I recently received my t8697 mozart purchased online, and happily tore my rogers sim from my blackberry and put it in. Configured everything, it all looked ok, it detects the 3g network, but for some reason if the connection meter in the corner says "3G", it cannot connect to the network, any data related activities stop, error messages pop up etc.
However, it occasionally ramps up to an "H" and everything flies! it seems to be if i'm using something like the web browser (where i'm assuming it has a couple of retry attempts), it automatically pushes it up to HSDPA after a minute or so, and as long as i continue to use data it will stay that way. if i stop, it falls back down to 3g, and i can't do anything. if i'm in the market place or an app where it may not retry, once it detects no data it just errors out and it never gets to HSDPA.
i've tried doing a hardware reset, configuring via the HTC connection setup app, but same issue. Any ideas? is this a hardware issue because it's switching between 850 and 2100 (not supported)? is it something i can call rogers about, or something i can configure on the phone?
i see my 7 Mozart switch to 3G when i'm in an area that doesn't have HSPA access, but i never have trouble connecting to the at&t network. mine has worked flawlessly from day on on the 850 mhZ band. don't know that this helps you. might be time to try another SIM card as well... good luck!
i picked up a new SIM from rogers today and same issues, is there a way to force 850mhz only? maybe it's just a radio issue, i'm wondering if one of the other roms with a newer radio revision might help, or if it's actually a hardware thing. it's pretty frustrating, my EDGE speeds are actually faster, at least it loads consistently.
download the htc connection wizard from marketplace and run the rogers setup, it sounds like your APN is not set. I had the same problem when I first got mine.

that definitely helped, when i did a hard reset, before i could download anything i had to disable 3g, download it on EDGE, and then run it before i could do anything :S. it's a lot better, still a bit off and i get random no data coverage, but i think maybe i'm just in a low 850 signal area. the bars seem to drop significantly as soon as i pick it up.
The telstra model in general seems to be really flaky, flickering images, random reboots and crashes. do all of the roms support all frequencies? ie. installing an asia/europe rom where it's all 900/2100 then disable my 850mhz access because the radio's not configured to support it?

This has started to happen recently. I am with AT&T Wireless in Brooklyn, NY. The phone used to carry the signal around almost the whole day and never lose it, but these days if I leave it alone for a while and come back it may say "no service" or "searching..." . If I do a soft reset it may find the signal, or if I turn wireless off and then on (which doesn't always respond, by the way -- on my phone it's called "Turn on Flight Mode". Is that what it's supposed to be called?)
I got this phone two months ago and I am extremely thrilled with it. It's a phone, pocket pc and (video!) camera in one. Sometimes it can achieve great clarity on conversations.
I wish someone can help me out though with some advice or information on upgrading the phone. I have the following questions:
1) What GSM frequencies does this phone use? Can I make it work with AT&T's 850 band? Is anyone familiar with making this phone work better with AT&T wireless?
2) What are some of the icons I see on the top, such as the G in a square? On my old phone that used to mean GPRS connection (i.e. internet/wap). I don't know how to control these things. To turn wireless off, I click a link that says "Turn on flight mode."
3) Finally, what can I do to stop losing the signal?? I tried putting manual selection of the AT&T Wireless network on, and it didn't improve things -- the phone still lost the connection. Once it had the connection thoguh, it didn't drop it -- I don't know why the connection gets lost.
Thanks a bunch for any advice and info,
Greg
Egreg,
I have similar problems. My provider uses GSM 1900 & 850.
1) It uses GSM 900/1800/1900. Unfortunately doesn't have an 850 radio; which is really bad, they should have made it a Quad Band for the price we pay for it. GSM 1900 is really terrible in buildings etc.
2) G Means the radio has negotiated GPRS availability.
3) I've gotten better results with signal locking on by following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7619&highlight=signal
Download the application and set it to "Search GPRS on start GPRS connection". That way it doesn't have to negotiate for GPRS unless you actually want to use it (helps to establish signal lock much better as there is less protocol overhead).
Also now, I'm using Radio Version 1.06 & 1.08 as they seem to reconnect much better than 1.14.
Hope this helps.. Mine is performing much better now, not perfect, but not as annoying.
Thanks. I'll download the GPRS tweak program. Will that alone help the situation a bit? All I need is the voice capability, I won't use GPRS, only the GSM voice -- for internet browsing I may get a WiFi SDIO card from SanDisk.
I thought that changing to some other Radio software would help, but I heard on this site that changing the OS is risky. Can you tell me what I could do to get some a better connection, perhaps guide me through installing a correct version of Radio?
I haven't had this phone for very long, so I'm unsure if I should attempt to upgrade/downgrade.
-Greg
Greg,
I think the tweak program will help things a bit.. As I mentioned I am able to get signal seemingly quicker when I have it set...
I was pretty paranoid about OS upgrades, but I've gone through about 4 versions so far. This week is the first time I ventured out to use a different radio version than what comes with the upgrade.
Try the tweak and see how things go for a while, and then make your decision to upgrade your ROM...
I've just got a T-mobile Ameo, unlocked it, upgraded radio to 1.50 and added the AP Dual ROM.
Not sure if I need to change any settings anywhere but I can't for the life of me get anything other than a "G" showing up and very slow connection speeds to match.
I've definitly got it in my area so my next step was to try a different radio. Does anyone have any recommendations which one works on O2/UK or things to try before changing radio?
Many thanks

do a download speed test as i found on t-mobile the icon does not change to "H" with the t-mobile official roms it just shows 3G
Tried all the speed tests. Can't remember the exact results but at the time I was comparing it to the same sim card in my Orbit which is GPRS only and the speeds were about the same.
I'm not even seeing a 3G though, just the G
Ever thought that maybe that area doesn't have HSDPA coverage yet?

Stupid question I'm sure, but ur SIM is 3G enabled isn't it? When I upgraded an old vodafone account to support 3G, they had to send me a new SIM that was enabled for the service.
And my bosses British Telecom SIM card in my Ameo only showed GPRS until they enabled 3G on the account/sim, at which point it then started showing 3G.

my o2 sim's are not 3g sims
Think you could well have it there mate.
I've just tried 1.45 and 1.47 radio's with the same results (just the G showing)
Will geton to O2 tommorrow
O2 are useless when it comes to data, last I checked they did not yet have HSDPA, and had a different pricing structure for data over GPRS and 3G, over GPRS you could buy a data bundle, but over 3G the best you could do was add a £5 add on that gave 4MB, after that it was a £3 per MB charge! imagine paying £2400 to download a Divx movie, you could go and buy the movie in Hi-def plus a Hi-def player plus a Hi-def TV to watch it on for that sort of money!
anyway bringing my post on topic
1) It is true you need a 3G sim (uSim) aswell as a 3G phone
2) It is possible that your area has 3G coverage but not HSDPA
3) Check the cost of "3G data" on your package before you go wild

Not my experience. I have HSDPA on O2 without a problem on my 7500 and laptop (using the O2 USB modem), so long as there is a 3g signal it usually gets an HSDPA download. The 3g symbol will change to an H.
I am using the standard HTC WM6 ROM with Radio 1.5
I have the O2 Web Max tarrif, so I have unlimited data.
I used to disable 3g on my Exec by going into the Phone Settings and setting the Band settings to GSM only instead of Auto (WM6 on the Exec was very poor at swtiching between the 2) - have you looked at that ?
Clearly if you don't have a 3g SIM that will be a problem too.

as a business customer maybe, but try adding web max to a voice tariff so you can have 1 sim does all (like T-mobile do) I think you will find that O2 don't support it !
I pay £37.50 PM for 900 Xnet Anytime mins and unlimited HSDPA data ! what are you getting ?
Well, the first person I spoke to at O2 they told me it has nothing to do with the sim card, he said it was because the HTC advantage is not surpported on the O2 network.
I politely asked to speak to someone who has an ounce of common sense. To which he said he was a manger and he knew more than most
I re-called and the next person I spoke to agreed its probably the sim and I'll need to go into a store and get a new sim card.
Off I popped to the nearest store, but the poor bloke serving had never even heard of HSDPA, let alone what it was.
I asked him if I could possibly try one of their sims in my phone to see if I can get HSDPA and he agreed to let me try his. Before he opened his phone I noticed an H on his screen so I told him what the H stood for.
Anyway sure enough it worked but when he tried registering a new sim to my number their computer system said no
He gave a me number to call to get a new sim sent to me but as expected it took me another two attepts until I found someone who had the slightest idea what I was talking about.
Finally £14.99 and 5 hours later the new sim should be in the post.

you should have said 3.5G it's laymans term for hsdpa and oiks in phone shops understand it.
New sim arrived today and I'm up and running on 3G/HSDPA
The only odd thing is it seems to be constantly be switching between 3G and H.
90% of the time it says 3G then if you hit a link when browsing it'll switch to H. As the new page is loading though it'll swich from 3G to H two or 3 times.
Does this sound normal to you?
Glad it turned out to be something fairly simple (once you actually found someone with an ounce of sense). Mine flicks between 3G and HSDPA fairly regularly - it tends to say HSDPA until a data connection is established, at which point it drops back to 3G

It shouldn't say 'H' until you're connecting or downloading. As soon as you start receiving data it will switch to 'H', although sometimes my 3G would mysteriously switch off entirely in my office (on my Hermes AND Ameo) and I'd be stuck with GPRS until I restarted or waited for about 15 minutes. Strange.
I just switched from Tmobile to Vodafone and before, the mobile network was always H and now on Vodafone, it goes between 3G and H. Does anyone else who has Vodafone experiencing this? It seems weird that it would be switching between the two. Maybe Tmobile just had better HSPA coverage....?
I'm on vodafone NL too. Indeed it switches between the H and the 3G. I noticed though that it only switches to H if you are actually using the connection, otherwise it just stays on 3G. Try updating the weather for instance, you'll see it switching.
That's what I noticed as well, I just thought it was strange. Good to know though.
What do you think of their coverage? I just switched, so maybe that might have something to do with it, but last night I couldn't get any service in my bedroom but with Tmobile, I had a full signal...
I live in noord-holland, and coverage is pretty good. Wherever I am I get at least 3G. Vodafone hasnt been very reliable though. There were two crashes on their network a few weeks ago that crippled the data network but they fixed those errors within a couple of hours, so nothing to really worry about. No problems since.
Same here in the UK with T-Mobile.
When I first had the phone I'd almost never see 3G, just H or G. Now, I regularly get 3G but as soon as I start to use the data connection it usually switches to H.
I thought at first it was a result of me upgrading the radio, but I'm not so certain now. However, data speeds seem good so I'm not concerned.
Regards,
Dave
Hi all,
I'm having a data connectivity issue on my phone when moving from 2G to 3G. If I'm connected to 2G, then move into an area of 3G coverage the phone will successfully migrate to the 3G network, however the data connection will often not start up for between 30 minutes and severanl hours. Flipping airplane mode will *sometimes* fix it, but more frequently, even rebooting the phone won't work. However, if I lock the phone to 3G from the settings, I do not encounter this issue at all. It only happens on my home provider (Jersey Telecom - they're small). In the UK, on Three, it didn't happen.
So, given that the problem can persist over reboots, and doesn't happen in the UK, it makes me think it's more likely a network issue, so I called them up. The network engineer managed to reproduce the issue on his colleagues Samsung Galaxy Note, but they are adamant that it's a phone issue and not a network issue, and is a matter of Samsung not sticking to the specs. The phone isn't currently rooted, but I can root it if it will help me debug the problem. From the sounds of it, it may be problem consistent to all Samsung radio phones on our network.. and I really don't want to switch to another phone.
They say that from their logs, the phone is not always trying to create (or presumably, migrate?) a PDP when moving to a 3G network. It's hard to say whether it's a problem with the phone or their logs.. has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Does anyone know how to access logs about the phone trying to create a PDP etc. so that I have something to compare with theirs?
Thanks

Hi,
I have been experiencing a few issues with the 4G LTE on my LG V10 H901 (T-Mobile). What happens is this.
In Network mode I selected GSM / WCDMA / LTE Auto. This initially worked fine and could get a data connection. 2 days after, I noticed I couldn't get a data connection anymore, the 4G LTE icon at the top was displaying with a down arrow lit. So I went in the Network mode and checked my APN everything was ok. Decided to switch from GSM / WCDMA Auto where I got a 4G connection (icon 4G displayed at the top) and I finally got a data connection.. Changed it back to GSM / WCDMA / LTE Auto, and there I was back on LTE... I had to reboot my phone and that is when I noticed the same thing happened again!!! No LTE connection and had to first select GSM / WCDMA Auto to get 4G.. If I reboot with GSM / WCDMA Auto I get a data connection fine.. The problem only occurs when I have the Network mode on GSM / WCDMA / LTE Auto. Anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix?
Thanks
I would say it's a hardware problem with the phone I've had mine for a month i never touched network settings and the phone gets a better data connection then any phone I've ever had LTE pretty much all the time where other phones wouldn't maybe a factory reset would fix it worth a shot
The first V10 i got from T-Mobile had somewhat of a similar problem but with WiFi, it would connect but speed was horrible. And LTE isnt that great in my area either. I read around the forums and notice that many have done factory resets and that fixes everything. I did that and lowe and behold, it did. WiFi was fast again and LTE speed improved but still sucks....its my area, not the phones fault. For some reason, a reset helps.
However, I was still just 4 days in since I got my phone so I just went back and had them replace it. I just told them that the WiFi doesnt hold....they didnt really ask me tons of questions. I replaced it only because I am paying for the phone and me having to do a "fix" to make it work doesnt sound right...so I want a new good phone lol. The new phone worked fast from the get go...no reset needed.
Just got the V10 was having those wifi issues initially so brought phne back n exchanged for another 1 and this 1 workes fine but now Im having dropped call s inside my house ,verizon said no antenna issues i can bring phne back n replace for something else or another v10 but that is time consuming ,please anyone having drop d call s....I live Long Island NY so verizon overage is better then most carriers...INaNYmin...
I began having the exact same issue on Jan 16. Had the phone since Dec 25th, worked perfect. Then, all of a sudden, it began to lose LTE connectivity. At first I thought it was a down tower, but the problems persisted an eventually got much worse wherever I went. On a full charge the phone will behave normally for a while, but eventually it starts losing data connectivity altogether, cycling between 4G LTE, 4G, 3G, 2G, trying to connect. during this process the battery drains a lot, it never really connects, and sometimes calls and text messaging fail. Tried every network setting, soft reboot, hard reboot, safe mode, clear cache, factory reset....problem persists. T-mobile concludes it must be defective. We shall see. Awaiting a replacement.
Having the same issue. Looks like it's a common problem. Any fix for this yet?
I have a similar issue.
it always seems to find the LTE signal, however I have no data and the battery drains very quickly.
If I have it on GSM/WCDMA/LTE, it seems to have connection issues. However, the data will connect on GSM/WCDMA. Once I have data, then if I select GSM/WCDMA/LTE, and it will connect to LTE
It is a Tmobile version. I am using it on Bell (Canada)... however it works fine with Wind & Tmobile, with no issues.
I am hoping that this will be fixed with the Marshmallow upgrade.

Wind works on hspa not LTE. That's why it works. I've noticed that it works fine on hspa(4g) but when I put it on LTE(4gLTE) it works for a while then stops.

For me, Wind works fine on GSM/WCDMA or GSM/WCDMA/LTE
With Bell, it will not connect on GSM/WCDMA/LTE.
However, with Bell, if I put it on GSM/WCDMA, it will connect. Then if I change it to GSM/WCDMA/LTE, it will connect to Bell's LTE.
Occasionally, it will lose its data connection... and then if I toggle between GSM/WCDMA & back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE, it reconnects. This seems to happen once every 2-3 days
I don't know why it does this. It was actually very frustrating until I figured that out. I almost dropped Bell because I was not able to connect on LTE for the longest time!!
I just keep my Wind plan for the US roaming (on Tmobile LTE down there)

Yup exact same issue with me and that's how I resolve it as well I'm with koodo and I lose LTE. I was going to warranty this phone but I think it's a common issue.
I just want to quickly point out that I am seeing the exact same issue on Virgin Mobile (Bell). I also noticed that the performance of the phone decreases drastically when it is connected through mobile data instead of WiFi. Anyone else sees this and knows how to fix it?
Lg v10 t mobile no connection
I'm having a similar issue I get a 4G LTE signal but if I make a call once I end it I loose all signal including the bars it wont let me text or call it says network not available and it will do that till I travel a few miles. I'm not in a dead zone because it does it in the heart of the city and on the buisest streets in Tampa Florida then it will come back and sometimes I won't get a signal for a entire day out shoe have any solutions?
