Samsung Tab S2. The only thing I miss about Apple is iMessage. It really was perfect. I'm looking for an app that does Text / Video chat / sync's between my phone and tablet and is available for my Apple friends. It's looking like this isn't possible. Here are the apps I've tried (and failed).
Stock SMS: Splits long messages into a million pieces. Doesn't do Video. Can't see on tablet. Just sucks out loud.
Allo: Great for text and pictures, has send/read receipts. Available for iPhone/iPad. Has times when the message takes forever to send regardless of Wifi strength. Does not sync between phone and tablet.. making it worthless!
Duo: works good as Facetime alternative. But that is all it does. Boo
Google Messenger: Seemed to be better at not parsing long texts. But had issues with WiFi. Was getting texts not sent/received. I'd turn Wifi off and they would go thru. Plus no sync between devices. No video chat. Boo
Hangouts: Seems to be the best and only choice. Text and picture messaging great, Video chat, sync's between devices great, works for iPhone. The only issue here is you are making everyone you know not only download Hangouts, but have a Gmail account. Just for you... Plus no send/received notifications.
Is there anything I'm missing? HAS to be a better way!
