Sorry if this is a dumb Question but I have not been able to find a true answer.
What is the advantage of updating My Radio Rom from 1.20 to either 1.27 or 1.35 or should I leave well enough alone.
Its up to you, the 1.35.00.11 version of the radio has the GPS chip enabled, but as you will see in the GPS thread the GPS chip works but has no antenna. The radio should be more stable, and i noticed an increase in the range of my 3G area with it. Make sure to use the version available here (at the top) because they push "des SSPL" to the phone so you dont need to worry about which bootloader or CID you have (not that it matters about CID with radio upgrades...but you know what i mean )
Thanks, i'll probably upgrade to 1.35 using the link you provided
Just upgraded, very straightforward.
One slight issue. After upgrade and soft reset I could not make a data connection.
I made a voice call just to check that was working . . .
then all was OK.
Don't know if the voice call sorted it or what
just make sure you have GPS off or your battery will be in for a ride

Hi,

Thanks for the help

Don't worry, GPS isn't enabled unless you install the VRSerial driver (which aint easy....). Even then, it's only turned on when an application specifically opens the GPS comm port.

Hi Sleuth255,
thanks for the help on this issue. I do not indent to install VRSerial. I do have an external GPS mouse which is fine for me.

I recently upgraded and it was a major improvement for me. Far fewer dropped calls, better reception, etc.
I have noticed a noticeable decrease in in-call volume...is this an issue with this rom? At max volume, I have trouble hearing in a noisey environment...never had this problem before.
RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe wants to connect to the internet?
I upgraded my radio rom yesterday and kept the installation file, RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe, on my laptop. I downloaded the file with the link supplied in the wiki page.
Now today I get a warning from my f-secure saying that the exe file “RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe” wants to connect to the internet. I clicked deny and it kept trying to connect four more times then it stopped. I scanned the file for viruses and Trojans but F-Secure didn’t find any.
Anyone else had the same problem or perhaps knows whats going on?

its probably thinking that access to the ActiveSync device (which as far as i am aware is via tcp over usb) i wouldnt worry about it. disconnect from the internet if you are.

Issue resolved!
If the phone won't start, after flashing radio 1.35, simply reflash the SO.

Did you upgrade from 1.34.00.10 or a lower version radio ?
Would like to know if there is any "real" advantage to upgrade from 1.34.00.10 to 1.35.00.11 ?
I am experiencing some missed calls due to the always GPRS / 3G connection I am running for emoze push mail.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows what we'd need to do or what would need to be ported to get Internet Calling (SIP) on our phones. While the Gingerbread ROMs should support it, I'm not seeing the required settings menus...
A quick Google search reveals that we may need to port the dialer from AOSP? Just looking for thoughts or confirmation from someone in the know.
One thing I can tell you for sure, CM7 will have it.

I just want to point out that for AT&T handsets, this will likely never be capable.
Sadly, we lack the ability (UMA) to do this, it's a synchronious provider/handset/hardware/software effort. We lack handset hardware.
T-Mobile, on the other hand, you may have had a chance, with, not 100% anymore. But here is the information on AT&T: HERE
Anyways, with the Atrix it's impossible, sorry.
However, you can still make full use out of Google Voice, this functionality isn't harmed.
SIP is broken (seems like audio routing issue) on the motorola stack, problem affects even custom ROMs based off motorola kernel.
I've tried every single SIP application under the sun, all have audio issues, it looks like the way Motorola routes audio (to speaker or headphones or whatever) is a bit non-standard as they all exhibit different kinds of audio bugs (as opposed to SIP protocol connectivity issues).
Wait for CM7 or an AOSP based ROM i think.
Skype does work fine for me thou.
On the infected forum he states that it works with Joelz new Rom but WiFi Bluetooth and data are borked for me. Im pretty sure people were talking how most things were working besides camera. I flashed the kernel over the BAMF Rom so I don't know if this was the compatibile one.
I don't think any sense 4.0 rom has wifi working.
Unfortunately currently no sense 4.0 rom having wifi, data and camera working..

Apart from every single GSM Sense 4.0 ROM (bar the camera).
Hi,
Is there a place were I can see all the Roms? and which to install?
I've just installed CyanogenMod9 in my SG2, but now I miss the FM radio or some Touchwiz things.
When I had my stock **LPJ i wasn't able to change a thing, such as annoying boot animation or change from 3g to 2g
So, now I'm not sure where to go, I really used to use the radio
btw, are there official samsung roms? without operators (ATT, Vodafone, orange, etc)
for fm radio use spirit fm

So I now have CM10 on my S-Off, Unlocked, rooted, superCID, SIM unlocked amaze.
I'm wondering how to do just a few things... How do I get my FM radio back? (An offline stereo, not an online radio app.) It was always an option prior to CM10 is why I ask.
Also, how do we turn off haptic vibration?! I absolutely loathe the vibration whey I press each key on the keyboard... It appears as though the option to disable vibration completely is now unavailable. :/
Solving these issues will hold me over until progress can happen on the possible WiFi calling fix I've read about.
To all the devs that made this possible on the Amaze, thank you. Really. Thank you.

FM radio - it was a sense specific app... don't think it's ported over to CM10 yet... (problem is that each manufacturer has it's own FM radio lib, no easy way in android to "generic"-alize it
you could try the Spirit FM radio app in the Android store to see if it works...
So I figured out how to disable the haptic feedback. It's buried in the advanced settings of language and input.
I'm bummed about the loss of the FM radio. It would really be nice to have it back. I get poor cell service at work, but radio plays fine. I really miss that feature.
Come on Wifi Calling for CM10!!
