I'm sorry for posting this topic, but I got something to clarify, just a few days ago, i was at work surfing the net with my iTouch through my X10's barnacle tethering... i came across a forum and the thread starter mentioned that he modified he's phone after root to allow the phone to be louder than it was for calls, also he talked about SetCPU and others, he dint specify how he amplified he's speakers though and I'm sorry to say that i forgot the link, if there's anyone out there who knows how, please help? It gets irritating when u cant hear your caller...
God I hope so!!!!!
+1
God I hope so!
Actually, I don't have that problem When Im in the street Im always with the headphones on, when I have an incoming call I just use the micro and the phones...
And at home I can listen to my callers perfectly, I can even listen to my girlfriend very fine and she has a low voice tone.
Not much help here but... are you talking about the speaker transplant from an HTC desire into the Xperia X10? I can't find the specific thread but the poster said it was much louder; and I'm sure you wouldn't require root to do this. Nonetheless, it may be an option.

Hey all! I'm so glad i found this community it looks awesome! I'm new here and to the HTC hero G2 AND to the droid OS for that matter so i will have some pretty noobish questions , i will try to make it easy and list them in order so if you could please respond that way it would make it a lot easier on this noob as well
I am in the USA so i don't know if that will make a difference but i see a lot of other countries names in updates.
1. My device is the G2 obviously and its unlocked and i use my local carrier Cincinnati Bell and i'm pretty sure my phone is stock everything as far as firmware and what not. I still have 1.5 and i'm seeing people talk about 2.1, some say a message will automatically appear for the update but will it work since i'm not on T Mobile? if not how do i go about getting this?
2. What other types of software are there you recommend every G2 should have or that i can update to my phone to make it better, faster and just all around great, how would i go about doing this?
3. i've noticed when i go to albums for some reason there are 5 different albums just for my pictures which were all already on my sd card, and on my old phone were all just under the same album. The same for videos too there is 3 different ones for those too. Why are they all being seperated and how do i just make one entire album for all photos and one for videos? i've plugged the USB into my computer and opened my sd card and have seen the folders for all my music and photos so could when i add particular artists music on just create my own folder and put each artists music in their own folder? would it show up like that on my music player as being seperate? and could i do the same for pictures?
I realize i have quite a decent amount of questions and i apologize but i am new to the G2 and Droid in general as i've stated and i love the experience so far and i want to gain as much knowledge as possible so big thanks to anyone who helps me!
THANKS!!!

What exactly did you think it was? This is a developer community.. not a help desk.
I myself am not a developer.. I have a very small and limited amount of knowledge regards android.
I come here because I pick things up.. and occasionally when I have a problem I ask a question BUT only in the hope that the great and the good of this community feel like they have time to answer it.
Sure I wish I could be more welcoming to you.. I really do hope your problem gets solved.
Just dont expect it to get handed to you.. for example.. most of your questions can be answered in the hero wiki.. which is one quick search away from discovery.
Your initial question was polite and well formed.. however to follow it up with that statement just shows that you were being very disingenuous.
Again.. I hope someone takes the time to answer your several questions.

I've searched for forums for the Hero G2 and this is one of the only ones with activity i found. So i signed up, yes i know this is a development forum but if someone has the knowledge to develop for such a phone then it became common sense to me they would know answers to the questions i had. I did not mean to seem "disingenuous", its from the fact of taking a post like my last to get a response is why i did so. I wish someone from the first few views could of either 1. Helped me or 2. Said what you said and suggested somewhere or something else to help.
I don't mean to sound like an ass, just would really like help so it would be GREATLY appreciated if someone tried at least :-/
Ok i'll use my first post as an attempt to be useful, if only because i've read a whole lot from here and as yet written nowt
Now, first things first, being in the states do you have the G2 gsm hero, the one with the chin, or the US cdma sprint version? Makes a big difference if you want to do rooting.
Information searching for the hero doesn't have to come from active forums, many were hugely active when the phone first arrived and may not be so now, but much of the content is just as useful/relevant as it was then.
Oh, and i'm neither a dev, or a programmer or a techy phone expert, pc expert or any other expert come to that, just a hero owner that started much like you. Knowing nothing
Regarding the official 2.1 update, have no idea how it might arrive at your device, or mine as i'm not interested. Mine is rooted 1.5 with modaco 3.2 and it works just fine (and stable/reliable) for me, and does pretty much all i need it to do. The only exception being maybe bluetooth transfer.
When i got my hero it was the latest all singing, all dancing device that shamed most if not all other smartphones, eventually rooting it made it better, and unless i get to upgrade it every 6 months to me that's the way it'll stay.
I might go for a custom 2.1 rom at some point, be warned the official upgrade removes that possibility for the future, and even if you don't think you'll want to now, you may well change your mind once you've had the phone a while
How are the files stored on your sd card now? Separate folders are displayed separately. Contacts, downloads, camera shots etc I guess you could put them all in one folder but the album has an "all pictures" option anyway so why bother.
All my albums are stored in folders, with artwork, and just drag and drop into the music or mp3, can't recall what it's called right now, folder and display as whole albums in the player. If i want to create a folder just for one artists tracks then again it will display that "album" separately.
Works fine for me as i'm a whole album person rather than using playlists.
Any combination is possible, trial and error and personal preference time, but you wont break anything by trying.
Finally, have google work for you, or you tube, there's a heap of good stuff around, and more applications than my failing keyboard can mention hence rooting and apps2sd has unlimited my app count. No more worrying whether i can fit in that latest market find or what i have to delete first.
new batteries time before i launch this keyboard.....
Thank you! for someone trying to help... i'll soak all that in kind person, and i have the one with the chin
Seasoned Samsung Vibrant users,
I just got today Sept 30th my Samsung Vibrant, I hope that this GPS problem that I have it's just SOFTWARE and not HARDWARE problem and you may tell me with your experience / suggestions what this is about.
Before the Samsung Vibrant, I was using a HTC Mytouch 3g slide, the GPS on my slide has been very accurate, what I can tell you is that from my bedroom My slide detects properly my home address using Google maps, with Samsung Vibrant usually gives me an innacurate location using Google Maps as well.
I have turned ON the wireless and the GPS on Samsung Vibrant as I did the same with my htc slide and on Samsung Vibrant gives me around 40 to 50 meters difference with a wrong location,
I don't want to use WIFI because it’s not the case, why on my HTC Mytouch 3g slide I don't need WIFI also I won’t have WIFI everywhere where I go, so I want that the Samsung vibrant works at least the same or better than a HTC phone GPS hardware.
so my question Is that a hardware problem or software issue?
My HTC Mytouch 3g slide never fails where I'm in my bedroom or other place where I go and test it and this Samsung is getting me out of my nerves that isn't accurate at all.
HARDWARE or SOFTWARE problem?
If it is software I will wait, but if it is hardware, I’ll be very disappointed.
Thanks I really appreciate your answer about this issue,
I have 14 days to test it and if I'm not happy with it I can return it depending what this problem is.
OMG please use the search function.
It IS a software issue... vibrant is well knows for its gps to be messed up.. the new 2.2 is coming out in approx a month and it will have a gps fix and also make ur phone faster plus alot of other things

I have been trying to refrain from jumping on people for stupid posts, BUT ...
The gps issue has been an issue with the Vibrant since day one, and there are most likely hundreds of threads on it already ....
I know it is a little scary but that search box does not bite ...
Hell a google search of "Samsung Vibrant GPS" should tell you all you need to know ..
Come on people use some common sense and search first, at least pretend to search for the sanity of the rest of us ...

Oh no, my Vibrant might be messed up????
Really??
Welcome to the real world!
Been bad since day one.
Wow, everyone is being kinda douchy here. All you have to do is root your phone with one of the many methods, install clockwork recovery and flash either the JI2 GPS fix or this one which is the same thing but uses the JI5 files instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796654 Good luck.

No i agree with you. I dont think I ever post questions here. I usually use my friend google and figure it out myself HOWEVER I also remember when i first got my very first android phone "G1" and was soooo lost at where to even begin. To the OP... they are right, you can find most anything by searching. I guess I only said that because some people just get plain rude. Not necessarily talking about you watcher64. Your post wasnt bad, just didn't really give any answer.

No offense taken , I just remember the old days of the forum, where this was a place to come learn, not to have the answers handed to you.
Seems everyone is looking for the quick fix these days, and really do not want to learn what they are doing or HOW it is actually done, then yell and scream at the people who help them that they broke their phone ...
EDIT:
Just to clarify I was on here almost 2 years before I asked more than a handful of questions, because 99% of the answers could be found by reading and searching, so it does get annoying that so many people want spoon fed these days.
It took you longer to write about your problems than it takes to search .

Like all the other supposed GPS fixes out there, these don't necessarily work either.

If none work, then may be time to exchange the phone for a new one ...

There is a big difference between not knowing, and "NOT EVEN TRYING", that is the biggest complaint ...
How do you think most of us here got the knowledge we do have, we looked it up, if you work a little for something, you will tend to remember it in the future...
This is a place for Development, and Education , not hand outs, never has been, and should never be taken as so ....
But I digress, you are right why should anybody here give a damn ....
OH because if nobody gave a damn, the people that get ask the questions would not know the answer either ....
No you speak the truth ppl should research, I had an off day when I posted sry if I sounded like a jerk. I do plenty of research on my own b4 doing anything to my phone, and if I brick it I have no one else to blame but myself. For example I have been researching the whole flashing with odin on my spare time, which isn't much still haven't got comfortable enough to try though. I just felt like the guy was getting slapped around a bit too much that's all.

One of the Dev's on here pointed me in this direction. Been testing program after program and all seem to use the mic to record the other side of the call. In other words, I have to use the speakerphone for it to work. Does anyone have a solution that will work on EVO 4G?
I was recently using a Collective Rom that had a built in call recorder app. I didn't need to use the speakerphone, and it recorded very well. I'm using a MT4G though...
I believe it was called Collective Absolution. It was ported onto my phone though so look around, maybe they have it for yours. Check and see the Collective roms for your phone. I remember I installed it through the Collective phone settings(their version of the CM9 settings).
Hope I helped.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I've read a few downer threads that talk about HTC phones having problems with this type of application. I don't know if it's still the same now but several threads indicated that HTC doesn't allow their API CPU talk to the Modem CPU (I think that's how it was put...I may be wrong). Anyway...I don't know. I've also seen some people report that the capability was built into some ROM's out there. If what I read was correct, I don't think any particular ROM will be able to solve the issue because of the type of phone I have. Tell me if I'm wrong.
Hmm I'm not sure. From my experience the main problem, at least on my phone, was always that the recording didn't always record both sides. Some people's phones recorded everything perfectly as they spoke, but some others had a problem where it would only record one side of the conversation, either them speaking or the other person but not both. I don't remember any of the technical problems about why that was the case though, this was a few months back.
I'll see if I can extract the apk that rom installed for me and post it here for you. I'm not sure if it's going to install and work immediately on your phone or if you'll have to do something with it to get it working, but it's worth a shot.
Update: Here's the link to the apk.

Nope. Didn't pick up the other side if the conversation. I could only hear myself talking. Very frustrating. You would think this wouldn't be a big deal to do. Any other suggestions?

If anything you can always take that apk I gave you and post it in your phone's forum and see if it works for anyone else there. Maybe someone there can find some way to make it work for you.

The HOX+ has a definitive problem with the Bluetooth output on phone calls. The output gain is way too high. It causes all incoming audio to be distorted and over modulated. I don't believe it is a hardware issue, but a software issue. Is there any way to go into the software and fix that by changing some value? It would seem doable.
Please, somebody fix this. Who knows when HTC will fix it, and it makes my phone useless in my car. BTW, I have tried other HOX+ phones, and they all do it. It's not my car either... Be a hero !
it has nothing to do with Android development. wrong section.

You be a Hero and post in the correct section. This is not a development thread... This is a known issue however, there are already a FEW threads concerning this. Did you search or browse the other sections at all? Pretty sure there is a thread in Q&A and in General.
Edit.. You posted this exact thread in general 10 minutes before this one.. Did you not get your answer in 10 minutes so you decided to post in another section?

Look, I was just trying to draw more attention to it. No need to be sarcastic about it. I know you guys are really talented, and I do believe it will be resolved by one of you if you try.. Personally, I think it's a more worthy task than debloating a stock rom. Maybe I was a little impatient. I apologize for double posting.

Thats just it, I dont think anyone else has this issue. Turn off beats if it is on and turn the volume on the blue tooth down
I saw several multi page posts that were started in November regarding the issue, and they all ended unresolved. I have turned the Bluetooth volume down, Beats is off, but it does not seem to effect the call volume at all. I have tried it on several cars, and several other HOX+ phones and had the same results. These forums have been fantastic over the years, and hope I haven't offended anyone posting in the wrong forum.

So instead of posting in them and compiling the concerns in one place you made two new posts in different forums (one of which is wrong) about the same issue. I have blue tooth in my car and it works fine. I am on Elegancia. Maybe try it. Otherwise return the phone and get a different one.

Ya, I'm a terrible person.:silly: Thanks for your advice though.. I will take it.
Music = no problem. Phone calls = crap. A few people said when they use a particular BT model that it worked correctly, a blue ant or something. all others volume is WAY to loud, enough to damage eardrum. I tried with 4 different BT headsets and in my car and they were all way to loud. Tried all 4 of the roms out fot ATT also, still did not help. I quit even trying to talk. My BT is put away till fixed. I know there is an issue, and its a big one, but this is still the wrong section. Lets take the discussion to the proper thread..
Why do people keep bumping this thread? It needs to be reported so it can be closed.

Well, it seems to be a common issue, and why wouldn't it be in the developers section? Don't you gentlemen fix issues like this? Isn't it most likely to get more attention here? Nobody has even responded to it in 'general'. I mean, what constitutes an issue big enough to be addressed by this forum? How is posting this here hurting anything? Sorry, I don't mean to be difficult...
No body is supposed to fix this. It has no replies because there is no solution. Hell it has not even been agreed that it is really a problem. The development section is for development such as roms etc, NOT for people complaining they don't like the way the phone works. If its that big of an issue buy a different phone. May I suggest an iPhone. Developers who acknowledge it as an issue have no solution. Please READ what the sections are for before posting in them. If there is a thread already like there is in this case read it and add to it. You may not mean to be difficult but you continue to be.

I think you are way too uptight. Is it the norm for so many of you to be so smug, and so self important? "Get an Iphone" That's just a stupid thing to say. How about you chill out a little buddy. Some of you act like your turds come out in plastic bags. Really man.. You aren't working on a cure for cancer.
It is a problem with the phone, and I had a respected developer tell me nicely, that it was a kernel issue and it would be resolved.
Hey guys, so I just got my Z Ultra C8633, and so far so great, however I have only one concern and that's the volume when talking on speaker phone does not go loud enough and its pretty annoying considering its a such a big device.
I have played with all the sound settings and it only makes a little difference with music, not actually talking to someone on the speaker phone.
Is there anything else I can do, or get some kind of software to boost the volume.
Appreciate any feedback...
have a look in the mod section, I think there has been a couple of mixerpath.xmp fixes - you will have to root though
I flashed this, and it is good...great.

I am looking for a good free App in the Google store someone can recommend, because there is no way I am rooting my phone. Quite frankly I don't know how people can mess with their phones like that unless they are professionals or just doing it on older phones they don't care about.

Because in most cases when something does go wrong it's easy to revert back to stock? And perhaps because people are naturally curious and not everyone is like you? Or perhaps they just want to get more out of their devices. Rooting is the root of xda.
Please forgive me resurrecting this older thread, but I am also interested in a nonroote app to help increase the volume. I am more than willing to root, but it looks like I am out of luck. I recently purchased the Z Ultra GPE already upgraded to 5.0 Lollipop (upgraded before I received it via ebay seller). I don't think it's possible for me to root at this point, so I have been looking around for a volume mod or app that does not require root. Any out there that actually work?
