Can someone please upload a stock kernel zip update file ..I dont want to reflash my phone using kdz just because i tried out some OCed kernels ..Can one of you devs do this if it can be done ...
I'm sure one of the bright minds here can help you with that. but... why do you wnat it? are having trouble with the modified kernel for OC?
2.2 or 2.2.1?
I don't have the time but I can leave the instructions to someone which has:
1- Grab 2.2 or 2.2.1 boot.img (look in Prime ROM for 2.2.1 and Light ROM for 2.2)
2- Unpack boot.img (use dsixda's kitchen for example)
3- Extract the zImage (the file in the first folder with >2MB, it has another name but I don't recall)
4- Get the Amon_RA recovery port for P500, extract contents to some folder
5- Replace the zImage for the one you extracted in the unpacked boot.img (you have to rename it)
6- Zip it again (with no compression)
7- Sign the zip

Friends I found simple way to get back to official froyo from steves 1.4.6
just u will need a official froyo packge.
if u have astro file manager place the package in th root of your sd card.
from astro rename the package as
first irase the file extention .pkg
then enter nee extention .zip.
after that you will find the update.pkg is just a zipped file.
then simply flash clockwork recovry.
then go to install zip from sd.
then select the update.zip(previously update.pkg) then this will install all kernel, boot image.....
after that reboot your phone.
then you will find that you are now all official froyo.
this will help you to get back on stock froyo.
sorry for sms language that I have used in my post.
i have sent it using dell streak browser.
If you want the recovery(boot.img) original.
Then u can simply extract from the package by doing the same told above.
If u find this helpful please rate thos post.
Thanking you.
If you want the performance of dj steves rom u will need not to flash custom kernel
Simply copy paste the files from smokkus froyo fixx and replace to files of streaks internal storage.
I done this and got 1500-1575 on quadrant.
Anybody here can confirmed and have tried this method and work

It takes like one button to flash a recovery..
Why would I want stock or official Froyo when Steve's build gets me quadrant scores of 1900?
the gps crashes all the way.some video formats are not playing well.

I don't know how you did this but the original .pkg files from DELL are ENCRYPTED!!! You can't just rename it to ZIP and flash it!
no friend i just diid it.
what means."from astro rename the package as
first irase the file extention .pkg
then enter nee extention .zip."
I thought astro only gave read only permissions? Also i cant grasp how its possible to install an offical dell package via clockwork? I thought it needed the stock image to load? I also thought clockwork was only useable with custom roms? Confused? ?? If it it does work simply changing the extension then that could be really useful to know

Hey lufc - so you were on steves 1.4.6 then flashed 309 and updated via 318 pkg and that was it? Just confirming as i may do this from 1.5.0 (should be same concept)
Hey frend I did it
wow it worked
this thread is open to help newbies to install the 2.1 custom rom with the simples way..
you also can discuss any problem here..
dont mess the dev thread with a dumb question...
thanks to "Perceval from Hyrule" for the original tutorial..
this is revise version for 2.1
INSTALLATION FOR 2.1 AOSP
Before attempting anything, make sure you have AT LEAST 50% of battery charge. Don't try anything with low battery, you can abort the flashing and brick your device !!!
Please make sure you're also running a 2.1 rom (Generic, nordic, official, custom...)
1st step:
make sure your computer is adb debugging ready..
in case in need for command execution..
- Download Android SDK
You don't need to save the entire archive (but you can), you just need the Tools folder (because it contains ADB, the Android Debug Bridge we need to install files).
2nd step:
- On x10 :
Enable USB debugging (Setting > Applications > Development).
Root your device. easiest way by using z4root.
Download and install Busybox (from Market), make sure it says "Done!".
3rd step:
install xrecovery for recovery menu.
xrecovery a.k.a recovery menu
4th step:
option 1:
Download rom.
2.1 AOSP ROM (make sure 2.1 since this tutorial is for 2.1)
extract the rom (u will get 2 folder + 1 files)
upload the file into your sd card root(sdcard/*.zip)
rename the *.ZIP to Update.ZIP
*the 2 folder contain application which u can install if u like
option 2:
Download rom.
2.1 AOSP ROM (make sure 2.1 since this tutorial is for 2.1)
extract the rom (u will get 2 folder + 1 files)
upload the file into your sd card root(sdcard/*.zip) or in any folder u like
*the 2 folder contain application which u can install if u like
5th step:
boot into recovery menu (by restart and hit few times back button when "SONY ERICSSON" word appear)
backup your original rom(in case u want to restore next time)
hit full wipe
option 1:
hit install update.zip from SD card
option 2:
hit install custom zip
search for the custom zip in folder where u save it
hit the zip file
after reboot, u will get custom rom installed in your X10
good luck ;-)
TIPS
1-u can do like rendeiro2005 said by creating rom folder and put the rom collection in it..
so if u want to change or try other rom just choose zip file from the particular folder...
this require using step from option 2
2-another one, by creating folder which contain backup image..
u can collect your friends backup image and put in one folder..
if u want to try, just restore the particular image file using backup/restore option in recovery menu and choose the backup image file..
collection of custom rom backup file for recovery menu:

p/s: anyone who want to contribute their customize custom rom using backup image and list here can either pm me or response in this thread..
for use with recovery menu only..
Hi bro,
Only two calls on your excellent tutorial:
1. No need to put the rom in the root of the sdcard. I, for example, to distinguish the roms, I`ve created a folder "Rom" in the root and put the roms in there.
2. It is not necessary to rename the *. zip file.
When we entered the xRecovery, you can go to "install Custom Zip> zip Choose Custom from sdcard>" Now in my case I a. .. "Roms >........" and I intend to choose

it`s not a different way.
i think that way would be more simple (for me at least) `couse you can have different roms puted on the same directory without, everytime that you want to install one change his name to default.zip
but...great TUT (clap your hands floks)
Since i haved installed the 2.1 AOSP, my recovery were deleted !
So i install the xrecovery.apk but it doesnt work (don't fin the SD Card), so i paste the 3 files with root explorer but nothing to do... the recovery doesn't work at all =(

Install all 3?! Yes you can...if you want you can install WM and iOS
Now mre seriously.
If you want to install 2.1 you have to format sdcard to one partition only. 2.1 doesn't work with more than 1.
Then you can flash...follow this guide to do so

Just flash cm7 again (without wiping anything).
After that you will have the original kernel again.

but that would reset all all my settings.
isnt there a way to extract the kernel?
No, if you flash a new version (or the same version) of cm you won't loose all your settings. Important is that you only wipe dalivik cache and cache, nothing else.
Than the only thing you loose are changes you have done to "system"-folder. But less people do this.
The normal configurations like wlan, ... are not touched / lost.
If you are scared to loose your rom data, create a backup (clockwork recovery) before.
Only extracting is not easily possible.
If you got the kernel "zImage" file and the "wireless.ko" module, you have to create the signed zip file before you can flash it.
source cyanogenmod
Code:
Option 1: Koush's AnyKernel zip file Koush's AnyKernel repacks the kernel in the package with the ramdisk currently flashed to the device. Therefore, we need to change the boot.img --base address so the boot.img will boot on the 32A device. This change needs to be made in mkbootimg.sh in the package. Koush has a 32A branch of AnyKernel here: http://github.com/koush/AnyKernel Clone the AnyKernel repo
git clone git://github.com/koush/AnyKernel.git -b 32A
This will make a folder called AnyKernel in your working directory. Keep this and just copy it to your packaging directory.
Copy the AnyKernel folder to a working directory. In the AnyKernel folder you have three folders:
kernel
Put the zImage in this folder. Leave it named zImage
META-INF
system
Put the wlan.ko in system/lib/modules. Replace the placeholder wlan.ko file.
Now you can zip the 3 folders together and sign them
zip -r port.zip *
java -classpath <path to SDK/tools>testsign.jar testsign port.zip signed-port.zip
for example:
java -jar ../SignApp/signapk.jar ../SignApp/testkey.x509.pem ../SignApp/testkey.pk8 port.zip update_signed.zip
This creates a signed zip file called port.zip and can be flashed. :) You are done.

p.s would you recommend Roq's kernel or the default cm7 one?
(i won't be gaming on my phone. just want performance and battery life)
I haven't tried roqs latest kernel.
Just try it. Only you will know what you are searching for.
All custom kernels are good. But not every kernel is good for everyone.
Edit: What kind of performance are you searching for?
ok then,

Haven't seen that you have updated your kernel to latest sources.
> you can use kitchen to extract zimage.. and copy modules from system>lib>modules folder.. I dont know how to repack it as a zip? may be by the link given above for stock kernel with outdated source.. just replace zimage and modules content on the zip.
I get the zImage using a flashable ZIP that I made.
http://db.tt/0WKE2o8w
What I did was simply modify a kernel installer (by Koush) to make it extract the boot.img of the ROM currently installed to the SD card.
After flashing it, I copy and rename the zImage in /sdcard, copy the modules in /system/lib/modules and make the flashable ZIP as any other kernel.

***** I posted this just in case if anyone out there facing same problem as mine, "NitroCharger.sh not found" *******
Hello Everyone! I've tried to do very first install CM 7 with Neutrino ROM (I was using Blur Custom Rom before), and I did it with Neutrino ROM V2.9GT
the problem is:
I am confused about executing NitroCharger.sh because I don't even find it in /system/etc (on Neutrino 2.9 GT)
I thaugth I have a bad download files, so I tried to download again, but it brings no differences.
so I tried to find it in the older version (Neutrino 2.8 GT) and I tried to find Nitrocharger in the downloaded zip file (yeah, I find it in /system/etc/)
then, I extract only NitroCharger.sh files from Neutrino 2.8 GT then I put it on Neutrino 2.9 GT /system/etc folder (of course I extract the Neutrino 2.9GT.zip before putting NitroCharger.sh in /system/etc folders)
and finally I can feel the amazing experience provided with this ROM!
Here's the step by step :
1. download Neutrino 2.8 ROM (it doesn't matter EE,GT or GT+ because all we need is the NitroCharger.sh files inside it)
2. extract ONLY NitroCharger.sh that we can found in /system/etc to a new folder (it's up to you what you like to named it, but make it easy ex: NeutrinoNew)
3, extract all files from Neutrino 2.9 ROM you've downloaded to the same folder where's NitroCharger.sh that you've extracted on the step #2
4. after that, copy the NitroCharger.sh files to the /system/etc
5. ZIP that Folder! and ready to flash
6. After Flashing using clean or easy install and 1st boot completed, click SuperSU >>> update SuperSU binary
7. open Smanager then go to /system/etc
choose NitroCharger.sh then check the SU boxes
choose RUN
8. done! time to reboot
I don't know how if you'd install 2.8 first then update it to 2.9, maybe NitroCharger.sh files still in /system/etc folder.
just sharing my way
ps : Sorry, my english ain't really good

NitroCharger.sh is only available as an OTA upgrade to 2.91. However, many people decide they don't want to use it anyway since it's been known to cause stability issues.

Hi you! Sorry for this stupid question but what is the function of Nitrocharger.sh???
this is the first i up Neutrino rom and like you i didn't find the nitrocharger.sh at System/etc!!! ~~!
Good evening,
I've written a module for my smartphone and I need to compose a rom to install on my device...
I followed some tutorials, so now I know how to build an android kernel, obtaining a zImage.
Now, a friend told me that I must make a backup with clockworkmod (done!) and download on my pc, than I can recover the boot.img from there and split them in ramdisk and kernel.
Now I can compile my new kernel and merge it (the obtained zImage?) with the ramdisk to have a new rom to flash on my device... is true?
But I don't know how I can split the boot.img (maybe with dsixda kitchen?) and how to create the new rom. I tryied som weeks ago with a .zip rom and the dsixda kitchen and I split and recomposed a rom, but files contained in the .zip files was different from files that I downloaded by my device...
Someone can explain me the correct way to do this process? Thank you!
