Music player is the only app I have heard of currently in any roms. I dont remember the one tho...

Honeycomb music player was posted for the Vibrant, I tried it, wasn't impressed, kept Doubletwist.

dont you mean to match with froyo? its already honeycomb by default right?

I think you need to edit the manifest inside the apk, if anyone knows how to do this please let me know.

The gmail and talk apks aren't in that download.

Nothing I can find will decompile any of the apk's. Sorry guys.

You can open the apk's with winrar.

I get errors when trying to open the manifest for editing though?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

i decompiled the apks, but the xml is in binary. i converted that and changed the values but i dont know how to convert it back to binary. without binary the xml wont be recognized by android. any help would be appreciated?

Thats why you cant just open them in winrar. They have to be decompiled to edit them. Cant do that with the tools currently available.

You do not need to put the apk in the system folder you can just install it from any folder just like you are install an app from the market, no reboot necessary.

I havent tried this app yet, but Im guessing you would just reset the defaults for the program. settings>applications>manage applications>search and tap on the app>scroll down and tap on clear defaults
Has anyone noticed the little equalizer next to the song stays on as the song is playing even when I stop the song I just wonder if this is eating up anyones battery. Also if I do decide to keep this one how can I go about deleting the old one I know it's something pulling the apk from astro but where do I find it at I'm really new to all this sorry.
It foes not overwrite the stock music app so just uninstall.

[Q]How to change the sense version number in the about screen

Which apk, or lib, or whatever is this found in (Changed the sense version from 2.1.. to 3.0.. in rosie.apk and didnt fix the issue)? Its bugging the crap out of me as im working on my own pyramid/kingdom mashup rom for the desire hd/inspire 4g.
This is one of the items on my list of things I still need to address, and i'd rather not waste time on such a mundane thing as its apparently already been fixed in both the rcmix port and the new unity port.
I just need someone to steer me in the right direction.
As far as finding it in the code... i'll do that myself.
It is not found in a apk or lib file, but rather in an xml file. Let me search which.
Edit: After looking through xml files in the Sense 2.1 ROM I'm running I couldn't find it. I'll try again tomorrow once I got my Linux box on and I get some sleep.

Thanks mate, I havent found it in any of the xml's that are just lying about in the builds, I havent started using the kitchen yet myself (just setting it up now on ubuntu 11.04), so far its all been using apk manager, and just parsing code, and familiarizing myself with nitty gritty, parsing and editing code. I've already gotten a few gray hairs from frustration. lol
Have a look in strings.xml in Settings.apk
I don't have the phone or a ROM as a reference on me, but you should be able to work out how to set it by starting from strings.xml in Settings and working backwards, if you know what I mean.
If not, upload the file (Settings.apk) for me and I'll have a look for you.
will check it out, thnx

[Q] How do I edit the Android Market to show all applications?

I'm using a couple ICS+sense roms that are giving me some issues with the Market. A bunch of apps aren't showing up including some that I paid for. It prob has something to do w/ me going from GB to ICS 4.0.1 aka CleanRom 2.1. Anyways, before I flashed these roms I was able to see all these apps in the Market that I can't now. Can someone explain how I can trick the Market into showing every app whether they're compatible with GB/ICS or not? If I have to pull my Market.apk and edit it, let me know how to do that or if there is a Market.apk out there that I can install over the current one I already have. If there's a way for me to keep that most updated market(3.4.4) that'd be great.
Thx for the help! -bal

I know, it sucks. Essentially I think you have to edit your build.prop. It'll be a pain to get it to work. If you can find someone that knows how to correctly edit the build.prop, I think you can get those apps. The best thing to do would be to contact the app developers and ask when they'll make their apps compatible with ICS.
I've never used it but it sounds like maybe the "Market Enabler" app might work. It's at keast worth checking out

I swear I saw a market app that's currently in a Rezound rom here that shows all apps. I forget the rom though. With the build prob don't I just edit it to make it think my phone is on GB? Gotta be an easy way to do this.

1. Flash a 2.3 rom
2. Use root file explorer >>go to data/app folder and copy app to SD card
3.reinstall 4.0 rom and reinstall app
Editing build prop is more trouble and time than its worth.
Copy and reinstall is faster and the apps will still function...paid apps will require the install key probably...

Why do I need to flash a Rom, can't I just download a Rom, open the zip with 7zip and extract the market.apk from system/app? I thought the market apk was in system/app?
Oh and could you name a Rom I could download to get the apk I need. Also, what is the name of the market.apk? How do I remove the market from the ICS Rom and install the GB market over it so I don't have two markets installed and in my launcher?
One last thing, what do you mean paid apps will require a licencse?
Sent from my HTC Rezound using XDA Premium
Nope, not market.apk. You'll want to look in /data/app for the specific apps that are missing. /data/app is the location of all your apks downloaded from the market.
The reason we don't need to simply copy the market.apk is because your market app is working just fine. Google's servers filter based on device and rom according to the build.prop file. Because there's no official ICS rezound it doesn't know what to show you yet. Once it gets closer to release google will add the profile for ICS and everything will show properly.

Sure there is. Extract build.prop from a ROM, and swap it out just like you said. I don't know if it's going to net you the desired result, but why not give it a shot.

If you go the flashing back to GB method I recommend grabbing AppMonster to back up all your apps. I've been using the pro version and it's pretty cool. Now I have access to all the apps I've downloaded in the past but don't have to install them until I need/want to. It also automatically backs up apps as soon as you've downloaded them. Super easy to restore too.

DO NOT DO THIS! The reason that some of the apps are not showing up in the market is because they have not been updated to say that they work with 4.0.1. If you swap build.props you could seriously harm your device, I STRONGLY advise against it.
I just went to the market website on my computer and looked under my apps, then just installed all the ones I wanted to from there. It was a little hassle, but really only took around 10 min for about 30-40 apps I wanted.

in your opinion does it do any better/different than TB?
I've been looking into editing the build.prop file. I am hesitant to do so because all the other examples I've seen are from similar devices so very few lines are actually changing. I noticed the rezound has a crapload of lines, i'm not sure how many would be required to actually get an app showing.
Does anyone know what specific lines the Market app looks at to verify?
My problem is not that I'm trying to get an app on ICS but that I want Plants and Zombies. I understand it works on other GB's but not the rezound. Any more insight on the build.prop file would be awesome!

Well, updated to CleanRom ICS edition v2.3 and tried my build.prop and my Rez wouldn't even boot... Booo!!!! So back to the drawing bored I went. Happy to say I now have a build.prop that is up and running. Issue here is not that I can't download games from the market. That's easy. Issue is, once downloaded, they won't download additional data. **shakes fist at gameloft**
So here it is, as always: I'm not responsible for any damages done to your phone by use of this file, etc..... Remember to nandroid backup!!!!
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED TO WORK ON CLEANROM ICS 2.3
How to Use:
Open file browser of choice and go to /system/
Rename build.prop to something like build.prop.bak
Download the file and unrar it
Move the file to /system/
Rename to build.prop
Reboot
When you need to switch back, just rename the modded build.prop to something like build.prop.mod and rename build.prop.bak to build.prop and reboot.
What it does - Makes your phone appear as the Desire HD.

Android 4.0 messaging

Just thought I'd share with you guys if anyone wants the messaging app from stock 4.0 here it is:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.mms.com.android.mms
Note:
1. You need to disable the HTC messaging app or you get 2 notifications, you can simply rename it to mms.apk.bak in root explorer. Just take out bak to reinstall it if you want to go back
2. If you do disable HTC mms then sometimes picture messaging force closes the aosp mms app

These native ICS apps can be pushed to system/app as replacements to Sense 3.6 apps; set permissions to rw-r-r and install. Use at your own risk.

I Got the Stock Music App to Work on the AT&T Version

I finally got the stock LG Music app to install on the AT&T H910 last night!
Download one of the stock music APKs that are floating around. Then go to the Play Store and download APK Editor by SteelWorks.
Open APK Editor and tap Select an APK File. Navigate to your download folder and tap the music player APK and select Full Edit (Resource re-build). Once it opens, touch Manifest in the lower right corner. Then don't edit anything. Just hit Save in the upper right corner. The APK Editor then rebuilds and re-signs the APK. Clear out of the ad that serves up next and hit install at the bottom. It should install now that it's been signed.
Enjoy!
I tried this but was unable to get it to work with any of the .apk files in this page https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/themes/stock-music-app-t3488769 do you happen to have a link to the music apk you downloaded?
Try this one. I either used this one or one I extracted from another ROM
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B72...w?usp=drivesdk
If I have time tonight I can try to share the signed APK the app produced.
there was no app in the link, but i did take your advice and downloaded a rom and extracted that app from there. worked like a charm.... thank you!

So I tried like a dozen of stock LG music apps on my unrooted Sprint's V20 and noone of them eventually worked even after appying that APK Editor "trick"! No installation at all, install with FCs and installed no FCs but FCs on attemps to play any song ((
Seems to be the case for other stock LG apps floating around the forum like Calendar, Email, Gallery and so on. You gotta have root and change permissions to install these apps and make em work properly! Only old version of Calculator work ok and works in sideapps, just hope that XDA masterminds will come up with a nice custom rom cotaining all of the stock apps working no prob!
