Notification bar - Streak 5 Themes and Apps

I am running dj Steve's 1.6.1 and was wondering if there was anyway to get normal greyish white notification bar with the regular froyo icons on the streakdroid 1.6.1.
I still wanna obivously have everything else the exact same but I wanna have the normal notification bar for froyo.

hm..
no easy, but you can mayme make your own notification bar with icons and update framework-res
there are lots of online tools to do that!

I am pretty new at this. Has no one tried doing this before?

I have tried to make custom notifcation bars for1.6.1. However it fails evry time. With earlier versions of the Rom,1.5.x i was able to do it.
No one is giving details avout the framework-res.apk. So, i cannot create any new notification bars with the cooking tool i was using.
I need to know if the framework-res is already modified. I am fairly sure it is and that is the problem.

A little luck and some success
Guys,
I tried several of "drgopoos" circle battery percentage and have some success. May be someone with more knowledge can take this further. The original link to all "drgopoos" work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854248
I got lucky by using the circle battery meant for Steve 1.5.1 (project 6) on the latest Steve's 1.6.1. It actually modify the notification bar to 90% of what I am looking for - AOSP notification look. The only problem are the time/clock font is white on grey background and some other texts are also in white. I will also try to attach the exact 1.5.1 battery zip file here. Again, it is not my work! So, please thank drgopoos!
I also saw some posting by krad or kradkrad just recently about how to make changes to the clock's text color. I will probably try that when I have time...
EDIT: Found the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936780
Good luck on the AOSP Notification on Steve's 1.6.1 for the few of us.
Again, the file attached below is not my work! It is drgopoos!

do you guys have any idea what rom the framework-res.apk came from in dj steve?
if you could find out, you just download that rom's framework-res.apk...
open the rom apk and a copy of DJ steves apk with 7zip or winrar.. notice "open" not extract
then open the layout folder, and drag and drop from stock to dj steve. Stick to the statusbar xml files only.
then open the hdpi and mdpi folders and drag the files over to dj steve.
you should now have a modified DJsteve framework with stock graphics and colors.
go to the circle kitchen website and pick the battery meter you want, and at the end hit upload framework-res.apk and upload your modified one.
you can then download the signed zip and flash to your phone via streakmod or clockwork... if all goes right.. you should have a dell stock graphics.
have fun.

[Theme] Vanilla Android Look (JK2 / Macnut R5 / Hybrid R4 / JI6) - Updated 11/22/2010

I just thought I would post these for anyone who likes the complete vanilla android look. I basically ported over my pulldown mod that I did for the AOSPish roms to Eugene's latest hybrid rom and his macnut froyo rom.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Update: 11/22/2010 - Updated for JK2 per request below. This update includes a couple of different items than the previous versions and I am not going to update the older versions since everyone is most likely moving on from most of the eclair builds.
JK2 Version includes:
- Mostly same as below.
- New icon for auto-orientation to better fit
- Includes a more accurate AOSP-looking battery mod. This was done by me to look identical to the AOSP battery with the exception that it moves down by 5% increments instead of 20%. It also does not show the percentage.
- Includes the CM6 MMS for the notification icon
- Includes the Settings.apk so isn't all colored and ugly
I have tested this with Mancut R12 and it works pretty good. The AOSP lockscreen has a slight two tone color issue with the slider tab that I can't figure out. I would recommend using this with this ROM (runs the best).
This can also be flashed over AOSPish JK2 and work just fine.
I think this has issues with BIONIX JK2 roms due to some of the edits/enhancements they have made.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The new JI6 version should work on most de-odexed JI6 ROMs. I tested on BIONIX final and fusion without issue.
I tried to pull as much of the TW look/style/colors out of the frameworks to achieve the stock android look. The hybrid rom version is more complete since the froyo rom still contains a lot of samsung apps.
What is included:
- Mostly stock vanilla android look (typical AOSP)
- Themed power control in pull-down to kind of match the stock android power control widget.
- Added functionality in the pull-down power controls from untermensch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816658) - Better bluetooth and three state volume/vibrate. (Only 2.1 based roms) - updated to newest revision.
- Added the pull-down highlight fix by matt_stang (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822286)
- All horizontal progress bars are stock android orange, not green.
- All list sub text is stock gray, not blue.
- In call pull-down controls and music pull-down controls work with the appropriate apps.
- NO accurate battery (maybe later but it would retain complete stock look)
- Hybrid version includes a phone app and desk clock for icon changes.
- Hybrid version includes the modded music app to play nice with pull-down controls, untermensch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818340)
- JI6 version includes AOSP mms app.
Flashable in CWR. Doesn't wipe anything.
Thanks to all the people here for the great work! Credits to everyone, YAY!
That does look pretty sexy... might have to give this a shot at some point. Thank you.
Thanks flashed and I love it! Using R5 by the way..

You are awesome! I spent most of the day today trying to do just this and failed miserably (I have much to learn), and luckily found this just after I gave up. This is great, thanks!
I have one request if you have the time: could you please make a version with the accurate battery icons that Eugene has in Hybrid? Would be great to have the 100 or so icons for discharging and the others for charging. Thanks!
I should also mention that the phone got stuck on the Samsung boot loop on the first boot after flashing this, but I turned it off and back on and everything was back to normal. Not sure if that's a one-time fluke or due to the flash.
Will this work with bionix?

Is the last power control widget on the right sync? Can we change that to auto rotate, like in the froyo rom?

Tried it on Bionix Fusion 1.1, works great! Thanks!
As far as the accurate battery, I know that's not quite stock. Mostly just a personal preference so I can actually tell how much battery I have left (seeing as 100% and 81% looks exactly the same with the stock battery). I might try to make that mod based on yours, but last time I did that the results were disastrous.
cgrunner, can I ask what you do to edit framework-res.apk? I'm trying to figure out how to get those battery icons in there, but every time I decompile and compile back (even without making changes), I get a bunch of errors. Is there some trick to this that I'm not aware of? If it helps, I can't just add the images in there, I have to also modify the xml files related to battery status.

You can't decompile and then recompile a modified apk, mainly due to broken 9 patch images.
What you can do is decompile and modify a stock de-odexed JI6 framework-res.apk, then recompile it and move the modified compiled files over to my framework-res.apk from this mod.
So, to modify this for an accurate battery mod all you really need to do is find a framework with the modified framework files for the accurate battery mod. You need to pull stat_sys_battery.xml and stat_sys_battery_charge.xml from /res/drawable in the framework-res.apk for the accurate battery mod. place these into the same directory in my framework-res.apk. Then place all of the appropriate images for the accurate battery mod in /res/drawable-hdpi.
That should work as lond as you use a JI6 accurate battery mod to work from. Maybe find a meta morph battery mod and pull the files from there.
I hope this helps and isn't too confusing Let me know if you have success. I may work on a new battery mod for this that still carries the AOSP look but is more accurate. It's just a lot of tedious work.
Edit... You will also need to edit the public.xml with the names of all the new images. Let me see if I can make an accurate battery version of these and then you just have to replace the images if you want.
Should we disable Voodoo first before applying this? I'm running Bionix Fusion w/ Voodoo.

Ah, thanks Just out of curiosity, do you know what the reason is that we can decompile the stock framework-res.apk but not decompile it again after it's been modified and compiled?
I guess making changes to your framework-res would be too hard since I'd basically have to redo all of your work, so it would be great if you could tack on the new images to public.xml. If it helps, I can zip up the images from Eugene's Hybrid ROM that I've been trying to use and the compiled/decompiled battery xml files (whichever is easier), and I can also post the new public.xml values somewhere (there's roughly 100 of them).
Thanks for your help!

Notification bar icons update for DJ Steves 1.2 Froyo

Hello all,
After updating to Dj Steve's 1.2 Froyo, i very disliked some of the stock icons. I have updated signal strength icon, signal icon, wifi icon, gps icon, usb connected icon, notification background window and notification font color. Please enjoy the new icons! 2 different themes, 1 with signal icon download/upload arrows and the other without. I will also entertain any comments, suggestions, and requests.
also stay tuned for the return of my black notification bar as soon as official froyo is released.
1. Download iconupdates1.4witharrows.zip or iconupdates1.4withoutarrows.zip.
2. Extract framework-res.apk from zip to your SDCARD.
3. Backup current framework-res.apk located /system/framework.
4. Mount /system/framework as RW, and copy framework-res.apk from step 2 into the folder. You can use ADB or Root Explorer to copy over new file.
5. After file copies, phone will reboot and you will have your new icons!
To restore old framework-res.apk, simply perform same steps except copy over the backed up files from step 3.

Really great job
I was wondering if u could point me in any direction regarding how to change framework stuff. I have a lot of custom icons tweaked with gimp and the only problem I have is copying over the original apk. I know adb pretty well and I'm very streak savvy I guess. Just new to themeing
Tried 'notificationbar141andicons.zip' on 1.4.2 and after a long boot up it works fine
It reset my wallpaper back to the clouds and It lost my google account and facebook account sign in info.
The date in the top left seems to be off centre when you pull down the menu, and the red background is a bit gareish, IMO that is
Font colors updated, date cut off fixed and now updated for 1.4.5 of the awesome DJ Steve's froyo.

BlackTaskbar, coloured Circle Battery with %,Coloured Icons,for Steve's 1.5.0,1.6.0

Hi All,
I have (at long last) managed to do a black taskbar, with a coloured battery (With percentage) and coloured icons (V3). The carrier and other text is white.
Respect to Quikt for his modified services.jar & Tina333 for all her theme work!
This theme works on DJSTeve's latest 1.5.0 ROM & Also 1.6.0
NOTE it will take a few minutes to load so it will hang on the boot animation for a few minutes - just be patient!!!
As normal copy the zip file to your SD root. Run Recovery (I use mistadman, because it's brilliant), etc, etc
What's the best app for a screen shot?

I want to try this but it took me awhile to upgrade my US att 1.6 to steve1.5. I am still iffy with the command prompt thing and not sure when to run what.
If I drop this in the root of my SD can I just hold the volumes and power buttons and tell it to install from zip or do I have to do some command line in fastboot first?
If not mistaken I just boot up using volume keys tell it to install pkg from sd card and then clockwork boots and allows me to install zip?
does my phone reset or is everything else retained?
Thanks.
Hey Ody,
If you could drop these changes into a framework for Steve's 1.5.1 so we can have a version for it, I'd really appreciate it!
Steve's changed the animations in 1.5.1, and he's saying that could present a problem with the status bars, themes, etc.
Anyway, I love this bar, and would definitely want to put it on 1.5.1 when I go to it. In fact, I might just wait a little bit to see if you update this before making the jump.
Call me crazy to wait on a whole ROM for a status bar, but I'm a sucker for a black bar, and I think this one's the best.
Thanks!
I installed it over 1.5.1 and everything booted fine. I lost the animations, which I didnt like anyway.

Ahh good call there. I thought that might be what would happen, but I have had these things result in bigger consequences before. Wasn't willing to experiment this time.
Anyway, I just flashed it too with the same result. I didn't hate the animations, but I tend to prefer snappy to flashy when it comes to performance, so I don’t think I will miss them either.
Plus, I have my favorite black bar back!

If you find you really miss the animations, you can also take the framework from this taskbar, run through the UOT kitchen, changing nothing except for adding which ever animation you want, then cook it up. Just tried it with the flying animation and it worked.
can you do that and post the zip?

uhhhh, dumb face here.
I currently dont have enough posts to post a link to the one I made. But if you want to make you own, its not that hard. Just go into system/framework folder using root explorer, make a copy of the framework-res.apk file, and paste the copy into you sd card. From there transfer the file to your computer. Then go to the UOT kitchen website. Just select theme only, click and keep selecting the "dont include" option until you reach the animation section where you pick the one you want. Fom there you click onto the next page where you will upload your framework to the website, click next and the cooking will begin. After it is done, transfer the zip file created back to you sd card and go into clockwork. First you clear you davlik cache then run the zip, reboot (which will take a little longer than normal) and you will have this theme with the animation of your choosing.
Just applied this on 1.5.1 for the first time, very impressed, thanks

Well I was bored tonight so I decided to put together a new notification bar. I found some images I liked from this CM7 theme and decided to use them in different ways. For instance I changed his wifi meter to be my battery meter, his 4g meter to be my signal strength, and his signal strength to be my wifi strength. Added a few small tweaks here and there for charging, small tweaks to the bluetooth and gps indicators, and used the stock notification pulldown background with a touch of green.
I have a few small tweaks to make here and there and then I will port it to work with all popular builds (318, 345, 351). Your thoughts?
Looks nice

Hey mr jhotmann
its quit nice and i use already your Gingerkrad351 on 2.2.2.349 and it works perfekt.
I tried before mod 351 from alperin1 but this mod worked not really cause it hides my clock. I would prefer a mix with your black gingerkrad 351 and the icons of alperin

I asked him already but i ask you too cause your mod has no trouble wih the clock.
Maybe you can connect with alperin 1 and makes a mix of your mods?

Wish these things were easier to install, like copy it on to your ed and click install, and it works. I'm so confused by the method!
Sign me up too for 351. Only thing I don't like, is green (sort of) backround when pull down notification bar.
Can't wait.

not to hijack this thread... but those icons are from the kitchen... Why don't you pick the icons you like and cook your framework-res.apk.. from their drop the icons into my flashable zip framework-res.apk and viola you got it.
