Removin timescape in new firmware goes back tot he issue of facebook contact sync etc not working also when removing mediascape it doesnt allow propper image/video viewing fromm witin camera app [doesnt link to gallery3d] We got any fixes yet?
appears facebook is syncing contacts just camera/mediascape link
removing mediascape is not advisable... from wht i read in the forums it is tightly linked in the SE rom so other features like saving from camera, wallpaper selection at main screen do not work properly...
Just freeze Timescape with Titanium Backup. Did the trick for me, Phone reacts lot faster and more free memory
Try just pictures for your images and Facebook images

Hello!
After the 2.1 update, we all noticed that even if we assign a high-resolution photo as contact picture, while on call still looks ugly.
After messing with the phone, I found that if we link Timescape Facebook contacts to the phone contacts and select to use Timescape Facebook as the contact picture, the pictures looks OK while on call.
Only problem is, third party apps cannot use those pictures, as they are restricted to Timescape and Phonebook. So, in chompSMS for example, pictures don't appear. They don't even appear on the SE Recent Calls Widget.
Is there any work around for this?
I also tried the Photo Unlocker (from Market) but didn't work.

They're bad if you use the default Facebook app for the contact photo. If you change them to use timescape Facebook for the photos they look significantly better.

Yes, I know...
Only I was actually asking about a way to un-restrict those contact photos in order for 3rd party application to use them too.
There is a workaround for pictures taken from the Facebook application,
but not for the Timescape Facebook application.
Some dev should help us out! That's the point of this thread.
EDIT: I change the title, as it was indeed misleading!! lol!
Sorry, missed that. I haven't found any work arounds for it sorry. Though I've also found that using photos that you have stored on your sd card yields some nice results. They just won't update with Facebook.

Posted this incorrectly. Sorry Bout that.
hi guys I managed to root my x10 2.1 with z4root and use titanium to freeze timescape and other crap.
before with 1.6 it stopped my phone book from working. but now its fine without the bloat crap running. but what it has done its stopped my contacts from linking automatically to Facebook.
to get their pictures up I have to manually set it in the contacts edit menu then their pic comes up.
anyone found a way of a work around so the se apps stop depending on timecrap?
could do with a 3 party camera operator all in all. don't evenl like mediascape. keyboard is ****, I'm is h the HTC keyboard hack, are their any updates on the sweet keyboard as it sometimes goes crazy and keeps the button pressed.
thanks for reading this is my first post and I have to say I have been following, and what a bad ass community!

I have the same question, is timescape the only way to integrate pictures into the phonebook?
download the facebook apk from the market... it allows to synchronize the phonebook with facebook contacts...
yeah I did that good idea.
but I had to import all the contacts.
there isn't away to link your contacts manually straight to the phone book. so I now have alot of contacts that I don't want.
I wish we could import our selected friends list from Facebook instead of all its contacts.
so what I've done is put all my contacts that I use that I have numbers for into my favorite list. but I wish I could create a shortcut straight to favorite list rather than phone book.
one thing I'm interested to find out is that if I remove my Facebook contacts will the linked numbers keep their link with Facebook on the original phone entries.....
to scared in case it doesn't work otherwise it took to long to link and it would of been a waste of time.

Sadly, to do what you want you will need timescape

well some good news I re set Facebook app to sync only my contacts. now it removed all the Facebook entries and left my originals intact with links to their Facebook.

Is the blurry image display problem for incoming and outgoing calls fixed? I know the image doesn't look blurry if the contact has facebook account. But that image looks stretched hence looks ugly. Plus only few of my friends have FB account. Still I prefer to assign my own collection of photos to my contacts. In 1.6, the image displayed in great resolution.
I read about SE Sync solution but when I set up SE Sync account my Google contacts don't get sync'd from phone to SE website where I thought I can update the images. I have to create new contact on SE website and add image there. So, I basically end up with duplicate contacts grouped as SE Sync and Google Contacts which is a pain to maintain as I prefer to stick with Google Sync. But, even that solution has the same problem as with Facebook image problem which looks stretched from top to bottom.
I know about some apps that display high resolution images for calls but SE style is very cool. That feature worked so flawlessly in 1.6 and is such a basic and most visible feature. I guess SE developers and QA time completely missed as they probably used SE sync, Facebook, or never cared about using images for contacts.
the blurry images are an android problem, not SE
all devices are suffering from it:

How come pictures updated with Sony Ericsson Sync on http://www.sonyericsson.com/user or Facebook don't have problem except for the aspect ratio issue?
Presumably because it's not using the google sync app.

Even if you don't use Google Sync, if you just create a new contact on phone and assign a image to it, we see the same issue.
Anyone know which folder has the images that get displayed when we make a call? Maybe replacing those files with higher resolution photos will solve this issue.
use the timescape pic, it's fine. when you create a contact, it syncs to your google account. once it's sync'd, it will be blurry. if this was an SE issue, you would not see this issue on EVERY 2.1+ HDPI device.

I am amazed reading about use timescape pic. First, I am talking about contacts who don't have Facebook or Twitter accounts. They don't show up with Timescape pic for my firmware version and I believe it must be the same for all. Second, even if you use the Timescape pic the person in the picture looks thin and tall as the picture aspect ration is stretched at the top and bottom. AND I am talking about the display of picture while the we are on call with the contact AND NOT when you view Info screen of the contact.
I ripped out Mediascape as i use other apps.
recently i found ou Mediascape solves the blurry picture problem.
I re-installed Mediascape and Mediascape plugin, gave correct permissions, and rebooted.
Mediascape is there, it opens, i can apply pics to contacts, but if i go into the app, and clock on a song or a image, it doesn't open?
Have i removed something else that is related to Mediascape and why it wont open images/pic/vids?
what firmware are you using? what build? if you're using 435 you need three files for mediascape to work I believe, mediascape, mediascapepluginmanager, and semcmediaplayer.
reinstall everything with media in the name LOL
Hi everyone,
Got a little prob if you guys can help.Namely when i recieve or send calls the contact pic (either from Google or FB sync) are really pixelated ,because they're low resolution, how can i force them to be bigger?
P.s. i've alredy tried alternate dialer apps and am not satisfied with them, nor do i wish to use a 3rd party app.

Im actually looking for the same thing... but do allow me to ask the question in my manner.
Currently, on ICS, each time we manually set the contact pics, the reso turns pretty good. It stays that way UNTIL i flashed/wiped everything and restore from google. Where the picture seems to be resized and presented in a horribly pixelated image.
Question is, is there any way that i can alter my google account so that it saves the high reso contact images? i know of some backup programs that does this, but its pretty annoying sometimes that google auto restores my contacts and the stock contact app on ICS has very limited feature in batch management of contacts. Also, i prefer stock phone because by far, its much more speedy than most 3rd party phone apps. Its a pretty annoying process to just install another manager and re-edit each time i flash.
Google wont provide u with high resolution pics... the reason is that there are some phones that have ~50-100mb free internel phone Memory by default...
If they Sync High resolution pics then those who have thousands of contacts will have no internal memory left as Contacts+pics would consume all of space...
Ah that explains it...
But is there a way to cache the images from the google acc in my phone?
P.s. i found a somewhat solution,an alternate FB app calles Friendcaster that has the option to sync High res.pics,i say somewhat, because it works for some pics and not for others :-/
Snt via Desire @ CM9
ive been using friendcaster for awhile, one of the best FB replacement app and does things way better than stock FB app. One of the worth-going-pro on my list.
Then again, not all of the contacts are in FB...
Picture resolution fixed!
Check this out - http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...c-updates-web-contact-sync-with-brand-new-ui/
It seemed to be fixed for JB. I haven't tried it though!
BTW I was using FB Contact Sync app from play store and it worked super well when I was on CM 9.1. But now I have moved to another ICS ROM and lost all the pics and the low-res pics got synced
