Read my sign to know the ROM I'm on - I wanted to know the best mail client available on the Market. The stock client sucks! Have tried K9 but the UI wasn't appealing.
Looking for a client that supports FREE mail services like GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail PLUS Exchange support for POP3, SMTP and IMAP. The UI should be very clean - somewhat like the iPhone mail app or even the Blackberry will do.
Straight forward suggestions are appreciated rather than suggesting me to change my phone etc.
want also a good email app. The stock is decent but not that great.
Not sure if its the "best", but I settled on maildroid after trying a few of the options out there...

I agree. Maildroid is indeed very good.
Its a bit off topic, but while looking to improve my mailing via samsung vibrant experience i found "perfect messenger". You can set it to whatever mail app you choose to use, and its a widget that you can place on you homescreen that lets you scroll through a list of 25 to 300 messages. You can have that incluce, sms, email, missed calls, calls, etc. and without having to even open any app its a really nice quick view of your incomings.
I'd also like a better email client. I've been using K9 just because I've never found anything better. I had tried SEVEN a while back, and while it had a nice interface, it was way too slow for my taste. http://community.seven.com/main.php
Maybe I'll give it another whirl since I'm on 2.2 now.
I had RoadSync back in my mt3g days. I liked it. Don't know if it's "the best"
Cant remember if it did pop and imap, but worked well with exchange.
in my opinion, MailDroid is your best bet.
Depending on the complexity of your configuration and how customized you want it to be, k9 will give you more configuration options... maildroid still gets the job done.. IMO
ymmv.. Best bet is to try both and see which you like.

Hello All!
I was wondering what everyone is using for instant messaging? I currently have MSN Talk installed, because that is what my girlfriend uses the most. I figured we could use it to communicate while I am busy flashing ROMs on my phone. However, it keeps signing me out. Anyone find anything that works really well?
Use IMO IM. It runs as an App on android, and also as a tab in your desktop browser, and supports all major IM platforms including Skype (w/ video) and Facebook....
i'm partial to trillian
They have trillian for the droid os? I've searched for it in the market. Id love to get that app on mu NC and my phone.
sent from my NC
I also use Trillian. Skype is ok but you can def tell it's not really made for the NC. Trillian works great straight off, IMO.
Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like Trillian is going to be my best bet for an all around messenger.
If all you care about is MSN Messenger, I HIGHLY recommend you check out MSN Messenger: Mercury. It is absolutely gorgeous on the nook color. The text is easily readable by default, and you can change the font size in the settings. You can set your conversations up in chat bubbles, just like texting. It can be set to start on boot up, and it automatically reconnects if you disconnect for any reason. I am really impressed with it.

I have been on lots of fourms. Att form is ok but you have to be careful of some of the advice same with other. This is the place to be.
One that note I like to hear from Blackberry coverts
blackberry still the best when it comes to email clients. Has anyone found a email program Paid or not that work as well as BB.
See if I can make myself clear. BB has all the emails from all your acounts. ( not just one but as many as you like) lets say gmail, hotmail, yahoo, comcast ect. They are all in on place. When you get mail they all show there in one icon. You cand send recieive and compose from this on place. you dont need to even go to your yahoo mail or your gmail. Its is all stored in one nice area along with saved file email deleted mail. not just for one type email client. And works with microsoft exchange.

Overall, I really like Kaiten and K9 email clients. However, the following issues are really annoying and would like some help if possible.
1. If I scroll down to the middle of my inbox to read a few messages
then switch to a different app; when I switch back to K9/Kaiten, the inbox automatically scrolls back to the top. Therefore, I lose my place EVERY TIME and have to remember how far down I was in the inbox. Any fix for this?
2. When reading an email in Kaiten, is it possible to make the LEFT navigational arrow bring up the next NEWEST email (going UP in the inbox) instead of the next oldest (down) email? (This works perfectly in K9)
3. When reading an email, if I switch to another app then return to the email, none of the navigational buttons work (ie. the arrows or volume buttons) to allow me to move on to another email. I must hit the back arrow to get to the email list which of course automatically scrolls all the way back to the top of my inbox and loses my place. ARGH!!!! (see #1)
4. Is it possible to change the font color in the signature and when
composing new emails?
5. Is it possible to change the font type (ie. Times New Roman,
Courier, etc.) in the signature and when composing new emails?
Is there another IMAP client out there that does NOT have these issues? In addition to K9 and Kaiten, I've tried Enhanced Mail, Touchdown, MailDroid, Moxier Mail, and the stock app of course. They all seem to have various issues. Maybe I'm expecting too much out of an app. The stock email app on my Palm Pre worked well for me!
Same, I can't find a good replacement with everything I need, The old wm6.5 email client was perfect for me.

I agree with the email limitations of Android apps and couldn't figure out how to do some of these either. Only thing I know of for issue #1 would be to star the email before going out so can easily find it again. Not a solution though I know.
If you haven't done it already, send a request to the app developers to add the features. Especially with #1 & #2 in your list. These would be good to have.
Yeah, I'm with you -- no Android e-mail client seems perfect. Of the ones I've tried, I ended up with Enhanced E-Mail (for IMAP) and the stock client (for Exchange).

I just learned that Enhanced Email also supports Exchange. This is the app that is working best for me right now.
Enhanced Email is by far the best email app, and much better than the built in app. It is however 10 bucks and that is a drawback, but it is worth twice that amount. The one thing to note is that Google changed what was available to third party email clients when it comes to contacts. That can be fixed with Contact Editor app.
I will give enhanced email a try. I've also been looking into a new mail client for Android.
I normally use touchdown, but it can be unwieldy (and the UI is all kinds of suck).
I've been using the Enhanced Email Trial for almost a week and I think I'm falling in love. Will probably purchase it soon...
I'm curious to know what instant messengers other people are using.
Currently I'm using trillian, and I like it, however I'd like the option to get a notification when certain contacts login (but not every contact). Is there any app that does this?
It would also be usefull if it supported multiple protocols, I'd rather not have multiple i.m. apps running at once.
tried IM+....only other multi client I know of with a decent gui...not sure about individual alerts based on contact
Should try talk.to. Amazingly simple UI and works really well.
https://market.android.com/details?id=to.talk
I forgot to mention, I need to use a messenger that works over data and not sms since I don't have a messaging plan. also I read this comment under the talk.to comments section "Changing the status of all my accounts to a Talk.to promotion without asking is completely unacceptable, and a shame because the app works great."
Anyone use Blue Mail as their mail app? Seems relatively new with only 10,000+ downloads, but has 4/5 stars in ratings. I dont want to use Maildroid with Ads and need support for Office 365/Gmail at the same time. It seems there arent very many apps other than the default mail app and Maildroid that support both simultaneously.

I use Blue Mail and I love it. However, I have an issue. Maybe I'm getting dumb in my old age, but I can't figure how to switch between different email providors. Any help?
