LG G3 Security error & red/blue blinking lights - Verizon LG G3

Hi, so i tried to get cyanogenmod working on my g3 earlier yesterday and when i rebooted after installing twrp through the google play store it displayed the lg symbol, then displayed the lg symbol with "Security Error" under the LG, then turns off. I got the phone into recovery mode, then when i try to factory reset it has an lg symbol for about 1 second, then the screen goes black and my notification light blinks red/orange and blue. please help I dont know much about rooting my verizon lg g3 came rooted when i bought it used

Go back to stock
If it were me, the next thing I would try to do, is to get the phone back to 100% stock. Then you will know exactly what you have.
Try this:
Go find the link (I don't have it offhand) for the LG USB drivers and install them.
Plug a compatible USB cable into your PC.
Power off the phone and let it sit for 20 seconds.
With the G3 still off, hold down the volume UP button, and while holding it down, connect the USB cable to the phone.
You should see a "Download" mode displayed on the phone.
If that works, you now have a high percentage of success.
Go find and use the "LG Flash Tool 2014" to flash a pre-Lollipop KDZ file (eg, 12B). Use "CSE" mode, not "Normal" mode.

Thanks, but still no luck

I tried what you said, everything was looking good but then in the final stages of the flashing process it says that it has encountered an error and the only option is to exit. Any other ideas?

maybe try a different usb 2 port if you have another one. other than that i wont be of much help.
i never bothered to learn the kdz process. the tot process always worked well for me, so i just stuck with it. unfortunately the tot's arent distributed as widely as the kdz on this device.

When you say it fails are you only thinking it fails because LG Flash Tool 2014 throws an error dialog up? If so, don't touch the dialog next time. You can move the dialog out of your way if you need to, but don't click any buttons inside the dialog. 99% of the time, if LG Flash Tool 2014 puts an error dialog up, if you just ignore it, it will actually flash your device. This isn't always the case, but literally almost all of the time. When this happens, it can take longer for it to start the actual flash process, so on the VS985, I'd wait 10 minutes before I'd start to worry.
On my VK810 tablet, it's up to 20 minutes.
If this is a different problem altogether: As @bweN diorD said, try another USB 2.0 port. When you put the phone in Download mode, check Device Manager in Windows, look for the LG entry in the Modem section. If this isn't showing up (could take up to 5 or more minutes to load the driver you previously installed, the first time you plug the phone into a different USB port while in Download mode), then you'll have to solve this problem first.
Let us know what the status of things is based on this information.

Son's Phone - Blue Error Handler boot loop, bricked?

Let me prefice this by saying that my son doesn't know how to flash files, know what super user is, or know how to do much on his phone at all other than watch youtube and text.
He is running either official CM7-RC2 or RC3 for his P500, installing Link2SD and linking a few games is the only tweak I did.
He says it just started boot looping in the morning after charging all night.
My son was complaining his P500 was not starting, I figured it was a very low battery which ended up in a boot loop pattern. The next morning he said he charged it all night and it still wasn't working. Now I knew something was not right.
I pulled the battery, tried to offline charge it, gets stuck at lg logo. Tried to boot with no battery, just the usb plugged in, same bootloop.
Tried to boot into CWM by holding vol up/home and this screen somes up!
Now every time I turn on the phone I'm greeted with this Blue Error Handler message.
Code:

You also might need the p500 drivers installed to use the lg thunder 1.5
You can download it from here

LGMDP doesn't connect to the phone, it waits at the select port screen. The drivers are installed since LGMDP can see my other P500s.
*edit* I was just thinking, I haven't tried connecting my other phones in emergency mode. Perhaps it is the drivers.

I wish I could get recovery going, but it always just hangs and the first lg logo if I hold any buttons down during boot. The only way I can get emerg mode going is to wait for the Blue Error Handler message to come up then hold vol down and back.
Once my phone got bricked and yes nothing detected my phone in emergency mode...so I just kept my phone turned off and plugged in and started doing what the thread said...then it automatically detected my phone and my phone's problem was solved
Please do it at ur own risk...I wont hold any responsibilty.

Mind if I ask how long have ur son been using this phone? To me, it looks like it is due to age. Well that is how I see it.
a cheap trick
This is what i tried on some other phone with similar situation...
use KDZ updater....to update v20g
put to emergency...
start the update (even if the phone is detected or not)
it may or may not install the rom correctly ......but after that LGMDP will start detecting your phone..

ya I've tried updating using KDZ updater many times it always hangs at the point where it says phone not found.
I use Ubuntu on my machine and its a pain to have to reboot to windows to try to flash it, are there any linux alternatives to LGMPD or KDZ? Maybe I'll try the official LG updater full program thing next time I reboot.

I just got the error it looks like you overclock too high of a frequency u got that instead of the kernel panic. I think it is because that our processor can't handle the oc and crashed.
But somehow I got out of it and no bootloop. Will investigate.

Went to researched and found out that the error happens wipe the /system isn't wiped properly. Try kdz first then install a custom recovery and wipe /system using amora recovery instead of cwm.

Uninstalled-reinstalled, rebooted, lg virtual modem doesn't appear on the list until you get the phone to connect at least once, I shook shook shook, while in emerg mode, it never seems to connect, I tried lgmdp and kdz, both never connect. Tried with and without the battery in, never connected.

Stuck on Boot Animation

I just recently downloaded SlimBean 3.1 and was trying to upgrade to that from 3.0. So I did my usual procedure: wipe, clear cache, format /system. Then I proceeded to installing Slimbean 3.1, then the kernel (Semaphore_JB_2.6.5sv) and finally the gapps for SlimBean. But the boot animation was taking too long (>10 minutes), when it usually doesn't when I install a SlimBean ROM, so I pulled the battery and repeated the process. Now I realized that once in a while (about 10 seconds) it would give a small vibration and on occasion when I retried to install, it would give me a 'Whoop' sound (when that happens, it's about every ~5 minutes). Anyone know what the problem is so I can fix it? Thanks!
Did you try getting it to boot, then go back and flash kernel?
I've felt the vibrations but never any sound. Don't know why that would happen.

Yeah I've tried getting it to boot many times.. I just tried flashing the Semaphore kernel over the ROM in CWM, no good. Still stuck at the SlimBean boot animation as always and there's still the vibrations every 10 or so seconds.
I'm trying to use Heimdall for the first time now to see if it can help solve my problem. I've just done the zadig thing, but now I'm not quite sure how to proceed, I don't know what to put in the Heimdall Firmware Package.
EDIT: S**t, I tried flashing a kernel via Heimdall, failed for some reason, and now it's bricked with the 'phone ! pc' icon, can't get into download mode with 3 button combo. I just keeps going back to the 'phone ! pc' icon, I think it might be hard bricked. Odin isn't reading my device. No luck with one click unbrick either...This is not my day..
Pull battery, connect USB then hold button combo while popping battery back in. (With Odin on obviously)

Thanks for the reply. I tried doing that, still a no-go. Popped battery out, removed sd card/sim, put usb in, held vol. up and down keys, popped battery in. It keeps going back to the 'phone ! pc' screen and Odin's still not reading my device. I really am afraid that this might be a hard brick rather than a soft brick..
You aren't hard bricked, if you were you'd see nothing. The goal now is to try and get DL mode.
Have you tried to run Odin even though it doesn't give com port? Don't know if that will work but try it.
Try only vol up or only vol down and see if that works.

I sure hope so.. I've tried inserted the stock eclair PDA in Odin, along with the s1_odin_20100512.pit file, clicked start and was presented with "<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)". I think one of the reasons why Odin isn't recognizing my Vibrant is because of the drivers (even before the brick). I'm always presented with "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." The drivers I downloaded were the latest from Samsung's site.
I tried both, still went into the 'phone ! pc' screen. Also tried using USBDeview to uninstall the Samsung drivers, and then, as always, when I plug in the Vibrant, it gives me the message mentioned above where Windows doesn't recognize the device. It'll install some Unknown Device's drivers, which don't work. I thought it might have been the zadig thing I did for Heimdall, but I guess not.

Just tried, still went into the 'phone ! pc' screen. I believe I'm on the GB bootloader, it's been a while since I flashed a bootloader so I'm not quite sure, but since I managed to install SlimBean 3.0 before(required the GB bootloader), I'm assuming it's that.

Then you changed also the way you get to download mode. Instead of pressing both vol up & down, use ONE only, the volume up button. Don't give up, you will have to retry many times to get there, your phone is still OK.

I couldn't get only vol. up or down to work. I have the one-click packager downloaded, but I don't know what to do with it. From the start it says 'Select a Heimdall tar.gz for one-click".

Thank you! Though, it's not recognizing the phone, still shows disconnected. Then again, it might be a problem with my computer drivers not seeing my device/installing incorrect drivers (i.e 'Unknown device' and 'Port Failed'. This will definitely prove useful if I do get it to go to download mode or for future problems, if I manage to get it fixed.

Try to uninstall the current USB drivers, reboot PC and then use Zadig from Heimdall suite (1.3 or 1.3.1) to install them. It perhaps will not recognize it as a phone, don't bother, it's enough to make it just visible to PC (check search all devices or something like that in preferences of Zadig).

I uninstalled all the drivers related to the Vibrant using USBDeview, like the blank unnamed driver and the 'Port reset' one, then rebooted. But it's still not visible as a device. I'll post a screenshot of this.
Here's what usually happens. If you take a look at the last line in USBDeview, that's usually what the Vibrant comes out to be, just a blank line with no description.

[Q] Phone soft-bricked, battery dead

After an unsuccessful CWM flashing attempt, my phone it getting the infamous "SECURITY ERROR" message. Now, I tried the offline KDZ method, but like many other JB users, the flashing got stuck at 15%. So, finally I decided to use the online flashing method using the new LG Support Tool. But the sad part is that I am suffering from a low battery issue.
So, does anyone know how to charge a soft bricked Optimus L9?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
I'm just guessing but you could try removing battery for 15-20 sec then inserting it and connecting your phone to charger. If that doesn't work, try installing x and u using fastboot that try same process with removing battery...
You can always use another phone to charge your battery

I tried the fastboot method too, but I face a problem while doing it. The OAMP device which shows in the devices manager keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. So then I unplugged the USB and clicked on "show hidden devices" and then installed the drivers by clicking on the OAMP shown there. But when I plug in the USB again, the same reconnecting starts happening. Do you know a solution to this?
You should follow this post...
Connecting and disconnecting of OMAP device is normal, but it is important that it's recognized in device manager...
FINALLY UNBRICKED....
Sincere thanks to all those wonderful people who have made so many tutorials. I failed to do the offline KDZ flash as well as the fastboot method (as I have mentioned above). But anyway, I did unbrick my phone. I flashed using the online method as follows:
Download the latest LG Mobile Support Tool.
Connect your phone in "Software Upgrade" mode (by holding the Vol UP button while connecting the USB).
In the LG Tool, click on "Options > Recovery". Getting the recovery to open is a confusing task. You have to fiddle around with the USB Drivers options a bit.
Now, let the LG Tool do it's magic [In my case, it downloaded a 592MB file]
CAUTION: When the upgrade tool is in it's last stage, the phone will restart at around 93%. When it restarts, you quickly need to press and hold the Vol UP button to again enter the "Software Upgrade" mode, otherwise the upgrade will not succeed and you will get an error. If you get that error message, don't worry, the Tool will tell you how to "RETRY" (don't worry, no file will be downloaded from the internet this time )
REGARDING THE BATTERY ISSUE:
When my phone got bricked it was at around 65%. Now, when I finally unbricked it, I am seeing 83%!! So, either the phone charged when it was connected in the "Software Upgrade" mode, or it charged when I plugged the charger in the wall socket for half an hour. In any case, if your battery is dead (and phone is bricked) try to charge using a wall socket first. When you do this, the phone will automatically switch on and you will again get that sad "SECURITY ERROR" message. Just switch off the phone when you get this. Let the phone be plugged in for some time to let it charge. [NOW I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT WILL CHARGE AS I HAVE MENTIONED THE TWO POSSIBLE WAYS ABOVE, but hey, it's worth a try!] If your phone switches on, good job! Otherwise, try to charge via the USB by connecting to your PC/Laptop by going into "Software Upgrade" mode.
I just hope that the above points will help some unlucky soul who was stuck like me Remember, never give up!
Thanks to all for the tips my optimus was running fine at about 65 percent charged and just shut off. I bought a new battery charged all night in the wall still nothing. I can't get my computer to see it. when i hold power and vol down I can hear the computer make sounds like it recognizes it though

I don't think so, just now did it and I can here the computer making sounds like it recognizes it but nothing shows on the phone
p.s. guessing my board went bad, no worries though just first time I ran into something I couldn't fix if the cpu would read it or any software I might have a chance

well I did the fastboot option i found but not sure if I did it right, I downloaded the omna files but not sure if the right ones but I did get the screen to show a faded out lg symbol not sure if that means anything
Use fastboot from here. You have here how to install fastboot drives. Then follow instructions from this page.
Read instructions carefully and you should be able to successfully unbrick your phone.

Help! LG G3 possibly bricked!

I am pretty new to this rooted community and i unfortunately felt a too confident with everyone saying it is really easy. I did a one click root on my lg g3 vs985 (35B version) and was successful. The next step was to install twrp and i attempted so with flashify and the latest twrp IMG. The recovery boot never worked and always did a normal boot. I resorted to this one tutorial which said to use an app called autorec. This where it went wrong. The reboot made my screen blank and none of the buttons did anything. I plugged it in and my laptop still recognized the phone. I pulled the battery and plugged in and the screen turned on (thankfully) and shows a missing battery screen. With the battery in i tried turning it on with the power and volume down button on and it vibrated. Now randomly vibrates. Please help i don't know what to do!
This forum is extremely unhelpful, but i managed to get it back to stock. I was missing some drivers and not being careful, i almost ended up with a brick.
What did you do to fix the issue? My phone is doing nearly the same thing though it was after installing JasmineROM that it occurred. The screen is blank unless I pull the battery and plug it in to see the missing battery icon.

1. Pull the battery and put it back in
2. Press and hold the volume up button and plug it in to a PC
3. Keep holding down the volume up until you see a screen which says download mode
4. Install a program called LG Flash Tool 2014 (Extract and put it into a directory you want)
5. Download the KDZ of the stock software you want (forum around here but I don't remember where)
6. Put the KDZ file into the LG Flash Tool folder
7. Enter CDMA and the KDZ file
8. Click normal flash which will bring you to a screen.
9. There will be menu with alot of blank things, don't worry just click start
10. It will being you to a LG mobile support screen.
11. Wait till the meter completes
12. If it there's an error at the end saying connection failed do not worry the bar on your phone should begin moving
13. Your phone will then boot into stock and you can do what you want from there.

Did I brick my phone?

I was in the process of installing a new rom on my phone, I have been rooted for months, everything was fine, now when I installed the new rom via TWRP and rebooted my phone wont turn on, I just get a flashing notification light alternating between blue and green and it just sits there, I can't even boot back into recovery using Volume down + power, I just get a black screen.

so it seems like my phone is working in the background, but the screen is still black, if I tap things I can hear noises, I think I hit the emergency call button and was hearing the phone being dialed.
So now I need to find out why my screen would just go out like that, and if its the brightness that is completely low or something else.
if I plug in my phone to my computer and pull out the battery, my screen turns on with a flashing missing battery box and I can see the background of my phone, but I can't do anything else.
This kind of problem is commonly caused by a mismatch in partitions from various versions. Am example would be if you flash the 35B bootstack and then after that flash either JasmineROM 9.0+9.1 or SkyDragon 6.02, and you don't reflash the 35B bootstack again after that.
Both of those ROMs have an incomplete collection of partitions from 24B which would overwrite the ones from the 35B bootstack, and the mix of the 24B ones with what 35B ones that weren't overwritten results in that.
If you go through the motions of putting the phone in Download mode (you can pull the battery to make sure and stay with it off), and if you already have the Verizon LG drivers installed, you can see the phone is in Download mode by looking in Device Manager in the Modem section.
Use LG Flash Tool 2014 to flash the 10B KDZ, re-root with the Stump app, put TWRP on with TWRP Manager from the Play Store, then reflash what you want.
If you want the 35B bootstack on either of those two ROMs, flash it after the ROM, not before. If you don't want the 35B bootstack, flash the 24B bootstack before flashing the ROM.
I can't get the phone to go into download mode, with the battery off, the second I plug into my PC the phone turns on instantly into a faded setup wizard that looks like it has 2 wizards over laid on each other and in the middle a dark cloud with a battery icon and flashing red question mark.
holding volume up and power won't do anything.
Also my pc is being stubborn, I installed the LG g3 Verizon drivers and it shows exclamation marks on the phone's entry in device manager, should I do this in windows XP?
so it seems my phone does go into download mode, the overlay I am seeing is the setup wizard for the phone and the firmware update screen behind it..
still can't get the drivers to fire up though

After having installed the Verizon LG drivers, I recommend rebooting the PC (with the phone disconnected).
The correct way to get into Download mode is by, with the phone completely off, press and hold the Volume Up button (but not the power button), then while continuing to hold the Volume Up button, connect the original USB cable to a USB 2.0 port directly on the PC, not through a hub) and to the phone. In a moment you should see the Download mode screen and you should let go of the button.
The first time you do this on a different USB 2.0 port, Windows can take up to 10 minutes to load the driver that you had installed. Leave the phone connected for at least that long and then verify if the icon in the Modem section of Device Manager looks normal then, not with the exclamation point.
Edit: I didn't see until later that you say it does go into Download mode - never saw the Download mode overlaid by the phone setup wizard. If that's accurate, something's weird since Download mode doesn't get loaded in Android.
I think this phone is shot, I followed your instructions, the phone boots up to the firmware upgrade screen but I can still see "setup wizard" behind it really faint, and the PC continues to not recognize the phone

Very, very strange.
You can't get into TWRP either? Hold Volume Down and while holding it, press and hold Power, then when stock recovery pops up, let go of the buttons, and use the volume and power buttons to select Wipe Cache or Factory Reset - either should take you to TWRP.
What ROM did you install, anyway?
If you can get into TWRP, try flashing the 35B bootstack from @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 ROM thread in Devleopment, then try to get into Download mode again. You might even be able to select from TWRP's reboot menu off the main menu, to reboot into Bootloader, which I think takes you to Download mode too. I haven't actually tried using it that way too - I'd try the regular way of getting into Downloade mode first.
I just did the same thing to a send LG G3 I bought, you gotta be kidding me....
Tried to install Jasmine 9.0, then updated to 9.1 and ran the debloat option, that seems to be killing my phones, this was a $150 lesson that I am avoid Jasmine Roms from now on. I can restore the new phone either, won't boot up into recovery, or anything.
my PC picks up the phone, but the screen is black so I can't tell if its in download mode, and LGflashtool 2014 won't recognize the phone.
I am at a loss for words.

I forgot to mention in the JasmineROM thread - I think that was you talking about the issue there too, right? Even if the phone screen is black as long as you see it in Device Manager under the modem section, then you're in Download mode. Then you can use LG Flash Tool 2014. Make sure and give Windows up to 10 minutes to load the driver. Don't use a USB hub.
Pull the battery to make sure the phone is off. Connect your original USB cable to a USB 2.0 port on your Windows PC - don't have the phone end connected. Press and hold the Volume Up button, and while keeping it pressed, insert the USB cable into the phone. Even if it doesn't vibrate - that's okay, although it might, too. Let go of the Volume Up button after two seconds. After giving Windows enough time to load the driver, you should see it in the Modem section. If you don't see it, check under the Ports section and see what it says.
So when I plug my phone into my PC my device manger shows LGE Mobile for VZW USB Composite Device and it says this device is working properly, but when I try to run LG flash 2014, I get an error saying my Device isn't plugged in
well I got it past the "not connect" part but now I am getting a connection to server failed, try again in a moment

Just ignore error dialogs like "can't connect to server". Drag the error dialog out of the way, don't click any buttons in it. Within 5-10 minutes you should find your phone successfully flashed.

completely ignore it? because I hit "OK" and then on the screen screen my S/W upgraded starts and errors out at 4%
Ok so I noticed the progress bar behind the connection error box, but that is the same one that errors out at 4%. The only thing I can try now is the original cable which I don't know where it is, I've tried 3 different usb cables already though.
Use The Specific Trademark Program Of Your Device On your Computer, E.,g(Flashtool,Odin,) And Flash An Stock Rom On It

Yes, completely ignore it. Don't hit "OK" or any other button on the dialog, just drag the dialog out of your view if you must. It's common, it happens a lot although not all the time.

*Error Update* So with this leaked LP image, I've been playing with kdz'ing quite a bit and with a new Windows install I got to experience a few of the issues being reported by others that I have never seen, along with trying to troubleshoot some others. Did I manage to fix them easily you ask?? Hell yeah!
USB Disconnected Issue: This is a driver issue. Very easy fix, just download the latest Verizon drivers from the link I posted above and install them without phone plugged in. Power off phone, hold up, plug into usb and WAIT for download mode drivers to install (as stated several times in this thread). Click the balloon to watch the progress, this took about 10min on an i5/ssd machine - be patient. This is the predominant issue I think people are having. The drivers while in download mode are:
-USB Composite Device
-LGE Android phone or LGE AndroidNet for VZW USB Serial Port COM5 (this is the important one)
-CDC Serial or LGE AndroidNet for VZW USB Modem (this will fail if you are on a rom with certain VZW items removed - not a problem, its not needed)
-CDC ECM LGE AndroidNet for VZW NDIS Ethernet Adapter
If driver install fails, manually update them by pointing windows to the driver file you downloaded. I am not going any further here, use Google.
??????'s In The Field: easy, don't change region or language from Korean as stated in the OP. Leave it alone, it will flash in English I promise you. Result = all fields readable in English while running
Connection To Server Failed: Simple, ignore the window. Just drag it away, but don't close it. This is an offline hack originally indented to run online, deal with the window!
Progress Bar: The tool will initially analyze the phone, then when flashing starts, pay attention to the phone screen which will now say COM5. The blue progress bar on the phone is the important one. At around 80% on the tool screen, the phone will reboot. The flash is over and the bar will continue to progress into the 99% while rebooting - then the program will crash. You can disconnect now, you've been successful.

23A, 23B and 23C_00 were leaks of Lollipop. Try what exactly?

Im still trying to get around the issue when it gets to the S/W update and then errors out around 4%.
I don't know what else I could be doing wrong.

Try any/all of the following?
Reboot the PC?
Use a different USB 2.0 port?
Use a different quality USB cable?
So you're saying even if you ignore the error dialog that it stops at 4%?
Yes 4% and I get a complete error.
I am going to try an official LG cable to see if it helps

Since I said two days ago about using the original USB cable and you didn't comment, I figured you were already.
