There are quite a bit of differences. On GB 2.3, the UI changed a little and further optimized for performance along with better power management. New features I'm looking for is the integrated copy/paste functionality along with SIP/VoIP capability. I'm sure there are other new features.

Theres not much there besides slight aesthetic changes. The only other thing I remember about GB is that it uses less CPU to register presses on the touch screen, and that they did some changes to the SDK to make it better for game developers.

I have also heard its optimized for the procesor we use (Hummingbird) as opposed to just the Snapdragon.

New android
We should request google dev's to release a lighter version of android above Gingerbread which could run smoothly run on 600MHZ and 800MHZ phones,, I think that ICS is quiet heavy for our phones... Thousands of requests could do it..
It's about a marketing scheme, you make more money by advertising a new product to better devices, it isn't the other way around, if our phones were capable of getting ICS, would anyone really spend 400 dollars or more for sgs2 or galaxy nexus phones?

Social stream API in Contacts provider: Applications that use social stream data such as status updates and check-ins can now sync that data with each of the user’s contacts, providing items in a stream along with photos for each. This new API lets apps show users what the people they know are doing or saying, in addition to their photos and contact information.
Calendar provider enhancements. Apps can now add color to events, for easier tracking, and new attendee types and states are now available.
New camera capabilities. Apps can now check and manage video stabilization and use QVGA resolution profiles where needed.
Accessibility refinements. Improved content access for screen readers and new status and error reporting for text-to-speech engines.
Incremental improvements in graphics, database, spell-checking, Bluetooth, and more.

No, the problem is as follows: google want to support only newer hardware,
up to Nexus S - we can see this in the new android software architecture,
the only thing developers can do: remove all that OpenGL ES 2.0 **** or make
it compatible with the old OpenGL ES 1.x ... and that takes a lot of time, even
for good developers.

Huh? The g1 has an ics port. It runs.... um.. it runs.
So you can get ics by getting an older phone. It just doesnt work well.
Optimus can get ICS... The fact that it was able to boot, load GSM, WiFi and stuff means it can run ICS... There are sooo many phones with Adreno200 GPU's and lower spec Android phones, Google just cant ignore em'... even if Google doesnt do anything, the guys at XDA will surely do something...
So wait for some time.. ICS just released last month... theres a long way to go...
some one, someday, might just turn up with an ICS ROM...

Works great on CM10 by jellaxy!
No placebo! Seriously way faster!
Thanks!
Yep it's good! But don't know what's the difference between that and the debug.composition.type=gpu line on build.prop. Anyone?

Oh, yeah, that one. I'd like to know that myself.
Just tried this tweak but since I don't game I cant really see any improvements there. I did however notice some stutterness in the app drawer (the typical "smoothness test", flipping pages). Placebo lag? Idk.

Seems to work ok now, maybe it was some startup lagg. But I havent seen much improvement in the scrolling speed at least. I will probably notice some difference after using it for a week.
Will it also work on gb roms (stock) ?
Has anyone tried on gb ?:beer:
Isn't this the same effect as these two props for build.prop?
debug.egl.hw=1 (which is default anyway, see libEGL.so)
debug.composition.type=gpu
On my stock Galaxy ACE I can't remove the software line 0 0 android -> no boot.
Cheers
Although the performance change isn't ground-breaking, I can feel the transition effects smoother, such as swiping screens. My Ace which scored 1890 before on AnTuTu benchmark has exceeded 2000 after the tweak :good:
Not working for me on DDKQ8 stock.rom.

Ok clean fast and smooth jellybean good idea
I have an important question:
how can choose between performance of roms ?
benchmarks ?
here is my experience
on your sperience rom antutu gave me 3200+ score while 3d was about 960 and etc...
on hyperbeam cream it gaves me 3400+
that mean ICS is better even 3d on ics was 1100
but the performance of gaming was worst !!!!
so how can we expect a bout jelly bean ?
is it better than ICS (on this way)or such kind of the same ?
actually everyone needs performance beside of visual not reverse
can you explain.
thank you

Your theorie is bad.jelly bean has parts that make it 40 - 60 % faster then ics.there is a high possibility that jelly bean, and the sonys jelly bean, will be significatly faster then ics.
EDIT:i had 4400 on antutu without any tweaks,only oc to 1.6 ghz.STOCK ICS 587

Like shadik already said jb is now even smoother and faster than ics but its not fully stable yet, about gaming, its the panic kernel that gives you a great benchmark score, and gaming forme was smooth but sometimes it lags for a little time,gb was designed for our devices it gives us the best performance till now,but i think jb could be better if it gets stable

and for example when I scroll on menu in GB it is smoother than ICS.
I know that the frame of ICS is better but it is a bit lags and I think it is because of processor.

[TWEAK][APK] Seeder entropy generator to provide significant lag reduction

Original Post | CWM
Guys check this out
Best result on Android 4.+
Description
Hey everyone,
So, I was experiencing significant lag as we all do from time to time, and decided I was going to get to the bottom of it.
After tracing and debugging for hours, I discovered the source of 90% of Android's lag. In a word, entropy (or lack thereof).
Google's JVM, like Sun's, reads from /dev/random. For all random data. Yes, the /dev/random that uses a very limited entropy pool.
Random data is used for all kinds of stuff.. UUID generation, session keys, SSL.. when we run out of entropy, the process blocks. That manifests itself as lag. The process cannot continue until the kernel generates more high quality random data.
So, I cross-compiled rngd, and used it to feed /dev/urandom into /dev/random at 1 second intervals.
Result? I have never used an Android device this fast.
It is literally five times faster in many cases. Chrome, maps, and other heavy applications load in about 1/2 a second, and map tiles populate as fast as I can scroll. Task switching is instantaneous. You know how sometimes when you hit the home button, it takes 5-10 seconds for the home screen to repopulate? Yeah. Blocking on read of /dev/random. Problem solved. But don't take my word for it .. give it a shot!
Update!
I've built a very simple Android app that bundles the binary, and starts/stops the service (on boot if selected). I'll be adding more instrumentation, but for now, give it a shot! This APK does not modify /system in any way, so should be perfectly safe.
This is my first userspace Android app, so bear with me!
Note that this APK is actually compatible with all Android versions, and all (armel) devices. It's not at all specific to the Captivate Glide.

Well yeah lol, but this isn't just another build.prop entry but a full-blown hack. As the OP states, it technically lowers security and other randomized accuracy in favor of performance.
I'll integrate this into Turbo kernel so it runs in every slot.
P.S. Try setting zRAM to maximum with this on Better multitasking.

[APP] Seeder - reduce lag and make wildfire fast

seeder is an apps that is focused on reducing the lag that sometimes occur while opening apps and switching to home screen.
I tried this on my phone and it does have an effect. I tried this on CM6. it is said this apps works better in pre-ICS devices.
here is a review of the apps by Lifehacker,

you can find more info at the original thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032
all credit goes to lambgx02, I'm just sharing this.

This app was good until v 2.0,it started eating battery up a lot. Then I found crossbreader, which for me is a touch better.

I'm using the light profile, which as the dev says cause minimum battery drain. and I still haven't experience any considerable impact on battery life. I guess it's fair enough to sacrifice some juice to get more performance. I think you'll agree.
also strangely enough, I get better performance from the light profile than the aggressive ones.
thanks for the info on crossbreeder, would keep an eye on it.
Agreed, i also have it integrated in my aokp rom.Just a few terminal commands activate seeder.

yes, I have used your ROM, actually it was the only ICS rom that I've used for more than a week.
but when I found CM6, I just couldn't leave it because of it's speed.
anyway, thank you again for that wonderful rom.

seeder is an apps that is focused on reducing the lag that sometimes occur while opening apps and switching to home screen.
I tried this on my phone and it does have an effect. I tried this on CM6. it is said this apps works better in pre-ICS devices.
here is a review of the apps by Lifehacker,

thanks. this works well. i'd prefer an apk over a flashable zip.
i think cross breeder is a flashable zip

yep, an app offers customization whereas a flashable zip is something like plug-and-play.
but if there is no need for any customization, I think a zip would just do the Job fine.
but it's always great to have freedom for customization. which is why I love Android

Just installed the app. Which profile is recommendable and what does it mean to extend the I/O queue?

It depends, I guess on which rom you use, and other stuff, but if you want better performance over battery life then aggressive profile will do, but if you are more into saving juice then light profile will be useful.
Just play around with the phone with different profiles and see which one is best for you.
IO Queue, My guess; the events that must be handled by the processer are queued before they are actually processed, IO schedulers decide the order which they are sent into the processor. So I guess by extending the IO queue it makes Sheduler decisions more better.
This is as to my own knowledge.
Correct me if I'm wrong '
P.S. - I'm currently not using Extend IO queue option.

Tried the Extend IO queue option for a while and it significantly slows down the device.

I guess it's better to leave that option off. Thanks for the feedback

I also tested the different profiles and whilst moderate and aggressive caused several errors such as the clock.apk randomly opening, the light profile gives the smoothest experience and does not cause any other issues.

Can you use it together with Seeder or does it make Seeder obsolete?

Nope, you can't use it along with Seeder. Crossbreeder is designed to stop other similar apps like Seeder. So it's seeder or Crossbreeder.
I personally think Crossbreeder is a little better than Seeder.

You are right. CrossBreeder gives an enormous boost. Significantly more than Seeder.
Awesome how much you can improve CM9 on the old Wildfire with that mod.
