Hi,
I tried to flash it from the KDZ software but it left the phone in emergency mode. I tried taking the battery out but no luck.
Please help.
Do you still have the custom recovery?

I'm not sure about, but if you failed in flashing, it's better don't turn phone off (removing battery). It can happen that it will never boot up! Just try flash it again with some other modes (recovery should be right, but some people say, that also another type of communication worked).
Same thing happened for me. PC was not detecting the phone. Then I removed battery and plugged data cable, then came to normal

If you don't started flashing in emergency mode yet, than yes, you can restart it as you want, but if you already started flash some data in recovery mode and it fails, it will be definitely better to try do that again without turning off, because there is high possibility of braking of device.
Boots straight into emergency Mode
Hi guys, I tried to update the phone using the LG Mobile Update and for some unknown reason it was stuck at 4% and the update process interrupted itself. The phone had emergency Mode in it, I removed the battery, placed it back the phone turned on fine, checked out the version and it was on 2.2.1 (the version I had, didn't update).
I decided to retry (stupid decision) and the same thing happened except that now. I remove the battery and it goes straight into Emergency Mode. Tried updating through the KDZ Tool and it does not recognize the phone, there doesn't seem to be a "Handshake" between the PC and the Phone.
Is there anyway that maybe I can force the Phone to mount (on a Linux Box maybe) and use some other Tool to flash it?? Or did I just turn my phone into Paperweight?.
BTW, this is my girlfriend's phone and I kind of got her into giving me her phone to update it, so yeah... I feel like **** for doing this.
Forgot to mention,
Tried:
Removing the battery for a while (15 min +)
Turning on the phone while holding "Home + Volume Down" and "Home + Volume Down + Search"
Thanks in advance.

so i bricked my vibrant yesterday. i was running macnut r12 and i tried to flash one of my backup roms. since then my phone gets stuck at the galaxy s gt-i9000 screen. i've searched all day for a solution and nothing has worked.
none of the button combinations i read to boot in recovery or download mode has worked. odin sometimes does detect the phone as com3, but that's as far as i can get it.
is the phone pretty much dead? any help would be great. thanks!
I had the same problem when I tried to downgrade from a 2.2 ROM, to a 2.1 ROM. give this thread a read, and you should be able to fix it in under five min.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732458
I did the same yesterday.
My fix was to remove the battery, re-insert, immediately go into download mode, do not try to boot. Then use odin to put on a stock ROM.
Worked for me.
FYI, this anso allowed me to get into clockwork, but I could not successfully recover anything using it.

You're phone's fine...last week mine got to the point where I couldn't get it to do anything at all (caused by my first attempt to use odin...ironic, huh? haha). It was my first brick, so I was sweating bullets.
You need to get into download mode...once there you'll be good. Here's the thread that saved me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9370249#post9370249. I had to pull everything (sim, sd, battery), plug in the usb, hold both volume rockers, then reinsert battery. Presto...dl mode.
And it might matter what version of odin you're using. Version 1.0 is what bricked my phone b/c it froze part way through a restore. I downloaded v1.3 and it worked flawlessly.
thanks for the reply everyone. i've tried getting the phone to boot in dl mode, but nothing seems to work. i've tried pulling out the battery, sim, and sd, holding both vol. buttons and plugging in the usb and all i get is the charge screen.
another question i had is when i plug my phone into my computer should the computer still detect the phone even at the state its in?
Mine didn't. But I also was able to do what the previous post said.
Remember you have to have both volume buttons pressed while you put the battery in. not after.

Sometimes my I5500 won't turn on.
This has already happened 2 times (with two different firmwares I5500XWJPL and I5503TTLPJP9). The phone shows absolutely no signs of life - screen is black, no sounds, nothing.
I tried everything: pressing VolumeDown+Center+Power, VolumeDown+Home+Power, with or without battery/SIM/charger/SD. Tried removing battery for 30 minutes, charging battery in external charger.
Sometimes when charger is connected, it shows green battery on the screen, but still won't boot.
Last times I spent several hours fiddling with it until it finally turned on..
Can someone tell my if there is a fast way to revive the phone next time this happens?
Maybe your arm11boot is damaged, but still partly working. You need replace that partition. I saw arm11boot partition image in one Russian FW. I can't remember actual name. You can try that, but caution. You might brick your phone compleatly!
sorry for reviving this thread.
but I got the same problem now. Tried to use ROM Manager to install CWM Recovery (following a blogpost explaining how to install a Custom ROM on the SG5). Might have accidentally clicked a different CWM Rec. version than I thought I did. However, ROM manager showed a message, telling me that CWMR was installed correctly.
So I wanted to boot into CWMR up to flash my device with the latest CyanogenMod 7 port from MADTeam. Used the "boot into recovery" option from ROM manager for that purpose. The next thing I know is my phone not reacting to anything.
Tried all methods mentioned afore (Vol- + Home + Power / Vol- + Center + Power, with/w.o. SD card and/or battery inserted). Screen keeps being off, no sign of life, phone wont even do anything when plugged to my PC or a charger.
The phone has been rooted properly before and was running Stock 2.1. Houston, we've got a problem.

Take your battery out, put it back in and turn your phone on, then it will boot up into recovery mode. I also have this problem from time to time, sometimes it boots into recovery, sometimes not and i have to remove/replace the battery.
I actually thought that this might be a useful feature for say - if you wanted to upgrade a friends phone to cyanogenmod in the pub, for example.
did try that. now even had the battery removed for about an hour. put it back in. still no reaction on pressing the power button or one of the combinations that should put it into recovery or download mode. no sign of life when plugging the phone to my computer or the charger.
I do fear the worst, though I dont know how ROM manager was actually able to brick the phone that badly.

In that case then this also happened to me - While exploring the rom manager application after first ever flashing my phone i accidentally selected the wrong phone model from the 'flash clockworkmod recovery' option and my phone was gone forever. Perhaps your problem is similar.
(Luckily it was under warranty and they replaced it. The method worked so well in fact it happened 'accidentally' a second time i acquired a 3rd i5500 out of the box )
bought mine already used, so no chance for a warranty replacement :/
gonna give it a shot with a usb jig now, maybe i can get the thing into d/l mode with that, so I can revive it with odin.

what about the Emergency DLoad Mode, which is not the Download Mode? Did you try it?
{ brvsn ~ CM7 on GT-I5500 ~ Tapatalk }
how do I access emergency d/l mode?
UPDATE
I actually CAN get download mode (or what I assume it to be) running by pressing Vol- + Menu + Power (while Vol- + Home + Power wont do anything, nor does the USB jig that arrived today). Took me some time to discover this, as this doesnt seem to be the usual 3-button-combination used. BUT: while the phone is now recognized by my PC, it wont show anything on the screen.
Odin (tried 4.28 and 4.43 on both win7 x64 and x32 and everyting related to Kies shut down) does now detect my phone. However, it always gets stuck at "Setup Connection" when I try to flash the stock rom or CWMR. Tried different approaches (from starting DL-mode with the phone being connected to my PC to separately starting DL mode and then connecting, starting it up with the battery already being in place, starting it up with sliding the battery in place while holding the 3 buttons etc.), none of them gets me further so far.
Another hint I found was setting the Baud-rate of the Samsung mobile modem to 203400, but this, unfortunately, didnt change anything.
Anyone got a lead on how to get Odin finally started properly?

If you can get it into Download or Recovery mode, then you should be fine.

download mode is Vol - / Central Button / Power..
Im aware of that. However, Vol- + Menu + Power is the only key combination that the phone will react upon.
Anyway. Brought it to a mobile phone shop on friday, called them on monday and according to them, the phone should be fixed by tomorrow, wednesday. Seems like ROM manager has done damage that cant be undone without knowing how to handle a JTAG device. But at least its not completely broken. Learning that will cost me 25 Euros, though.
One final update to this: Got the phone back today, they were indeed able to fix it.
Conclusion:
While installing a non-fitting CWM-Recovery through ROM Manager will make your Galaxy 5 unfixable via Odin, it still can be saved by making proper use of a JTAG.

Let me prefice this by saying that my son doesn't know how to flash files, know what super user is, or know how to do much on his phone at all other than watch youtube and text.
He is running either official CM7-RC2 or RC3 for his P500, installing Link2SD and linking a few games is the only tweak I did.
He says it just started boot looping in the morning after charging all night.
My son was complaining his P500 was not starting, I figured it was a very low battery which ended up in a boot loop pattern. The next morning he said he charged it all night and it still wasn't working. Now I knew something was not right.
I pulled the battery, tried to offline charge it, gets stuck at lg logo. Tried to boot with no battery, just the usb plugged in, same bootloop.
Tried to boot into CWM by holding vol up/home and this screen somes up!
Now every time I turn on the phone I'm greeted with this Blue Error Handler message.

You can download it from here

LGMDP doesn't connect to the phone, it waits at the select port screen. The drivers are installed since LGMDP can see my other P500s.
*edit* I was just thinking, I haven't tried connecting my other phones in emergency mode. Perhaps it is the drivers.

I wish I could get recovery going, but it always just hangs and the first lg logo if I hold any buttons down during boot. The only way I can get emerg mode going is to wait for the Blue Error Handler message to come up then hold vol down and back.
Once my phone got bricked and yes nothing detected my phone in emergency mode...so I just kept my phone turned off and plugged in and started doing what the thread said...then it automatically detected my phone and my phone's problem was solved
Please do it at ur own risk...I wont hold any responsibilty.

Mind if I ask how long have ur son been using this phone? To me, it looks like it is due to age. Well that is how I see it.
a cheap trick
This is what i tried on some other phone with similar situation...
use KDZ updater....to update v20g
put to emergency...
start the update (even if the phone is detected or not)
it may or may not install the rom correctly ......but after that LGMDP will start detecting your phone..

hi guys, I think my P768 is bricked = '(
he was V10A, I installed v20a on it, I installed the root and cwm. then I flashed back V10A accidentally and now the device is stuck in the recovery screen. The lg updater tool does not recognize it in recovery and when I do power + vol up it also does not work (because of jb i think it) ... I also did hard reset several times, it reboots back to recovery screen, and the flash still doesnt working...
I'm desperate, what do I do?
Edit;nevermind what I wrote before.
Turn off your phone, remove the battery, while holding vol+ &power plug usb cable to the computer, you'll see sw mode, put the battery back in ...
Use original LG tool(lg pc suite). Make sure your hosts file is clean
thanks for the help, but i tried and the tool said "problem with communication between cell phone and pc"... i'm sure that all drivers are installed
sorry for my bad english =/
====
well, i did it and at 15% of analisys the tool said "the usb cable and your cellphone are not connected... please connect and press restart" =/ (i used pc suite also, it didn't recognized anything)
=====
after losing a few hours of sleep worked perfectly in the online tool ... I almost cried with emotion lol, thanks for the Force!!
I have exact issue with 15%. How you sorted it out?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
well, remove the exceptions for lg in hosts file, after this restart the pc...
after this power off the phone and connect pressing vol up for s/w upgrade mode. open LGMOBILE SUPPORT TOOL (the same as previously), above the screen click in custtomer support or options, i dont remenber, and look for something similar to emergency flash... after this follow the screens, is simillar to offline flash
After an unsuccessful CWM flashing attempt, my phone it getting the infamous "SECURITY ERROR" message. Now, I tried the offline KDZ method, but like many other JB users, the flashing got stuck at 15%. So, finally I decided to use the online flashing method using the new LG Support Tool. But the sad part is that I am suffering from a low battery issue.
So, does anyone know how to charge a soft bricked Optimus L9?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
I'm just guessing but you could try removing battery for 15-20 sec then inserting it and connecting your phone to charger. If that doesn't work, try installing x and u using fastboot that try same process with removing battery...
You can always use another phone to charge your battery

I tried the fastboot method too, but I face a problem while doing it. The OAMP device which shows in the devices manager keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. So then I unplugged the USB and clicked on "show hidden devices" and then installed the drivers by clicking on the OAMP shown there. But when I plug in the USB again, the same reconnecting starts happening. Do you know a solution to this?
You should follow this post...
Connecting and disconnecting of OMAP device is normal, but it is important that it's recognized in device manager...
FINALLY UNBRICKED....
Sincere thanks to all those wonderful people who have made so many tutorials. I failed to do the offline KDZ flash as well as the fastboot method (as I have mentioned above). But anyway, I did unbrick my phone. I flashed using the online method as follows:
Download the latest LG Mobile Support Tool.
Connect your phone in "Software Upgrade" mode (by holding the Vol UP button while connecting the USB).
In the LG Tool, click on "Options > Recovery". Getting the recovery to open is a confusing task. You have to fiddle around with the USB Drivers options a bit.
Now, let the LG Tool do it's magic [In my case, it downloaded a 592MB file]
CAUTION: When the upgrade tool is in it's last stage, the phone will restart at around 93%. When it restarts, you quickly need to press and hold the Vol UP button to again enter the "Software Upgrade" mode, otherwise the upgrade will not succeed and you will get an error. If you get that error message, don't worry, the Tool will tell you how to "RETRY" (don't worry, no file will be downloaded from the internet this time )
REGARDING THE BATTERY ISSUE:
When my phone got bricked it was at around 65%. Now, when I finally unbricked it, I am seeing 83%!! So, either the phone charged when it was connected in the "Software Upgrade" mode, or it charged when I plugged the charger in the wall socket for half an hour. In any case, if your battery is dead (and phone is bricked) try to charge using a wall socket first. When you do this, the phone will automatically switch on and you will again get that sad "SECURITY ERROR" message. Just switch off the phone when you get this. Let the phone be plugged in for some time to let it charge. [NOW I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT WILL CHARGE AS I HAVE MENTIONED THE TWO POSSIBLE WAYS ABOVE, but hey, it's worth a try!] If your phone switches on, good job! Otherwise, try to charge via the USB by connecting to your PC/Laptop by going into "Software Upgrade" mode.
I just hope that the above points will help some unlucky soul who was stuck like me Remember, never give up!
Thanks to all for the tips my optimus was running fine at about 65 percent charged and just shut off. I bought a new battery charged all night in the wall still nothing. p.s. guessing my board went bad, no worries though just first time I ran into something I couldn't fix if the cpu would read it or any software I might have a chance
If you still have warranty you should take your phone to service, if not then try installing fastboot drives and flashing x and u then try offline kdz flash...

well I did the fastboot option i found but not sure if I did it right, I downloaded the omna files but not sure if the right ones but I did get the screen to show a faded out lg symbol not sure if that means anything
Use fastboot from here. You have here how to install fastboot drives. Then follow instructions from this page.
Read instructions carefully and you should be able to successfully unbrick your phone.
