How to Kindle app without whispersync. (dropbox) - Nook Color Themes and Apps

This may be common sense but I was having problems earlier syncing my kindle for mac and pc books with my Kindle for android. The kindle app on the nook is a nice alternative to the built in B&N reader for the availability of .mobi files.
Basically this is how I wireless sync my kindle app with my kindle for mac. If there is a better way I'd love to hear it.
Requirements:
-Dropbox app and dropbox on pc/mac.
-.mobi ebook file (or any other file readable by kindle)
-Root Explorer or similar
-SD card.
1) take the .mobi file or .azw file you want in your kindle app and put (or copy) it in your drop box. (I use calibre to edit the metadata/ add a table of contents if they are not already present before I move them).
2)Open dropbox app and download ebook. Then exit dropbox.
3) Open root explorer then to /sdcard/dropbox. Hit menu then multi-select, select the book (or books) you want to move and hit move. Go back to parent folder.
4) Go to the kindle folder (should be in /sdcard/kindle) you have to use the kindle folder on the sd card.
5) Click paste and exit root explorer.
6) To get your kindle app to sync with your sd card you have to pop the sd card out and put it back in. I just press it twice.
7) Open up kindle app and your books should be there.
Obviously you can avoid doing this by using an sd card reader and just dragging the books, into the kindle directory straight from your computer but this is just a neat way to do it via wireless.
Also you can load apks from dropbox if you want.

On my sd card i created a folder called kindle...... i put my files in there and the kindle app see's them all. woot

[Q] SD card and GoLauncher question

I'm a new forum member and a relative noob when it comes to all things Android and Tablets and Nook Tablets. I have a an unrooted Nook Tablet and need help with a few things, please.
1: I use GoLauncher as my launcher and I have all my apps in folders on my homke screen, but the folder icons are small. Any way to make them larger?
2: How do you install an app to the sd card. When I download an app it loads into the Nook. Also, how do you install an app from the sd card?
3: When I access my sd card and I long press a folder the only option I get is to delete the file. The Nook manual says that a menu should pop up.
4: Also,I see no "app" folder on my sd card. Where is it?
Thanks for any help as my old brain does not work like it used to. Also, thanks for all the info contributed by everybody that I've already gleaned from this forum.

Since you are not rooted (and neither am I), I will assume you followed instructions to install basic apps like the launcher and a file manager by emailing them to yourself. I will also assume you have installed an sdcard. The file manager will allow you to explore the contents of the card. Find a folder called MyFiles or similar. This is where to pur downloaded apk files.
Use your desktop computer to find and download apk files. Now move the files from your desktop to the Nook. Some folks will plug the Nook into the computer, navigate, and drag and drop from there. Others, like myself, will do it wirelessly via Dropbox, FTP or a simple WiFi client. Search for "WiFi File Transfer apk" to do it this way.
Once the apk is in the Nook, use a file manager to navigate to it, tap on it and the package installer should pop up. Install. If the package manager offers to move the app to the sdcard, do it.
BTW, my "old brain" is 69. Find me on Facebook "Don Birdsall" and I'll help you more.

[Q] Webstorage as a drive in file manager

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to access webstorage straight from the filemanager app on the Prime instead of having to go via MyCloud. It would be convenient if I can just see the webstorage as a drive.
Also, is there an option to automaticly sync files from a certain folder when the device connects? I see the mysyncfolder in the MyCloud app but i can't find this folder in the filemanager.
Thanks
Try file expert.
It has box.net and dropbox.

[Q] Where does Nook Tablet's browser store downloaded files?

Where does the default browser store downloaded apk files? I downloaded a few apk files that refuse to install, so i'd like to move them to my sdcard so i can sideload them using adb. Where would i find the downloaded files?
They're under Library>My Nook>My Files>My Downloads
Hope this helps.
that will not allow you to install your apks, just show you where they are. your best bet is to install "root explorer" and open it and go to the media folder, then my files & finally, my downloads. install your apk from there, or move it to SD. Hope this helps.

Thanks Swiissjokr. Found them using ES File Explorer.
/media/My Files/My Downloads/.
Copied them over to the SD card, and will sideload them from my laptop using adb.
Where the downloads go
After practically pulling my hair out over this same problem, I finally found my downloads by going to my library. First is the Books category, scroll down there are Movies, keep scrolling all the way down through all the categories and the last one is My Files. That is where I find my downloads. Hope this helps. :fingers-crossed:

[Q&A] How to Share Facebook videos w/o Apps

Hi there,
I made a quick search about this, but I wasn't able to find a complete answer.
Just wanted to share how to view/share/save Facebook videos to other apps (i.e. whatsapp).
The reason why I prefer doing this over using an app, is because some "video downloading" apps require you to login inside their app, and for me that doesn't seem safe.
Requirements
Facebook App
Root Explorer (or similar)
Rooted phone
Procedure
Open your Facebook App, and watch completely the video (or wait till it finishes loading).
Use Root Explorer to go to (Bookmarking this makes it much easier):
Code:
data/data/com.facebook.katana/files/video-cache
Arrange the folders according to Date (so the latest date/time is the video you just saw).
Copy the file inside the folder (i.e. 00000000), to a safe folder back in your SD or extSD
Rename the "0000000" file, to whatever name you like and using the extension .mp4 (i.e. video.mp4)
Watch or share the video from root explorer (long-press and share)
Notes
I believe is safe to delete the whole cache folder to work better
I have only used the .mp4 format and it has been effective so far
You can't watch the video inside the Cache folder (at least w/my phone)
Enjoy:fingers-crossed:

Android File Transfer only allows transfer of some files and not others???

Rooted Nexus 6, running the final stock ROM, and TWRP recovery, no problems here.
I have Android File Transfer up and running and it sees my device and I can see the SD/storage folders that AFT allows. No problems here.
I want to transfer a hidden file that you need a root file explorer to find, to my Mac. I have a root file explorer and found the file I want to transfer. I used TWRPs file manager to put it in the "downloads" folder of SDCARD, so I can see it in Android File Transfer. So far so good. No problems here either.
Problem: When I try to drag that file to my desktop, it blocks me and I get an error window saying: "couldn't not replace file" in the top line of and "could not copy file blah blah blah.epub However, when I try to drag other files to from that folder to my desktop, I have no problems. Just these particular ones.
It is a Barnes and Noble Nook e-book file that I dug out of the hidden folders of the app using a root explorer. But something is blocking me from copying it from my phone's SD, downloads folder to my desktop.
Any ideas?
-Peter
