Hi, I changed the Permissions setting in my Xperia x10 in order to get Dual touch. But after I changed it, I can't get access to internet even though on the top bar I got a 3G or 'H' sign and full signal strength. Can anyone tell me the defult Permissions Setting in Xperia x10? To check it, use Root Explorer and go to> etc/permissions and then long hold on the Permissions folder and then select Permissions, and then tell me which boxes got ticked. Please reply ASAP, thanks a mil!

There is an option in Xrecovery to fix permissions.
^ But when I tried installing xRecovery 0.2 through .apk file, it says failed to copy needed files to SDCard, make sure SDcard is inserted ahd has enough free space.. I mounted and inserted my SDCard and mySDCard still got few GBs of space left... What should I do? Probably is the permissions sh*t again...

As far as I know ADW Launcher, doesn't change the factory theme. In fact I have it installed and I can not change the theme.

You need the frameworks-res.apk for your firmware version. If the phone doen't turn on, you will need to do a repair (Using SEUS [Sony Ericsson Service Update]), you will loose all your data but you will recover your phone.

Is there any way to connect the mobile to the computer while the mobile is switched off? Because it says I have to go to the settings to do blahblah on my mobile then it will get connected...
Yesterday contacted Vodafone they said I have to go to their shop they are not sure if they can repair it or not, do you think it's an impossible thing to repair?

Yes, you need to:
1) Install SEUS
2) Connect your phone to the PC
3) press and Hold "BACK key" until green light turns on.
4) Follow the steps to repair.
Trying to delete applications I completely kill my phone and I could bring it back with that procedure.
Any launcher application won't change the theme (color and icons). For android 1.6 you change manually the color, takes little time. First root your phone, then get (use pull command) the framework-res.apk from System/framework folder. open the apk file with 7-zip or winrar and drag the all folder named like drawable*** to a temporary directory. Now change the view to thumbnails to see which folders are having images (.png). Go to those directory and pick desired file to edit. If you have good image editing software you do whatever color you need. I use .net paint because it's free and good enough for me. Once you are satisfied with the colors you just made again open the apk with 7 zip and open the particular directories to drag and drop your changes files. Done with colors.
Now use pull command for the system/app/ folder ...you get all the apk. In each of these apk you will find the drawable kind of a folder find the icon that comes on phone. Use your icon/downloaded icon, (do change the icon into 48x48) and darg and drop in the proper place of the apk. I used ireflect icons(google it).
By the way don't unzip and zip the apk file, that won't work.
Now push all the files in there respective folder and type reboot.
Now you will find there are still some apk is missing in the app folder, that is basically stored in data/app folder. But if you try to pull the whole folder nothing will come. use "ls" to view all the files and then use pull command by name. you will get it. Change the icon, install the apk just change the signing. To change the sign you need to delete META-INF folder then sign it.
You don't have to push-pull in this case just install the modified apk (before that u should uninstall the app).
Trying to install a Thai font into my new X10i but no luck. Got the fonts in Typefresh, managed to get them into system/fonts, /fonts, sdcard/fonts etc but it cant display them. I have Android 2.1 rooted but I don't get any message to reboot when I mount them. I also make the directories R/W and I reboot anyway according to all the threads I have read. When I check thru Root Explorer the directories are back to R/O. Got me baffled. Can anyone help please?
Greg
D Kub,
make sure you first change the permission of sdcard\fonts, you should be able to make a backup.
If you find no solution with typeflesh then just use RootExplorer to copy to system\fonts.
Again, make sure you have fix the permission.
I have tried both. After changing the permission in Rootexplorer to R/W then rebooting the permissions change back to R/O. Frustrating!
WAIT! late news.
The /system/fonts directory has R/W permissions. Still only see squares in messages, Google Translate and others. Huh?
I installed Thai fonts on my X10 using FontChanger. It worked perfectly for me.
I know im late but this is a bit confusing for me. I have rooted my x10 and according to "rootchecker" I also have busybox installed.(tho I can't find the busybox icon in my menu, it's just the superuser) Now I've seen some mods that requires me to flash the files via xrecovery. For example Bravia Engine, FPS Uncap, X-loud.
Now my question is when I open those file it has two folders "META-INF" and "System" now how do I put this into my phone?
Methods & Problems:
xRecovery - How do I flash the .zip file via xrecovery? Should I put it in my sd card and from the xrecovery mode press "Install update.zip from SD card"?? If yes then where in SD card? And Do I have to rename it as update.zip when I put it in my SD card?
Changing Value - There are some apps that requires changing value of my build.props. But when I change the value and try press tab to save, the save tab doesn't show (I mean I can't click on it). Then when I press back there's two option of "save" and "Discard" but when I save it and then re-enter into my build.props the value gets back to its original state. It doesn't change??
Unpacking - It says in a topic "Unpack all of the files to the relevant folders on your mobile" - What relevent folder? the folder it has in the zip file is not present in my sd card (I can see those folder via astro manager and I tried to copy/paste those folder into my sd and then via asto I tried to replace each original file that I have in my phone but it doesn't work, it doesn't let me paste it)
Sorry if this sounds stupid to you guys but I'm new to android and I'm having problem getting things right. So if any of you would help me through this issue step by step it'd be greatly appreciated.
To install those kind of things you have to use flashtool to add xrecovery to your phone, then you have to copy the .zip file in the sd card then turn off your phone and turn it back on when you get the sony ericsson logo start hitting the back key repeatedly till you go in xrecovery mode, use volume keys to go down and menu key to select, select the option install custom zip... then select install from sd card, then select the zip, and then select yes... let it install it and once is finish remove the battery and put back in, turn on your phone and the bravia, xloud or whatever zip you installed should be already running

To change the values in build.prop I recommend the use of Root Explorer,
Go to the folder \system\, tap on the grey button at the top of your screen, that says "Mount R/W", (after tapping it will read "Mount R/O". This will make the copying in root-folders possible, too.... you have to have changing-rights (read-write) to copy things into root-folders.
Then long-click on build-prop, scroll down and choose "Open in Text editor", change whatever you must change, and click left-hardware-button and after that choose "Save and Exit". The Root Explorer will make (and announce) a backup-copy named "build.prop.bak".
This should work.
Good luck, greetz,

Thanx bro...um sure it will work but I can't get root explorer to work
when I install it it takes permission from superuser, I pressed yes and then it says "SORRY!! The application Root Explorer (processcom.speedsoftware.rootexplorer) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" [Force Close]
I've tried two different version....
Try es explorer from market.

Hi there,
I upgraded my Galaxy 551 to Gingerbread 2.3.6. All went well. Unfortunately it seems to be a common side effect that the Z and Y keys (and some others) get swapped. The fix is apparently to modify the file /system/usr/keychars/sec_keypad.kcm.bin. The ideal thing is to put the old file from before the FW update back in, but of course I don't have that anymore! But the existing one can apparently be altered. If I can copy it to the SD card I can alter it in a hex editor and put it back.
So, I rooted my phone with that one click application, and that went OK too. I installed root explorer and found the file. There were also some others in the same folder I may be able to use. But, I cant make the folder R/W (pressing the button does nothing) so cant do anything with the file. I also tried Super Manager with no luck.
I am new to the phone fiddling stuff so noob level instructions would be appreciated!
Think I have it sorted. I installed superuser and then Root Explorer allowed me to select read/write. Now to try sort out this file!
OK, seems that you need to edit the file /system/usr/keylayout/sec_keypad.kl. Did that. DO'H now my keyboard doesn't work at all! Glad it saved a backup for me! Not sure what I did wrong, only edited two characters in a text file! Even the power button doesn't work. Got to pull that battery out LOL!
It seems when the file was saved it was saved with zero size. When I try to delete it to replace it with the backup it says cant delete, read only. So, not sure how I am meant to replace this and fix this problem.
Any ideas, remembering that I cant actually use any buttons on the phone!
Hi guys!
Could someone upload the original SamsungCamera.apk, please? Because when I'm tried to install HX Camera mod, i put the two files into a zip, when the Root Browser crashed. The two files were gone, and the zip became corrupt. After this, i put the mod to system\app. On the first run, it worked, but after a while it crashed. I run the camera again and it crashed after a time, again, and again. So I decided to try the video. And now it doesn't even want to start. So that's why i request the stock camera, and please upload as soon as possible. Thanks.

So, I downloaded this app and I've moved it to /system/app folder and I've tried to install it and it simply says "not installed". I've been searching the net for days now. I've done the following.
1. Root access for Apps and ADB
2. I deleted the CN 9 mod camera app in the /system/app folder (Is there something else that I need to delete?)
3. Installed Busy Box, Astro, ES File Explorer and Easy Installer
4. I successfully installed other stock apps such as S Voice.
I've found similar questions on the net, but no answer. Please help me out!
Set permissions to read write execute / read /read usint root explorer.
Reboot in recovery , wipe cache and dalvik.
Reboot.
That should do the trick

Thanks but no dice. I narrowed it down to few possible reasons, all of which I would need help with.
1. Even though, my options say that I'm rooted for "Apps and ADB", I don't think I'm "Fully rooted" as Android Commander still says "no root".
2. I don't have the right drivers. I was told that the "service drivers" are different than the normal USB drivers I get when I plug in my phone and maybe that's why Android Commander might not fully recognize my phone.
3. Permissions. I keep reading about read/write permissions, but maybe the options that I'm looking at is not the same "R/W" in question. I don't know.
4. Everything is correct and I just don't know what I'm doing
So, I realized that the app is a "read only" apk and it wont let me change it's permission in Root Explorer. Is there a way that I can change it? Or does anyone have another SG3 camera apk?
So, after extensive research, it has been reported that particular app doesn't work on custom roms.

U can change it actually in root explorer. At the top right there's R/O, click it so it'll be R/W.. from there u can change its permission. I know this is pretty obvious, but this may help u out. cheers!
