Screen flicker (lines through screen) normal? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had my vibrant 3 weeks and every now and then I get little black lines through my screen, like the screen is breaking up a little. It seems to only happen when I am web browsing.
I've searched a bit and one post mentioned that it is wifi interference. Can anyone confirm this or do I have a defective unit? It seems to be happening more since the 2.2 update and I also get a 1 second blackout occasionally on some websites.

mine doesent d o that im on ka7 try flashin diff rom see if the problem is still there and if u halways had ur phone on minimum brightnes try turning it up for some time let screen brak in ,and i dont think the lines are normall anyway lol i wouldnt hestitate to try repalce the phone if i was you .

I dont think Ive ever noticed that happening with mine...I do get "lag lines" or whatever on flash if Im watching something and sites with alot of flash tend to lag behind a bit which may be you delay on certain sites.
I ll keep a lookout on my to to see if I notice anything.

Regardless of what kind of fault it is, you should get the phone replaced.

I had it too sometimes. It's normal in my opinion.
But if you want you can try to get a replacement.
Backup data and factory reset is first step .

software bug. I used to get it in GB roms, but after a bit of testing it seems it's gone in XXKP8 (4.0.3). either way imo it's too minor to warrant a replacement.
@lonathe is the problem still there in your device? or has it been solved by updating to ICS???
@JJEgan i even flashed a new rom

[Q] 3g keeps switching off

im having problems with my 3g on my phone its a samsung galaxy s 2 gt i9100 and version 2.3.3*it keeps turning on and of randomly for no reason some times it just goes of and other times it actually deactivates itself.
ive removed juice defender which i thought was the cause but its still switching on and of randomly somtimes it will last for a hour or so other times it wil go on and of every 5 mins.*sometimes i can simply switch the data mode on and of and that works but most times i have to reboot the phone and everytime i reboot it the internet is back on.
what could be causing this its driving me made as i use my phone as a router most of the time. i know its not the network im on because it happens in every country i go to on a new sim.*is there a simple solution is it a android fault or samsung fault?
anyone have a solution to this as i really like my samsung phone but this problem is really annoying.

[Q] Vibrant Shutdowns

Hey guys, long time xda user but never really bothered making an account and posting lol, but **** just got serious so I need some specific help. So I have been flashing roms almost since the first day I got this phone, never had a problem not even flashing ICS roms. But in this case, I was running [ROM] Blue 2.2 Frankenstein-FishmanMod Final and it was working perfect, had battery for days, no lag , and everything was smooth as usual. Then out of the blue, my vibrant decides to shutdown(no I still got plenty of battery left), so I wouldnt call this an infinite reboot because it doesnt reboot it just shuts down every time I turn it back on! It usually shuts down a couple of secs after I turn it on. And now im having a hard time even getting to CWM. I tried odin(multiple times) but no cigar, problem still persist. WTF . Does anyone know what I can do?
You could try to wipe everything if the phone dosent shutsdown, did you try using Heimdall(I think thats the name) and what especific problem you have with Odin?

[Q] Any hope for my Vibrant?

I was trying out Passion ICS RC1.1 but was unable to maintain a data connection, so I tried to use CWM to restore to my Nandroid of Trigger 3.2 Final. Unfortunately, it looks like due to the GB Bootloader that was a bad idea.
Now when I turn my phone on I just see the name "Adyscorpius" under a green Android, it never progresses beyond that screen. When I try to access download mode to Odin I just see a non-spinning, gray battery icon in the middle of the screen. It never proceeds to the actual charging screen even when plugged into the wall. I tried every combination of Vol +/- & PWR, plus taking the battery out and switching the order of battery or USB connection but no matter what I do I can't get into Recovery/Download.
I ordered a JIG off of eBay but the item description said "If you don't see the 'Triangle Error Message' this jig won't help." I haven't seen any triangles in all of my troubleshooting - just the two screens I mentioned. Am I most likely out of luck?
Wow, that's all it took?
As I was reviewing my own post I had an ephiphony "What if the bootloader changed the default keys for Download mode?" I did a Google search for "Adyscorpius download mode vibrant" and what do you know - it's changed from Vol +/-, to just Vol + & PWR. Tried it and on my first time I got to download mode. Now I feel silly for having spent hours unsuccessfully trying to fix it. Leaving this post in case anyone else runs into the same problem and attempts to search for it.
Be careful with passion, I fried my vibrant on v12
If you ever see the "encryption unsuccessful" message after a reboot, you're screwed, no internal memory, if I were you I'd let the releases go one ahead and stay behind reading EVERYTHING that others are saying.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't think I'll be leaving Fishmanmod/Bionix-V until I get a new phone when my contract is up for renewal. Passion seemed nice to look at but I was getting less than a third of the battery life that I got with Trigger and I've read Fishmanmod has even better battery than that! Not to mention, no previous ROM I've tried has been quite this smooth before.
Nope, I was wrong
Guess I won't be staying with Fishman. I got so used to being able to use the Camera and Music Player below 15% power that I had forgotten that was a feature exclusive to the Trigger ROM. The buttery smoothness can't quite make up for that. Okay, definitely sticking with Trigger until I get a new phone

[Q] Screen Problems following ICS Update

Hey guys, so I just updated my att galaxy s2 via kies to android ICS however after that I've ran into some problems.
After updating however I encountered a period where the screen went black and the phone kinda just died on me. After restarting I began to encounter some problems. For some reason, whenever the phone goes to sleep and and then wakes up, my screen gets flipped upside down and the screen gets really bright. Despite that, I still have to press the screen like usual. Which means that if the call button is at the top after flipping, I still have to press the bottom of my screen. Also the screen isn't perfectly flipped and there is space above the top bar.
However, the phone does work fine on bootup, and only fails after it sleeps. Also, very recently my phone just went through a screen repair after the screen cracked under the glass, but otherwise that I have no clue what's going on.
Is this just a poor repair and a hardware problem or is their another problem here?
Also I've tried a factory reset and that didn't help.
Thanks for any help you can give.

considering this board is all about CUSTOMIZING devices... I dunno about that. Maybe try the AT&T site?
Maybe one of our divas will be kind enough to help anyway.
Yes, I mean divas, also referred to around here as devs. I <3 u all!

Yeah I kinda got that gist =P
but, after searching through the web, there weren't really a lot of sites that I came across detailing about my problem, but this was one of the sites that came up a lot so I was just hoping if anybody, just anybody could help me out with this.

There are alot of things that could go wrong when flashing ROMs.
All of the custom ROMs here have built in safeguards which allow users to recover from issues involved with flashing. The same cannot be said about stock builds.
Unfortunately, your options are limited if you're going to stay stock. You can either try a factory reset and re-installing the update via KIES or you can call AT&T. That's pretty much it.
Personally, i'd Mobile Odin a rooted package with CWM and start flashing some of the wonderful work the developers have graciously allowed us to partake.

OP, I agree with the sentiment here, but you can't use mobile odin until your are already rooted. One option you could follow the guide linked in my signature to root the phone and go from there.
My personal suggest is that if you're running stock ROM, updating an official stock ROM and having problem, I call the provider for help.
My download and install went fine but I incounterd some unusual problems afterwards. My phone doesn't always keep a data signal while browsing the internet and a phone reboot makes it return. Setting browsers home to Google instead of default AT&T doesn't stick. I also had few dropped calls and very low signal bars in status bar at my house which gingerbread gave me full ones.
