Just received replacement Eris...
I'm freshly rooted and backed up, looking for the new Gmail app.
I don't want to flash a ROM quite yet, just looking to upgrade Gmail.
Shoot a pm or a link if u can.
Thanks ladies....and gentlemen...

Wouldn't you find the new Gmail app under the Market?
If not then try going into Froshedyo because I know he has the latest gapps out to download and flash
Try this:
Recovery Mode
Wipe dalvik cache
Flash Froshedyo's gapps under Vanilla (gapps-mdpi-20101218-signed.zip)
Reboot

You do know that the upgraded Gmail only works on Froyo, right? If you got a replacement Eris and haven't flashed a ROM yet, then you're running on 2.1 (Eclair) and you won't find the upgraded Gmail in the Market.

To be a bit more helpfull for you, you really should tell us which rom you actually downloaded, you may or not be aware that there is more than one(1) rom for our legend....
Now, making an assumption that you put cyanogen mod on your phone, you also need to flash the gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip (or if there is a newer version) it is located on the cyanogen website.
This is required if you are going to access google accounts on your phone, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I also believe you need it for the market, google maps, Gmail and stuff.

Try reflash eclipse 2.0.2 over what you have now. May have had an issue with the google portion of the install.
Try a fresh download of it too

I had an issue with my Eris similar to that it took me formatting the phone. Mine was I could only do the Google sites and nothing else. With the Droid and Eris there are gapps.zip (Google app) you have to flash with lots of the roms. If you didn't flash the gapps. You get his outcome in the OP.

How long do you think it would take for the release tomorrow to become rooted? Im using T-Mobile, would 4g still work if I switched or do I have to wait for root?

How would you go about backing up and restoring contacts and texts/mms? Titanium backup shows the contacts and what not but it also says 2.3.6 at the end. I feel like restoring this 2.3.6 onto 4.0.4 might not work.
Also, I'm aware you shouldn't lose anything in the upgrade process but I want to factory reset and erase absolutely everything prior to this upgrade. I run a stock rooted ROM.

i wouldnt restore ANY system data from gingerbread to ICS
but thats just me
it might work, but might have problems
Yea that's what I'm saying. So is there another method to backup restore texts? I see a method to put them on the SIM but you can only do them individually.

Hi, guys !
Yesterday I updated my razr Hd to jelly bean by OTA. Everything gone fine, but this morning, when I tried to use SMS, I saw that the stock app were gone!
I tried to reinstall it by the native apk (my phone is rooted) but it doesn't install saying that it was not possible.
Then I installed the Go SMS Pro app to see what would hapen: it worked like a charm! All my old SMS were there and was fully operating.
I tried once more to install the stock apk, but had the same error...
Anyone knows what may be happening? What can I do?
This go SMS pro is very heavy, I don't like and want my stock app back!

Have you made a backup before flashing?

Try flashing Cm10.1 MMS apk
Try flashing the Cm10.1 MMS Apk. Just search it in the forums. Download the zip. Reboot into recovery. And install zip from sd. Its very similar to the stock messaging but with a couple extra features. If that doesn't work and you really, really need to have your stock MMS back, do a titanium backup of all apps and data then factory reset. Or just flash a custom ROM.
