[Q] How to repair/restore broken market links? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I switched to Nero V5 from Axura. There is one issue that has been bothering me ever since I flashed Nero V5. I cant seem to restore/repair market links for my restored apps. I tried market doctor in Titanium Backup, also cleared dalvik cache...but nothing seemed to work.
Anyone has an idea how can I restore/repair the broken links?
Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is to just reinstall the offending apps from the Market. Then again, I'm not exactly an expert on the subject.

unfortunately this seems to be the only answer.....i have this problem as well on axura, and ive come to realize the hard reality thta nothing will work

When I flashed axura, at first the links were broken but after some tweaking they were restored. I don't know what worked ....I have tried everything. Oh well ....gotta restore them manually now :-(

not working for me, damn
i choose wipe data, Titanium confirms wipe is complete. then i choose market doctor, it scans my apps but tells me its found no recoverable market links. then i open my market and nothing has changed. it doesnt even look as though the wipe even took place, no disclaimer pops up.

^ odd, it found like 97 for me... this is something I do eveytime I flash a new froyo rom *reoccuring issue*.... always seems to work. I saw you posted you got it to work another way, not sure why this did not work for you and the other method did (since they are doing the same thing).

eh.....i was kind of wondering as well.....since flashing axura my tibu has been real quirky.

Thanks so much for the fix! I have been struggling to find an answer on google and many different forums..even contacted the developer.
I still do not know why titanium backup refuses to save my market links when I backup my apps + data but I will just stick to this simple work around

Wow... you just saved me wiping data/cache on my Droid X. This worked for me!

Nice to see those steps are helping you guys out. Not sure who told me the first time, but it's a life saver in my opinion. I did notice on ONE ROM it did not work the first time, but after I rebooted and tried again it did. Seems to consistantly work for me.

Hello,
sorry i have the same problem but i don't understand your procedure.
Do you have a Titanium backup full version?
I don't speak very well english, so can you explain me step by step again??
Thank you very much

^ yes, paid version of Ti Backup
in that app, select the market app (in the lost list of apps)
a popup shows, select wipe data
when done, press the back arrow, then menu, then market doctor
follow the prompts to restore broken market links
reboot phone
go to the market, accept the disclsore
everything should be okay now.

I fixed my links, at least the majority, by going into Titanium, going to market, clicking restore, then Data Only. Market Doctor wouldn't work for me at all.

Ok in my SE X8, thanks

wow.. big thanks bro

s15274n, indeed I am glad to have found your information. Thanks to XDA and your post.. my first post-rom flash has my marketplace back to normal.
Titanium Backup is quite excellent (well worth the nominal fee for a piece of software, and I suspect required for anyone tinkering)

How to properly use Titanium Back Up??

Hey All,
I would like to ask anyone who knows how I can properly use Titanium Backup I would really appreciate it. The problem i've had before is that when ever I backup I never seem to know how to properly back up my apps so I can also back up the data like my saved games on angry birds, and my tags on sound hound. If I back up and thn restore I always mess something up and my roms end up all screwed. please some one guide me!!!!
I usually only backup user apps. Press the options button on the bottom left of the vibrant. Then choose batch, then choose backup all user apps.

Like I said though, doing that only backs up the apps but it doesn't back up the data i.e. shazam tags, etc.

the pain of setting everything up again is actually the only thing keeping me from flashing a new rom. (flashed my mytouch so much that i only kept a few apps)
and can the free version do everything the paid version can do?

thanks alot. I'll look at it now. I hate flashing ROMS sometimes because I don't get my app data. It sucks having to start Angry Birds from leverl 1 every time I flash something!
I use mybackup pro n backup apps. ..gives option to backup apk + data. Has worked well for me. Don't have re -download apps or anything.
I know this doesn't necessarily answer the question but it gives a way to backup apps+data(bookmarks, texts, call log, settings, etc)

[Q] Unable to see particular App in Market

I am unable to see a particular free app listed in the Market on my rooted Vibrant running stock KB1. App name is "IBNLive" (com.divum.ibn). However, my friends are able access the app from their Captivates.
I tried to to use the Web Market, but it shows up "App is not compatible with your device" message and does not even give me an option to install it.
Is there a way to get this app on my phone? It is a simple news app - so if it can show up on the Captivate, why is incompatible with the Vibrant?
I just looked and I can see it there...

This usually does the trick but I also suggest downloading appbrain. I can always search appbrain for an app I don't see and it will link me to the market link. I actually had to do it with the XDA app.
I have experienced similar issues I cant see Music Junk and when I search for IBNlive it shows There are no matches in Android Market.
I noticed it when I went from Axura 2.2.9 to Flagship v3.
Possible user error on my part.

Install apps from market now does not work (devoid.froyo)

Since I installed devoid froyo, the apps that I try to install from market web does not appear on my phone I have checked everything....and It should be Ok). What can I do?
Something else, I have noticed that, the apps which I uninstall on the phone, continue appearing on the "Downloaded apps" section on market app. They continue here, but instead of "Installed" they say "Free" (Just like a normal app that you have not installed)
thanks!

Thanks dude for your suggest, but it continues! I dont understand why...I have tried everything and dont solve
Even the web market continues not working
I would back up what you need to and try a factory reset, thus if its a data problem it will all be cleared. I read about other people having the issue just needed to sign in to google talk (unfortunately for me I cant sign in, in england). If that doesn't work clear everything you can in recovery (except fat32 on the sd) and do a fresh install and try it with out making any adjustments to the rom. Check as you reinstall or delete things to find the fault. Android can be effected by odd things sometimes such as the wrong date or a error in the call log
Aaron, I think that If I do what you say, a complete wipe and fresh install, the bug would solved. But I think...is too much to do, copy all....backup...configurate again... and maybe I lose something, or any setting.....So I prefer continue with the bug and dont risk to install everything from 0
Thanks.
Titanium back up will save things like settings, call logs, and data with the apps (its just a pain to click install all the time) it has a batch back up and batch restore. But I suppose if you just restored everything you may re-introduce the fault. With CWM recovery you can do a advanced restore and select the partition you want to restore. Sorry I cant suggest anything more than wiping and deleting the gapps data
Dude I got the solution,
Even I was having the same problem.
Go to market > settings > filter
N select show all apps.
Thats it.
Reboot the phone n enjoy.
Press thanx if helped u.

I had to set my Titanium to restore to internal memory only, and show the apps as "Side-loaded" instead of integrated into the market....I had to do this too on my Bionic, not sure why though but it worked for me then.
How did you do this?
I realized that some datas were restored fine (Angry Birds) and others not (Astrid)

Hate to break it to you, but as I said MINE did. Both the RAZR and Bionic would start the restore and just stall somewhere before 40% no matter how long I left it, and always on a different app. I don't know why, maybe something to do with my particular backups, but it does require that for me.

i have the same problem with titanium. After a time it doesn't restore any app. Some of the apps are restored but i can't find them in the launcher. Weird...

Open titanium, click menu, click preferences, scroll down to app processing mode, tap it, choose interactive
it is a slower method because you have to hit install for every app but it works! good luck!
This happens to me quite often.. No idea why but uninstalling and reinstalling seems to work.

Help! I tried restoring 'Contact/Calls' now I get repeating error!

I have a rooted Evo LTE on the factory ROM and everything has been fine... until just now. I decided I wanted to recover my call log from my Evo 4G backup via Titanium Backup. Now, after a reboot, I get a popup that says:
"android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to send an error report to HTC? This will help us improve our products."
The problem is that when I click 'Don't Send' it goes away but then pops up again less than a second later. It literally will continue over and over again w/o any end in sight. My phone is bork and I don't know how to un-bork it at this point. Sometimes I wish life had an 'undo' option as I don't even really care that much about my call log. I was just trying to get fancy I guess.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my phone is pretty much useless at the moment.
I was able to navigate back to 'contacts/calls' within Titanium Backup between popups and click freeze. It froze and I no longer get those popups but I now get"
'Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped'
In addition to this I assume that my phone, contacts or something also doesn't work now that I've frozen 'Call/Contacts' but now maybe at least I can delete and restore this file with a proper working one?? Anyone??
Did you accidentally restore the Contacts/Calls application instead of the list?
You could have just synced the contacts to your gmail account on the OG EVO and they would have synced automatically on the LTE.

It wasn't the contacts I was after. All of my contacts are sync'd to Google so with the new phone I had all my contacts after logging into Google. I was just trying to restore my call log from my previous phone when all this began.
That Titanium Backup item is data only. Go back to Titanium to that line item, unfreeze, then wipe data. You should be good to go. Then maybe reboot to make sure there are no more force closes.
Edit: Actually, I may be wrong. There could be an apk with that as well. What I said above is still worth a shot, though. If it doesn't work you will have to find a way to restore that apk. Are you running a custom ROM?

That's the weird part was I thought that I did just restore the data. I'm about 97% sure that's what I selected in fact. I figured it would leave the app as is and then restore the data and bam! I'd have my call log. That's not the case. Clearing data from Titanium Backup was going to be my next step but didn't want to bork things any further. If you're saying it's safe to do I will attempt that.

No, like I said in the OP I've rooted a stock Evo LTE and that's all. Nothing else has been done.
Reboot into recovery (vol up + vol down + power and as soon as the phone powers off, let go of vol up) and fix permissions.

Good news. My advice would be to flash TWRP now though. Being rooted without having a custom recovery is mighty dangerous.

I agree and I need to. I need to unlock my bootloader first and I started the process but didn't have the files I needed at like step 8 or whatever it was. I guess I'll try harder to find what I need when I get some more time.
In case anyone is curious, the problem exists because you have a Facebook friend that has a birthday on February 29th. Either remove the Facebook friend or don't sync calendar data from Facebook. You will need to clear the data first and then re-sync contacts and live feed for it to work. Hope this helps. This is a bug that HTC needs to fix.
