It's rumor to be included in Honeycomb, but now that we know it is a tablet only version. In that case, it will probably be included in Ice Cream(?) ?

2.2.1 has that and its been released not to long ago.

Also the dow kernel overclocks the gpu also.

Hmmm i know 2.2.1 gives the browsers gpu acceleration but i was wondering if they could do it for the whole UI itself?

myTouch 4g Port

Has anyone ever worked on bringing this port to the Vibrant? I really love the Espresso rom, but haven't seen it for the Vibrant.
Please be kind enough to let me know if there is the Espresso port running out in the wild or at least why it hasn't been done? Is there a lack of demand for it or is it a very hard port to do?

It's the same concept as porting HTC sense. Yes it's hard. And technically, illegal to a degree.
Check out the vibrant dev section.... There is in fact a Sense port being developed at this time... In that thread there are youtube videos which the developer barakinflorida has posted showcasing the progress he has made... unfortunately, he seems to be working solo at this point in time but I have a feeling Eugene will jump in at any time... My feeling is Vibrant owners are closer than ever to having a full Sense port..

But when you say sense port are you talking about mytouch 4g or stock HTC Sense? Thanks to both of you for the quick response. I ask because it seems like the Nexus One its the only phone with that port. I tried it before on my N1 and it was almost good enough to be a daily driver.

Dude like I said all the answers you need are in that post, in addition I do not believe it is the mytouh4g sense port but the Desire rom version of sense, which I have heard is superior...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
pffftt...id almost trade my vibrant for a mytouch 4g at this point
Lol! Thank goodness for all the projects with potential going on....

No offense to you, but I clearly stated that I am looking for the myTouch 4g port not HTC Sense. Thanks anyways. I guess we do not have a Dev working on bringing Espresso Sense to our Vibrant.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Lol, and I clearly stated all the answers including what version of sense is being ported can be found in that thread. Also, this may be considered wishful thinking but perhaps once that sense port is fully working this may open the doors to other versions of sense being ported, however this is not an easy task hence the wishful thinking...

Ok, well hopefully we get a stable port. Until then I'll just stick with Nero.

Vibrant or nexus one??

Hey guys I'm looking to get your advice. I currently own a vibrant on T-Mobile and I'm thinking of getting a nexus one. I'm thinking about it primarily because I think I like the form factor is better than the vibrant. In terms of software there's no comparison, ill be using miui on either.
What do u guys think?? Worth the trade or should I stick with the vibrant??
I'm a long time Lurker and have not really posted too much so if I posted in the wtong section or posted on a topic again I apologize and would appreciate it if it's moved to the right section.
If anyone has both phones please share your experience.

I have both and I use my Vibrant as my daily phone almost exclusively. MIUI is pretty slow from my experience on my N1, so I just stuck with CM7.
N1 is pretty fast, but it's also a 1.5 years old (ancient in phone years). It's a great dev phone and it's nice developing apps on it, but the Vibrant is a better phone for the user. The screen is gorgeous, and at 4" I find it much easier to type on my Vibrant than the N1.

Awesome thanks for the reply, i think ill be choosing the vibrant over the nexus one......but now what about the nexus s, which would u prefer??
I've got the means to get it for cheap. so I'm also considering that over the vibrant.

Haven't heard anything on the Sense 3.0 UI for SGS2 this will be really amazing if someone can port it. It is really awesome UI.

Yep, a Sense UI 3.0 Port would be the most badass thing. Sense UI is probably the best Android UI around, and on the SGS2, it would run kickass.
Agree, would be really nice to see it for SGS2
This should be posted in the Q&A section not here.
Also, AFAIK there will never be a Sense rom for the SGS 2, as Sense is not open source. If you want sense you'll need to buy an HTC phone first.

+1 on that
If You did not create the ROM, KERNEL, FIX, MOD, APP, HACK, GUIDE, or if it's not a SOURCE CODE then it should go to Galaxy S II General as it doesn't belong in Development
If your thread can be phrased as a question, it DEFINITELY doesn't belong in Development either.

Not true...
They said it about the sgs 1 ...hey I've even seen honeycomb from the tablet on the sgs 1 ..
I have a feeling it will pop up on the forums one day ... I know the dev's...maybe when its complete on the sgs 1 they may think about it...
I'd say sense will come to the sgs 2 someday though

It's already difficult to have CM7 and MIUI running on SGS2 so porting the most difficult framework to be ported right now is a dream!
Regretfully only the Sense devs can do it but they still stick to Sensation, somebody have to turn them into the sammy side of the force
i tested it on a htc sensation it is nice to have but not nessasary or not?
I simply love the weather part of Sense 3.0 in the lockscreen, animations with sound and widget!
An app could do it but still didn't find one, Go Weather is using the same animations but without sound and the launching logo is crap, if only they could repair these...

It turned my slow Aria into a superphone. Incredible support, nightly updates, every feature you could want, very stable. It's how android should be.
I'm looking forward to some cm7 on atrix
Dorian is working on 2.3.5 rom noticed he commented on that in his rom thread
I also noticed the source code was released so hopefully the devs can get it "De-Blured". I would love to run Stock GB. I almost traded my Atrix for a Nexus S until I saw that, now I'm waiting (im)patiently.

Back when they still supported the G1, it kept my old hardware running newer os than some new android phones. Great features and nightly builds. Always up to date and best performance.
Got it on my nook color now haha. Can't wait for it on the atrix.

Source code was released for 2.3.4. CM7 team only works from a clean source code base. So just give our guys some time and its coming!

Back to the future

Does anyone know how to go back to 1.6 stock on our vibrants.
Vibrant stock out of the box was 2.1.
I think there is a thread in the general section that details how to use Odin to flash it back to stock.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
so there is no way to go back to the o.g. 1.6
Like HeavyA said, the stock for the vibrant was 2.1 (Eclair) not 1.6 (Donut)
You can certainly flash back to stock, but that will be the original 2.1.
The A10, the Zio, the Xperia X8 ran 1.6, but even in 2010 most phones were already updated to 2.1, or even 2.2 GB.
Why are you trying to flash donut to the vibrant? Let's be clear though, you can't flash donut to the vibrant (as far as I am aware of), it was never designed to run on the Vibrant. And no developers would be interested in porting an archaic rom...that's like buying a brand new iMac only to run System 0.8.5 (Mac's original OS). It just doesn't make sense.
...And again, like both Xenoism and HeavyA said, Android v2.1 (Eclair) was the out of the box stock for the Vibrant. So if there was something you liked about Android v1.6 (Doughnut), you'll have to find another device that came with it or bribe a developer... However if you want to revert back to Eclair, then that's no problem! Just follow this guide found here.
I wanna see 1.6 lol, i never seen it... any devs have too much time on your hands?

Short and simple vibrant never has 1.6 and never will. It's old we don't have a kernel for it and it would not make full use out of our devices
