Hi everyone,
I hope the question hasn't been asked yet, I searched but I'm not sure about what I found, so I open my topic
I just upgraded to FreeX10 Rom 2.2. I did a backup with backup&restore software, then I get a .sbf file.
My question: is there a way to restore from this sbf file, since the backup&restore app is no longer in this rom? I've heard about Nandroid, but I'm not sure it can uses an external sbf file.
Thanks for your help

i don`t think that`s possible `cause this roms doesn`t have anything from SE yet try this
enter o xRecovery
advanced
and
search for restora data only or something
not help, just stuck on boot and thats all but anyway thanks
I managed to flash back to 2.1 and use the original SE backup tool to restore all the data, and then used 3pp backup tool to do the backup.
btw, it seems that SE has OEMed "Sprite Backup", however Sprite Backup cannot recover the SE sbf directly.
hope it helps.

If you used the backup and restore tool Sony Ericsson gives you in 2.1 you won't be able to restore with it in 2.2 because that's Sony Ericsson's app, which is dependant on all the modifications they made to android.
Normally I'd recommend making a back-up with Xrec and restoring only the data portion of it upon upgrading but that seems to have adverse affects when changing android versions so the best you can probably do is make a backup with Titanium or something similar and just use that.
Solution
In case you guys are still having this problem (we had a similar problem with a later Android upgrade to 2.3.3), you can try the following solution:
CAN NOT POST LINKS
Edit: Try googling "HOW TO RESOLVE AND RESTORE SBF FILE AFTER UPGRADING FROM 2.1 TO 2.3 GINGERBREAD?" to get a guy's facebook post. The solution is contained in that post.
Basically, there's a guy who solved this by posting links to the Backup and Restore software:
CAN NOT POST LINKS
CAN NOT POST LINKS
(the version on the Sony Ericsson website wouldn't install for me, but the elita-clan version worked just fine... and AVG reports no virus!)

how did you get back to 2.1 to back up ?
i have the backup and restore app sbf file and all i want to do is restore my contacts and messages. but i cant seem to make it work
The method described above works great. (It uses backup_and_restore_v010935.apk, which is about the same than in stock 2.1 & FreeX10 2.2)

Since this is a SE system app I think you need to pull with adb, maybe it works.

Hello,
I have a xperia x10a with 2.1 with latest BB+FW installed.
JIT+xRecovery installed.
I Have few questions.
1) I would like to really try out 2.2 on my x10 but I was wondering, How the backup and restore thing works on xrecovery. I want to get back to 2.1 if I want to use video recording.
2) If I go to 2.2 will I loose any data?
3) How do I backup my applications? (Titanium?) I can fairly use myphone for all my backups but how to do applications and settings since I have tons of customizations on my phone right now
4) I want to try a new theme for my 2.1 but I don't know how to restore back if something goes wrong / I want to get back to default theme. How can I do that? (I thought xrecovery would restore entire image..I.e I'm guessing I'd loose all my recent calls and stuff?)
Please clear my doubts. Thanks for your time in advance.
1) backup with xRecovery
2) Yes.
3) use Titanium
4) ThemeMaking, if something goes wrong reflash
Hi all,
So, I gave this HTC Aria to my girlfriend with Liberated 2.1 installed. She ran into some troubles, why I asked her to install the new liberated 2.2 version from this forum. I backed up the phone with nandroid. I told her how to wipe and install the new software over the phone.
Now she started it and all the apps, texts and documents are gone.
What can I do to get it back on an easy way? Restoring only the DATA-part of the backup from nandroid didn't work. Will a full restore get her back to 2.1 or will it implement here data and apps into 2.2?
Is reinstalling the 2.1 ROM and restoring afterwards a possibility to get her back to status quo?
Thanks so much in advance!
restore her backup which will take her back to 2.1 with all her data. Go to app market and download my backup root. Pick what you want to back up. Then delete cache and data and install 2.2. Go download my backup root and click restore. Now restore your data and most of the data will be there after the phone reboot besides the android settings, sometimes clock alarms, and bookmarks.

Wow, sounds great!
Thank you very much!!!
No problem

Ok, problem solved, which should've been asked in the Q&A thread by the way.
Now that we have a few good GB ROM's available and all us X10 users have something new to flash again, here's how you can successfully backup your apps and data from 2.1 and then restore to your new 2.3.3.
Backup and Restore is working with 2.3.3
Those who made a backup, can restore all their data by installing the SE backup and restore app. [apk attached below]
Those who made a backup from My Backup, please refer to the instrucions below:
Messages and Call Log using My Backup Root: If My Backup doesnt restore your data, copy the backup data from sdcard/rerware/MyBackup/AllBackups to your computer or another folder in sd card. Delete rerware folder from sdcard, uninstall the app and install new My Backup Root from Market and copy the backup to the new directory(sdcard/rerware/MyBackup/AllBackups). Then restore.
Even though the tool backs up your contacts, it may restore them to 2.3.3 somehow.
Use export contacts (in phonebook options)to make a vcf file and then restore using a third party app like Import Contacts.
APPS: We all know the magic of Titanium Backup. Use this tool to backup all your apps and I hereby confirm that most apps can be restored in 2.3.3. For others, reinstalling from the Market would do the trick, depending upon the app of course.
And those switching between different versions of 2.3.3, can use SE Backup and Restore or XRecovery for an advanced restore to restore only the data.
Wishing you a successful Restoration

Finally SE released 2.3.3 and our hard working XDA developers sprang into action.

Please note: SE Backup and Restore is not meant to work in 2.3.3 Even though most members already know these apps, still useful for those who don't.
Contacts: I strongly suggest backing up your contacts in a vcf file using the SE backup service. There are options of import and export along with it. You can save the backup on ur SD card. Once you are on 2.3.3, you can import your contacts using a third party app like Import Contacts by edam. The ROM only gives you the option to import contacts from SIM card. But with this app, you can get all ur contacts back.

Messages and Call Log: Use My Backup Rootto backup your call log and messages. Even though the tool backs up your contacts, it wont restore to 2.3.3 somehow. This is still being investigated.

(Adding to that note
I have tried restoring data from Wolf's ROM. All apps with data restored Force Closed on the update. So please don;t try restoring data because something potentially for the worse may happen.
I would suggest you try the methods I have suggested. I have been able to restore all my data without any hassle. Sharing this with all you guys for the same reason. Of course all the backups must be made before flashing 2.3.3

I used MyBackup root, and data didn;t work for me. How did it work for you?
Backed up the data with My Backup Root while on 2.1. Copied the backup (sdcard/rerware/MyBackup/AllBackups ) to a computer(or a new folder in sd card). Flashed WB 2.3.3 and installed the new My backup root from Market. Copied the backup data to sdcard/rerware/MyBackup/AllBackups Then restored and voila!
It is very easy...check my post...

Never trust SE again. They said Backup and Restore wont work. And it actually works flawlessly. Shd have tested before going by SE's words.
Thanks a lot mate.
Those who only made a backup using My Backup Root/Pro, please follow the instructions in the first post to restore ur data.
I do not understand, why they didn't warn us or something about this.
And I do not understand why, they did not add the app in this update.
It's just silly

Silly is the right word.
Okay, so I've switched from .62 to MIUI and now I can't install SE Backup & Restore, which is stupid, considering the PC Companion still recognizes my phone as an MT15. I succeeded in installing one version for the X10 (found here on xda), but it doesn't do jack, it sees my backups but doesn't want to restore them (when I select one, it just goes right back to the backups list).
So, is there any way to install the original one? Unknown sources is ticked, btw. I've tried everything, downloading from 3 or 4 sources, installing to internal as well as SD Card, nothing works. I couldn't care less about the apps or the messages, but I really need the contacts.
Anyone know what could be wrong here or if there's another app to open sbf files?
I hope you took a backup with cwm.If yes restore it back and backup your contacts to memory card.Or use app like mybackup pro
If you didn't took a backup with cwm, then flash back to stock rom and restore backups you made with SE backup & restore. Then take a backup with my backup pro and move back to miui I guess.I am not sure app my backup pro works on miui or not tho.
Well, that sucks.
I was kind of hoping there was some sort of workaround for this issue. Isn't there any way to open that file? Had I known it was such a piece of junk, I would've backed up using different apps. I really don't want to flash the old rom since I just installed this one...
Thanks for the reply though

Well flashing back the old rom for 10 mins is nothing that hard,so do it I guess.btw what is this SE backup and restore(got no idea what is this tbh) ? Also MyBackup pro didn't worked with Achitjan semc debrand rom for me,so you should use something that works in miui to backup and restore I guess.
same problem here anyone has the solution
