I've tried every source for days but my phone simply doesn't pick it up. Also, all the zip files from the sources are about 5,000 KB while the one of the ROM I am running (UnNamed) is about 103,000 KB. Can someone please help?
Are you trying to flash from recovery? If yes, did you read the first post and, as instructed, flash the earlier version of GalnetMIUI before the latest 21126 update? Finally, last i looked the latest update was in the form of a RAR file and needs to be unpackaged before rebooting into recovery. And last, there's an audio issue with version 2.11.26 so be sure to read the last few pages of the topic for the fix.
I flashed today and ran into the audio issue, but the fix smoothed it out flawlessly....

I've been following this topic. Be sure to read from about page 82 because there's important info.
There's a fix posted by a user with the name Task### for the audio issue.
I was running 1.11.9, flashed the update, encountered the audio issue, flashed the fix. Everything's fine.
No wipe.

Yes I tried to flash from recovery and I even found a zip version of the file but my phone simply wont recognize it

Sounds like your download is corrupted if your files are only 5k. Did you try downloading on your computer and then transferring the file to your phone?
I d/l directly to sd and extracted the rar there, then rebooted into recovery. Found it OK but had to navigate to the folder (mine is /sdcard/downloads). Not sure it's any help. Maybe 21cdb is right the file is corrupt.

Since those affected by this problem will not be able to flash this cwm zip, note that you can extract the update.zip out of the /sdcard/ directory in the cwm zip. Replacing that may work out...

Delete the existing update.zip file and replace with working update.zip file.

i tried that. i had it on my pc. didnt work.
i just started from DL09 and worked it back up to blackhole 4.1
works just fine now.
Take the fixed CWM update.zip from the above post. Drop a copy on your sd card. Copy it into the clockworkmod folder and rename the copy recovery-update.zip. Will work on both ends then.

I've replaced update.zip with working version, flashed JT's modified version, copied and renamed to CWM folder.
It now goes directly to modified Red recovery.
Thank you for the useful info.
meeeeee too
Thanks Daswolven, worked like charm.

I'm having an issue flashing a ROM via the sdcard zip file option.
I have (afaik) successfully installed CWM. Had an issue at first with it rebooting every 30 secs but reflashed the kernel and now it seems to work ok. However, when I try to flash a rom and go to the sdcard zip file option, it'll list several folders but not the ROM I want to flash. I have put the ROM on the sdcard in no folders (root folder) and am really at a loss.
I apologize in advance for any n00bish ways. I went through 2 cycles on iOS devices and decide to forgo the jailbreak cat and mouse chase and go android. I haven't regretted it yet. But I could really you some advice on this problem. Really looking forward to getting my phone rooted.
Much Love in Advance

All I know to say is if you put a .zip file on the sdcard you should be able to see it from cwm recovery. When you boot the phone normally can you see the file in file manager?
Which ROM are you trying?
And are you putting the file on the phones internal sdcard or an external sdcard?

I was trying the unnamed ROM -- I just have it on the sdcard in the phone. I see it fine when I plug it in and look at it through windows. What file manager are you referring to?
I have to go to work but later on tonight I'll probably try reflashing CWM and see if that helps.

Any file manager will do, there its one app named "My Files" that came with the phone. If you can see the file from that file manager you should be able to see it in cwm recovery.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I found it. Apparently, what appears to be the main folder in windows is actually the /externalsd folder. Found it in the stock file manager and was able to copy over the file and get it rooted. Thanks for your help!

Is anyone else experiencing difficulty with the Kitchen in this version? None of the kitchen tweaks will work, they download fine, and it goes thru the regular process of installing, however none of the programs seem to be functioning after installation. Just checking with anyone else before I try re flashing. I did do a full wipe before install.
2.3.6
xxki4
Siyah 2.3
Checkrom V4
The same thing is happening with me. It downloads the files just fine but when it tries to install them, it restarts to the wrong recovery (not clockworkmod). You can see the things fail installing because of the <!> that comes up in the recovery for a split second.
How can we get it working? The only way I've done it is to manually restart to the right recovery, and then manually install each zip.
Reinstall the kitchen app
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Try installing them from recovery, you have to delete or rename the clockworkmod folder on the external sd card in order to install things directly from the kitchen.

salted_hash in clockworkmod folder
Found the culprit:
Q: I am not able to flash via Kitchen???
A: Delete Clockworkmod folder
Reason:
Previously to make the kitchen flash in older version of CWM5 we need to use a salte hash file that was placed in the Clockworkmod folder, Now with the updated CWM5 the actually problem with CWM5 was fixed by the respective creator!
So now what happens is that all you people have that salted hash file remaining in ur sd card that doesn't allow to flash stuff in the newer better CWM5, thats why when u delete the Folder it stats working coz the salted hash file gets deleted!
Now you may ask why delete the folder, when u can delete the file only!!
LOL answer is simle the Android os never recognizes the file there so when u open myfiles you never find the salted hash file inside the clockworkmod folder! You can use other apps and methods to delete the file but then there is the obvious questions from noobs!!
So Moral the problem is only with that one salted hash file and not ur backup.

So you can delete the entire folder, or just the "/sdcard/clockworkmd/.salted_hash" file. This worked for me.
Correct just the salted hash needs to go, there's no need to lose your backups. If you do delete the folder next time you do a nandroid it will only get recreated without the salted hash.

Just to check with you guys. is there any wipe of checkrom available?it appears that there is only the no-wipe version.
I have been doing a lot of restoring, it would be nice to just be able to push the flash rather than geting an os installed, installing a recovery and then recovering.
I saw something for another samsung device and it involved dd'ing files and then putting them into a tar. but i suspect the /dev/xxxxxx files would be a different name on the GT10.1?
Thanks
Rob
I've tried opening a tar file before, in it was all .img files eg. system.img, boot.img and so on. So my guess is you have to create the .img files, tar them up and flash via Odin.

Right, but they are dumps of the /dev/system|recovery|... file systems from using dd to get a binary image, they are not the files like in a zip. which is why, if my reading is correct, zips actually get processed (extracted and moved) and the files in the odin.tar are binary dumps and they just get splatted back out into the file system like a Norton Gost restore. The trick is knowing which /dev/xxxx/ systems to pickup. I found a link right before leaving for work that seems to suggest if I get rooted and busybody on, I should be able to run an fdsik -l and get a list of the partitions.
I just got the stupid tablet back to stock ICS 4.04 this morning after running updates last night, so I hope to have some time play today.
I was just gonna make this little tutorial to take some work off of The actual Dev for the Project(Beastmode) thanks again for your work brother
In his newest alpha release of safe strap we're able to replace the stock rom slot with a 4.3 Touchwiz ROM, I have seen people report that they have flashed certain roms without having to do any modification, but this is a safety precaution.
First you will need your rom of choice, in this tutorial I'm using N3BULA.
Download the rom and extract the contents to a folder on your pc or phone, PC is much easier, but you can edit on your phone as well
The files you need to edit are under META-INF/COM/GOOGLE/ANDROID that's actually the only files
Im using his modified files from the dev thread for comparison.
First we'll open the Aroma-Config
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2650078&stc=1&d=1395786107
Pardon the crude screen shot method but this will show you the changes and where they are.
Modified is on the left and Stock that came with the rom is on the right. Make the Changes and save
Next is Updater-Script
Same crude method of screen shot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2650086&stc=1&d=1395786357
you can see where the two differ, so just edit that out as well.
Left is modified, Right is stock
Save Changes
Edit 3/26 you can also delete boot.img in zip
Make sure these files are on external sd card as well as the rom, boot into recovery, always make a nandroid backup, wipe and flash.\
This is the first time I have made a tutorial, so if its rough around the edges please excuse my forum newbness
if I missed anything definitely feel free to add, and once again A HUGE THANK YOU BEASTMODE.
Hopefully in a few hours or days these edits wont be needed.
how do we go about putting them into the rom zip file?
You edit them in the rom zip file... extract the rom and it moves as a zip, my case was it downloaded to storage sdcard (internal). I extracted it to ext sdcard and then went in and edited it. It still remains a zip
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
Easy way is to use 7 zip. Extract the ROM and make the changes. Now right click on original ROM and select open archive. From there u can place the modded files. Now the ROM.zip is still flashable.

of course as soon as i posted it, i figured it out, unfortunately i can't get alliance to work afterwards, it installs but doesn't boot
I'm using alliance atm on safestrap. Don't mod anything. Just choose the stock kernel when you get to that point in the installer.
So glad to see you post that.!!! Been talking to a guy about it for about 2 hrs about it now, I actually told him it should work as long as agni wasn't chosen, thanks for clarification

I don't get it I edited the zips and then when i try to flash in recovery it just says failed? it doesn't give me a specific reason. This is for n3bula rom. But i extracted using winrar, deleted boot.img, changed the aroma config and updated zip using wordpad, zipped the rom and it doesn't seem to work. is there something i'm doing wrong?

After you deleted the boot.img there is no point in editing the rest. I used 7zip to unzip and rezip and have not had any problems yet. Winrar might be causing problems for all i know as i never use it. I'm not around my pc for the most part atm but i haven't had any problems flashing 4 or 5 roms with just deleting the boot.img.

I ended up fixing it. I tried doing it through winrar and from root explorer on my phone. The way I got it to work was actually downloading the aroma-config file and uodater-script file from the development thread that beast mode provided and changed those. He happened to use nebula as well so everything is working great

Excellent. Thank you!!!
Sorry for the dumb question but what do I do if the rom of choice isn't showing up on the root of my extSD?
EDIT:
Nevermind, to anyone who saw my last post(s), I'm an idiot .
Ran through Odin, re-rooted, re-installed Safestrap, now installing N3bula Rom.
Hope all goes well. And sorry for any inconvenience!
Hope my donation helped out some Beastmode!
