[Q] Im searching T9 keyboard apk - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hello,
did anybody know the name from the T9 keyboard? I have a rooted X10 mini and a new one X8 and I would have the T9 keyboard from X10 mini on my X8. But I dont know the name from the T9 keyboard from mini. Can it be truh that the T9 keyboard from mini run on the x8? The different resolutions let me feel bad...
Can anybody help me please?

Firstly, I don't really know these things. I have a mini pro and on my phone I believe it is the SuquashiInputMethod.apk in system/app.
With Root Explorer try to find a similar file on your phones and inside the apk view the AndroidManifest.xml file.
Check if this text matches:
<supports-screens anyDensity="true" smallScreens="true">
</supports-screens>
If it does, then the new keypad should work. But these are just guesses. Make a backup with xrecovery before you try swapping.
If anyone knows better, please correct me. I don't mind learning new things.

Hi,
thanks for your answer.
I find the xml file but I cant open it right. I became errors when I try to open. Anything with stylesheet? Dont know what this mean. Can you look inside please? I attach the xml file. Oh can not attach xml files. I take the apk.

I try it out and install the SuquashiInputMethod.apk on the X8. But the only change I have are 2 default input settings for onscreen keyboard but there is no T9 keyboard to choose. Any ideas what I can do or test? :-(
I like this T9 keyboard so much its the best T9 keyboard I ever had.

After installing the apk i think you have to choose the new Keyboard under Settings->Language & Keyboard.
Then try to touch about 2 seconds on the Message field for SMS. Then there pop out a field with "Input Method". There have to be two input settings. You tried both and everytime happend nothing?
(Maybe you have to close and re-open den SMS App after choosing the other keyboard)
I don't tried it yet but i have the same problem than you. My girlfriend is really unhappy with the quertz of the X8 and want's to have the keyboard of my X10minipro on her X8...

Yes, I know I try this all but the T9 keyboard is not there :-(
Dont know why :-(
I understand your girlfriend. The mini and mini pro T9 keyboard was the best I ever had. I hope anybody can help us.

If this really should be unavaliable you can try "HTC Ime". I tested it on the X8 an it's working.
But you can't mess it with the x10mini keyboard.

I dont like this keyboard. I really want the mini/mini pro T9 keyboard. If there is a chance. But I need help to find out how it can be true...

Just to be sure, you want this keyboard, right

Yes :-D
This is the keyboard I really love and want to have on my X8.

Hm, that is the suquashi I sent you. Did you first uninstall your x8 keyboard before installing the one I sent you?

No how can I uninstall the original one? I think the old one would be overwrite automatically after install the suquashi? The X8 is not rooted yet I hope I can do this tomorrow. Is that the reason while the suquashi dont run after install?

I believe so. You need root to uninstall the original one.

Hmm but I dont can open the xml file to look about the screen resolution. Internet explorer and firefox saying anything about stylesheet and dont open the xml file. Do you look inside the xml? Or please can you take a look for me?

Actually the default keyboard application of x8 is textinput-tng.apk (com.sonyericsson.text.input.uxp).

I try it but no chance :-(
The phone says all time the standard input will be unexpected close. I try differnet things but all dont work and end up with the same error.
I delete the original textinput-tng.apk and copy the suquashi in system/app and install it. Restart phone. Error with above text.
Then I rename the suquashi in textinput-tng and copy in system/app and install it. Same error. I change the permissions in suquashi but same error. At last I install both but then I dont can choose the T9 keypad :-(
Im down :-(
Other ideas?

Could this be working? I would extract a x8 stock rom and change the textinput-tng.apk with the suqashiinputmethod.apk an install it new?

No one can help me?

OK, I found the solution to run the Xperia x10 T9 keypad on my X8. All is working fine.
I was wondering, why the T9 keypad on the X8 have a smaler look as on the x10. Where are the preferences in system file? Or which files manage the grafic from keyboard layout?

Just want to share my solution for the Qwertz and Qwerty problem:
I always swap the letters z and y in the keyprint, keylayouts, keychars etc.
with root explorer under system/usr .
I tried to find all layouts and I even changed the ones, where it said Qwertz,
don't know which of them is the right one to change but it helps me alot

Hi,
Swype is now available for the mini, from the official site itself---specially designed for mini's resolution.Check it out.I have tried and it works well.Personally I find Swiftkey more appropriate for the mini---least effort required after a while because it has a very intelligent predictive capability and draws on your usage pattern!I have the paid version but the free version is good enough for starters.Check it out.
Best wishes.
thanks for all your suggestions. I will try these keyboards.
sathkartha I tried to install swype but its installation gets failed. so can you please attach the file. so that I can try it once more.

It might not work that way.You may have to register your email id that can be accessed on your phone.Swype would then send you a link which you should open from your phone and then install.I think they generate some unique id in order to keep track of all their installations. This is still Beta!
For what it is worth,I am attaching an apk which you can try out.
Best wishes.
Do press the Thanks button if you find this useful.
if you want a regular keyboard and powerful features, good ui + themes, good settings, language packs and dictionary packs, i offer you:
SmartKeyboard pro
Thanks sathkartha it worked for me.I guess swype doesn't provide updates. Am I right?? I am asking this because swype doesn't have my email address so if there will b update I will not get it.

I heard Swiftkey doesnt support the symbols and smileys you have with the stock keyboard..
In the search of a good keyboard, I tested many, but could find one that supports the Symbols key(like the SE Default Input). Also, I needed a keylogger for my mini pro. Finally, I decided to write my own input method, which meets my particular requirements It's no t so difficult, just check the SoftKeyboard example or the LatinIME from the Android source code.
Smart keyboard pro is my pick! super cool. just nice without other bla bla bla =)
Yes, SmartKeyboardPro is the best!
smart keyboard pro supports many languages, has many options in settings specialy for autocomplete and has a lovely backup for options. it learns new words and can add them to user dictionary. quick text is also very good feature for inserting big sentences or email address just by few characters.
I was using Anysoft Keyboard, and I thought it was nice. Currently I have been trying swype and also liking it. It tends to be better for bigger words, while some small words it makes more mistakes. One thing that would make it perfect would be to ALSO suggest when you are typing a word character by character, not only when you swype a full word..
SwiftKey Keyboard is the best for me
SmartKeybord Pro - The Best!
Smart keyboard pro works best for me too.
I've found the best is actually the official Android Gingerbread one...

[Q] Cyanogen MiniCM7 italian keyboard layout

I've installed the CM7 on my x10 mini pro and everything went good, but I got a very big issue: the physical keyboard layout is QWERTZ instead of QWERTY.
I've foud around some posts about the way to change a typo in a language file that misses a "_" but where can I find this file to modify?
Is there another way to put the Italian QWERTY layout?
Thanks for the help!
Use Mini Rom Maneger and after change reboot phone

[REQUEST]Xpera Keyboard

Hi!
I love Sony(Ericssons)'s "swype" keyboard. I've tried different sliding keyboards like TouchPal and SlideIt, but they are not nearly as good as Sony's. I'm currently running AOKP(I run AOSP roms mostly), and since it has Android Keyboard instead of Xperia Keyboard, I'm asking someone to post a link or something to a flashable keyboard or something.
I have the keyboard apk on my SD(extracted from a stock rom), and I've tried installing the .apk and pushing it to /system/app, but neither method worked.
I'd be grateful if someone answered!
Thank you!
Try this....
Have you tried my flashable keyboard?

Try this it is a modded keyboard by iridaki.
Think it is stock but with swipe you need to set it up from settings to swipe.
Hope it helps
