Let me prefice this by saying that my son doesn't know how to flash files, know what super user is, or know how to do much on his phone at all other than watch youtube and text.
He is running either official CM7-RC2 or RC3 for his P500, installing Link2SD and linking a few games is the only tweak I did.
He says it just started boot looping in the morning after charging all night.
My son was complaining his P500 was not starting, I figured it was a very low battery which ended up in a boot loop pattern. The next morning he said he charged it all night and it still wasn't working. Now I knew something was not right.
I pulled the battery, tried to offline charge it, gets stuck at lg logo. Tried to boot with no battery, just the usb plugged in, same bootloop.
Tried to boot into CWM by holding vol up/home and this screen somes up!
Now every time I turn on the phone I'm greeted with this Blue Error Handler message.
Code:

I can get into emergency mode but lsusb shows nothing, adb sees nothing, kdz says phone not found. I've tried shaking the phone like a fool over and over.
The computer and usb cable work fine on my two other P500s.
I'm kind of out of ideas.
This should help

the second post in the link below solved mine...

You also might need the p500 drivers installed to use the lg thunder 1.5
You can download it from here
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/46581752/LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.6.exe
LGMDP doesn't connect to the phone, it waits at the select port screen. The drivers are installed since LGMDP can see my other P500s.
*edit* I was just thinking, I haven't tried connecting my other phones in emergency mode. Perhaps it is the drivers.
You boot to CMW with home+VOLDOWN+power... you mentioned volup.

I wish I could get recovery going, but it always just hangs and the first lg logo if I hold any buttons down during boot. The only way I can get emerg mode going is to wait for the Blue Error Handler message to come up then hold vol down and back.
Once my phone got bricked and yes nothing detected my phone in emergency mode...so I just kept my phone turned off and plugged in and started doing what the thread said...then it automatically detected my phone and my phone's problem was solved
Please do it at ur own risk...I wont hold any responsibilty.

Mind if I ask how long have ur son been using this phone? To me, it looks like it is due to age. Well that is how I see it.
a cheap trick
This is what i tried on some other phone with similar situation...
use KDZ updater....to update v20g
put to emergency...
start the update (even if the phone is detected or not)
it may or may not install the rom correctly ......but after that LGMDP will start detecting your phone..

ya I've tried updating using KDZ updater many times it always hangs at the point where it says phone not found.
I use Ubuntu on my machine and its a pain to have to reboot to windows to try to flash it, are there any linux alternatives to LGMPD or KDZ? Maybe I'll try the official LG updater full program thing next time I reboot.
I just bought an atrix 4g for myself so I'm busy playing with my new toy
I just got the error it looks like you overclock too high of a frequency u got that instead of the kernel panic. I think it is because that our processor can't handle the oc and crashed.
But somehow I got out of it and no bootloop. Will investigate.

Should try. I think it is a corrupt rom or something.
Went to researched and found out that the error happens wipe the /system isn't wiped properly. Try kdz first then install a custom recovery and wipe /system using amora recovery instead of cwm.

Uninstalled-reinstalled, rebooted, lg virtual modem doesn't appear on the list until you get the phone to connect at least once, I shook shook shook, while in emerg mode, it never seems to connect, I tried lgmdp and kdz, both never connect. Tried with and without the battery in, never connected.

Afternoon guys, so today, I finally found my phone. I moved out this previous weekend and I left it at my old place, my friends figured it'd be hilarious to post something on Facebook or send people texts from my phone, but locked themselves out, and then apparently attempted to restart in recovery mode. Now it's stuck on the LG logo, it's not seen by my computer by LG's software, or KDZ, and I don't want to take it back to the shop and get it replaced because it has all of my stuff on it (And it was rooted with Cyanogenmod installed) Anyone have any other suggestions? Do you think the store will find out or even care if I had Cyanogen installed?
Cheers, Chris.
Also, I apologize in advance if this thread is in the wrong place.
1.does it boot in recovery or not. If it does there is no problem
2.Have you tried wiping dalvik cache and data.
3.you can flash another rom it boots in recovery
Attempt Further
Try all SWISS ARMY methods ;-)
Can you get into RECOVERY???
If so try wiping CACHE,DALVIK,BAT STATS then reboot..else
You can use option MOUNT USB STORAGE(when connected to pc)
and COPY files from sd to pc.
After that Flash a new ROM after a HARD RESET

No, doesn't boot at all, stuck on the LG logo.
I haven't wiped any caches, I don't have a clue how.
I can get it into Emergency Mode, but KDZ isn't finding the phone, with the modem disabled. The LG software wont update, says there's a problem with the connection between the phone and the computer (My guess would be that it doesn't like Emergency Mode). Does it want a recovery image to be on the SD card? It'd be my first point of call, but I don't have an SD card reader on hand, but if that's all it wants, I could probably find one around.
I usually work with computers, not phones, and to my understanding, this could all be resolved by resetting the bios/removing the CMOS battery for 5 minutes, is there a way to do this on my phone?
do you have lg united drivers because kdz updater picks up the phone even while booting and also if phone is off .
dont use the computer scienve in phones..
what mode are u using in kdz updater
thank me please....

HARD RESET is like removing CMOS battery... but it reverts phone back to ORIGINAL STATE n you will lose all your data and apps..
So Backup all data in SD then PERFORM Hard Reset by:
Pressing Home+Vol.Down+Power
(CAUTION:HARD RESET DELETE ALL USER DATA

Yep, LG United Drivers.
I'm using;
Type: 3GQCT
And Phonetype: Emergency
I still get;
17:29:03 : Launching SW update
17:29:03 : Unpacking KDZ
17:29:06 : KDZ file extraced
17:29:08 : Files were extracted.

One thing you can always do is brick your phone and take it to lg ppl and say i was playing a game suddenly my phone switched off do this only if in warranty!
or
DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR PHONE UNTIL STEP 3!
1. Went to system restore in windows(you'll find it under Backup and Restore in the Control Panel) and restore your computer to a state before installing any drivers for your phone.
2. After everything had completed, installed LG Mobile update. There is an option to install general USB drivers for your phone, DO NOT do it! Go to Customer Support > Application, Manual & USB driver download. Input your IMEI number from behind the battery in the back of your phone(or just select the "Read your phone" option if you can get it to read your phone). It will search and return the correct drivers for your exact phone. Download and install your USB drivers.
3. Keep your phone disconnected from your PC, and start up LG mobile update again. Connect your phone, LG mobile update should verify the connection by trying to connect to your phone, checking software versions, etc. It will connect even if you are stuck at the LG screen.
4. If everything checks out run KDZ updater and flash your phone back to original specs.
try this this uses lg updater instead of kdz updater

Hello!
I read for hours now, bot no luck
I flashed my x10a with flashtool with generic rom.
After flash, as the flashtool says, just turned off and on the phone.
But nothing happened(green led blink one and do a sort vibration, thats all..)
no logo, no sound nothing happens.
I tried to reflash again, but windows says: Cannot recognize the device
In the control panel device manager show "unknown device".
Because of this , cannot reflash with the tool, because it's waiting for the recognized device too..
when i press the back and connect the cable, the green lighting for a minute , and turns of..
Yes, i have the correct drivers(as you can see i flashed before).
Help me guyz, please, if U can
Does it go into flashmode?
Did you try flashing it regardless of unknown device in windows?

Try flashing back to stock non root. It may suck but at least you'll have a starting point. It'll read. Ust make sure you have newest flashtool. Just had the same problem with my x10. Its still havin troubles tho.

Hey go back to stock 1st then try rooting later,
1) launch pc companion
2) select support zone
3) now select phone software update
4) then click on repair phone
Now software will download the stock ROM along with stock kernel..
When the software asks you to connect in flash mode, do the following
1) turn off the phone
2) Remove battery
3) Connect the USB cable to phone as well as to the laptop
4) Place the battery back while holding down the back button (3rd button from the left)
5) Green light should glow and the stock ROM and kernel should be flashed automatically..
When it's done you should have a stock unrooted X10, if you want then flash custom Rom after rooting it, be sure to unlock the boot loader if u want to flash custom kernel... Good luck

try this:

3) now after pop up comes to connect phone in flashmode---- remove battery, connect the phone via usb, and lastly pressing back button insert battery simultaneously.
Now the flashing should start hopefully.

hello all!
thanks for all help.
What happened:
Hopefully i found the USB port have error. If is stand in half leg, not breathing for a minute and beg for christmas the connection made successfully, and first the SEUS , after the flashtool can recognize the phone well.
Now the phone working perfectly and going to my friend's service for fix the usb port problem.
I've just spent many hours trying to revive my AT&T I777 phone that was running CM9 until I tried to flash it back to bone stock GB, then ICS.
First, I used ODIN to flash the standard default UCKH7 Gingerbread ROM from Sammy via One-Click "I777_UCKH7_OCD_No_BL.7z". After performing the ODIN, the phone flashed successfully and rebooted into a boot loop "Rethink Possible".
I searched for hours to find a solution, but one solution lead to another problem, and so on...
Currently:
- I cannot get into recovery mode, but it boots reliably into download mode. Tried the 3 button tango in EVERY way, but it will only go into DL mode.
- I've tried many different ODIN flashable images per recommendation in this forum, even the one that contains all of the extra files (recommended by creepyncrawly). All flashed fine, but none fixed the boot loop issue.
- Most recommendations say to "wipe/factory reset" to fix the bootloop issue, but I can't do that since I can't get into recovery.
- Tried to do ADB REBOOT RECOVERY, but can't get the driver to connect and list the device. The install guide says to enter "debug mode", but I can't even boot the phone.
- Tried Kies and the phone was not recognized in either DL mode or boot loop. Was hopeful Kies could reinstate the firmware.
I have a physically PERFECT SGS2 I want to sell, and unless I can fix this boot issue, it's nothing but a brick now. Any advice is much appreciated! Pulling my hair out so far...

From powered off, how long are you holding power and vol+ and vol- to get into recovery? On both mine and my wife's phones, I have to hold all three down until the second time the Sammy logo flashes up on the screen. Most people seem to get it after the first time, but I've heard of a few others like mine...

When I hold down the 3 buttons, it never actually shows the Sammy logo. It takes about 8-12 seconds and shows the Download prompt that says "press volume up" to continue to enter DL mode; "press volume down" to cancel/restart. Both of these work fine. If I ignore the prompt and continue holding the 3 buttons, it never does anything else. Thanks for your post.

It does the same thing whether the USB cable is plugged in or not. However, you gave me an idea...
This phone has been sitting in the drawer for a few months since I got my GNex. When I charged it up, after unplugging the charger the icon stayed with a "plug" symbol on the notify bar as if it was still connected to the charger.
Is it possible the phone is stuck thinking there's a cable plugged in and that's why I can't 3-button boot to recovery? Seems like I've read about other people having connector issues. Does this sound plausible? And if so, what's the best remedy?

This phone has been sitting in the drawer for a few months since I got my GNex. When I charged it up, after unplugging the charger the icon stayed with a "plug" symbol on the notify bar as if it was still connected to the charger.
Is it possible the phone is stuck thinking there's a cable plugged in and that's why I can't 3-button boot to recovery? Seems like I've read about other people having connector issues. Does this sound plausible? And if so, what's the best remedy?

Could be...Sounds like a symptom of bad or dirty usb port. Try cleaning gently with tooth brush and rubbing alcohol. Dry with canned air if you have some.

I've tried very hard to not "waste" anyone's time by doing my research, searching, and thinking; BEFORE posting. My question above is not so much "how" to clean the port, but "does this symptom I'm experiencing sound like a 'bad port' issue?". Believe me, I've done tons of searching to try to solve this problem before posting so that I can be worthy of receiving assistance.
And to the guy who says, "don't use the term brick". Sorry I said "Apparent brick"; just looking for some neighborly help to get my phone working again. At any rate, I very much appreciate any advice to help me get this fixed.
Trying hard to keep the forum clean and think for myself when possible!

I should elaborate a little for safety's sake - probably a no brainer, but in case - TAKE YOUR BATTERY OUT BEFORE CLEANING THE PORT. Don't know if it matters or not, but I wouldn't want you to short stuff during cleaning - rubbing alcohol IS part water.
Adb wait-for-device reboot recovery
Plug in your phone and let it attempt to boot. If you need adb, use the link in my signature for adb portable. It includes batch files to reboot to download or recovery modes.
This issues the reboot command if at any point in the boot process your phone is detected.
You might want to install the android sdk and ensure you have the nexus drivers installed.

Well, I cleaned the heck out of the USB port with rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush, followed by a thorough drying with compressed air. Yes, battery removed during the process; thanks for that! Unfortunately, same exact symptom. Only goes into DL mode and boot loop.
I'll now try your portable adb suggestion and see if I can get a connection.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on what may have gone wrong and/or anything I can flash via ODIN to fix the issue? Many thanks!
Installed your portable adb and followed your instructions. Ran the recovery_mode batch file and adb initialized (daemon not running, starting daemon...) followed by red text "Waiting for your device to be detected". I already installed the Android SDK yesterday and the following modules are installed: Android SDK Tools, Android SDK Platform-tools, and Google USB Driver
Powered on the phone and after a few seconds the "Rethink Possible" logo showed up and shortly thereafter, I heard the computer beep indicating it connected with the phone. Win7 device manager shows "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem" under the Modems category.
However, the portable ADB continues to show "Waiting for your device to be detected" and the boot loop continues. Did the same thing in DL mode, same result.
I reinstalled the Samsung I777 driver from Samsung's site. Going to reboot my PC now to see if that makes a difference.
Reboot did not help. Seems like the phone is not being identified as "Android Composite ADB Interface", and therefore ADB cannot see the phone. I've looked for other drivers, but no matter what I've tried, the SGS2 I777 shows as "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem" under the Modems category in Win7 Device Manger.
Any advice on ADB here? Doing the best I can, but keep running into stops. Thank you

Try in Linux? Make yourself an ubuntu live CD and go from there? As long as you have the most current drivers, it should work in Win - unless the problem is a totally hosed USB port??
Tried these? http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-i777-USB-Driver-for-AT-T.shtml

Why would it work better in Linux? I'm willing to try this, but fairly unfamiliar with Linux.

I used the Samsung drivers. Kinda leary of these drivers from softpedia. They download as SETUP.EXE and seem like inauthentic/spyware.
After many many hours of frustration and dead ends, I've finally recovered my phone! YAYYYYY!!!!!
Here's how I got it done...
- No matter what I flashed, I kept getting the boot loop. This was really throwing me for a "loop" when I thought I was flashing standard original Sammy full ROM with ODIN; yet that wasn't enough to recover the phone.
- Something was missing with the boot process, so I started looking for CWM that I could flash via ODIN. Most sites had the zip CWM file, but only a few had the TAR file. Finding a valid file proved more difficult than I thought with all the download sites that went offline for legal reasons. But I did find one!
http://www.mediafire.com/?bjhx33o4viz8tza
The above link is for file name: SGH-I777_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.0.2.3.tar
- Once I installed the above via ODIN, all of a sudden ADB recognized the phone and I was able to run: ADB REBOOT RECOVERY
It's very possible that the 3-button recovery may have worked too, but when I saw the device show up on ADB, I didn't want to take the chance.
- The device then rebooted and entered RECOVERY mode! FINALLY!!!!
- I then did a factory reset / wipe and rebooted the phone. It came up just fine, NO MORE BOOT LOOP!
Thanks to those who replied to this thread. The responses helped me think hard about what was going wrong and ultimately I dug up a solution.
After an unsuccessful CWM flashing attempt, my phone it getting the infamous "SECURITY ERROR" message. Now, I tried the offline KDZ method, but like many other JB users, the flashing got stuck at 15%. So, finally I decided to use the online flashing method using the new LG Support Tool. But the sad part is that I am suffering from a low battery issue.
So, does anyone know how to charge a soft bricked Optimus L9?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
I'm just guessing but you could try removing battery for 15-20 sec then inserting it and connecting your phone to charger. If that doesn't work, try installing x and u using fastboot that try same process with removing battery...
You can always use another phone to charge your battery

I tried the fastboot method too, but I face a problem while doing it. The OAMP device which shows in the devices manager keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. So then I unplugged the USB and clicked on "show hidden devices" and then installed the drivers by clicking on the OAMP shown there. But when I plug in the USB again, the same reconnecting starts happening. Do you know a solution to this?
You should follow this post...
Connecting and disconnecting of OMAP device is normal, but it is important that it's recognized in device manager...
FINALLY UNBRICKED....
Sincere thanks to all those wonderful people who have made so many tutorials. I failed to do the offline KDZ flash as well as the fastboot method (as I have mentioned above). But anyway, I did unbrick my phone. I flashed using the online method as follows:
Download the latest LG Mobile Support Tool.
Connect your phone in "Software Upgrade" mode (by holding the Vol UP button while connecting the USB).
In the LG Tool, click on "Options > Recovery". Getting the recovery to open is a confusing task. You have to fiddle around with the USB Drivers options a bit.
Now, let the LG Tool do it's magic [In my case, it downloaded a 592MB file]
CAUTION: When the upgrade tool is in it's last stage, the phone will restart at around 93%. When it restarts, you quickly need to press and hold the Vol UP button to again enter the "Software Upgrade" mode, otherwise the upgrade will not succeed and you will get an error. If you get that error message, don't worry, the Tool will tell you how to "RETRY" (don't worry, no file will be downloaded from the internet this time )
REGARDING THE BATTERY ISSUE:
When my phone got bricked it was at around 65%. Now, when I finally unbricked it, I am seeing 83%!! So, either the phone charged when it was connected in the "Software Upgrade" mode, or it charged when I plugged the charger in the wall socket for half an hour. In any case, if your battery is dead (and phone is bricked) try to charge using a wall socket first. When you do this, the phone will automatically switch on and you will again get that sad "SECURITY ERROR" message. Just switch off the phone when you get this. Let the phone be plugged in for some time to let it charge. [NOW I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT WILL CHARGE AS I HAVE MENTIONED THE TWO POSSIBLE WAYS ABOVE, but hey, it's worth a try!] If your phone switches on, good job! Otherwise, try to charge via the USB by connecting to your PC/Laptop by going into "Software Upgrade" mode.
I just hope that the above points will help some unlucky soul who was stuck like me Remember, never give up!
Thanks to all for the tips my optimus was running fine at about 65 percent charged and just shut off. I bought a new battery charged all night in the wall still nothing. I can't get my computer to see it. when i hold power and vol down I can hear the computer make sounds like it recognizes it though

p.s. guessing my board went bad, no worries though just first time I ran into something I couldn't fix if the cpu would read it or any software I might have a chance
If you still have warranty you should take your phone to service, if not then try installing fastboot drives and flashing x and u then try offline kdz flash...

well I did the fastboot option i found but not sure if I did it right, I downloaded the omna files but not sure if the right ones but I did get the screen to show a faded out lg symbol not sure if that means anything
Use fastboot from here. You have here how to install fastboot drives. Then follow instructions from this page.
Read instructions carefully and you should be able to successfully unbrick your phone.
Hi, so i tried to get cyanogenmod working on my g3 earlier yesterday and when i rebooted after installing twrp through the google play store it displayed the lg symbol, then displayed the lg symbol with "Security Error" under the LG, then turns off. I got the phone into recovery mode, then when i try to factory reset it has an lg symbol for about 1 second, then the screen goes black and my notification light blinks red/orange and blue. please help I dont know much about rooting my verizon lg g3 came rooted when i bought it used
Go back to stock
If it were me, the next thing I would try to do, is to get the phone back to 100% stock. Then you will know exactly what you have.
Try this:
Go find the link (I don't have it offhand) for the LG USB drivers and install them.
Plug a compatible USB cable into your PC.
Power off the phone and let it sit for 20 seconds.
With the G3 still off, hold down the volume UP button, and while holding it down, connect the USB cable to the phone.
You should see a "Download" mode displayed on the phone.
If that works, you now have a high percentage of success.
Go find and use the "LG Flash Tool 2014" to flash a pre-Lollipop KDZ file (eg, 12B). Use "CSE" mode, not "Normal" mode.
Thanks, but still no luck

I tried what you said, everything was looking good but then in the final stages of the flashing process it says that it has encountered an error and the only option is to exit. Any other ideas?

maybe try a different usb 2 port if you have another one. other than that i wont be of much help.
i never bothered to learn the kdz process. the tot process always worked well for me, so i just stuck with it. unfortunately the tot's arent distributed as widely as the kdz on this device.

When you say it fails are you only thinking it fails because LG Flash Tool 2014 throws an error dialog up? If so, don't touch the dialog next time. You can move the dialog out of your way if you need to, but don't click any buttons inside the dialog. 99% of the time, if LG Flash Tool 2014 puts an error dialog up, if you just ignore it, it will actually flash your device. This isn't always the case, but literally almost all of the time. When this happens, it can take longer for it to start the actual flash process, so on the VS985, I'd wait 10 minutes before I'd start to worry.
On my VK810 tablet, it's up to 20 minutes.
If this is a different problem altogether: As @bweN diorD said, try another USB 2.0 port. When you put the phone in Download mode, check Device Manager in Windows, look for the LG entry in the Modem section. If this isn't showing up (could take up to 5 or more minutes to load the driver you previously installed, the first time you plug the phone into a different USB port while in Download mode), then you'll have to solve this problem first.
Let us know what the status of things is based on this information.
