Would this thing work on Touch HD? Anyone have any idea? I've been googling all afternoon, but no one seems to mention anything about this neat keyboard pairing with XDA devices.

I think it wont -- in the link you provided its said and showed that theres a usb receiver and it works in 2400ghz frequency--- basically the keyboard comunicates only with the usb thingy, that came with the keyboard!!!
NO IT WONT!!
except only if you make it bluetooth keyboard!!!
Moving this to Blackstone accessories!
Yeah, sorry, I accidentally posted in the wrong thread

Nah, actually I'm aware of that thingy, but that's not what I want. I want a hardware keyboard I can use in my hands or in my lap. This one requires a flat surface to work and that's not an option since I need to be able to use the keyboard in the car / plane / train / ferryboat etc. So I have excluded pretty much all foldable keyboards because they can't be used that way.
I also saw the Logitech diNovo mini keyboard, which looks awesome, but is just so damn expensive I figured I first try to find some kind of alternative. There are a few mini wireless keyboards available out there, but only Logitech and this Super Tiny have illuminated keys (also a must have for me) and can be used without flat surface.
Guess I'll have to go for Logitech then
You could try by using the veripart 3-in-1 converter, which will give you a USB-port, so you can stick the transmitter onto it...
But I don't know how to get the drivers onto your device then....
Grtz,
Degake
Look for the Think outside, or i-Go bluetooth keyboard. it's foldable but you can use it on your lap also. I have been using one for the past two years. fantastic device!!

Yeah, me too, but I'm still undecided. Mostly because the reviews I read weren't that great as I expected.
To be honest, if I'm going to pay 150 euros for a plastic keyboard, then I expect it will be fantastic, and judging by what I read, it's just not so great as one would think.
I own a lot of Logitech devices and have been using their keyboards / mices for years. I never regret paying top money for those gadgets, but I'm just not sure about this little thing. Unfortunately, none of the available reviews tested this keyboard as an attachment to PDA device - most were oriented to Windows Vista tv application / web browsing. So, I'll wait for someone here on the forums to get it and report

I'm very interested in it's functioning with HD. Can you test it in SMS / Opera / Word? See if there's a way for the soft keys to be controled via keyboard.
Also, general impressions would be most welcomed.

How about the Freedom Slim Keyboard .. http://www.htcdepot.com/freedom-slim-keypad/9A55A5051.htm about the size of the HD and nice metalic feel to it.

Bt Keyboard pairs but no response from keypresses
Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me with this as I am rather stuck.
I got this keyboard http://www.iconuk.co.uk/Keyboards--Mice-&-Tablets/Bluetooth-Keyboards/Keysonic-Mini-Blutooth-Wireless-Keyboard-KB-ACK-595BT/p-1583-621-1758-4106/ - Keysonic KB-ACK-595BT.
So far I have only got it to work twice with the touch HD, where it connected and was quite happy typing and controlling windows mobile (typed a whole document quite happily). However, the 2nd time it took several attempts before it would work and now I can't seem to do it again.
As far as I can tell the keyboard is fine (connects to windowsXP without issue) but after paring with the Phone (which it accepts) there is no response from the key presses.
I've tried all sorts to get it to work, but no utility or attempts to change the stack or Soft/Hard resets seems to help. I've even upgraded the radio to 1.12.25.16 but made no difference. I think this must be a WM6.1 issue with BT paring but I'm out of idea on how to fix it.
It is driving me nuts though, since it worked twice so why doesn't it now? Can't find anyone else who has had a similar problem so stuck for ideas on what to try next.
Thanks in advance.
Tim.
Hey all you gaming hd fans out there, just thought id let you in on a little discovery of mine.
The Foldable Bluetooth Gamepad DOES work with the HD
I got mine second hand off ebay, but heres a link to the product im talking about:
http://www.order-bulk.com/Bluetooth-Gamepad-For-Mobile-Sony-Ericsson-Nokia-Motorola-LG-Samsung.html?currency=GBP&language=en#googlebase
The first question is, does the HD fit inside the wings, which i can answer with a resounding yes, its a tight fit but with no chance of your HD falling out during a frantic button bashing session!
Its a little tricky to get working with the HD as the install disk, or this driver file:
http://www.gdbint.com.au/downloads/drivers/BGP100_v1502_Games_Included.zip
does not include the HD as a selectable phone, however using this sequence i got it installed:
added the gamepad to my bluetooth devices (not sure this is needed but it what i did)
connected my phone and laptop using a usb activesync
ran the setup.exe from the driver file and clicked a couple of next buttons and an agree
when selecting a phone chose the htc magician
then comes the bit that i had to try a couple of times, the cab runs on the HD and asks where to install, device or storage. the first time i tried device and the program wouldn't open, (an error about certification) so i tried again and installed to storage and hey presto everything worked!!
However there was one more stumbling block in my quest to play zelda on my phone, although the gamepad worked for navigating menus and such like, morphgear would recognise my clicks once i'd started playing. a quick search on google and reinstalling morphgear kicked this problem to touch however and here i am, about the play zelda: a link to the past until i run out of AAA batteries for the pad!!!
So if anybody else out there is into gaming and HD'ing then i would wholeheartedly recommend this product
I haven't noticed any difficulties while installing the driver. The gamepad works just fine, unfortunately the HD doesn't fit in the middle of the gamepad, what makes it quite inefficient, at least for me ...
on my gamepad there are two adjustable rubber grips inside the folding arms to hold the phone in place, try sliding these to the outside of the arms and the HD should squeeze inside:

good find thanks very much, I will probably be buying this tonight!
Many many thanks for the infos...
you just answered all my unanswered questions
ordering it soon.....
I've just received mine...
Works perfect.... more than perfect ..
installed on storage card and call of duty2, flux challenge, pocket clive (zx spectrum emulator) all work fine
Maybe just a barebly noticed lag in communication (a small delay in controls... and i am not so sure about it)

nice
thx for the informations
but i think it looks a lil cheap
isn´t there any posibility to use a normal bluetooth controller for example the PS3 controller ?
It looks cheap but take it from someone who owns one, the build quality on it is on par/close to with Genuine playstation controllers.
Buttons feel good, not mushy and spongy, sliders move smoothly and no poorly fitting parts or grinding in the moving bits. They are REALLY good.
I have to disagree. I've had this bluetooth gamepad for a long time, mainly used for the N95. The quality is average at best and no where near the comfort of any game console controllers. The most annoying feature is the extremely poor battery life. It doesn't last more than a couple of hours... It will cost you a fortune in the long run and frustrate you in the middle of a game.
If you want a controller I would rather use the iGo Stowaway Keyboard. The battery last about 90hrs. Not ideal but it doubles up as a QWERTY.
Hi!
i have buyed bgp100 gamepad too but it seems don't works correctly, A,B,C,D,R button are received from htc hd like same button...
i tried to read with attention qhat mulligan2k say but maybe i don't understand something or i don't know...
with my notebook it works correctly, i think there some driver problem or wm6.5 incompatibility?
thanks for all answer.
Hi everyone ... bought a BGP100 last weekend here: http://www.pearl.de/a-HZ1400-4046.shtml?query=bluetooth gamepad
But if i install the driver via PC (cab installation) and after starting the Gamepad application, there is an error message popup:
"Connection error! Sorry! We don't support this Bluetooth Gamepad."
Anyone has a solution?
hi, you have to install ms version not widcom, it works for me, but there is other problem: A,B,C,D,R are receive from the HD with same exadecimal code and it's unusable for playing...
if it works for you please say something on this board please.
Hmmm ... this Gamepad is absolutely not working. Tried a lot of drivers, MS Bluetooth Stack drivers, Widcomm drivers (with them, the gamepad dialog doesn't start), samsung drivers ... everything.
The same message every time: "Connection error! Sorry! We don't support this Bluetooth Gamepad." --- tried to connect directly via bluetooth, nothing.
I think, the gamepad isn't working for me (as it's not a MSI gamepad )

maybe it is incompativle with winmo devices, maybe bgp100 driver aren't same of your gamepad driver.
I have bought through ebay the exact gamepad.

I have had no problems at all.
Have in mind that you must install the drivers in the storage card and not in the device

I know that this thread hasn't been posted to in a few months, but I hope that the information that I am posting will help someone. This is my first time posting anything, anywhere, on the web.... so wish me luck.
My current setup is a HTC Sprint Touch Pro flashed to ToO's CricKet rom(very nice). Whilst expirementing with emulation on the device, and mapping the keyboard buttons, all of the Action Buttons were showing up as the same location on the keyboard. Regaurdless of what button I pressed, they all came up as 020 if I remember right. After spending night after night of searching forum after forum, along came a solution. Posted somewhere in the deapths of our very own xda-developers.com I read about this program KforTP. Created by "Jack Wang", I am not sure as to how Mr. Jack came to developing this marvelous tool... but I think it would have happened like this...
Late one night in 2008 while at the bar, Jack sat sat freeloading WiFi on his HTC Touch Pro. Downloading emulators at speeds that would put The Flash to shame.
(Evil Laugh)
After a few rounds too many Jack became enraged at his phone.
"Why won't my Action Buttons map on PockSNES!"
Only it came out in a drunken slur. The bartender knew that Jack was terribly drunk.
"Hey et your drunk #[email protected] outta here!"
As Jack left the bar in his beat-up honda he turned the music up and let the windows down to keep his mind off of driving drunk. Rounding a sharp curve on a wet road Jack soon found himself spinning out of control. Lights were comming from everywhere on the dashboard....
"OH &$#% I'M GONNA DIE!!!!"
The car finally came to a hault, and Jack was deaf to the music wailinng from the speakers.
"Yeeeeeee Haaaaaaw!"
Jack got back on the road and drove safely home. After walking through the threshold of his abode, Jack knew that he survived that crash for only one reason.
"I must code a fix for my problem with the Action Buttons not mapping."
But any way the file is attached so give it a shot, and let me know how you liked my first post ever in my LIFE... any feedback would be nice.... Add me on Facebook... whatever.... oh wait, i never post my email address! But seriously let me know what you think. I have never tried this program on any device except for MY Touch Pro. The code may need to be adjusted if you intend to use it on any other device. I do not take any credit for this program in any way. The authors information is in the "about" section.
Welcome, new net citizen!
Post here about anything you might have found out about the internal NookColor hardware.
Here's one to start with:
Look at dmesg under Android. The wireless driver is TIWLAN, and a little Googling correlates the line "Chip ID is 0x4030111" with a WL1271, a TI part with 802.11b/g/n, bluetooth, and FM. However, as far as I can tell Bluetooth isn't anywhere to be seen in the Nook ROM.
This document shows the typical setup for the WL1271, which is for WiFi to connect to the host through SDIO (one of the SD/SDIO/MMC interfaces) and Bluetooth and FM to go through a UART.
There may not be antennae for BT and FM, but we should definitely look into this

Maybe not FM, but that document I linked shows a "WiLink 6.0 Solution" that uses an antenna switch so only one 2.4GHz antenna is needed for BT and WiFi.
Ohhhh, this has some interesting potential!
I got Flash 10.1 to install, but cannot get the B&N Browser to Dolphin to recognize that its installed when I try to do something with Flash (tells me I need to install it)

Interesting, but let's keep this thread on the topic of hardware.
Have you tried checking the ttys? Or even just trying to put a bluez stack + firmware taken from another device on it?
BlueTooth
Please, Oh Please, tell me that this device can do BlueTooth. The ability to add a wireless keyboard would make this device Perfect for me!!!!
Agreed, Bluetooth FTW. We could be one kernal injection away from BT!

I didn't bother; from that doc I posted there's a GPIO enable for bluetooth, and unless the BN developers were complete bozos they've turned it off and left it off in this kernel. We could go searching for it, but it would get tedious. I am willing to bet that it's referenced in the BN u-boot and kernel sources though.
The TI WLAN/BT/FM driver and firmware can be found here: http://gforge.ti.com/gf/project/wilink_drivers/
This might not be the right section. But what are the possibilities of overclocking to possibly run the tablet version of android "3.0" which is said to require 1ghz or faster processor??
This is an interesting find. My guess is that it would have been too much of a hassle for BN to get a WIFI only chip so they opted for the ready made one and disabled the rest of the functionality.
But I think until we have a cooked ROM for the Nook we won't be able to see BT any time soon. This is too stripped down an OS.

It's clear that the NC is based on TI's ebook reference platform. Given the amount of TI silicon in there I wouldn't be surprised if TI cut them a deal on this WiFi module such that it was cheaper than another company's WiFi-only one. It's not clear what's inside the module, and for all we know there is no BT/WiFi switch, which would make it impossible to run anything but WiFi.
As long as the module has a switch, it wouldn't make any sense for BN to hard-disable the bluetooth. There aren't that many connections just to get BT data, and I'm pretty sure the OMAP doesn't use those connections (1 GPIO, 1 UART) for anything. It would only cost a few PCB traces and maybe a pullup resistor or two, less than a couple of cents at scale.

It seems pretty unlikely, to be honest. The NC wasn't intended to run straight Android so can't see B&N being massively interested in supporting future Android versions.

That's a fairy tale. The next version of android will be 2.3, and nothing about 3.0 could be confirmed as it's likely 6 months away at least. And no one has really even confirmed anything about 2.3. It's all been sightings and rumors.
But back on topic - has anyone had a look at the TI Ebook reference material? Maybe they have a vanilla version of android that is made to work with the processor? It's possible the Nook hardware is similar or identical to some TI reference design - it is the first product based on that chip after all, maybe B&N just let TI design the thing?
EDIT: At the bottom of the page for this processor it says: "This product is intended for high-volume wireless OEMs and ODMs and is not available through distributors. If your company meets this description, please contact your TI sales office."
So Grr, looks like they're not going to share much unless you're a big company. Sometimes these guys have lots of support material for their processors, but I guess this one is too specialized.

I browsed through a bit. Looks like very well supported hardware - the driver for the WIFI chip is in the AOSP source tree, and the graphics chips is pretty common.
It would seem to me that a port of Cyanogen would be very straightforward. The missing buttons would need to be mapped to something - maybe an additional UI component which popped up for menu and back? - but other than that...doesn't look too bad. Simpler than a lot of others, maybe.
And damn, this device looks like it would be pretty quick. It's no slouch now, and with Froyo...and maybe a touch of overclocking... it would be faster than a Nexus one with absolutely killer battery life.
A very commonly available, high-quality Cyanogen tablet for $250?
Sick.
You could copy the Archos on-screen buttons (which look really annoying but are better than nothing)

Eh, as far as I can tell it's the same die as the 3630 but in a lower pin count package, without a package-on-package (DRAM/flash stacked on top) version, no camera interface, and only specced for 800MHz. The 3630 comes in 1200MHz versions, and as we've seen with the Nooter bootloader (by accident) it's possible to make this part run at least at 1GHz.
The datasheet for this part is the general 36xx series datasheet, and at 24MB isn't lacking at all (except for the DRM stuff).

There's a thread in the general section right now about a button remapping app.
I just manually did what the app does, pulled the .kl files, changed VOLUME_UP to BACK and VOLUME_DOWN to MENU, pushed the files back and rebooted.
Et Voila, Bob's yer uncle, I now have menu and back keys...at the expense of losing a couple of volume control keys about which I care not at all.
Nice.
I've posted in several minecraft forums with no luck, so here goes.
I have two HTC Flyer's running stock 3.2.1 with Sense.
My boys enjoy playing minecraft pe and connecting to one another.
The problem is that neither Flyer will host a game.
I can start a game on an ipad, iphone 4s, touchpad with cm9, and other devices, and the Flyers will find each game and connect no problem.
When I try to start a game on the Flyer and set server visible, I can not get any device to find the game.
All are on the same wifi and have tried multiple routers.
It appears to be something in the way the Flyer handles the Wifi, but I can not find any settings or tweaks that work.
Any suggestions?
I've thought of trying a different rom, but the boys use the tablet's to skype with their grandparents and all the newer roms do not have the camera functional.
Thanks
Mmm, well my friend and I play it together as well... He opens a wifi hotspot (even though he has no 3G plan/connection) and I connect to it and play... We have phones, could it be that u need a SIM device to enable wifi hotspots? Try doing same with 2 iPads, if wont work then you need to have the host with a SIM device... Is their a problem if someone playes on iPad other one on Flyer?
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Problem appears to only be with the flyer acting as host.
If I open a game on an ipad, iphone, or other android tablet (even opened one on an mk802) and the flyers can connect to it every time. However, when I start a game one either flyer, nothing can see or connect to the game.

Finally figured it out. After much googling and reading, I accidently left the flyer part off a search and ran across a thread with the same problem on an HTC desire.
Seems it is bug with Sense 3.0 and minecraft pe. So far nothing has been done to attempt a fix.
So now I'm trying to figure out the best rom to choose in which camera functions and sense has been stripped.
Thanks to everyone for their input and thoughts.
Hi,
Have not used my Nook Tablet recently because have newer hardware.
Recently saw "Use An Android Tablet as a Live Monitor for your DSLR Camera" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnzkHegu3aA and hope can do this with my Nook Tablet 16GB.
Searched the forum and then YouTube using Nook Tablet for camera monitor but to date have found nothing.
Hope someone else has interest in doing this.
Thanks

A search through the forum for "USB Host" seems to indicate that while many people over the years have coveted this capability, it has never been implemented on the NT.
That said, there are some DSLR cameras that use direct WiFi to communicate with Android devices and can display what they see on the tablet screen (not to mention accept remote commands from the device). These apps run just fine on the NT.
nmyshkin,
"there are some DSLR cameras that use direct WiFi to communicate with Android devices and can display what they see on the tablet screen (not to mention accept remote commands from the device). These apps run just fine on the NT" Unfortunately my cameras do not have WiFi.
Thanks for the tip about "USB Host" somehow my searches never picked it up. Redid the search using Nook tablet USB Host and got a Lot of Hits! Also Googled and got > 111K hits!!!
Clarification: Is the reason it has never been implemented on the NT a Hardware or a Software problem?
Googled and found [Q] USB Host/OTG mode for peripherals? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546363
Answer by tobdaryl "From what I have read this is not possible yet but is being looked at by at least Team B. Others may also be working on this but it holds lesser value till the more important things to everyday operation on internal hardware has been conquered" it sounds like a Software problem.
Beginners question, if it is a Software problem can it be corrected by installing a newer version of Android?
Thanks for your help!!!

It has to be patched into the OS by someone (if the hardware even allows for it). That funky USB connection on the NT may also cause issues, not sure.
But yes, it's maybe both, certainly at least non-existent code in the OS. I looked at my tablet running AOSP 7.0 and I only saw one mention of USB Audio in the Settings section. That's a typical USB Host application (I use it on my NST--there developers wrote new code patches to enable USB Host). Just for the heck of it and because I have all the hardware, I attached an OTG cable and a USB Audio device to my NT.
Nada. Generally there has to be a setting to enable USB Host because power input/output has to be changed, drivers added, among other things. The setting I found on my NT is probably just there like "camera" and "bluetooth" are there. They don't do anything but it was easier to just let them be than to take them out and try to trace all the threads that might unravel if they were removed.
So I think the answer is still that no one ever got around to looking at it seriously, or someone did once and found the hardware was an issue.
Sorry
nmyshkin,
Thanks for checking!!! My gut feeling now it is a Hardware Problem.
Any suggestions as to uses for the NT since the hardware is so old?
Ken

Beginners Question: Are you now running Android Open Source Project 7.0 on it?
Did you ever do any baseline speed tests with original NT OS and your later OSes?

I am running AOSP 7.0 (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/general/how-to-installing-aosp-android-7-0-t3578665) and it performs flawlessly for me. No FCs, no freezes, no funny business. It's the best ROM I've run on the tablet (I never ran the stock).
Back when I was running CM 10.2.1 I did an AnTuTu test because someone asked about the speed of the system (which I thought was "fine"). I've never run another one, feeling they are pretty much useless. It seemed to test a great number of things I would never use the tablet for. The real question is "am I satisfied with the performance?". My answer is "yes".
My husband has an HD which I recently upgraded to CM 12. I know from working with his tablet that it is a little more responsive than mine, but I honestly don't care that much. I don't experience lag to any extent that changes my blood pressure and I'm constantly amazed at how well the tablet performs. So that's my test
