Hi,
I need help on update xrecovery. Currently, I am using 2.5. Now 3.0 is out. I want to update it.
I read the FreeX10 beta 4 page, DO NOT REINSTALL BUSYBOX OR XRECOVERY!
YOU WILL END UP IN ENDLESS FC LOOP (AND BREAK XRECOVERY)!
.......
What should I do?
Thanks,
anyone knows?

frankly if u already have xrecovery v0.2 working u need not install xrecovery 0.3...
but if u still want to then:
Code:
Manual Installation:
- Download the apk, rename it to xrecoveryZIP
- Unpack the file, find ./res/raw folder inside. It should contain 3 files (chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar)
- copy these 3 files into /system/bin using root explorer (remember to remount /system rw

I read the following warning too late. I had installed FreeX10 beta 4 but could not find Xrecovery to install GApps and hence tried to reinstall xrecovery 0.3 using X10 Flash tool. Now my phone goes in the endless FC loop. I don't get radio and i can't use the phone.

I have found *similar* threads but not exactly this : Prior to updating to .435 through SEUS, I was able to use Xrecovery 0.2 to backup my system image. I just tried to backup a new updated image, and I cannot access xrecovery. I know the procedure is to hit the back button repeatedly at the white SE logo, and that worked prior to the update, but now it just continues to boot up the phone into normal mode. I tried to reinstall xrecovery with the Xrecovery APK already i the app drawer, but no dice. The backup files I already created are still in /sd/xrecovery/backup. I saw them through root explorer. If this question has already been asked, I am sorry. I did do a search
I am rooted with SuperoneClick. Titanium Backup, Busybox & Superuser all verified working.
Thanks all!
Try the newest xrecovery.

I tried installing 0.3, got the msg "install failed". Think I need to delete v 0.2? I was afraid to do that as I assumed it would take my old backup (pre-.435) with it.
Thanks for the reply.
same here, root explorer is set on RW, titanium is working, busybox installed, but i get the red signs when i try to install xrecovery 0.3

At last I managed to install xrecovery v3 manually instead of automatically. I hope this help.

I flashed custom ROM to get 2.1.A.0.435 update and xRecovery is installed(.3) so I recommend that.
I tried both the manual file copy way and the auto install from the APK. identical result from both.. no xrecovery on reboot. I did get a suggestion to try to actually flash xrecovery using the new flashtool .026, which includes an option to install busybox/xrecovery. I will try that as soon as soon my phone charges back up and post the result.
Thanks everyone!
use THIS tool.

Reinstall from flashtool again
Update : reinstalled xrecovery .03 files manually= WORKED!!
Thanks for all the help, tips & advice!!! Got it going. Manual file copy works w build .435! Just need to copy the files from Android/data/ directory on your SD card into system/bin with root explorer on your phone . I had tried repeatedly copying the 3 files from the /res/raw folder from my pc to the phone but it never worked.
Thanks again all.
I want to know if there is any other way to flash a cusom ROM, like Froyo or Gingerbread without using xRecovery, because I can't boot into recovery.
Tried to install xRecovery using the app, but it doesn't let me install it. Tried the manual way, I've put the 3 files in System/Bin and it still does not boot into recovery.
I have a 1.6 firmware and I can't install official 2.1 because it gives me an error when I try to install it via PC Companion and when I try to flash a firmware using FlashTool, my phone won't boot. The only firmware I can flash is from ROOT_F3V3 so that my phone can boot.
I have no Repair button in SEUS, it just sais that there is no software update for my phone and the only choice I have is Finish. This happens for no matter what firmware I install.
Can you help me please?

You don't have to put those 3 files in system/bin.Just find system/bin with your Root Explore, check on all 9 permissions of this folder and then go to the XR app and install it.If you still can't boot into XR after installation, maybe you should try Xrecovery 0.0.1.version.It always works for those people who can't boot into XR just like you.Good luck.Sorry for my bad English.
Hmmm...sorry i couldnt be more help...the only thing i could possibly think of is flashing a new basebrand AND firmware at once...hopefully you get this issue resolved later. Best of luck

Easy, search for the file on this forum (cwmr3 for xrecovery.zip) and install the zip file after rebooting into xrecovery. Have you got xrecovery working now?

I must admit am i not an expert, but why don't you just go back to default Rom via SEUS and then follow the steps to install xrecovery via AAIS+CWM? I am certain this will work.
Use mini rom manager no need to be in xrec to install just dl and find it (cwm) install

I guess your x recovery is not properly installed.
I had the same problem first.
This is what I did (since 2.3 cannot root as easy as 2.1)
1. Download the latest flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746)
2. Download the 2.1 firmware from here (http://www.mediafire.com/?sqv6274anzfzn2x)
3. Now place the .ftf file in the firmware folder in flashtool and flash it and phone will be 2.1
4. Now root the phone and install x reovery
5. Reboot and check if recovery is properly working
6. Now do a fresh install of your favorite 2.3 ROM and enjoy !
Hope this helps...

Just google it, download and install.
open it, connect phone, click on start in support zone, click on update.
If it says your phone is uptodate there is an option to install anyway (This repairs your phone to stock 2.3)
