HOW to...Vibrant

help, ive tried to root so many times using the superoneclick rooting method, and i dont know why it isnt working, im usb debugging, and everytime, the program stops at waiting for device and then stops responding, i have to force close it cuz it stops responding. Ive looked at the forums but theres too many, and very little for the vibrant, ive tried what they say but come out with an phone not rooted. Can someone give me detailed information about what to do, and not just give me a link to a forum ive probably already read.
Do you have a android 3e recovery? Or you can't root straight up because I rooted fine with superoneclick root even after the 2.2 upgrade

ok cool sounds good
*Download SuperOneClick root on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
*Run SuperOneClick Root (remember to enable usb debugging)
*Download the files on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423
*Put both of the files found on step 3 in the root (not in any folders) of you INTERNAL sd card.
*Download root explorer on the market .
*Copy the recovery found in the 3e_recovery_installer.zip* in system/bin
*Copy the keys file found in the res into the efs file
*Run shell root on SuperOneClick
*Now enter the 3e_recovery_installer.zip on your computer and run the bat file found in there
*Go download Rom Manager in the market, flash clockwork recovery, and Reinstall Packages in recovery you may have to do this more than once

What OS are you on?
Did you download the update.zip and move it to the root of your internal sdcard (no folder)?
Doesnt sound like it.
Edit, also your post was not deleted... just in the wrong section.

you had posted in the development forums
but as to your problem i have experienced this in the past. i was never able to fix the problem with out using odin or the aio toolbar (nomaraider linked to) to revert to stock. It could be something as simple as you having a bad download resulting in corrupted files. if you wish to use odin there is a mirror for all the odin files you will need in my sig.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737 this is a good place to start for how to use odin
Superoneclick program found by searchin for it here, shortfuse ...z4root, not available in the market no more..use google...

no you dont need a external card. it goes on root internal sd card
OP, have you checked the noob guide in my signature? It may really help explain the process, and provide any files needed.
If for whatever reason you still dont understand after reading the noobguide you may also wanna pop over to youtube and check out videos from mobiletechvideos they give a good visual to go along with the the noon guide.
On youtube search mobiletechvideos vibrant and a whole bunch of videos will pop up but first read the noon guide or you likely wont understand fully what is going on in the videos.

[Q] Un-rooting question

Bit of a noob question here, as my ADB proficiency is a bit lacking... In the sticky titled "Return to stock properly and safely" the instructions refer to pushing a file called "misc.img," however, when I attempt this, it obviously finds no file with that title. I've downloaded the two files from the post and tried them both on the root of my drive and in the tools folder of the SDK, but with no luck. I'd like to unroot for the time being to compare rooted performance to stock performance (i'm sure I'll end up rooting again before long... I bore easily!) Any input from the pros would be welcome! Thanks!
I'm pretty sure you can just slap on the pg05 img onto your sd card, reboot into stock recovery and let it load..

sounds like you dont have your path set correctly if you placed it in the tools folder and it didn't push You could manually cd your sdcard or whichever location the misc.img file is placed in to push it if your path IS set correctly and I'm overlooking something...
you have to extract the misc file to your tools file

[Q] Point me in the right direction

I want to create a Odin or zip of the recovery that is on my phone. Right now I have two Fascinates, Froyo on one and GB on the other.
Is there any How-To or anything as far as that gos that can explain the process of pulling the recovery and creating the update file. I have searched the forum and the net but have not found anything.
Thanks
Here's what I think your looking for??

I've tried using this method on both stock froyo, and gb... neither worked. I ripped all the info, including the personal stuff. The regular system files were the normal sizes.. the movinand.bin was 4GBs.
I tool all the files and made one single tar file, then did the md5sum, etc... using cygwin, filesize was approx 4.4GB. When I tried to flash it back with odin it fails at the beginning.
I've been thinking too... would it be possible to tar/md5 each of the files individually? Then using each of the odin slots accordingly.
What about flashing a complete stock odin img first.. then flash my apps/data/info seperate.. with odin.

Why won't my phone recognize the GalnetMIUI zip file?

I've tried every source for days but my phone simply doesn't pick it up. Also, all the zip files from the sources are about 5,000 KB while the one of the ROM I am running (UnNamed) is about 103,000 KB. Can someone please help?
Are you trying to flash from recovery? If yes, did you read the first post and, as instructed, flash the earlier version of GalnetMIUI before the latest 21126 update? Finally, last i looked the latest update was in the form of a RAR file and needs to be unpackaged before rebooting into recovery. And last, there's an audio issue with version 2.11.26 so be sure to read the last few pages of the topic for the fix.
I flashed today and ran into the audio issue, but the fix smoothed it out flawlessly....

I've been following this topic. Be sure to read from about page 82 because there's important info.
There's a fix posted by a user with the name Task### for the audio issue.
I was running 1.11.9, flashed the update, encountered the audio issue, flashed the fix. Everything's fine.
No wipe.

Sounds like your download is corrupted if your files are only 5k. Did you try downloading on your computer and then transferring the file to your phone?
I d/l directly to sd and extracted the rar there, then rebooted into recovery. Found it OK but had to navigate to the folder (mine is /sdcard/downloads). Not sure it's any help. Maybe 21cdb is right the file is corrupt.
